在拿撒勒被拒绝
6 耶稣离开那地方，来到自己的家乡，他的门徒们也跟着他。 2 到了安息日，他开始在会堂里教导人。许多人听了就惊叹不已，说：“这个人从哪里得来这些呢？赐给这个人的到底是什么样的智慧？藉着他的手所行出来的到底是怎么样的神迹？ 3 这不就是那木匠吗？不就是玛丽亚的儿子，雅各、约西、犹大和西门的哥哥[a]吗？他的妹妹们[b]不也和我们在这里吗？”这样，他们就对耶稣很反感[c]。
4 耶稣对他们说：“先知除了在本乡、本族、本家以外，没有不受尊重的。” 5 所以，耶稣无法在那里行什么神迹，只是按手在几个病人身上，使他们痊愈。 6 因为他们的不信，耶稣十分感慨。
差派十二使徒
于是，他就走遍各村庄四处教导人。 7 耶稣召来十二使徒[d]，开始差派他们两个两个地出去，赐给他们权柄胜过污灵， 8 并且吩咐他们说：“在路上除了手杖什么都不要带。不要带食物，不要带行囊，腰包里也不要带钱。 9 要穿上鞋子。不要穿两件衣服[e]。” 10 他又对他们说：“无论在哪里，你们进了一家，就要住在哪里，直到离开那地方。 11 如果有什么地方的人不接受你们，也不听你们，你们离开那里的时候，要把脚底的尘土跺掉，做为对他们的见证。[f]”
12 使徒们就出去宣讲道：人人都当悔改。 13 他们驱赶了很多鬼魔，又用油来膏抹许多病人，使他们痊愈。
施洗约翰之死
14 耶稣的名声被传扬出去，希律王也听见了。有些人[g]说：“施洗者[h]约翰从死人中复活了，所以这些能力在他里面做工。” 15 也有些人说：“他是以利亚。”还有些人说：“他是个先知，像古代[i]先知中的一位。”
16 但希律听了却说：“是被我砍了头的约翰！这个人[j]复活了！” 17 原来，希律为了他弟弟[k]菲利普的妻子希罗迪娅的缘故，曾经派人去拘捕约翰，把他捆锁在监狱里。希律娶了这个女人， 18 而约翰一直对希律说：“你占有自己兄弟的妻子是不可以的。” 19 所以希罗迪娅对约翰怀恨在心，想要杀他，只是不能。 20 这是因为希律敬畏约翰，知道他是义人，是圣人，所以保护着他。希律听约翰讲说的时候，虽然心里十分困惑[l]，还是乐意听他的。
21 可是时机来了。希律在自己生日那天预备宴席，招待他的大臣和军官们，以及加利利的首领们。 22 希罗迪娅的女儿[m]进来跳舞，使希律和一同坐席的人都非常喜悦。王就对女孩说：“你无论想要什么，向我求，我就会给你。” 23 并且对她郑重地起誓：“你无论向我求什么，即使是我国家的一半，我也会给你！”
24 于是女孩出去问她母亲说：“我应该要什么呢？”
她母亲说：“要施洗者[n]约翰的头！”
25 女孩随即赶快进到王那里，要求说：“我愿王立即把施洗者[o]约翰的头放在盘子里给我。”
26 王就变得很忧愁，但因所起的誓，又因坐席的人，就不好拒绝她。 27 于是王立刻派了刽子手，命令把约翰的头拿来。刽子手就去，在监狱里砍下了约翰的头， 28 把他的头放在盘子上，端给女孩，女孩就把它交给了母亲。 29 约翰的门徒们听到了，就来把他的遗体领去，安放在坟墓里。
五饼二鱼
30 使徒们聚集到耶稣那里，把他们所做的和教导的一切告诉了他。 31 耶稣对他们说：“来，你们自己单独到一个荒僻的地方休息一会儿吧。”这是因为来往的人多，他们连吃饭的时间也没有。 32 于是他们悄悄地坐船出发，往一个荒僻的地方去。 33 可是众人[p]看见他们离开了，并且有许多人认出他们[q]，就从各城镇一起徒步赶往那里，而且比他们先到了[r]。 34 耶稣下了船，看见一大群人，就对他们动了怜悯之心，因为他们像羊没有牧人那样。耶稣就开始教导他们很多事。
35 天已经晚了，他的门徒们来到耶稣面前，说：“这是个荒僻的地方，而且天已经晚了。 36 请遣散大家，好让他们到周围的田舍和村庄去，为自己买些东西吃[s]。”
37 但耶稣回答他们，说：“你们给他们吃的吧。”
门徒们说：“要我们去买两百个银币[t]的饼给他们吃吗？”
38 耶稣问他们：“你们有多少饼呢？去看看。”
他们察看后，就说：“有五个，还有两条鱼。”
39 耶稣吩咐他们，叫众人一组一组地坐在青草地上。 40 众人就一群一群地坐了下来，有的一百人，有的五十人。 41 耶稣拿起这五个饼和两条鱼，抬头望天，祝福了，然后把饼掰开，不断递给他的门徒们，让他们分给众人。他把两条鱼也分给大家。 42 大家都吃了，并且吃饱了。 43 他们把饼和鱼的碎块收拾起来，装满了十二个篮子。 44 吃饼的人，男人就有五千。
在水面上行走
45 耶稣随即催促他的门徒们上船，要他们先往对岸的伯赛达去；这期间，他自己遣散了人群。 46 他告别了他们，就上山去祷告。 47 到了晚上，船在湖[u]中，只有耶稣一个人在岸上。 48 他看见门徒们由于逆风，划船非常艰苦。天快亮的时候[v]，耶稣在湖面上行走，向他们而去，想要从他们旁边走过去。 49 门徒们看见耶稣在湖面上行走，以为是幽灵，于是喊叫起来， 50 因为他们都看见了他，就惊慌不安。耶稣立刻与他们讲话，对他们说：“鼓起勇气吧！是我，不要怕。” 51 接着，耶稣上了船和他们在一起。这时候风就停了。门徒们心里感到极其惊讶[w]， 52 因为他们不领悟分[x]饼的事，他们还是硬着心。
