Workers in the vineyard
20 “The kingdom of heaven is like a landowner who went out early in the morning to hire workers for his vineyard. 2 After he agreed with the workers to pay them a denarion,[a] he sent them into his vineyard.
3 “Then he went out around nine in the morning and saw others standing around the marketplace doing nothing. 4 He said to them, ‘You also go into the vineyard, and I’ll pay you whatever is right.’ 5 And they went.
“Again around noon and then at three in the afternoon, he did the same thing. 6 Around five in the afternoon he went and found others standing around, and he said to them, ‘Why are you just standing around here doing nothing all day long?’
7 “‘Because nobody has hired us,’ they replied.
“He responded, ‘You also go into the vineyard.’
8 “When evening came, the owner of the vineyard said to his manager, ‘Call the workers and give them their wages, beginning with the last ones hired and moving on finally to the first.’ 9 When those who were hired at five in the afternoon came, each one received a denarion. 10 Now when those hired first came, they thought they would receive more. But each of them also received a denarion. 11 When they received it, they grumbled against the landowner, 12 ‘These who were hired last worked one hour, and they received the same pay as we did even though we had to work the whole day in the hot sun.’
13 “But he replied to one of them, ‘Friend, I did you no wrong. Didn’t I agree to pay you a denarion? 14 Take what belongs to you and go. I want to give to this one who was hired last the same as I give to you. 15 Don’t I have the right to do what I want with what belongs to me? Or are you resentful because I’m generous?’ 16 So those who are last will be first. And those who are first will be last.”
Jesus predicts his death and resurrection
17 As Jesus was going up to Jerusalem, he took the Twelve aside by themselves on the road. He told them, 18 “Look, we are going up to Jerusalem. The Human One[b] will be handed over to the chief priests and legal experts. They will condemn him to death. 19 They will hand him over to the Gentiles to be ridiculed, tortured, and crucified. But he will be raised on the third day.”
Request from James and John’s mother
20 Then the mother of Zebedee’s sons came to Jesus along with her sons. Bowing before him, she asked a favor of him.
21 “What do you want?” he asked.
She responded, “Say that these two sons of mine will sit, one on your right hand and one on your left, in your kingdom.”
22 Jesus replied, “You don’t know what you’re asking! Can you drink from the cup that I’m about to drink from?”
They said to him, “We can.”
23 He said to them, “You will drink from my cup, but to sit at my right or left hand isn’t mine to give. It belongs to those for whom my Father prepared it.”
24 Now when the other ten disciples heard about this, they became angry with the two brothers. 25 But Jesus called them over and said, “You know that those who rule the Gentiles show off their authority over them and their high-ranking officials order them around. 26 But that’s not the way it will be with you. Whoever wants to be great among you will be your servant. 27 Whoever wants to be first among you will be your slave— 28 just as the Human One[c] didn’t come to be served but rather to serve and to give his life to liberate many people.”
Healing of two blind men
29 As Jesus and his disciples were going out of Jericho a large crowd followed him. 30 When two blind men sitting along the road heard that Jesus was passing by, they shouted, “Show us mercy, Lord, Son of David!”
31 Now the crowd scolded them and told them to be quiet. But they shouted even louder, “Show us mercy, Lord, Son of David!”
32 Jesus stopped in his tracks and called to them. “What do you want me to do for you?” he asked.
33 “Lord, we want to see,” they replied.
34 Jesus had compassion on them and touched their eyes. Immediately they were able to see, and they followed him.

