赦罪與治病
9 耶穌上了船，渡過去，來到自己的城裡。 2 這時候，有幾個人把一個躺在床榻上癱瘓的人抬到他面前。耶穌看見他們的信心，就對癱瘓的人說：「孩子，鼓起勇氣吧！你的罪孽被赦免了。」
3 但這時候，有些經文士心裡說：「這個人說褻瀆的話！」
4 耶穌知道他們的想法，就說：「你們心裡為什麼懷著惡念呢？ 5 或說『你的罪孽被赦免了』，或說『你起來走路』，到底哪一樣更容易呢？ 6 不過為要使你們知道人子在地上有赦免罪的權柄——」於是他對癱瘓的人說：「起來，拿起你的床榻，回家去吧！」 7 那個人就起來，回家去了。 8 眾人看見就起了敬畏之心[a]，就榮耀神，因為他賜給人這樣的權柄。
呼召馬太
9 耶穌從那裡往前走，看見一個叫馬太的人在稅關坐著。耶穌對他說：「你跟從我！」馬太就站起來，跟從了耶穌。
10 耶穌在屋子裡坐席，這時候來了許多稅吏和罪人，與耶穌和他的門徒們一同坐席。 11 有些法利賽人看見了，就對耶穌的門徒們說：「你們的老師為什麼與那些稅吏和罪人一起吃飯呢？」
12 耶穌聽見了就說：「健康的人不需要醫生，有病的人才需要。 13 你們去學『我要的是憐憫，而不是祭祀』[b]這話是什麼意思吧！我來不是要召喚義人，而是要召喚罪人[c]。」
禁食的問題
14 隨後，約翰的門徒們前來問耶穌：「為什麼我們和法利賽人經常[d]禁食，而你的門徒們卻不禁食呢？」
15 耶穌對他們說：「新郎與賓客[e]在一起的時候，難道賓客能悲傷嗎？可是日子將要來到：當新郎從他們中間被帶走的時候，他們那時就要禁食了。 16 沒有人把沒縮過水的布塊補在舊衣服上，因為所補上的布塊會扯壞衣服，造成更大的裂口。 17 也沒有人把新酒裝在舊皮袋裡，否則皮袋會脹破，酒會流出來，皮袋也被糟蹋了；相反，他們是把新酒裝在新皮袋裡，這樣兩者都保全了。」
少女復活、婦人痊癒
18 耶穌正對他們講這些事的時候，忽然有一個會堂[f]主管來拜他，說：「我的女兒剛才死了，求你來按手在她身上，她就會活了。」 19 於是耶穌起身跟著他去，他的門徒們也跟著去了。
20 這時候，忽然有一個患血漏十二年的女人，從耶穌後面過來，摸了一下耶穌的衣服穗子， 21 原來她心裡想：「只要我摸到他的衣服，就會得救治。」
22 耶穌轉過身來看著她，說：「女兒，鼓起勇氣吧！你的信救了你。」從那一刻起，那個女人就得了救治。
23 耶穌來到那會堂[g]主管的家，看見吹笛的人和慌亂的人群， 24 就說：「你們退去吧！這女孩不是死了，而是睡了。」他們就譏笑他。 25 那群人被趕出去以後，耶穌進去，握著女孩的手，那女孩就起來了。 26 於是，這消息傳遍了那整個地區。
開盲人的眼睛
27 耶穌從那裡往前走，有兩個瞎眼的跟著他，呼叫說：「大衛的後裔，可憐我們吧！」
28 耶穌進了屋子，那兩個瞎眼的來到他面前。耶穌問他們：「你們相信我能做這件事嗎？」
他們回答說：「主啊，是的，我們信[h]。」
29 於是耶穌摸他們的眼睛，說：「照著你們所信的，給你們成全吧。」 30 他們的眼睛就開了。耶穌嚴厲地告誡他們：「你們要注意，不可讓任何人知道。」 31 但他們一出去，就把耶穌的消息傳遍了那整個地區。
驅趕鬼魔
32 兩個人離去了。這時候有幾個人把一個有鬼魔附身的啞巴帶到耶穌那裡。 33 鬼魔一被趕出去，啞巴就說出話來。眾人都感到驚奇，他們說：「這樣的事，在以色列從來沒有見過。」
34 但法利賽人卻說：「他是靠鬼魔的王驅趕鬼魔的。」[i]
工作多工人少
35 耶穌走遍各個城鎮鄉村，在他們的會堂裡教導人，傳天國的福音，並且使[j]各樣的疾病和各樣的症狀痊癒。 36 耶穌看見眾人，就對他們動了憐憫之心，因為他們困苦流離，像羊沒有牧人那樣。 37 於是他對自己的門徒們說：「收割的工作[k]多，而工人少。 38 所以你們要祈求收割[l]的主催促工人參與他的收割工作[m]。」

14 那时，约翰的门徒前来问耶稣：“为甚么我们和法利赛人常常禁食，你的门徒却不禁食呢？” 15 耶稣回答：“新郎跟宾客在一起的时候，宾客怎能哀痛呢？但到了时候，新郎就要从他们中间被取去，那时他们就要禁食了。 16 没有人会拿一块新布补在旧衣服上，因为补上的会把衣服扯破，裂的地方就更大了。 17 也没有人会把新酒装在旧皮袋里，如果这样，皮袋就会胀破，酒就漏出来，皮袋也损坏了。人总是把新酒装在新皮袋里，这样，两样都可以保全。”
治好血漏病的女人(D)
18 耶稣对他们说话的时候，有一位会堂的主管走来跪在他面前，说：“我的女儿刚死了，但请你来按手在她身上，她必活过来。” 19 于是耶稣和门徒起来跟着他去了。 20 有一个女人，患了十二年的血漏病，她走到耶稣背后，摸他衣服的繸子， 21 因为她心里说：“只要摸到他的衣服，我就必痊愈。” 22 耶稣转过来看见她，就说：“女儿，放心！你的信心使你痊愈了。”从那时起，那女人就好了。

23 耶稣进了那主管的家，看见有吹笛的人和喧哗的群众， 24 就说：“出去！这女孩不是死了，只是睡了。”他们就嘲笑他。 25 耶稣赶走众人之后，进去拉着女孩的手，女孩就起来了。 26 这消息传遍了那一带。
治好瞎子
27 耶稣离开那里的时候，有两个瞎子跟着他，喊着说：“大卫的子孙，可怜我们吧！” 28 耶稣进了房子，他们来到他那里。耶稣问他们：“你们信我能作这些事吗？”他们回答：“主啊，我们信。” 29 于是耶稣摸他们的眼睛，说：“照你们的信心给你们成就吧。” 30 他们的眼睛就看见了。耶稣严严地嘱咐他们：“千万不可让人知道。” 31 他们却出去，把他所作的事传遍了那一带。

9 And Jesus, getting into a boat, crossed to the other side and came to His own town [Capernaum].