在革尼撒勒治病
53 他们渡过去，到革尼撒勒上岸，把船拴好。 54 一下船，众人就认出了耶稣。 55 人们跑遍那整个地区，听到耶稣在哪里，就把有病的人用垫子抬到哪里。 56 无论耶稣进到哪里，或村庄、或城镇、或乡下，人们就把病人放在街市上，恳求耶稣只要让他们摸一下他的衣服穗子。凡是摸着的人，都得了救治。

Isus la Nazaret. Necredinţa locuitorilor
6 Isus a(A) plecat de acolo şi S-a dus în patria Lui. Ucenicii Lui au mers după El. 2 Când a venit ziua Sabatului, a început să înveţe pe norod în sinagogă. Mulţi, când Îl auzeau, se mirau şi ziceau: „De(B) unde are El aceste lucruri? Ce fel de înţelepciune este aceasta care I-a fost dată? Şi cum se fac astfel de minuni prin mâinile Lui? 3 Nu este acesta tâmplarul, feciorul Mariei, fratele(C) lui Iacov, al lui Iose, al lui Iuda şi al lui Simon? Şi nu sunt surorile Lui aici, între noi?” Şi găseau(D) o pricină de poticnire în El. 4 Dar Isus le-a zis: „Un proroc nu(E) este dispreţuit decât în patria Lui, între rudele Lui şi în casa Lui”. 5 N-a(F) putut să facă nicio minune acolo, ci doar Şi-a pus mâinile peste câţiva bolnavi şi i-a vindecat. 6 Şi se(G) mira de necredinţa lor.
Trimiterea celor doisprezece
Isus străbătea(H) satele de primprejur şi învăţa pe norod.
7 Atunci(I) a chemat la Sine pe cei doisprezece şi a început să-i trimită doi câte doi, dându-le putere asupra duhurilor necurate. 8 Le-a poruncit să nu ia nimic cu ei pe drum, decât un toiag; să n-aibă nici pâine, nici traistă, nici bani de aramă la brâu; 9 să(J) se încalţe cu sandale şi să nu se îmbrace cu două haine. 10 Apoi le-a zis: „În orice casă veţi intra, să rămâneţi acolo până veţi pleca din locul acela. 11 Şi(K), dacă în vreun loc nu vă vor primi şi nu vă vor asculta, să plecaţi de acolo şi să scuturaţi(L)îndată praful de sub picioarele voastre, ca mărturie pentru ei. Adevărat vă spun că, în ziua judecăţii, va fi mai uşor pentru pământul Sodomei şi Gomorei decât pentru cetatea aceea.” 12 Ucenicii au plecat şi au propovăduit pocăinţa. 13 Scoteau mulţi draci şi(M) ungeau cu untdelemn pe mulţi bolnavi şi-i vindecau.
