撒种的比喻(A)
4 耶稣又在海边教导人。有一大群人聚集到他那里，因此他上船坐下来。船在海中，群众都朝着海站在岸上。 2 他用比喻教训他们许多事，在教训中他说： 3 “你们听着！有一个撒种的出去撒种， 4 撒的时候，有的落在路旁，小鸟飞来就吃掉了。 5 有的落在泥土不多的石地上，因为泥土不深，很快就长起来。 6 但太阳一出来，就把它晒干，又因为没有根就枯萎了。 7 有的落在荆棘里，荆棘长起来，把它挤住，它就结不出果实来。 8 有的落在好土里，就生长繁茂，结出果实，有三十倍的、有六十倍的、有一百倍的。” 9 耶稣又说：“有耳可听的，就应当听。”
用比喻的目的(B)
10 耶稣独自一人的时候，那些经常跟着他的人和十二门徒，来问这些比喻的意义。 11 耶稣对他们说：“ 神的国的奥秘，只给你们知道，但对于外人，一切都用比喻， 12 叫他们
‘看是看见了，却不领悟，
听是听见了，却不明白，
免得他们回转过来，得到赦免。’”
解释撒种的比喻(C)
13 耶稣又对他们说：“你们不明白这个比喻，怎能明白一切比喻呢？ 14 撒种的人所撒的就是道。 15 那撒在路旁的，就是人听了道，撒但立刻来，把撒在他心里的道夺去。 16 照样，那撒在石地上的，就是人听了道，立刻欢欢喜喜地接受了； 17 可是他们里面没有根，只是暂时的；一旦为道遭遇患难，受到迫害，就立刻跌倒了。 18 那撒在荆棘里的，是指另一些人；他们听了道， 19 然而今世的忧虑、财富的迷惑，以及种种的欲望，接连进来，把道挤住，就结不出果实来。 20 那撒在好土里的，就是人听了道，接受了，并且结出果实，有三十倍的、有六十倍的、有一百倍的。”
隐藏的事终必显露(D)
21 耶稣又对他们说：“灯难道是拿来放在量器底下或床底下的吗？它不是该放在灯台上吗？ 22 因为没有甚么隐藏的事不被显明出来，没有甚么掩盖的事不被揭露的。 23 有耳可听的，就应当听。”
24 耶稣又对他们说：“要留心你们所听到的，你们用甚么尺度量给人， 神也要用甚么尺度量给你们，并且要超过尺度给你们。 25 因为那有的，还要给他；那没有的，就算他有甚么也要拿去。”
种子发芽生长的比喻
26 耶稣说：“ 神的国好象人在地里撒种， 27 他夜里睡觉，白天起来，种子发芽生长，自己也不知道怎么会这样的。 28 地生五谷是自然的，先长苗，后吐穗，最后穗上结满了子粒。 29 庄稼熟了，就派人用镰刀割下，因为收成的时候到了。”
芥菜种的比喻(E)
30 又说：“我们要把 神的国比作甚么呢？我们可以用甚么比喻来形容它呢？ 31 它好象一粒芥菜种，刚种下去的时候，比地上的一切种子都小， 32 种下以后，生长起来，却比一切蔬菜都大，长出大枝子，甚至天空的飞鸟都可以在它的荫下搭窝。”
33 耶稣用许多这样的比喻，照着他们所能听懂的，向他们讲道； 34 不用比喻，就不对他们讲。只有单独和自己的门徒在一起的时候，才把一切解释给他们听。
平静风浪(F)
35 当天黄昏，耶稣对门徒说：“我们渡到海那边去吧。” 36 门徒离开群众，耶稣已经在船上，他们就载他过去，也有别的船和他同去。 37 忽然起了狂风，波浪不断地打进船来，舱里积满了水。 38 耶稣却在船尾靠着枕头睡着了。门徒把他叫醒，对他说：“老师，我们要死了，你不管吗？” 39 耶稣起来，斥责了风，又对海说：“不要作声！安静吧！”风就停止，大大地平静了。 40 然后对他们说：“为甚么这样胆怯呢？你们怎么没有信心呢？” 41 门徒非常惧怕，彼此说：“这到底是谁，连风和海都听从他？”

A Story about a Farmer(A)
4 Jesus began to teach again by the Sea of Galilee. A very large crowd gathered around him, so he got into a boat and sat in it. The boat was in the water while the entire crowd lined the shore. 2 He used stories as illustrations to teach them many things.
