³⁷於是他不許別人跟他一起去，只帶了彼得、雅各和雅各的弟弟約翰。 ³⁸他們來到會堂主管的家，耶穌看見許多人哭泣哀號，一片混亂， ³⁹就走進去，對眾人說：“為甚麼大哭大嚷呢？孩子不是死了，是睡著了。”

³⁷He did not let anyone follow him except Peter, James and John the brother of James.^(A) ³⁸When they came to the home of the synagogue leader,^(B) Jesus saw a commotion, with people crying and wailing loudly. ³⁹He went in and said to them, “Why all this commotion and wailing? The child is not dead but asleep.”^(C)
