2 过了些日子，耶稣又进了迦百农。人听见他在房子里， 2 就有许多人聚集，甚至连门前都没有空地。耶稣就对他们讲道。 3 有人带着一个瘫子来见耶稣，是用四个人抬来的。 4 因为人多，不得近前，就把耶稣所在的房子拆了房顶。既拆通了，就把瘫子连所躺卧的褥子都缒下来。 5 耶稣见他们的信心，就对瘫子说：“小子，你的罪赦了！” 6 有几个文士坐在那里，心里议论说： 7 “这个人为什么这样说呢？他说僭妄的话了！除了神以外，谁能赦罪呢？” 8 耶稣心中知道他们心里这样议论，就说：“你们心里为什么这样议论呢？ 9 或对瘫子说‘你的罪赦了’，或说‘起来，拿你的褥子行走’，哪一样容易呢？ 10 但要叫你们知道，人子在地上有赦罪的权柄。”就对瘫子说： 11 “我吩咐你，起来，拿你的褥子回家去吧！” 12 那人就起来，立刻拿着褥子，当众人面前出去了。以致众人都惊奇，归荣耀于神，说：“我们从来没有见过这样的事！”
耶稣召利未
13 耶稣又出到海边去，众人都就了他来，他便教训他们。 14 耶稣经过的时候，看见亚勒腓的儿子利未坐在税关上，就对他说：“你跟从我来！”他就起来跟从了耶稣。 15 耶稣在利未家里坐席的时候，有好些税吏和罪人与耶稣并门徒一同坐席，因为这样的人多，他们也跟随耶稣。 16 法利赛人中的文士[a]看见耶稣和罪人并税吏一同吃饭，就对他门徒说：“他和税吏并罪人一同吃喝吗？” 17 耶稣听见，就对他们说：“康健的人用不着医生，有病的人才用得着。我来本不是召义人，乃是召罪人。”
论禁食
18 当下，约翰的门徒和法利赛人禁食。他们来问耶稣说：“约翰的门徒和法利赛人的门徒禁食，你的门徒倒不禁食，这是为什么呢？” 19 耶稣对他们说：“新郎和陪伴之人同在的时候，陪伴之人岂能禁食呢？新郎还同在，他们不能禁食。 20 但日子将到，新郎要离开他们，那日他们就要禁食。
新旧难合的比喻
21 “没有人把新布缝在旧衣服上，恐怕所补上的新布带坏了旧衣服，破的就更大了。 22 也没有人把新酒装在旧皮袋里，恐怕酒把皮袋裂开，酒和皮袋就都坏了。唯把新酒装在新皮袋里。”
人子是安息日的主
23 耶稣当安息日从麦地经过，他门徒行路的时候掐了麦穗。 24 法利赛人对耶稣说：“看哪，他们在安息日为什么做不可做的事呢？” 25 耶稣对他们说：“经上记着大卫和跟从他的人缺乏、饥饿之时所做的事，你们没有念过吗？ 26 他当亚比亚他做大祭司的时候，怎么进了神的殿，吃了陈设饼，又给跟从他的人吃？这饼除了祭司以外，人都不可吃。” 27 又对他们说：“安息日是为人设立的，人不是为安息日设立的。 28 所以，人子也是安息日的主。”

治好瘸腿的人
2 过了些日子，耶稣回到迦百农。耶稣回家的消息也随之传开了。 2 很多人来见耶稣，房子挤得满满的，甚至连门外都没空地，耶稣开始教导人们。 3 此时，有四个人抬着抬着一个瘫痪病人来到他那里。 4 因为屋子里挤满了人，他们无法把瘫痪病人抬到耶稣身边， 只好把耶稣上方的房顶拆开一个洞，把瘫痪病人躺着的垫子从洞口缒下来。 5 耶稣看到他们有如此的信仰，便对瘫痪病人说∶“年轻人，你的罪孽被宽恕了。”
6 一些律法师坐在那里，心想： 7 “这个人怎么竟然这样讲话呢？他在亵渎上帝！除了上帝，谁又能宽恕罪孽呢？”
8 耶稣立刻看出这些人的心思，便对他们说∶“你们为什么心怀这些疑问呢？ 9 两者相比，哪个更容易呢？是对这个瘫痪病人说‘你的罪被宽恕了，’容易，还是说：‘站起来！拿着铺盖走吧，’容易呢？ 10 我要向你们证实，人子在世间有宽恕罪孽的权力。”然后对瘫痪病人说： 11 “我吩咐你站起来！拿上你的铺盖，走回家去吧。” 12 瘫痪病人就站了起来，立即拿起铺盖，在众目睽睽之下走出了屋子。人们对此都惊讶极了，赞美上帝说∶“我们从来没有见过这样的稀罕事。”
利未（马太）跟随耶稣