Moartea lui Ioan Botezătorul
14 Împăratul Irod a auzit(N) vorbindu-se despre Isus, al cărui Nume ajunsese vestit, şi a zis: „Ioan Botezătorul a înviat din morţi, şi de aceea lucrează aceste puteri prin el”. 15 Alţii(O) ziceau: „Este Ilie”. Iar alţii ziceau: „Este un proroc ca unul din proroci”. 16 Dar(P) Irod, când a auzit lucrul acesta, zicea: „Ioan acela, căruia i-am tăiat capul, a înviat din morţi”. 17 Căci Irod însuşi trimisese să prindă pe Ioan şi-l legase în temniţă din pricina Irodiadei, nevasta fratelui său Filip, pentru că o luase de nevastă. 18 Şi Ioan zicea lui Irod: „Nu-ţi(Q) este îngăduit să ţii pe nevasta fratelui tău!” 19 Irodiada avea necaz pe Ioan şi voia să-l omoare. Dar nu putea, 20 căci Irod se temea(R) de Ioan, fiindcă îl ştia om neprihănit şi sfânt; îl ocrotea şi, când îl auzea, de multe ori sta în cumpănă, neştiind ce să facă, şi-l asculta cu plăcere. 21 Totuşi(S) a venit o zi cu bun prilej, când Irod îşi prăznuia ziua(T) naşterii şi a dat un ospăţ boierilor săi, mai-marilor oastei şi fruntaşilor Galileii. 22 Fata Irodiadei a intrat la ospăţ, a jucat şi a plăcut lui Irod şi oaspeţilor lui. Împăratul a zis fetei: „Cere-mi orice vrei, şi-ţi voi da”. 23 Apoi a adăugat cu jurământ: „Ori(U) ce-mi vei cere, îţi voi da, fie şi jumătate din împărăţia mea”. 24 Fata a ieşit afară şi a zis mamei sale: „Ce să cer?” Şi mamă-sa i-a răspuns: „Capul lui Ioan Botezătorul”. 25 Ea s-a grăbit să vină îndată la împărat şi i-a făcut următoarea cerere: „Vreau să-mi dai îndată, într-o farfurie, capul lui Ioan Botezătorul”. 26 Împăratul(V) s-a întristat foarte mult, dar, din pricina jurămintelor sale şi din pricina oaspeţilor, n-a vrut să zică nu. 27 A trimis îndată un ostaş de pază, cu porunca de a aduce capul lui Ioan Botezătorul. Ostaşul de pază s-a dus şi a tăiat capul lui Ioan în temniţă, 28 l-a adus pe o farfurie, l-a dat fetei, şi fata l-a dat mamei sale. 29 Ucenicii lui Ioan, când au auzit acest lucru, au venit de i-au ridicat trupul şi l-au pus într-un mormânt.
Înmulţirea pâinilor
30 Apostolii(W) s-au adunat la Isus şi I-au spus tot ce făcuseră şi tot ce învăţaseră pe oameni. 31 Isus(X) le-a zis: „Veniţi singuri la o parte, într-un loc pustiu, şi odihniţi-vă puţin”. Căci erau(Y) mulţi care veneau şi se duceau şi ei n-aveau vreme nici să mănânce. 32 Au(Z) plecat dar cu corabia, ca să se ducă într-un loc pustiu, la o parte. 33 Oamenii i-au văzut plecând şi i-au cunoscut; au alergat pe jos din toate cetăţile şi au venit înaintea lor în locul în care se duceau ei. 34 Când(AA) a ieşit din corabie, Isus a văzut mult norod şi I s-a făcut milă de ei, pentru că erau ca nişte oi care n-aveau păstor, şi a(AB) început să-i înveţe multe lucruri. 35 Fiindcă(AC) ziua era pe sfârşite, ucenicii s-au apropiat de El şi I-au zis: „Locul acesta este pustiu şi ziua este pe sfârşite. 36 Dă-le drumul să se ducă în cătunele şi satele de primprejur ca să-şi cumpere pâine, fiindcă n-au ce mânca.” 37 „Daţi-le voi să mănânce”, le-a răspuns Isus. Dar ei I-au zis: „Oare(AD) să ne ducem să cumpărăm pâini de două sute de lei şi să le dăm să mănânce?” 38 Şi El i-a întrebat: „Câte pâini aveţi? Duceţi-vă de vedeţi.” S-au dus de au văzut câte pâini au şi au răspuns: „Cinci(AE) şi doi peşti”. 39 Atunci le-a poruncit să-i aşeze pe toţi, cete-cete, pe iarba verde. 40 Şi au şezut jos în cete de câte o sută şi de câte cincizeci. 41 El a luat cele cinci pâini şi cei doi peşti. Şi-a ridicat ochii spre cer şi a rostit binecuvântarea(AF). Apoi a frânt pâinile şi le-a dat ucenicilor, ca ei să le împartă norodului. Asemenea şi cei doi peşti, i-a împărţit la toţi. 42 Au mâncat toţi şi s-au săturat; 43 şi au ridicat douăsprezece coşuri pline cu firimituri de pâine şi cu ce mai rămăsese din peşti. 44 Cei ce mâncaseră pâinile erau cinci mii de bărbaţi.