While he was teaching them, he said, 3 “Listen! A farmer went to plant seed. 4 Some seeds were planted along the road, and birds came and devoured them. 5 Other seeds were planted on rocky ground, where there wasn’t much soil. The plants sprouted quickly because the soil wasn’t deep. 6 When the sun came up, they were scorched. They didn’t have any roots, so they withered. 7 Other seeds were planted among thornbushes. The thornbushes grew up and choked them, and they didn’t produce anything. 8 But other seeds were planted on good ground, sprouted, and produced thirty, sixty, or one hundred times as much as was planted.” 9 He added, “Let the person who has ears listen!”
10 When he was alone with his followers and the twelve apostles, they asked him about the stories.
11 Jesus replied to them, “The mystery about God’s kingdom has been given ⌞directly⌟ to you. To those on the outside, it is given in stories:
12 ‘They see clearly but don’t perceive.
They hear clearly but don’t understand.
They never return to me
and are never forgiven.’ ”
13 Jesus asked them, “Don’t you understand this story? How, then, will you understand any of the stories I use as illustrations?
14 “The farmer plants the word. 15 Some people are like seeds that were planted along the road. Whenever they hear the word, Satan comes at once and takes away the word that was planted in them. 16 Other people are like seeds that were planted on rocky ground. Whenever they hear the word, they accept it at once with joy. 17 But they don’t develop any roots. They last for a short time. When suffering or persecution comes along because of the word, they immediately fall ⌞from faith⌟. 18 Other people are like seeds planted among thornbushes. They hear the word, 19 but the worries of life, the deceitful pleasures of riches, and the desires for other things take over. They choke the word so that it can’t produce anything. 20 Others are like seeds planted on good ground. They hear the word, accept it, and produce crops—thirty, sixty, or one hundred times as much as was planted.”
A Story about a Lamp
21 Jesus said to them, “Does anyone bring a lamp into a room to put it under a basket or under a bed? Isn’t it put on a lamp stand? 22 There is nothing hidden that will not be revealed. There is nothing kept secret that will not come to light. 23 Let the person who has ears listen!”
24 He went on to say, “Pay attention to what you’re listening to! ⌞Knowledge⌟ will be measured out to you by the measure ⌞of attention⌟ you give. This is the way knowledge increases. 25 Those who understand ⌞these mysteries⌟ will be given ⌞more knowledge⌟. However, some people don’t understand ⌞these mysteries⌟. Even what they understand will be taken away from them.”
A Story about Seeds That Grow
26 Jesus said, “The kingdom of God is like a man who scatters seeds on the ground. 27 He sleeps at night and is awake during the day. The seeds sprout and grow, although the man doesn’t know how. 28 The ground produces grain by itself. First the green blade appears, then the head, then the head full of grain. 29 As soon as the grain is ready, he cuts it with a sickle, because harvest time has come.”
A Story about a Mustard Seed(B)
30 Jesus asked, “How can we show what God’s kingdom is like? To what can we compare it? 31 It’s like a mustard seed planted in the ground. The mustard seed is one of the smallest seeds on earth. 32 However, when planted, it comes up and becomes taller than all the garden plants. It grows such large branches that birds can nest in its shade.”
33 Jesus spoke ⌞God’s⌟ word to them using many illustrations like these. In this way people could understand what he taught. 34 He did not speak to them without using an illustration. But when he was alone with his disciples, he explained everything to them.
Jesus Calms the Sea(C)
35 That evening, Jesus said to his disciples, “Let’s cross to the other side.”
36 Leaving the crowd, they took Jesus along in a boat just as he was. Other boats were with him.
37 A violent windstorm came up. The waves were breaking into the boat so that it was quickly filling up. 38 But he was sleeping on a cushion in the back of the boat.
So they woke him up and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care that we’re going to die?”
39 Then he got up, ordered the wind to stop, and said to the sea, “Be still, absolutely still!” The wind stopped blowing, and the sea became very calm.
