論施捨
6 「你們要謹慎，不可為了讓別人看到而在人面前行你們的義[a]，否則就得不到你們天父的報償了。 2 所以你施捨的時候，不要在自己前面吹號，像偽善的人那樣。他們在會堂裡和大街上這樣做，是為了要得人的榮耀。我確實地告訴你們：他們已經得到了他們的報償。 3 你施捨的時候，不要讓你的左手知道右手所做的， 4 好使你的施捨行在隱祕中。這樣，你那在隱祕中察看的父[b]就將回報你[c]。
論禱告
5 「你們禱告的時候，不要像偽善的人那樣。他們喜愛站在會堂裡和十字路口禱告，好讓人看見。我確實地告訴你們：他們已經得到了他們的報償。 6 至於你，你禱告的時候，要進入你的內室，關上門，向你在隱祕中的父禱告。這樣，你那在隱祕中察看的父就將回報你[d]。 7 你們禱告的時候，不要像外邦人那樣，重複無意義的話。他們以為話多了就蒙垂聽。 8 不要像他們那樣，因為在你們祈求以前，你們的父就已經知道你們有什麼需要了。
禱告的典範
9 「因此，你們要這樣禱告：
我們在天上的父，
願你的名被尊為聖，
10 願你的國度來臨。
願你的旨意行在地上，
如同行在天上。
11 我們日用的食糧，願你今天賜給我們。
12 願你饒恕我們的虧欠，
如同我們也饒恕了虧欠我們的人。
13 不要讓我們陷入試探，
救我們脫離那惡者[e]。
因為國度、權柄、榮耀，
全是你的，直到永遠！阿們。[f]
14 「要知道，你們如果饒恕別人的過犯，你們的天父也會饒恕你們。 15 你們如果不饒恕別人[g]，你們的父也不會饒恕你們的過犯。
論禁食
16 「你們禁食的時候，不要像偽善的人那樣愁眉苦臉。他們裝出難看的樣子，好讓人看出他們在禁食。我確實地告訴你們：他們已經得到了他們的報償。 17 至於你，你禁食的時候，要梳頭[h]洗臉， 18 免得被人看出你在禁食；你反而要讓你在隱祕中的父看見。這樣，你那在隱祕中察看的父就將回報你[i]。
論錢財
19 「你們不要為自己在地上積蓄財寶，地上有蟲蛀，會鏽蝕，也有盜賊鑽進來偷竊； 20 而要為自己在天上積蓄財寶：天上既沒有蟲蛀，也不會鏽蝕，也沒有盜賊鑽進來偷竊。 21 要知道，你的財寶在哪裡，你的心也在哪裡。
22 「眼睛是身體的燈，所以，如果你的眼睛純淨[j]，你的全身就光明； 23 如果你的眼睛汙濁，你的全身就黑暗。因此，光如果在你裡面成了黑暗，那是多麼大的黑暗！
24 「一個人不能服事兩個主人。他不是厭惡這個、喜愛那個，就是忠於這個、輕視那個。你們不能既服事神，又服事財富[k]。
不要憂慮
25 「所以我告訴你們：不要為你們的生命而憂慮吃什麼、喝什麼；也不要為你們的身體而憂慮穿什麼；難道生命不比食物更重要，身體不比衣服更重要嗎？ 26 應該看天空的飛鳥：牠們不撒種、不收割，也不收集在倉庫裡，你們的天父尚且養活牠們；難道你們不比飛鳥更重要嗎？ 27 你們當中誰能因著憂慮使自己的壽命延長一刻[l][m]呢？ 28 你們為什麼為衣服憂慮呢？應該觀察野地裡的百合花是怎麼生長的：它們不勞動，也不紡織。 29 但是我告訴你們：就連所羅門在他最榮耀的時候，所穿戴的也不如這些花中的一朵。 30 你們這些小信的人哪！野地裡的草今天還在，明天就被丟進火爐裡，神尚且這樣裝扮它，更何況你們呢！ 31 所以不要憂慮，說『我們吃什麼？喝什麼？穿什麼？』 32 因為這一切都是外邦人所尋求的，而你們的天父已經知道你們需要這一切了。 33 所以你們應當先尋求神的[n]國和神的義，這一切都將加給你們了。 34 因此，不要為明天憂慮，明天自有明天的憂慮。要知道，每一天自有它的難處，這已經夠了。