13 耶稣又来到加利利湖边。许多人跟随他到了那里，耶稣便教导他们。 14 耶稣在湖边行走时，看见亚勒腓的儿子利未正坐在收税的地方，耶稣对利未说∶“跟随我！”利未便起身跟随了耶稣。
15 当天晚些时候，耶稣和门徒们到利未家吃饭。有许多税吏和名声不好的人也成为耶稣的门徒，所以他们当中的许多人也在那里与他们一起吃饭。 16 一些法利赛人的律法师看到耶稣和这些人一起吃饭，就问他的门徒∶“他为什么与税吏和罪人一起吃饭？”
17 耶稣听见了，就对律法师们说∶“健康人不需要医生，需要医生的是那些有病的人。我不是来召唤正直人的，而是来召唤罪人的。”
耶稣不像其他的宗教领袖
18 这时正赶上约翰的门徒和法利赛人在禁食，一些人来问耶稣说∶“为什么约翰的门徒和法利赛人的门徒禁食，而您的门徒却不禁食？”
19 耶稣回答说∶“在婚礼上，当新郎和朋友在一起时，他的朋友们不悲伤。当新郎在场时，他们也不可能禁食。 20 但是，新郎迟早要离开他们的，那时他们会感到悲伤而禁食。
21 “没有人会用没有缩过水的新布去补旧衣服，因为补钉一缩水，会把原来的破洞扯得更大了。 22 谁也不会把新酒装进旧酒囊里，否则，新酒会撑破旧酒囊，结果酒和酒囊两样东西都被毁了。你们总是把新酒装到新酒囊里。”
耶稣是安息日的主
23 在一个安息日里，耶稣和门徒经过一片庄稼地，他的门徒边走边摘麦穗吃。 24 法利赛人看见了，就对耶稣说∶“瞧，他们为什么在安息日里做违法的事情呢？”
25 耶稣说∶“难道你们不曾在书上读到过大卫 [a]和他的手下人在饥饿和缺乏的时候是怎样做的吗？ 26 那还是在亚比亚他当大祭司的时候，大卫就到上帝的大殿里吃了献给上帝的贡饼。摩西律法说，除了祭司之外，别人吃这些东西是不合法的。大卫还是拿了一些分给了手下的人。”
27 然后，耶稣对法利赛人说∶“安息日是为人设立的，而人却不是为了安息日而造的。 28 所以，人子才是每一天的主，甚至也是安息日的主。”

Jesus Heals a Paralyzed Man(A)
2 Several days later, Jesus[a] returned to Capernaum and it was reported that he was at home. 2 Such a large crowd gathered that there wasn’t room for them, even in front of the door. Jesus[b] was speaking his message to them 3 when some people[c] came and brought him a paralyzed man being carried by four men. 4 Since they couldn’t bring him to Jesus because of the crowd, they made an opening in the roof over the place where he was. They dug through it and let down the mat on which the paralyzed man was lying.
5 When Jesus saw their faith, he told the paralyzed man, “Son, your sins are forgiven.”
6 Now some scribes were sitting there, arguing among themselves,[d] 7 “Why does this man talk this way? He is blaspheming! Who can forgive sins but God alone?”