40 He asked them, “Why are you such cowards? Don’t you have any faith yet?”
41 They were overcome with fear and asked each other, “Who is this man? Even the wind and the sea obey him!”

A Parábola do Semeador(A)
4 Novamente Jesus começou a ensinar à beira-mar. Reuniu-se ao seu redor uma multidão tão grande que ele teve que entrar num barco e assentar-se nele. O barco estava no mar, enquanto todo o povo ficava na beira da praia. 2 Ele lhes ensinava muitas coisas por parábolas, dizendo em seu ensino: 3 “Ouçam! O semeador saiu a semear. 4 Enquanto lançava a semente, parte dela caiu à beira do caminho, e as aves vieram e a comeram. 5 Parte dela caiu em terreno pedregoso, onde não havia muita terra; e logo brotou, porque a terra não era profunda. 6 Mas quando saiu o sol, as plantas se queimaram e secaram, porque não tinham raiz. 7 Outra parte caiu entre espinhos, que cresceram e sufocaram as plantas, de forma que ela não deu fruto. 8 Outra ainda caiu em boa terra, germinou, cresceu e deu boa colheita, a trinta, sessenta e até cem por um”.
9 E acrescentou: “Aquele que tem ouvidos para ouvir, ouça!”
10 Quando ele ficou sozinho, os Doze e os outros que estavam ao seu redor lhe fizeram perguntas acerca das parábolas. 11 Ele lhes disse: “A vocês foi dado o mistério do Reino de Deus, mas aos que estão fora tudo é dito por parábolas, 12 a fim de que,
“‘ainda que vejam,
não percebam;
ainda que ouçam,
não entendam;
de outro modo,
poderiam converter-se
e ser perdoados!’[a]”
13 Então Jesus lhes perguntou: “Vocês não entendem esta parábola? Como, então, compreenderão todas as outras? 14 O semeador semeia a palavra. 15 Algumas pessoas são como a semente à beira do caminho, onde a palavra é semeada. Logo que a ouvem, Satanás vem e retira a palavra nelas semeada. 16 Outras, como a semente lançada em terreno pedregoso, ouvem a palavra e logo a recebem com alegria. 17 Todavia, visto que não têm raiz em si mesmas, permanecem por pouco tempo. Quando surge alguma tribulação ou perseguição por causa da palavra, logo a abandonam. 18 Outras ainda, como a semente lançada entre espinhos, ouvem a palavra; 19 mas, quando chegam as preocupações desta vida, o engano das riquezas e os anseios por outras coisas sufocam a palavra, tornando-a infrutífera. 20 Outras pessoas são como a semente lançada em boa terra: ouvem a palavra, aceitam-na e dão uma colheita de trinta, sessenta e até cem por um”.
A Candeia(B)
21 Ele lhes disse: “Quem traz uma candeia para ser colocada debaixo de uma vasilha ou de uma cama? Acaso não a coloca num lugar apropriado? 22 Porque não há nada oculto, senão para ser revelado, e nada escondido, senão para ser trazido à luz. 23 Se alguém tem ouvidos para ouvir, ouça!
24 “Considerem atentamente o que vocês estão ouvindo”, continuou ele. “Com a medida com que medirem, vocês serão medidos; e ainda mais lhes acrescentarão. 25 A quem tiver, mais lhe será dado; de quem não tiver, até o que tem lhe será tirado”.
A Parábola da Semente
26 Ele prosseguiu dizendo: “O Reino de Deus é semelhante a um homem que lança a semente sobre a terra. 27 Noite e dia, estando ele dormindo ou acordado, a semente germina e cresce, embora ele não saiba como. 28 A terra por si própria produz o grão: primeiro o talo, depois a espiga e, então, o grão cheio na espiga. 29 Logo que o grão fica maduro, o homem lhe passa a foice, porque chegou a colheita”.
A Parábola do Grão de Mostarda(C)
30 Novamente ele disse: “Com que compararemos o Reino de Deus? Que parábola usaremos para descrevê-lo? 31 É como um grão de mostarda, que é a menor semente que se planta na terra. 32 No entanto, uma vez plantado, cresce e se torna a maior de todas as hortaliças, com ramos tão grandes que as aves do céu podem abrigar-se à sua sombra”.
33 Com muitas parábolas semelhantes Jesus lhes anunciava a palavra, tanto quanto podiam receber. 34 Não lhes dizia nada sem usar alguma parábola. Quando, porém, estava a sós com os seus discípulos, explicava-lhes tudo.
