12 耶稣又用比喻对他们说:“有一个人栽种了一个葡萄园,四面围上篱笆,挖了一个压酒池,盖了一座瞭望台,然后租给佃户,就远行去了。 2 到了时候,园主派了一个仆人到佃户那里,向佃户收取葡萄园一部分的果子。 3 佃户抓住他,打了他,放他空手回去。 4 园主再派另外一个仆人到他们那里,他们打伤了他的头,并且侮辱他。 5 园主又派另一个去,他们就把他杀了。后来又派去许多仆人,有的给他们打了,有的给他们杀了。 6 还有一个,就是园主的爱子,最后园主派他到那里去,说:‘他们必尊敬我的儿子。’ 7 那些佃户却彼此说:‘这是继承产业的;来,我们杀了他,产业就是我们的了。’ 8 于是抓住他,把他杀了,扔在葡萄园外。 9 这样,葡萄园的主人要怎么办呢?他要来除掉那些佃户,把葡萄园租给别人。 10 你们没有念过这段圣经吗:
‘建筑工人所弃的石头,
成了房角的主要石头;

人复活后不娶不嫁(C)
18 撒都该人向来认为没有复活的事,他们来到耶稣那里,问他: 19 “老师,摩西曾写给我们说:‘如果一个人死了,留下妻子,没有儿女,他的弟弟就应当娶他的妻子,为哥哥立后。’ 20 从前有兄弟七人,头一个娶了妻子,死了,没有留下孩子; 21 第二个娶了她,也没有留下孩子,就死了;第三个也是这样。 22 那七个人都没有留下孩子,最后那女人也死了。 23 到了复活的时候,他们都要复活,她是哪一个的妻子呢?因为七个人都娶过她。” 24 耶稣对他们说:“你们错了,不正是因为你们不明白圣经,也不晓得 神的能力吗? 25 因为人从死里复活以后,也不娶,也不嫁,而是像天上的天使一样。 26 关于死人复活的事,摩西的经卷中荆棘篇上, 神怎样对他说:‘我是亚伯拉罕的 神,以撒的 神,雅各的 神’,你们没有念过吗? 27 他不是死人的 神,而是活人的 神。你们是大错特错了!”
最重要的诫命(D)

你坐在我的右边,

耶稣叫人提防经学家(F)
38 耶稣教导人的时候,说:“你们要提防经学家,他们喜欢穿长袍走来走去,喜欢人在市中心向他们问安, 39 又喜欢会堂里的高位,筵席上的首座。 40 他们吞没了寡妇的房产,又假装作冗长的祷告。这些人必受更重的刑罚。”

12 Nangaral si Jesus sa mga tao sa pamamagitan ng mga talinghaga. Sinabi niya, “May isang taong nagtanim ng ubas sa kanyang bukid. Pinabakuran niya iyon at nagpagawa siya ng pisaan ng ubas. Nagtayo rin siya ng isang bantayang tore. At pagkatapos ay pinaupahan niya ang kanyang ubasan sa mga magsasaka at pumunta siya sa malayong lugar. 2 Nang panahon na ng pamimitas ng ubas, pinapunta niya ang isang alipin sa mga magsasakang umuupa ng kanyang ubasan para kunin ang parte niya. 3 Pero sinunggaban ng mga magsasaka ang alipin at binugbog, at pinaalis nang walang dala. 4 Nagsugo ulit ang may-ari ng isa pang alipin, pero ipinahiya nila ito at hinampas sa ulo. 5 Muli pang nagsugo ang may-ari ng isa pang alipin, pero pinatay nila ito. At sa huli, namatay din ang babae. 23 Ngayon, sa araw ng muling pagkabuhay ng mga patay, sino po sa pito ang magiging asawa ng babaeng iyon dahil napangasawa niya silang lahat?”
24 Sumagot si Jesus, “Maling-mali kayo, dahil hindi ninyo nauunawaan ang Kasulatan at ang kapangyarihan ng Dios. 25 Sapagkat sa muling pagkabuhay ay wala nang pag-aasawa. Magiging tulad sila ng mga anghel sa langit. 26 Tungkol naman sa muling pagkabuhay, hindi nʼyo ba nabasa ang isinulat ni Moises? Noong naroon siya sa may nagliliyab na mababang punongkahoy, sinabi sa kanya ng Dios, ‘Ako ang Dios nila Abraham, Isaac, at Jacob.’ 27 Hindi siya Dios ng mga patay kundi ng mga buhay. Kaya maling-mali kayo!”
Ang Pinakamahalagang Utos(D)
28 May isang tagapagturo ng Kautusan doon na nakikinig ng pagtatalo nila. Napakinggan niyang mahusay ang sagot ni Jesus, kaya lumapit siya at nagtanong din, “Ano po ba ang pinakamahalagang utos?” 29 Sumagot si Jesus, “Ito ang pinakamahalagang utos: ‘Pakinggan ninyo mga taga-Israel! Ang Panginoon na ating Dios ang natatanging Panginoon. 30 Kaya mahalin mo ang Panginoon mong Dios nang buong puso, nang buong kaluluwa, nang buong pag-iisip, at nang buong lakas!’[f] 31 At ang pangalawa ay ito: ‘Mahalin mo ang iyong kapwa tulad ng pagmamahal mo sa iyong sarili.’[g] Wala nang ibang utos na higit pang mahalaga kaysa sa dalawang ito.” 32 Sinabi ng tagapagturo ng Kautusan, “Tama po kayo, Guro! Totoo ang sinabi ninyo na iisa lang ang Dios at wala nang iba. 33 At kailangang mahalin siya nang buong puso, nang buong pag-iisip, at nang buong lakas. At kailangan ding mahalin ang kapwa tulad ng pagmamahal natin sa ating sarili. Higit na mahalaga ito kaysa sa lahat ng uri ng handog na sinusunog at iba pang mga handog.” 34 Nang marinig ni Jesus na may katuturan ang mga sagot nito, sinabi niya rito, “Malapit ka nang mapabilang sa kaharian ng Dios.” Mula noon, wala nang nangahas na magtanong kay Jesus.