2 And behold, they brought to Him a man paralyzed and prostrated by illness, lying on a sleeping pad; and when Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralyzed man, Take courage, son; your sins are forgiven and the [a]penalty remitted.
3 And behold, some of the scribes said to themselves, This man blasphemes [He claims the rights and prerogatives of God]!
4 But Jesus, knowing ([b]seeing) their thoughts, said, Why do you think evil and harbor [c]malice in your hearts?
5 For which is easier: to say, Your sins are forgiven and the [d]penalty remitted, or to say, Get up and walk?
6 But in order that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins and [e]remit the penalty, He then said to the paralyzed man, Get up! Pick up your sleeping pad and go to your own house.
7 And he got up and went away to his own house.
8 When the crowds saw it, they were struck with fear and awe; and they [f]recognized God and praised and thanked Him, Who had given such power and authority to men.
9 As Jesus passed on from there, He saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax collector’s office; and He said to him, [g]Be My disciple [side with My party and follow Me]. And he rose and followed Him.
10 And as Jesus reclined at table in the house, behold, many tax collectors and [h][especially wicked] sinners came and sat (reclined) with Him and His disciples.
11 And when the Pharisees saw this, they said to His disciples, Why does your Master eat with tax collectors and those [preeminently] sinful?
12 But when Jesus heard it, He replied, Those who are strong and well (healthy) have no need of a physician, but those who are weak and sick.
13 Go and learn what this means: I desire mercy [that is, [i]readiness to help those in trouble] and not sacrifice and sacrificial victims. For I came not to call and invite [to repentance] the righteous (those who are upright and in right standing with God), but sinners (the erring ones and all those not free from sin).(A)
14 Then the disciples of John came to Jesus, inquiring, Why is it that we and the Pharisees fast [j]often, [that is, abstain from food and drink as a religious exercise], but Your disciples do not fast?
15 And Jesus replied to them, Can the wedding guests mourn while the bridegroom is still with them? The days will come when the bridegroom is taken away from them, and then they will fast.