Isus umblă pe mare
45 Îndată(AG), Isus a silit pe ucenicii Săi să intre în corabie şi să treacă înaintea Lui de cealaltă parte, spre Betsaida. În timpul acesta, El avea să dea drumul norodului. 46 După ce Şi-a luat rămas-bun de la norod, S-a dus în munte ca să Se roage. 47 Când(AH) s-a înserat, corabia era în mijlocul mării, iar Isus era singur pe ţărm. 48 A văzut pe ucenici că se necăjesc cu vâslirea, căci vântul le era împotrivă. Şi, într-a patra strajă din noapte, a mers la ei umblând pe mare şi voia(AI) să treacă pe lângă ei. 49 Când L-au văzut ei umblând pe mare, li s-a părut că este o nălucă şi au ţipat, 50 pentru că toţi L-au văzut şi s-au înspăimântat. Isus a vorbit îndată cu ei şi le-a zis: „Îndrăzniţi, Eu sunt, nu vă temeţi!” 51 Apoi S-a suit la ei în corabie şi a stat vântul. Ei au rămas uimiţi şi înmărmuriţi, 52 căci nu(AJ) înţeleseseră minunea cu pâinile, fiindcă le era inima(AK) împietrită.
Vindecări la Ghenezaret
53 După(AL) ce au trecut marea, au venit în ţinutul Ghenezaretului şi au tras la mal. 54 Când au ieşit din corabie, oamenii au cunoscut îndată pe Isus, 55 au alergat prin toate împrejurimile şi au început să aducă pe bolnavi în paturi pretutindeni pe unde se auzea că era El. 56 Oriunde intra El, în sate, în cetăţi sau în cătune, puneau pe bolnavi pe pieţe şi-L rugau să le dea voie doar(AM) să se atingă de poalele hainei Lui. Şi toţi câţi se atingeau de El erau tămăduiţi.

2 And when the sabbath day was come, he began to teach in the synagogue: and many hearing him were astonished, saying, From whence hath this man these things? and what wisdom is this which is given unto him, that even such mighty works are wrought by his hands?
3 Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him.
4 But Jesus, said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house.
5 And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them.
6 And he marvelled because of their unbelief. And he went round about the villages, teaching.
7 And he called unto him the twelve, and began to send them forth by two and two; and gave them power over unclean spirits;
8 And commanded them that they should take nothing for their journey, save a staff only; no scrip, no bread, no money in their purse:
9 But be shod with sandals; and not put on two coats.
10 And he said unto them, In what place soever ye enter into an house, there abide till ye depart from that place.
11 And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when ye depart thence, shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony against them. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.
12 And they went out, and preached that men should repent.
13 And they cast out many devils, and anointed with oil many that were sick, and healed them.
14 And king Herod heard of him; (for his name was spread abroad:) and he said, That John the Baptist was risen from the dead, and therefore mighty works do shew forth themselves in him.
15 Others said, That it is Elias. And others said, That it is a prophet, or as one of the prophets.
16 But when Herod heard thereof, he said, It is John, whom I beheaded: he is risen from the dead.
17 For Herod himself had sent forth and laid hold upon John, and bound him in prison for Herodias' sake, his brother Philip's wife: for he had married her.