35 Nang minsang nangangaral si Jesus sa templo, tinanong niya ang mga tao, “Bakit sinasabi ng mga tagapagturo ng Kautusan na ang Cristo raw ay lahi lang ni David? 36 Samantalang si David na mismo na pinatnubayan ng Banal na Espiritu ang nagsabing,
‘Sinabi ng Panginoon sa aking Panginoon,
Maupo ka sa kanan ko
hanggang sa mapasuko ko sa iyo ang iyong mga kaaway!’[h]
37 Ngayon, kung tinawag siya ni David na Panginoon, paano siyang naging lahi lang ni David?” Wiling-wili sa pakikinig ang mga tao kay Jesus.
Babala Laban sa mga Tagapagturo ng Kautusan(F)
38 Sinabi pa ni Jesus sa kanyang pagtuturo, “Mag-ingat kayo sa mga tagapagturo ng Kautusan. Mahilig silang mamasyal na nakasuot ng espesyal na damit.[i] At gustong-gusto nilang batiin silaʼt igalang sa mga mataong lugar.[j] 39 Mahilig silang maupo sa mga upuang pandangal sa mga sambahan at mga handaan. 40 Dinadaya nila ang mga biyuda para makuha ang mga ari-arian ng mga ito, at pinagtatakpan nila ang mga ginagawa nila sa pamamagitan ng mahabang pagdarasal! 41 Umupo si Jesus malapit sa pinaglalagyan ng mga kaloob doon sa templo at pinagmamasdan ang mga taong naghuhulog ng pera. Maraming mayayamang naghulog ng malalaking halaga. 42 May lumapit doon na isang mahirap na biyuda at naghulog ng dalawang pirasong barya. 43 Tinawag ni Jesus ang mga tagasunod niya at sinabi, “Sinasabi ko sa inyo ang totoo, mas malaki ang ibinigay ng biyudang iyon kaysa sa lahat ng nagbigay. 44 Sapagkat silang lahat ay nagbigay lang ng sumobrang pera nila. Parable of the Vineyard Owner
12 Jesus began to speak to them [the chief priests, scribes and elders who were questioning Him] in parables: “A man planted a vineyard and put a [a]wall around it, and dug a pit for the wine press and built a tower; and he rented it out to tenant farmers and left the country.(A) 2 When the harvest season came he sent a [b]servant to the tenants, in order to collect from them some of the fruit of the vineyard. 3 They took him and beat him and sent him away empty-handed. 4 Again he sent them another servant, and they [threw stones and] wounded him in the head, and treated him disgracefully. 5 And he sent another, and that one they killed; then many others—some they beat and some they killed. 6 He still had one man left to send, a beloved son; he sent him last of all to them, saying, ‘They will respect my son.’ 7 But those tenants said to each other, ‘This man is the heir! Come on, let us kill him [and destroy the evidence], and his inheritance will be ours!’ 8 So they took him and killed him, and threw his body outside the vineyard. 9 What will the owner of the vineyard do? He will come and destroy the tenants, and will give the vineyard to others. 10 Have you not even read this Scripture:
‘The stone which the builders regarded as unworthy and rejected,
This [very stone] has become the chief Cornerstone
11
This came about from the Lord,
And it is marvelous and wonderful in our eyes’?”(B)
12 And they were looking for a way to seize Him, but they were afraid of the crowd; for they knew that He spoke this parable in reference to [and as a charge against] them. And so they left Him and went away.
Jesus Answers the Pharisees, Sadducees and Scribes
13 Then they sent some of the [c]Pharisees and Herodians to Jesus in order to trap Him into making a statement [that they could use against Him].(C) 14 They came and said to Him, “Teacher, we know that You are truthful and have no personal bias toward anyone; for You are not influenced by outward appearances or social status, but in truth You teach the way of God. Is it lawful [according to Jewish law and tradition] to pay the [d]poll-tax to [[e]Tiberius] Caesar, or not? 15 Should we pay [the tax] or should we not pay?” But knowing their hypocrisy, He asked them, “Why are you testing Me? Bring Me a [f]coin (denarius) to look at.” 16 So they brought one. Then He asked them, “Whose image and inscription is this?” They said to Him, “Caesar’s.” 17 Jesus said to them, “Pay to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.” And they were greatly amazed at Him.
