13 耶稣听见了，就上船从那里独自退到野地里去。众人听见，就从各城里步行跟随他。 14 耶稣出来，见有许多的人，就怜悯他们，治好了他们的病人。 15 天将晚的时候，门徒进前来，说：“这是野地，时候已经过了，请叫众人散开，他们好往村子里去自己买吃的。” 16 耶稣说：“不用他们去，你们给他们吃吧！” 17 门徒说：“我们这里只有五个饼、两条鱼。” 18 耶稣说：“拿过来给我。” 19 于是吩咐众人坐在草地上，就拿着这五个饼、两条鱼，望着天祝福，掰开饼递给门徒，门徒又递给众人。 20 他们都吃，并且吃饱了。把剩下的零碎收拾起来，装满了十二个篮子。 21 吃的人，除了妇女孩子，约有五千。

22 耶稣随即催门徒上船，先渡到那边去，等他叫众人散开。 23 散了众人以后，他就独自上山去祷告。到了晚上，只有他一人在那里。 24 那时船在海中，因风不顺，被浪摇撼。 25 夜里四更天，耶稣在海面上走，往门徒那里去。 26 门徒看见他在海面上走，就惊慌了，说：“是个鬼怪！”便害怕，喊叫起来。 27 耶稣连忙对他们说：“你们放心！是我，不要怕！” 28 彼得说：“主，如果是你，请叫我从水面上走到你那里去。” 29 耶稣说：“你来吧！”彼得就从船上下去，在水面上走，要到耶稣那里去。 30 只因见风甚大，就害怕，将要沉下去，便喊着说：“主啊，救我！” 31 耶稣赶紧伸手拉住他，说：“你这小信的人哪，为什么疑惑呢？” 32 他们上了船，风就住了。 33 在船上的人都拜他，说：“你真是神的儿子了！”

The Death of John the Baptist
14 At that time Herod the ruler heard reports about Jesus,(A) 2 and he said to his servants, “This is John the Baptist; he has been raised from the dead, and for this reason these powers are at work in him.” 3 For Herod had arrested John, bound him, and put him in prison on account of Herodias, his brother Philip’s wife,(B) 4 because John had been telling him, “It is not lawful for you to have her.”(C) 5 Though Herod[a] wanted to put him to death, he feared the crowd, because they regarded him as a prophet.(D) 6 But when Herod’s birthday came, the daughter of Herodias danced before the company, and she pleased Herod 7 so much that he promised on oath to grant her whatever she might ask. 8 Prompted by her mother, she said, “Give me the head of John the Baptist here on a platter.” 9 The king was grieved, yet out of regard for his oaths and for the guests, he commanded it to be given; 10 he sent and had John beheaded in the prison. 11 His head was brought on a platter and given to the girl, who brought it to her mother. 12 His disciples came and took the body and buried him; then they went and told Jesus.
Feeding the Five Thousand
13 Now when Jesus heard this, he withdrew from there in a boat to a deserted place by himself. But when the crowds heard it, they followed him on foot from the towns. 14 When he went ashore, he saw a great crowd, and he had compassion for them and cured their sick.(E) 15 When it was evening, the disciples came to him and said, “This is a deserted place, and the hour is now late; send the crowds away so that they may go into the villages and buy food for themselves.” 16 Jesus said to them, “They need not go away; you give them something to eat.” 17 They replied, “We have nothing here but five loaves and two fish.”(F) 18 And he said, “Bring them here to me.” 19 Then he ordered the crowds to sit down on the grass. Taking the five loaves and the two fish, he looked up to heaven and blessed and broke the loaves and gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the crowds.(G) 20 And all ate and were filled, and they took up what was left over of the broken pieces, twelve baskets full. 21 And those who ate were about five thousand men, besides women and children.
Jesus Walks on the Water
22 Immediately he made the disciples get into a boat and go on ahead to the other side, while he dismissed the crowds. 23 And after he had dismissed the crowds, he went up the mountain by himself to pray. When evening came, he was there alone,(H) 24 but by this time the boat, battered by the waves, was far from the land,[b] for the wind was against them. 25 And early in the morning he came walking toward them on the sea. 26 But when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were terrified, saying, “It is a ghost!” And they cried out in fear.(I) 27 But immediately Jesus spoke to them and said, “Take heart, it is I; do not be afraid.”(J)
28 Peter answered him, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water.” 29 He said, “Come.” So Peter got out of the boat, started walking on the water, and came toward Jesus. 30 But when he noticed the strong wind,[c] he became frightened, and, beginning to sink, he cried out, “Lord, save me!” 31 Jesus immediately reached out his hand and caught him, saying to him, “You of little faith, why did you doubt?”(K) 32 When they got into the boat, the wind ceased. 33 And those in the boat worshiped him, saying, “Truly you are the Son of God.”(L)
Jesus Heals the Sick in Gennesaret
34 When they had crossed over, they came to land at Gennesaret. 35 After the people of that place recognized him, they sent word to that whole surrounding region, and people brought all who were sick to him 36 and begged him that they might touch even the fringe of his cloak, and all who touched it were healed.(M)