18 For John had said unto Herod, It is not lawful for thee to have thy brother's wife.
19 Therefore Herodias had a quarrel against him, and would have killed him; but she could not:
20 For Herod feared John, knowing that he was a just man and an holy, and observed him; and when he heard him, he did many things, and heard him gladly.
21 And when a convenient day was come, that Herod on his birthday made a supper to his lords, high captains, and chief estates of Galilee;
22 And when the daughter of the said Herodias came in, and danced, and pleased Herod and them that sat with him, the king said unto the damsel, Ask of me whatsoever thou wilt, and I will give it thee.
23 And he sware unto her, Whatsoever thou shalt ask of me, I will give it thee, unto the half of my kingdom.
24 And she went forth, and said unto her mother, What shall I ask? And she said, The head of John the Baptist.
25 And she came in straightway with haste unto the king, and asked, saying, I will that thou give me by and by in a charger the head of John the Baptist.
26 And the king was exceeding sorry; yet for his oath's sake, and for their sakes which sat with him, he would not reject her.
27 And immediately the king sent an executioner, and commanded his head to be brought: and he went and beheaded him in the prison,
28 And brought his head in a charger, and gave it to the damsel: and the damsel gave it to her mother.
29 And when his disciples heard of it, they came and took up his corpse, and laid it in a tomb.
30 And the apostles gathered themselves together unto Jesus, and told him all things, both what they had done, and what they had taught.
31 And he said unto them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while: for there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat.
32 And they departed into a desert place by ship privately.
33 And the people saw them departing, and many knew him, and ran afoot thither out of all cities, and outwent them, and came together unto him.
34 And Jesus, when he came out, saw much people, and was moved with compassion toward them, because they were as sheep not having a shepherd: and he began to teach them many things.
35 And when the day was now far spent, his disciples came unto him, and said, This is a desert place, and now the time is far passed:
36 Send them away, that they may go into the country round about, and into the villages, and buy themselves bread: for they have nothing to eat.
37 He answered and said unto them, Give ye them to eat. And they say unto him, Shall we go and buy two hundred pennyworth of bread, and give them to eat?
38 He saith unto them, How many loaves have ye? go and see. And when they knew, they say, Five, and two fishes.
39 And he commanded them to make all sit down by companies upon the green grass.
40 And they sat down in ranks, by hundreds, and by fifties.
41 And when he had taken the five loaves and the two fishes, he looked up to heaven, and blessed, and brake the loaves, and gave them to his disciples to set before them; and the two fishes divided he among them all.
42 And they did all eat, and were filled.
43 And they took up twelve baskets full of the fragments, and of the fishes.
44 And they that did eat of the loaves were about five thousand men.
45 And straightway he constrained his disciples to get into the ship, and to go to the other side before unto Bethsaida, while he sent away the people.
46 And when he had sent them away, he departed into a mountain to pray.
47 And when even was come, the ship was in the midst of the sea, and he alone on the land.
48 And he saw them toiling in rowing; for the wind was contrary unto them: and about the fourth watch of the night he cometh unto them, walking upon the sea, and would have passed by them.
49 But when they saw him walking upon the sea, they supposed it had been a spirit, and cried out:
50 For they all saw him, and were troubled. And immediately he talked with them, and saith unto them, Be of good cheer: it is I; be not afraid.
51 And he went up unto them into the ship; and the wind ceased: and they were sore amazed in themselves beyond measure, and wondered.
52 For they considered not the miracle of the loaves: for their heart was hardened.
53 And when they had passed over, they came into the land of Gennesaret, and drew to the shore.
54 And when they were come out of the ship, straightway they knew him,
55 And ran through that whole region round about, and began to carry about in beds those that were sick, where they heard he was.
56 And whithersoever he entered, into villages, or cities, or country, they laid the sick in the streets, and besought him that they might touch if it were but the border of his garment: and as many as touched him were made whole.

A Prophet Without Honor(A)
6 Jesus left there and went to his hometown,(B) accompanied by his disciples. 2 When the Sabbath came,(C) he began to teach in the synagogue,(D) and many who heard him were amazed.(E)
“Where did this man get these things?” they asked. “What’s this wisdom that has been given him? What are these remarkable miracles he is performing? 3 Isn’t this the carpenter? Isn’t this Mary’s son and the brother of James, Joseph,[a] Judas and Simon?(F) Aren’t his sisters here with us?” And they took offense at him.(G)
4 Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own town, among his relatives and in his own home.”(H) 5 He could not do any miracles there, except lay his hands on(I) a few sick people and heal them. 6 He was amazed at their lack of faith.