16 And no one puts a piece of cloth that has not been shrunk on an old garment, for such a patch tears away from the garment and a worse rent (tear) is made.
17 Neither is new wine put in old wineskins; for if it is, the skins burst and are [k]torn in pieces, and the wine is spilled and the skins are ruined. But new wine is put into fresh wineskins, and so both are preserved.
18 While He was talking this way to them, behold, a ruler entered and, kneeling down, worshiped Him, saying, My daughter has just [l]now died; but come and lay Your hand on her, and she will come to life.
19 And Jesus got up and accompanied him, with His disciples.
20 And behold, a woman who had suffered from a flow of blood for twelve years came up behind Him and touched the fringe of His garment;(B)
21 For she kept saying to herself, If I only touch His garment, I shall be restored to health.
22 Jesus turned around and, seeing her, He said, Take courage, daughter! Your faith has made you well. And at once the woman was restored to health.
23 And when Jesus came to the ruler’s house and saw the flute players and the crowd making an uproar and din,
24 He said, Go away; for the girl is not dead but sleeping. And they laughed and jeered at Him.
25 But when the crowd had been ordered to go outside, He went in and took her by the hand, and the girl arose.
26 And the news about this spread through all that district.
27 As Jesus passed on from there, two blind men followed Him, shouting loudly, Have pity and mercy on us, Son of David!
28 When He reached the house and went in, the blind men came to Him, and Jesus said to them, Do you believe that I am able to do this? They said to Him, Yes, Lord.
29 Then He touched their eyes, saying, According to your faith and trust and reliance [on the power invested in Me] be it done to you;
30 And their eyes were opened. And Jesus earnestly and sternly charged them, See that you let no one know about this.
31 But they went off and blazed and spread His fame abroad throughout that whole district.
32 And while they were going away, behold, a dumb man under the power of a demon was brought to Jesus.
33 And when the demon was driven out, the dumb man spoke; and the crowds were stunned with bewildered wonder, saying, Never before has anything like this been seen in Israel.
34 But the Pharisees said, He drives out demons through and with the help of the prince of demons.
35 And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the good news (the Gospel) of the kingdom and curing all kinds of disease and every weakness and infirmity.
36 When He saw the throngs, He was moved with pity and sympathy for them, because they were bewildered (harassed and distressed and dejected and helpless), like sheep without a shepherd.(C)
37 Then He said to His disciples, The harvest is indeed plentiful, but the laborers are few.
38 So pray to the Lord of the harvest to [m]force out and thrust laborers into His harvest.

2 And, behold, they brought to him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed: and Jesus seeing their faith said unto the sick of the palsy; Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee.
3 And, behold, certain of the scribes said within themselves, This man blasphemeth.
4 And Jesus knowing their thoughts said, Wherefore think ye evil in your hearts?
5 For whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and walk?
6 But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (then saith he to the sick of the palsy,) Arise, take up thy bed, and go unto thine house.
7 And he arose, and departed to his house.
8 But when the multitudes saw it, they marvelled, and glorified God, which had given such power unto men.

10 And it came to pass, as Jesus sat at meat in the house, behold, many publicans and sinners came and sat down with him and his disciples.
11 And when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto his disciples, Why eateth your Master with publicans and sinners?
12 But when Jesus heard that, he said unto them, They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick.
13 But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.
14 Then came to him the disciples of John, saying, Why do we and the Pharisees fast oft, but thy disciples fast not?
15 And Jesus said unto them, Can the children of the bridechamber mourn, as long as the bridegroom is with them? but the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken from them, and then shall they fast.
16 No man putteth a piece of new cloth unto an old garment, for that which is put in to fill it up taketh from the garment, and the rent is made worse.
17 Neither do men put new wine into old bottles: else the bottles break, and the wine runneth out, and the bottles perish: but they put new wine into new bottles, and both are preserved.
18 While he spake these things unto them, behold, there came a certain ruler, and worshipped him, saying, My daughter is even now dead: but come and lay thy hand upon her, and she shall live.
19 And Jesus arose, and followed him, and so did his disciples.
20 And, behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment:
21 For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole.
22 But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour.
23 And when Jesus came into the ruler's house, and saw the minstrels and the people making a noise,
24 He said unto them, Give place: for the maid is not dead, but sleepeth. And they laughed him to scorn.
25 But when the people were put forth, he went in, and took her by the hand, and the maid arose.
26 And the fame hereof went abroad into all that land.
27 And when Jesus departed thence, two blind men followed him, crying, and saying, Thou son of David, have mercy on us.
28 And when he was come into the house, the blind men came to him: and Jesus saith unto them, Believe ye that I am able to do this? They said unto him, Yea, Lord.