L’exécution de Jean-Baptiste(A)
14 A cette époque, Hérode, le gouverneur de la Galilée, entendit parler de Jésus.
2 – Cet homme, dit-il à ses courtisans, c’est sûrement Jean-Baptiste : le voilà ressuscité des morts ! C’est pour cela qu’il détient le pouvoir de faire des miracles.
3 En effet, Hérode avait ordonné d’arrêter Jean, l’avait fait enchaîner et jeter en prison, à cause d’Hérodiade, la femme de Philippe, son demi-frère, 4 parce qu’il lui disait : Tu n’as pas le droit de la prendre pour femme.
5 Hérode cherchait donc à le faire mourir. Mais il craignait la foule, car elle considérait Jean-Baptiste comme un prophète. 6 Or, le jour de l’anniversaire d’Hérode, la fille d’Hérodiade exécuta une danse devant les invités. Hérode était sous son charme : 7 aussi lui promit-il, avec serment, de lui donner tout ce qu’elle demanderait.
8 A l’instigation de sa mère, elle lui dit : Donne-moi ici, sur un plat, la tête de Jean-Baptiste.
9 Cette demande attrista le roi. Mais à cause de son serment et de ses invités, il donna l’ordre de la lui accorder. 10 Il envoya un soldat décapiter Jean-Baptiste dans la prison. 11 La tête de ce dernier fut apportée sur un plat et remise à la jeune fille qui la porta à sa mère. 12 Les disciples de Jean-Baptiste vinrent prendre son corps pour l’enterrer, puis ils allèrent informer Jésus de ce qui s’était passé.
Avec cinq pains et deux poissons(B)
13 Quand Jésus entendit la nouvelle, il quitta la contrée en bateau et se retira, à l’écart, dans un endroit désert. Mais les foules l’apprirent ; elles sortirent de leurs bourgades et le suivirent à pied. 14 Aussi, quand Jésus descendit du bateau, il vit une foule nombreuse. Alors il fut pris de compassion pour elle et guérit les malades.
15 Le soir venu, les disciples s’approchèrent de lui et lui dirent : Cet endroit est désert et il se fait tard ; renvoie donc ces gens pour qu’ils aillent dans les villages voisins s’acheter de la nourriture.
16 Mais Jésus leur dit : Ils n’ont pas besoin d’y aller : donnez-leur vous-mêmes à manger !
17 – Mais, lui répondirent-ils, nous n’avons ici que cinq pains et deux poissons.
18 – Apportez-les moi, leur dit Jésus.
19 Il ordonna à la foule de s’asseoir sur l’herbe, puis il prit les cinq pains et les deux poissons, il leva les yeux vers le ciel et prononça la prière de bénédiction ; ensuite, il partagea les pains et les donna aux disciples qui les distribuèrent à la foule.
20 Tout le monde mangea à satiété. On ramassa les morceaux qui restaient ; on en remplit douze paniers. 21 Ceux qui avaient mangé étaient au nombre de cinq mille hommes, sans compter les femmes et les enfants.
Jésus marche sur les eaux(C)
22 Aussitôt après, Jésus pressa ses disciples de remonter dans le bateau pour qu’ils le précèdent de l’autre côté du lac, pendant qu’il renverrait la foule. 23 Quand tout le monde se fut dispersé, il gravit une colline pour prier à l’écart. A la tombée de la nuit, il était là, tout seul.
24 Pendant ce temps, à plusieurs centaines de mètres au large, le bateau luttait contre les vagues, car le vent était contraire. 25 Vers la fin de la nuit, Jésus se dirigea vers ses disciples en marchant sur les eaux du lac. 26 Quand ils le virent marcher sur l’eau, ils furent pris de panique : C’est un fantôme, dirent-ils. Et ils se mirent à pousser des cris de frayeur.
27 Mais Jésus leur parla aussitôt : Rassurez-vous, leur dit-il, c’est moi, n’ayez pas peur !
28 Alors Pierre lui dit : Si c’est bien toi, Seigneur, ordonne-moi de venir te rejoindre sur l’eau.
29 – Viens, lui dit Jésus.
Aussitôt, Pierre descendit du bateau et se mit à marcher sur l’eau, en direction de Jésus. 30 Mais quand il remarqua combien le vent soufflait fort, il prit peur et, comme il commençait à s’enfoncer, il s’écria : Seigneur, sauve-moi !
31 Aussitôt, Jésus lui tendit la main et le saisit.
– Ta foi est bien petite ! lui dit-il, pourquoi as-tu douté ?
32 Puis ils montèrent tous deux dans le bateau ; le vent tomba.
33 Les hommes qui se trouvaient dans l’embarcation se prosternèrent devant lui en disant : Tu es vraiment le Fils de Dieu.
Les guérisons à Génésareth(D)
34 Après avoir traversé le lac, ils touchèrent terre à Génésareth[a]. 35 Quand les habitants du lieu eurent reconnu Jésus, ils firent prévenir tout le voisinage, et on lui amena tous les malades. 36 Ils le suppliaient de leur permettre simplement de toucher la frange de son vêtement. Et tous ceux qui la touchaient étaient guéris.

28 And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.
29 And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.
30 But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.
31 And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?
32 And when they were come into the ship, the wind ceased.
33 Then they that were in the ship came and worshipped him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God.
34 And when they were gone over, they came into the land of Gennesaret.
35 And when the men of that place had knowledge of him, they sent out into all that country round about, and brought unto him all that were diseased;
36 And besought him that they might only touch the hem of his garment: and as many as touched were made perfectly whole.