20 “For the kingdom of heaven is like a landowner who went out early in the morning to hire laborers for his vineyard. 2 Now when he had agreed with the laborers for a denarius a day, he sent them into his vineyard. 3 And he went out about the third hour and saw others standing idle in the marketplace, 4 and said to them, ‘You also go into the vineyard, and whatever is right I will give you.’ So they went. 5 Again he went out about the sixth and the ninth hour, and did likewise. 6 And about the eleventh hour he went out and found others standing [a]idle, and said to them, ‘Why have you been standing here idle all day?’ 7 They said to him, ‘Because no one hired us.’ He said to them, ‘You also go into the vineyard, [b]and whatever is right you will receive.’
8 “So when evening had come, the owner of the vineyard said to his steward, ‘Call the laborers and give them their wages, beginning with the last to the first.’ 9 And when those came who were hired about the eleventh hour, they each received a denarius. 10 But when the first came, they supposed that they would receive more; and they likewise received each a denarius. 11 And when they had received it, they [c]complained against the landowner, 12 saying, ‘These last men have worked only one hour, and you made them equal to us who have borne the burden and the heat of the day.’ 13 But he answered one of them and said, ‘Friend, I am doing you no wrong. Did you not agree with me for a denarius? 14 Take what is yours and go your way. I wish to give to this last man the same as to you. 15 (A)Is it not lawful for me to do what I wish with my own things? Jesus a Third Time Predicts His Death and Resurrection(E)
17 (F)Now Jesus, going up to Jerusalem, took the twelve disciples aside on the road and said to them, 18 (G)“Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be betrayed to the chief priests and to the scribes; and they will condemn Him to death, 19 (H)and deliver Him to the Gentiles to (I)mock and to (J)scourge and to (K)crucify. And the third day He will (L)rise again.”
Greatness Is Serving(M)
20 (N)Then the mother of (O)Zebedee’s sons came to Him with her sons, kneeling down and asking something from Him.
21 And He said to her, “What do you wish?”
She said to Him, “Grant that these two sons of mine (P)may sit, one on Your right hand and the other on the left, in Your kingdom.”
22 But Jesus answered and said, “You do not know what you ask. Are you able to drink (Q)the cup that I am about to drink, [e]and be baptized with (R)the baptism that I am baptized with?”
They said to Him, “We are able.”
23 So He said to them, (S)“You will indeed drink My cup, [f]and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with; but to sit on My right hand and on My left is not Mine to give, but it is for those for whom it is prepared by My Father.”
24 (T)And when the ten heard it, they were greatly displeased with the two brothers. 25 But Jesus called them to Himself and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and those who are great exercise authority over them. 26 Yet (U)it shall not be so among you; but (V)whoever desires to become great among you, let him be your servant. 27 (W)And whoever desires to be first among you, let him be your slave— 28 (X)just as the (Y)Son of Man did not come to be served, (Z)but to serve, and (AA)to give His life a ransom (AB)for many.”
Two Blind Men Receive Their Sight(AC)
29 (AD)Now as they went out of Jericho, a great multitude followed Him. 30 And behold, (AE)two blind men sitting by the road, when they heard that Jesus was passing by, cried out, saying, “Have mercy on us, O Lord, (AF)Son of David!”
31 Then the multitude (AG)warned them that they should be quiet; but they cried out all the more, saying, “Have mercy on us, O Lord, Son of David!”
32 So Jesus stood still and called them, and said, “What do you want Me to do for you?”
33 They said to Him, “Lord, that our eyes may be opened.” 34 So Jesus had (AH)compassion and touched their eyes. And immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed Him.

I want to give the one who was hired last the same as I gave you. 15 Don’t I have the right to do what I want with my own money? Or are you envious because I am generous?’(G)
16 “So the last will be first, and the first will be last.”(H)
Jesus Predicts His Death a Third Time(I)
17 Now Jesus was going up to Jerusalem. On the way, he took the Twelve aside and said to them, 18 “We are going up to Jerusalem,(J) and the Son of Man(K) will be delivered over to the chief priests and the teachers of the law.(L) They will condemn him to death 19 and will hand him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and flogged(M) and crucified.(N) On the third day(O) he will be raised to life!”(P)
A Mother’s Request(Q)
20 Then the mother of Zebedee’s sons(R) came to Jesus with her sons and, kneeling down,(S) asked a favor of him.
21 “What is it you want?” he asked.
She said, “Grant that one of these two sons of mine may sit at your right and the other at your left in your kingdom.”(T)
22 “You don’t know what you are asking,” Jesus said to them. “Can you drink the cup(U) I am going to drink?”
“We can,” they answered.