Jesus Sends Out the Twelve(J)
Then Jesus went around teaching from village to village.(K) 7 Calling the Twelve to him,(L) he began to send them out two by two(M) and gave them authority over impure spirits.(N)
8 These were his instructions: “Take nothing for the journey except a staff—no bread, no bag, no money in your belts. 9 Wear sandals but not an extra shirt. 10 Whenever you enter a house, stay there until you leave that town. 11 And if any place will not welcome you or listen to you, leave that place and shake the dust off your feet(O) as a testimony against them.”
12 They went out and preached that people should repent.(P) 13 They drove out many demons and anointed many sick people with oil(Q) and healed them.

14 King Herod heard about this, for Jesus’ name had become well known. Some were saying,[b] “John the Baptist(T) has been raised from the dead, and that is why miraculous powers are at work in him.”
15 Others said, “He is Elijah.”(U)
And still others claimed, “He is a prophet,(V) like one of the prophets of long ago.”(W)
16 But when Herod heard this, he said, “John, whom I beheaded, has been raised from the dead!”
17 For Herod himself had given orders to have John arrested, and he had him bound and put in prison.(X) He did this because of Herodias, his brother Philip’s wife, whom he had married. 18 For John had been saying to Herod, “It is not lawful for you to have your brother’s wife.”(Y) 19 So Herodias nursed a grudge against John and wanted to kill him. But she was not able to, 20 because Herod feared John and protected him, knowing him to be a righteous and holy man.(Z) When Herod heard John, he was greatly puzzled[c]; yet he liked to listen to him.
21 Finally the opportune time came. On his birthday Herod gave a banquet(AA) for his high officials and military commanders and the leading men of Galilee.(AB) 22 When the daughter of[d] Herodias came in and danced, she pleased Herod and his dinner guests.
The king said to the girl, “Ask me for anything you want, and I’ll give it to you.” 23 And he promised her with an oath, “Whatever you ask I will give you, up to half my kingdom.”(AC)
24 She went out and said to her mother, “What shall I ask for?”
“The head of John the Baptist,” she answered.
25 At once the girl hurried in to the king with the request: “I want you to give me right now the head of John the Baptist on a platter.”
26 The king was greatly distressed, but because of his oaths and his dinner guests, he did not want to refuse her. 27 So he immediately sent an executioner with orders to bring John’s head. The man went, beheaded John in the prison, 28 and brought back his head on a platter. He presented it to the girl, and she gave it to her mother. 29 On hearing of this, John’s disciples came and took his body and laid it in a tomb.
Jesus Feeds the Five Thousand(AD)(AE)
30 The apostles(AF) gathered around Jesus and reported to him all they had done and taught.(AG) 31 Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat,(AH) he said to them, “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.”
32 So they went away by themselves in a boat(AI) to a solitary place. 33 But many who saw them leaving recognized them and ran on foot from all the towns and got there ahead of them. 34 When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd.(AJ) So he began teaching them many things.
35 By this time it was late in the day, so his disciples came to him. “This is a remote place,” they said, “and it’s already very late. 36 Send the people away so that they can go to the surrounding countryside and villages and buy themselves something to eat.”
37 But he answered, “You give them something to eat.”(AK)
They said to him, “That would take more than half a year’s wages[e]! Are we to go and spend that much on bread and give it to them to eat?”
38 “How many loaves do you have?” he asked. “Go and see.”
When they found out, they said, “Five—and two fish.”(AL)
39 Then Jesus directed them to have all the people sit down in groups on the green grass. 40 So they sat down in groups of hundreds and fifties. 41 Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves.(AM) Then he gave them to his disciples to distribute to the people. He also divided the two fish among them all. 42 They all ate and were satisfied, 43 and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces of bread and fish. 44 The number of the men who had eaten was five thousand.
Jesus Walks on the Water(AN)(AO)
45 Immediately Jesus made his disciples get into the boat(AP) and go on ahead of him to Bethsaida,(AQ) while he dismissed the crowd. 46 After leaving them, he went up on a mountainside to pray.(AR)
47 Later that night, the boat was in the middle of the lake, and he was alone on land. 48 He saw the disciples straining at the oars, because the wind was against them. Shortly before dawn he went out to them, walking on the lake. He was about to pass by them, 49 but when they saw him walking on the lake, they thought he was a ghost.(AS) They cried out, 50 because they all saw him and were terrified.