8 At once, Jesus knew in his spirit what they were saying to themselves. “Why are you arguing about such things among yourselves?”[e] he asked them. 9 “Which is easier: to say to the paralyzed man, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or ‘Get up, pick up your mat, and walk’? 10 But I want you to know[f] that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins…” Then he told the paralyzed man, 11 “I say to you, get up, pick up your mat, and go home!” 12 So the man[g] got up, immediately picked up his mat, and went out in front of all of them.
As a result, all of the people were amazed and began to glorify God as they kept on saying, “We have never seen anything like this!”
Jesus Calls Matthew(B)
13 Jesus[h] went out again beside the sea. The whole crowd kept coming to him, and he kept teaching them. 14 As he was walking along, he saw Levi, the son of Alphaeus, sitting at the tax collector’s desk. Jesus[i] told him, “Follow me!” So Levi[j] got up and followed him.
15 Later, he was having dinner at Levi’s[k] house. Many tax collectors and sinners were also eating with Jesus and his disciples, because there were many who were following him. 16 When the scribes and the Pharisees saw him eating with sinners and tax collectors, they asked his disciples, “Why does he eat and drink[l] with tax collectors and sinners?”
17 When Jesus heard that, he told them, “Healthy people don’t need a physician, but sick ones do. I did not come to call righteous people, but sinners.”
A Question about Fasting(C)
18 Now John’s disciples and the Pharisees would fast regularly. Some people[m] came and asked Jesus,[n] “Why do John’s disciples and the Pharisees’ disciples fast, but your disciples don’t fast?”
19 Jesus replied, “The wedding guests[o] can’t fast while the groom is with them, can they? As long as they have the groom with them, they can’t fast. 20 But the time will come when the groom will be taken away from them, and then they will fast on that day.”
The Unshrunk Cloth(D)
21 “No one patches an old garment with a piece of unshrunk cloth. If he does, the patch pulls away from it—the new from the old—and a worse tear is made. 22 And no one pours new wine into old wineskins. If he does, the wine will make the skins burst, and both the wine and the skins will be ruined. Instead, new wine is poured[p] into fresh wineskins.”
Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath(E)
23 Jesus[q] happened to be going through the grain fields on a Sabbath.[r] As they made their way, his disciples began picking the heads of grain. 24 The Pharisees asked him, “Look! Why are they doing what is not lawful on Sabbath days?”[s]
25 He asked them, “Haven’t you read what David did when he and his companions were hungry and in need? 26 How was it that he went into the House of God during the lifetime[t] of Abiathar the high priest and ate the Bread of the Presence, which was not lawful for anyone but the priests to eat, and gave some of it to his companions?”
27 Then he told them, “The Sabbath was made for people, not people for the Sabbath. 28 Therefore, the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath.”

Jesus Forgives and Heals a Paralyzed Man(A)
2 A few days later, when Jesus again entered Capernaum, the people heard that he had come home. 2 They gathered in such large numbers(B) that there was no room left, not even outside the door, and he preached the word to them. 3 Some men came, bringing to him a paralyzed man,(C) carried by four of them. 4 Since they could not get him to Jesus because of the crowd, they made an opening in the roof above Jesus by digging through it and then lowered the mat the man was lying on. 5 When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralyzed man, “Son, your sins are forgiven.”(D)
6 Now some teachers of the law were sitting there, thinking to themselves, 7 “Why does this fellow talk like that? He’s blaspheming! Who can forgive sins but God alone?”(E)
8 Immediately Jesus knew in his spirit that this was what they were thinking in their hearts, and he said to them, “Why are you thinking these things? 9 Which is easier: to say to this paralyzed man, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Get up, take your mat and walk’? 10 But I want you to know that the Son of Man(F) has authority on earth to forgive sins.” So he said to the man, 11 “I tell you, get up, take your mat and go home.” 12 He got up, took his mat and walked out in full view of them all. This amazed everyone and they praised God,(G) saying, “We have never seen anything like this!”(H)
Jesus Calls Levi and Eats With Sinners(I)
13 Once again Jesus went out beside the lake. A large crowd came to him,(J) and he began to teach them. 14 As he walked along, he saw Levi son of Alphaeus sitting at the tax collector’s booth. “Follow me,”(K) Jesus told him, and Levi got up and followed him.