29 Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you.
30 And their eyes were opened; and Jesus straitly charged them, saying, See that no man know it.
31 But they, when they were departed, spread abroad his fame in all that country.
32 As they went out, behold, they brought to him a dumb man possessed with a devil.
33 And when the devil was cast out, the dumb spake: and the multitudes marvelled, saying, It was never so seen in Israel.
34 But the Pharisees said, He casteth out devils through the prince of the devils.
35 And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.
36 But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd.
37 Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few;
38 Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.

Jesus Forgives and Heals a Paralyzed Man(A)
9 Jesus stepped into a boat, crossed over and came to his own town.(B) 2 Some men brought to him a paralyzed man,(C) lying on a mat. When Jesus saw their faith,(D) he said to the man, “Take heart,(E) son; your sins are forgiven.”(F)
3 At this, some of the teachers of the law said to themselves, “This fellow is blaspheming!”(G)
4 Knowing their thoughts,(H) Jesus said, “Why do you entertain evil thoughts in your hearts? 5 Which is easier: to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Get up and walk’? 6 But I want you to know that the Son of Man(I) has authority on earth to forgive sins.” So he said to the paralyzed man, “Get up, take your mat and go home.” 7 Then the man got up and went home. 8 When the crowd saw this, they were filled with awe; and they praised God,(J) who had given such authority to man.
The Calling of Matthew(K)
9 As Jesus went on from there, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax collector’s booth. “Follow me,”(L) he told him, and Matthew got up and followed him.
10 While Jesus was having dinner at Matthew’s house, many tax collectors and sinners came and ate with him and his disciples. 11 When the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?”(M)
12 On hearing this, Jesus said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. 13 But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’[a](N) For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”(O)
Jesus Questioned About Fasting(P)
14 Then John’s(Q) disciples came and asked him, “How is it that we and the Pharisees fast often,(R) but your disciples do not fast?”
15 Jesus answered, “How can the guests of the bridegroom mourn while he is with them?(S) The time will come when the bridegroom will be taken from them; then they will fast.(T)
16 “No one sews a patch of unshrunk cloth on an old garment, for the patch will pull away from the garment, making the tear worse. 17 Neither do people pour new wine into old wineskins. If they do, the skins will burst; the wine will run out and the wineskins will be ruined. No, they pour new wine into new wineskins, and both are preserved.”
Jesus Raises a Dead Girl and Heals a Sick Woman(U)
18 While he was saying this, a synagogue leader came and knelt before him(V) and said, “My daughter has just died. But come and put your hand on her,(W) and she will live.” 19 Jesus got up and went with him, and so did his disciples.
20 Just then a woman who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years came up behind him and touched the edge of his cloak.(X) 21 She said to herself, “If I only touch his cloak, I will be healed.”
22 Jesus turned and saw her. “Take heart,(Y) daughter,” he said, “your faith has healed you.”(Z) And the woman was healed at that moment.(AA)
23 When Jesus entered the synagogue leader’s house and saw the noisy crowd and people playing pipes,(AB) 24 he said, “Go away. The girl is not dead(AC) but asleep.”(AD) But they laughed at him. 25 After the crowd had been put outside, he went in and took the girl by the hand, and she got up.(AE) 26 News of this spread through all that region.(AF)
Jesus Heals the Blind and the Mute
27 As Jesus went on from there, two blind men followed him, calling out, “Have mercy on us, Son of David!”(AG)
28 When he had gone indoors, the blind men came to him, and he asked them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?”
“Yes, Lord,” they replied.(AH)
29 Then he touched their eyes and said, “According to your faith let it be done to you”;(AI) 30 and their sight was restored. Jesus warned them sternly, “See that no one knows about this.”(AJ) 31 But they went out and spread the news about him all over that region.(AK)
32 While they were going out, a man who was demon-possessed(AL) and could not talk(AM) was brought to Jesus. 33 And when the demon was driven out, the man who had been mute spoke. The crowd was amazed and said, “Nothing like this has ever been seen in Israel.”(AN)
34 But the Pharisees said, “It is by the prince of demons that he drives out demons.”(AO)
The Workers Are Few
35 Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness.(AP) 36 When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them,(AQ) because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.(AR) 37 Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest(AS) is plentiful but the workers are few.(AT) 38 Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”