Immediately he spoke to them and said, “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.”(AT) 51 Then he climbed into the boat(AU) with them, and the wind died down.(AV) They were completely amazed, 52 for they had not understood about the loaves; their hearts were hardened.(AW)
53 When they had crossed over, they landed at Gennesaret and anchored there.(AX) 54 As soon as they got out of the boat, people recognized Jesus. 55 They ran throughout that whole region and carried the sick on mats to wherever they heard he was. 56 And wherever he went—into villages, towns or countryside—they placed the sick in the marketplaces. They begged him to let them touch even the edge of his cloak,(AY) and all who touched it were healed.

Jesús enseña en Nazaret
6 (A)Él se marchó de allí y llegó* a su pueblo(B); y sus discípulos le siguieron*. 2 Cuando llegó el día de reposo, comenzó a enseñar en la sinagoga(C); y muchos que le escuchaban se asombraban(D), diciendo: ¿Dónde obtuvo este tales[a] cosas, y cuál es esta sabiduría que le ha sido dada, y estos milagros[b] que hace con sus manos? 3 ¿No es este el carpintero, el hijo de María, y hermano(E) de Jacobo[c], José, Judas y Simón(F)? ¿No están sus hermanas(G) aquí con nosotros? Y se escandalizaban a causa de Él(H). 4 Y Jesús les dijo: No hay profeta sin honra sino en su propia tierra(I), y entre sus parientes, y en su casa(J). 5 Y no pudo hacer allí ningún milagro[d]; solo sanó a unos pocos enfermos sobre los cuales puso sus manos(K). 6 Y estaba maravillado de la incredulidad de ellos.
Y recorría las aldeas de alrededor enseñando(L).

7 (M)Entonces llamó* a los doce(N) y comenzó a enviarlos de dos en dos(O), dándoles autoridad sobre los espíritus inmundos; 8 y les ordenó que no llevaran nada para el camino(P), sino solo un bordón; ni pan, ni alforja[e], ni dinero en el cinto; 9 sino calzados con sandalias. No llevéis dos túnicas[f] 10 —les dijo— y dondequiera que entréis en una casa, quedaos allí hasta que salgáis de la población[g]. 11 Y en cualquier lugar que no os reciban ni os escuchen, al salir de allí, sacudid el polvo de la planta[h] de vuestros pies(Q) en testimonio contra ellos. 12 Y saliendo, predicaban[i](R) que todos se arrepintieran. 13 Y echaban fuera muchos demonios, y ungían con aceite a muchos enfermos y los sanaban(S).
Muerte de Juan el Bautista
14 (T)El rey Herodes se enteró[j] de esto, pues el nombre de Jesús[k] se había hecho célebre, y la gente decía: Juan el Bautista(U) ha resucitado de entre los muertos, por eso es que estos poderes milagrosos actúan en él. 15 Pero otros decían: Es Elías. Y decían otros: Es un profeta, como uno de los profetas antiguos(V). 16 Y al oír esto Herodes, decía: Juan, a quien yo decapité, ha resucitado. 17 Porque Herodes mismo había enviado a prender a Juan y lo había encadenado en la cárcel por causa de Herodías, mujer de su hermano Felipe(W), pues Herodes se había casado con ella. 18 Porque Juan le decía a Herodes: No te es lícito tener la mujer de tu hermano(X). 19 Y Herodías(Y) le tenía rencor y deseaba matarlo, pero no podía, 20 porque Herodes temía a Juan, sabiendo que era un hombre justo y santo(Z), y lo mantenía protegido. Y cuando le oía se quedaba muy perplejo, pero le gustaba escucharlo[l]. 21 Pero llegó un día oportuno, cuando Herodes, siendo su cumpleaños, ofreció un banquete(AA) a sus nobles y comandantes[m] y a los principales de Galilea(AB); 22 y cuando la hija misma de Herodías(AC) entró y danzó, agradó a Herodes y a los que se sentaban[n] a la mesa con él; y el rey dijo a la muchacha: Pídeme lo que quieras y te lo daré. 23 Y le juró: Te daré lo que me pidas, hasta la mitad de mi reino(AD). 24 Ella salió y dijo a su madre: ¿Qué pediré? Y ella le respondió: La cabeza de Juan el Bautista. 25 Enseguida ella se presentó apresuradamente ante el rey con su petición[o], diciendo: Quiero que me des ahora mismo la cabeza de Juan el Bautista en una bandeja. 26 Y aunque el rey se puso muy triste, sin embargo a causa de sus juramentos y de los que se sentaban[p] con él a la mesa, no quiso desairarla. 27 Y al instante el rey envió a un verdugo y le ordenó que trajera la cabeza de Juan[q]. Y él fue y lo decapitó en la cárcel, 28 y trajo su cabeza en una bandeja, y se la dio a la muchacha, y la muchacha se la dio a su madre. 29 Cuando sus discípulos oyeron esto, fueron y se llevaron el cuerpo y le dieron sepultura[r].