15 While Jesus was having dinner at Levi’s house, many tax collectors and sinners were eating with him and his disciples, for there were many who followed him. 16 When the teachers of the law who were Pharisees(L) saw him eating with the sinners and tax collectors, they asked his disciples: “Why does he eat with tax collectors and sinners?”(M)
17 On hearing this, Jesus said to them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”(N)
Jesus Questioned About Fasting(O)
18 Now John’s disciples and the Pharisees were fasting.(P) Some people came and asked Jesus, “How is it that John’s disciples and the disciples of the Pharisees are fasting, but yours are not?”
19 Jesus answered, “How can the guests of the bridegroom fast while he is with them? They cannot, so long as they have him with them. 20 But the time will come when the bridegroom will be taken from them,(Q) and on that day they will fast.
21 “No one sews a patch of unshrunk cloth on an old garment. Otherwise, the new piece will pull away from the old, making the tear worse. 22 And no one pours new wine into old wineskins. Otherwise, the wine will burst the skins, and both the wine and the wineskins will be ruined. No, they pour new wine into new wineskins.”
Jesus Is Lord of the Sabbath(R)(S)
23 One Sabbath Jesus was going through the grainfields, and as his disciples walked along, they began to pick some heads of grain.(T) 24 The Pharisees said to him, “Look, why are they doing what is unlawful on the Sabbath?”(U)
25 He answered, “Have you never read what David did when he and his companions were hungry and in need? 26 In the days of Abiathar the high priest,(V) he entered the house of God and ate the consecrated bread, which is lawful only for priests to eat.(W) And he also gave some to his companions.”(X)
27 Then he said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man,(Y) not man for the Sabbath.(Z) 28 So the Son of Man(AA) is Lord even of the Sabbath.”

9 Whether is it easier to say to the sick of the palsy, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and take up thy bed, and walk?
10 But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (he saith to the sick of the palsy,)
11 I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy bed, and go thy way into thine house.
12 And immediately he arose, took up the bed, and went forth before them all; insomuch that they were all amazed, and glorified God, saying, We never saw it on this fashion.
13 And he went forth again by the sea side; and all the multitude resorted unto him, and he taught them.
14 And as he passed by, he saw Levi the son of Alphaeus sitting at the receipt of custom, and said unto him, Follow me. And he arose and followed him.
15 And it came to pass, that, as Jesus sat at meat in his house, many publicans and sinners sat also together with Jesus and his disciples: for there were many, and they followed him.
16 And when the scribes and Pharisees saw him eat with publicans and sinners, they said unto his disciples, How is it that he eateth and drinketh with publicans and sinners?
17 When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.
18 And the disciples of John and of the Pharisees used to fast: and they come and say unto him, Why do the disciples of John and of the Pharisees fast, but thy disciples fast not?
19 And Jesus said unto them, Can the children of the bridechamber fast, while the bridegroom is with them? as long as they have the bridegroom with them, they cannot fast.
20 But the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, and then shall they fast in those days.
21 No man also seweth a piece of new cloth on an old garment: else the new piece that filled it up taketh away from the old, and the rent is made worse.
22 And no man putteth new wine into old bottles: else the new wine doth burst the bottles, and the wine is spilled, and the bottles will be marred: but new wine must be put into new bottles.
23 And it came to pass, that he went through the corn fields on the sabbath day; and his disciples began, as they went, to pluck the ears of corn.
24 And the Pharisees said unto him, Behold, why do they on the sabbath day that which is not lawful?
25 And he said unto them, Have ye never read what David did, when he had need, and was an hungred, he, and they that were with him?
26 How he went into the house of God in the days of Abiathar the high priest, and did eat the shewbread, which is not lawful to eat but for the priests, and gave also to them which were with him?
27 And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath:
28 Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.