Jesus Acalma a Tempestade(D)
35 Naquele dia, ao anoitecer, disse ele aos seus discípulos: “Vamos para o outro lado”. 36 Deixando a multidão, eles o levaram no barco, assim como estava. Outros barcos também o acompanhavam. 37 Levantou-se um forte vendaval, e as ondas se lançavam sobre o barco, de forma que este foi se enchendo de água. 38 Jesus estava na popa, dormindo com a cabeça sobre um travesseiro. Os discípulos o acordaram e clamaram: “Mestre, não te importas que morramos?”
39 Ele se levantou, repreendeu o vento e disse ao mar: “Aquiete-se! Acalme-se!” O vento se aquietou, e fez-se completa bonança.
40 Então perguntou aos seus discípulos: “Por que vocês estão com tanto medo? Ainda não têm fé?”
41 Eles estavam apavorados e perguntavam uns aos outros: “Quem é este que até o vento e o mar lhe obedecem?”

The Parable of the Sower(A)(B)
4 Again Jesus began to teach by the lake.(C) The crowd that gathered around him was so large that he got into a boat and sat in it out on the lake, while all the people were along the shore at the water’s edge. 2 He taught them many things by parables,(D) and in his teaching said: 3 “Listen! A farmer went out to sow his seed.(E) 4 As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up. 5 Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow. 6 But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root. 7 Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants, so that they did not bear grain. 8 Still other seed fell on good soil. It came up, grew and produced a crop, some multiplying thirty, some sixty, some a hundred times.”(F)
9 Then Jesus said, “Whoever has ears to hear, let them hear.”(G)
10 When he was alone, the Twelve and the others around him asked him about the parables. 11 He told them, “The secret of the kingdom of God(H) has been given to you. But to those on the outside(I) everything is said in parables 12 so that,
“‘they may be ever seeing but never perceiving,
and ever hearing but never understanding;
otherwise they might turn and be forgiven!’[a]”(J)
13 Then Jesus said to them, “Don’t you understand this parable? How then will you understand any parable? 14 The farmer sows the word.(K) 15 Some people are like seed along the path, where the word is sown. As soon as they hear it, Satan(L) comes and takes away the word that was sown in them. 16 Others, like seed sown on rocky places, hear the word and at once receive it with joy. 17 But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away. 18 Still others, like seed sown among thorns, hear the word; 19 but the worries of this life, the deceitfulness of wealth(M) and the desires for other things come in and choke the word, making it unfruitful. 20 Others, like seed sown on good soil, hear the word, accept it, and produce a crop—some thirty, some sixty, some a hundred times what was sown.”
A Lamp on a Stand
21 He said to them, “Do you bring in a lamp to put it under a bowl or a bed? Instead, don’t you put it on its stand?(N) 22 For whatever is hidden is meant to be disclosed, and whatever is concealed is meant to be brought out into the open.(O) 23 If anyone has ears to hear, let them hear.”(P)
24 “Consider carefully what you hear,” he continued. “With the measure you use, it will be measured to you—and even more.(Q) 25 Whoever has will be given more; whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken from them.”(R)
The Parable of the Growing Seed
26 He also said, “This is what the kingdom of God is like.(S) A man scatters seed on the ground. 27 Night and day, whether he sleeps or gets up, the seed sprouts and grows, though he does not know how. 28 All by itself the soil produces grain—first the stalk, then the head, then the full kernel in the head. 29 As soon as the grain is ripe, he puts the sickle to it, because the harvest has come.”(T)
The Parable of the Mustard Seed(U)
30 Again he said, “What shall we say the kingdom of God is like,(V) or what parable shall we use to describe it? 31 It is like a mustard seed, which is the smallest of all seeds on earth. 32 Yet when planted, it grows and becomes the largest of all garden plants, with such big branches that the birds can perch in its shade.”
33 With many similar parables Jesus spoke the word to them, as much as they could understand.(W) 34 He did not say anything to them without using a parable.(X) But when he was alone with his own disciples, he explained everything.
Jesus Calms the Storm(Y)
35 That day when evening came, he said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side.” 36 Leaving the crowd behind, they took him along, just as he was, in the boat.(Z) There were also other boats with him. 37 A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped. 38 Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?”
39 He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.
40 He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?”(AA)
41 They were terrified and asked each other, “Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!”
