18 以下是耶稣基督降生的经过。
耶稣的母亲玛丽亚和约瑟订了婚，还没有成亲就从圣灵怀了孕。 19 约瑟是个义人，不愿公开地羞辱她，便决定暗中和她解除婚约。 20 他正在考虑这事的时候，主的一位天使在梦中向他显现，说：“大卫的后裔约瑟，不要怕，把玛丽亚娶过来，因为她所怀的孕是从圣灵来的。 21 她将生一个儿子，你要给祂取名叫耶稣[a]，因为祂要把自己的子民从罪恶中救出来。”
22 这一切应验了主借着先知所说的话： 23 “必有童贞女怀孕生子，祂的名字要叫以马内利，意思是‘上帝与我们同在’。”

18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.
19 Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to put her away privily.
20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.
21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins.
22 Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,
23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