Alimentación de los cinco mil
30 Los apóstoles(AE) se reunieron* con Jesús, y le informaron sobre todo lo que habían hecho y enseñado(AF). 31 Y Él les dijo*: Venid, apartaos de los demás a un lugar solitario y descansad un poco. (Porque había muchos que iban y venían, y ellos no tenían tiempo ni siquiera para comer(AG).) 32 (AH)Y se fueron en la barca a un lugar solitario, apartado(AI). 33 Pero la gente los vio partir, y muchos los reconocieron y juntos corrieron allá a pie de todas las ciudades, y llegaron antes que ellos. 34 Al desembarcar[s], Él vio una gran multitud, y tuvo compasión de ellos, porque eran como ovejas sin pastor(AJ); y comenzó a enseñarles muchas cosas. 35 Y cuando era ya muy tarde, sus discípulos se le acercaron, diciendo: El lugar está desierto y ya es muy tarde; 36 despídelos para que vayan a los campos y aldeas de alrededor, y se compren algo de comer[t]. 37 Pero respondiendo Él, les dijo: Dadles vosotros de comer. Y ellos le dijeron*: ¿Quieres que vayamos y compremos doscientos denarios[u](AK) de pan y les demos de comer(AL)? 38 Y Él les dijo*: ¿Cuántos panes tenéis? Id y ved. Y cuando se cercioraron le dijeron*: Cinco, y dos peces. 39 Y les mandó que todos se recostaran por grupos sobre la hierba verde. 40 Y se recostaron por grupos de cien y de cincuenta. 41 Entonces Él tomó los cinco panes y los dos peces, y levantando los ojos al cielo, los bendijo, y partió los panes y los iba dando a los discípulos para que se los sirvieran[v](AM); también repartió los dos peces entre todos. 42 Todos comieron y se saciaron. 43 Y recogieron doce cestas llenas de los pedazos(AN), y también de los peces. 44 Los que comieron los panes eran cinco mil hombres(AO).
Jesús anda sobre el mar
45 (AP)Enseguida hizo que sus discípulos subieran a la barca(AQ) y fueran delante de Él al otro lado, a Betsaida(AR), mientras Él despedía a la multitud. 46 Y después de despedirse de ellos(AS), se fue al monte a orar(AT). 47 Al anochecer, la barca estaba en medio del mar, y Él estaba solo en tierra. 48 Y al verlos remar fatigados, porque el viento les era contrario, como a la cuarta vigilia[w] de la noche(AU), fue* hacia ellos andando sobre el mar, y quería pasarles de largo. 49 Pero cuando ellos le vieron andando sobre el mar, pensaron que era un fantasma y se pusieron a gritar; 50 porque todos le vieron y se turbaron. Pero enseguida Él habló con ellos y les dijo*: ¡Tened ánimo(AV); soy yo, no temáis(AW)! 51 Y subió con ellos a la barca(AX), y el viento se calmó; y ellos estaban asombrados en gran manera, 52 porque no habían entendido lo de[x] los panes, sino que su mente estaba embotada[y](AY).
Jesús en Genesaret
53 (AZ)Terminada la travesía, llegaron a tierra en Genesaret, y atracaron. 54 Cuando salieron de la barca, enseguida la gente reconoció a Jesús[z], 55 y recorrieron apresuradamente toda aquella comarca, y comenzaron a traer a los enfermos en sus camillas adonde oían decir que Él estaba. 56 Y dondequiera que Él entraba en aldeas, ciudades o campos, ponían a los enfermos en las plazas, y le rogaban que les permitiera tocar(BA) siquiera el borde de su manto(BB); y todos los que lo tocaban quedaban curados[aa].