Two Blind Men Receive Sight(AB)
29 As Jesus and his disciples were leaving Jericho, a large crowd followed him. 30 Two blind men were sitting by the roadside, and when they heard that Jesus was going by, they shouted, “Lord, Son of David,(AC) have mercy on us!”
31 The crowd rebuked them and told them to be quiet, but they shouted all the louder, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!”
32 Jesus stopped and called them. “What do you want me to do for you?” he asked.
33 “Lord,” they answered, “we want our sight.”
34 Jesus had compassion on them and touched their eyes. Immediately they received their sight and followed him.

7 Sinabi nila sa kanya, ‘Sapagkat walang umuupa sa amin.’ Sinabi niya sa kanila, ‘Pumunta rin kayo sa ubasan.’

14 Kunin mo ang para sa iyo at umalis ka na. Nais kong ibigay sa huling nagtrabaho ang kagaya ng ibinigay ko sa iyo.
15 Ako ba ay hindi pinahihintulutang gumawa ng nais ko sa mga bagay na pag-aari ko? O naiinggit ka ba[f] sapagkat ako'y mabuti?’
16 Kaya't(B) ang huli ay mauuna, at ang una ay mahuhuli.”[g]

17 Habang umaahon si Jesus patungo sa Jerusalem, ibinukod niya ang labindalawang alagad, at sa daan ay sinabi niya sa kanila,
18 “Narito, umaahon tayo patungong Jerusalem. Ibibigay ang Anak ng Tao sa mga punong pari at sa mga eskriba; at kanilang hahatulan siya ng kamatayan.
19 At kanilang ibibigay siya sa mga Hentil upang kutyain, hagupitin at ipako sa krus; at siya'y muling mabubuhay sa ikatlong araw.”

20 Pagkatapos ay lumapit kay Jesus[h] ang ina ng mga anak ni Zebedeo, na kasama ang kanyang mga anak na lalaki. Siya'y lumuhod sa kanya at may hiniling na isang bagay sa kanya.
21 At sinabi niya sa kanya, “Ano ang ibig mo?” Sinabi niya sa kanya, “Ipag-utos mo na itong dalawa kong anak ay umupo, ang isa sa iyong kanan, at ang isa sa iyong kaliwa, sa iyong kaharian.”
22 Ngunit sumagot si Jesus at sinabi, “Hindi ninyo nalalaman ang inyong hinihingi. Kaya ba ninyong inuman ang kopa na malapit ko nang inuman? Sinabi nila sa kanya, “Kaya namin.”
23 Sinabi niya sa kanila, “Talagang iinuman ninyo ang aking kopa, ngunit ang maupo sa aking kanan at sa aking kaliwa ay hindi ako ang magkakaloob, kundi iyon ay para sa kanila na pinaglalaanan ng aking Ama.”
24 Nang marinig ito ng sampu ay nagalit sila sa dalawang magkapatid.
25 Ngunit(E) tinawag sila ni Jesus at sinabi sa kanila, “Alam ninyo na ang mga pinuno ng mga Hentil ay nangingibabaw na panginoon sa kanila, at ang mga dakila sa kanila ay gumagamit ng kapangyarihan sa kanila.
26 Hindi(F) maaaring magkagayon sa inyo, kundi ang sinuman sa inyo na nagnanais maging dakila ay kailangang maging lingkod ninyo;
27 at sinuman sa inyo na nagnanais na maging una ay kailangang maging alipin ninyo,

29 Nang sila'y papalabas na sa Jerico, sumunod sa kanya ang napakaraming tao.
30 May dalawang lalaking bulag na nakaupo sa tabi ng lansangan. Nang marinig nilang nagdaraan si Jesus, sila'y sumigaw na nagsasabi, “Mahabag[i] ka sa amin, Anak ni David!”
31 Ngunit sinaway sila ng maraming tao upang sila'y tumahimik, ngunit lalo silang nagsisigaw na nagsasabi, “Mahabag ka sa amin Panginoon, Anak ni David!”
32 Tumigil si Jesus, at sila'y tinawag, at sinabi, “Anong nais ninyong gawin ko sa inyo?”
33 Sinabi nila sa kanya, “Panginoon, mabuksan nawa ang mga mata namin.”
34 Dahil sa habag ay hinipo ni Jesus ang kanilang mga mata. Kaagad, nakakita silang muli at sila'y sumunod sa kanya.