18 Some Sadducees (who say that there is no resurrection) came to Him, and began questioning Him, saying,(D) 19 “Teacher, Moses wrote for us [a law] that if a man’s brother dies and leaves a wife but leaves no child, his brother is to [g]marry the widow and raise up children for his brother.(E) 20 There were seven brothers; the first [one] took a wife, and died leaving no children. 21 The second brother married her, and died leaving no children; and the third likewise; 22 and so all seven [married her and died, and] left no children. Last of all the woman died also. 23 In the resurrection, whose wife will she be? For all seven [brothers] were married to her.” 24 Jesus said to them, “Is this not why you are wrong, because you know neither the Scriptures [that teach the resurrection] nor the power of God [who is able to raise the dead]? 25 For when they rise from the dead, they do not marry nor are they given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven. 26 But concerning the raising of the dead, have you not read in the book of Moses, in the passage about the burning bush, how God spoke to him, saying, ‘I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’?(F) 27 He is not the God of the dead, but of the living; you are greatly mistaken and you are deceiving yourselves!”
28 Then one of the scribes [an expert in Mosaic Law] came up and listened to them arguing [with one another], and noticing that Jesus answered them well, asked Him, “Which commandment is first and most important of all?”(G) 29 Jesus answered, “The first and most important one is: ‘Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God is one Lord; 30 and you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul (life), and with all your mind (thought, understanding), and with all your strength.’(H) 31 This is the second: ‘You shall [unselfishly] [h]love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”(I) 32 The scribe said to Him, “Admirably answered, Teacher; You truthfully stated that He is One, and there is no other but Him; 33 and to love Him with all the heart and with all the understanding and with all the strength, and to [unselfishly] love one’s neighbor as oneself, is much more than all burnt offerings and sacrifices.”(J) 34 When Jesus saw that he answered thoughtfully and intelligently, He said to him, “You are not far from the kingdom of God.” And after that, no one would dare to ask Him any more questions.
35 Jesus began to say, as He taught in [a portico or court of] the temple, “[i]How can the scribes say that the Christ is the son of David?(K) 36 David himself said [when inspired] by the Holy Spirit,
‘The Lord (the Father) said to my Lord (the Son, the Messiah),
“Sit at My right hand,
Until I put Your enemies under Your feet.”’(L)
37 David himself calls Him (the Son, the Messiah) ‘Lord’; so how can it be that He is [j]David’s Son?” The large crowd enjoyed hearing Jesus and listened to Him with delight.
38 In [the course of] His teaching He was saying, “Beware of the scribes, who like to walk around in long robes [displaying their prominence], and like to receive respectful greetings in the market places, 39 and [they love] the [k]chief seats in the synagogues and the places of distinction and honor at banquets, 40 [these scribes] who devour (confiscate) widows’ houses, and offer long prayers for appearance’s sake [to impress others]. These men will receive greater condemnation.”
The Widow’s Mite
41 And He sat down opposite the [temple] treasury, and began watching how the people were putting money into the [l]treasury. And many rich people were putting in [m]large sums.(M) 42 A poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, which amount to a [n]mite. 43 Calling His disciples to Him, He said to them, “I assure you and most solemnly say to you, this poor widow put in [proportionally] more than all the contributors to the treasury. 44 For they all contributed from their surplus, but she, from her poverty, put in all she had, all she had to live on.”

- Mark 12:35 It is no coincidence that Jesus raises this question after His preceding discussion with the lawyer/scribe. Matthew (22:35) notes that the lawyer had questioned Jesus to test Him. His goal was to extract from Jesus the admission that there is only one God (see v 32), and eventually to use that admission against Him when He claimed to be the Son of God and therefore God Himself. In reality, Jesus had admitted nothing that posed a problem for the concept of one God existing as three distinct Persons, and He drew attention to this fact by raising the issue of David’s relationship to the Messiah.

- Mark 12:39 These seats were located near the scrolls of the Law, facing the congregation in the synagogue.
- Mark 12:41 Thirteen trumpet-shaped chests were placed around the wall in the Court of Women in the temple.
- Mark 12:41 The thirteen receptacles for the money were metal and the heavy silver coins contributed by the wealthy would have made quite a noise when they were deposited, calling audible attention to the size of each contribution. By contrast, the widow’s coins (v 42) would have barely made a sound.
- Mark 12:42 The least valuable Roman coin, which amounted to only one sixty-fourth of a day’s wages for a laborer; traditionally called the “widow’s mite.”