6 “你们要小心，行善的时候不可张扬，故意叫人看见，否则就不能得你们天父的赏赐了。
2 “因此，周济穷人的时候，不要大吹大擂，像那些伪君子在会堂和街市上所行的一样，以博取人们的赞赏。我实在告诉你们，他们得到的赏赐仅此而已。 3 你们周济穷人的时候，右手所做的别叫左手知道， 4 要不声不响地去做。这样，鉴察隐秘事的天父必赏赐你们。
论祷告
5 “你们祷告时，不要像伪君子那样。他们喜欢站在会堂里和十字路口上公开祷告，故意让人看见。我实在告诉你们，他们得到的赏赐不过是人的赞赏。 6 你们祷告的时候，要进入内室，关上门，向你们肉眼看不见的父祈祷，鉴察隐秘事的父必赏赐你们。
7 “你们祷告时不可像外族人那样喋喋不休，他们以为长篇大论，就必蒙上帝垂听。 8 不可像他们那样，因为在你们祷告以前，你们的父已经知道你们的需要了。
9 “你们应当这样祷告，
“‘我们天上的父，
愿人们都尊崇你的圣名，
10 愿你的国度降临，
愿你的旨意在地上成就，就像在天上成就一样。
11 求你今天赐给我们日用的饮食。
12 饶恕我们的罪，
就像我们饶恕了得罪我们的人。
13 不要让我们遇见诱惑，

论禁食
16 “你们禁食的时候，不要像伪君子那样愁眉苦脸，因为他们故意蓬头垢面，好让别人知道他们在禁食。我实在告诉你们，他们得到的赏赐不过是人的赞赏。 17 你禁食的时候要梳头洗脸， 18 不叫人们看出你在禁食，只让你肉眼看不见的父知道，鉴察隐秘事的父必赏赐你。
论积财
19 “不要为自己在世上积攒财宝，世上有虫子咬，会生锈，又有贼闯进来偷。 20 你们要把财宝积攒在天上，天上没有虫子咬，不会生锈，也没有贼闯进来偷。 21 要知道，你的财宝在哪里，你的心也在哪里。
22 “眼睛是身上的灯。如果你的眼睛明亮，全身都光明； 23 要是你的眼睛昏花[a]，全身就黑暗。如果你里面的光黑暗了，那黑暗是多么大啊！
24 “一个人不能服侍两位主人，因为他不是恨这位、爱那位，就是重这位、轻那位。你们不能又事奉上帝，又崇拜金钱。
不要忧虑衣食
25 “所以我告诉你们，不要为生活忧虑，如吃什么、喝什么，也不要为身体忧虑，如穿什么。难道生命不比饮食重要吗？身体不比穿着重要吗？
26 “你们看天上的飞鸟，它们不种，不收，也不在仓里积存粮食，你们的天父尚且养活它们，难道你们还不如飞鸟贵重吗？ 27 你们谁能用忧虑使自己多活片刻呢？
28 “何必为穿着忧虑呢？你们看看野地的百合花是如何生长的，它们既不劳苦，也不纺织。 29 但我告诉你们，就连所罗门王最显赫时的穿戴还不如一朵百合花！ 30 你们的信心太小了！野地里的草今天还在，明天就丢在炉中化为灰烬，上帝还这样装扮它们，何况你们呢？ 31 所以，你们不要忧虑‘吃什么？喝什么？穿什么？’ 32 因为这些都是外族人的追求，你们的天父知道你们的需要。
33 “你们要先寻求上帝的国和祂的义，这一切都会赐给你们。 34 所以，不要为明天忧虑，因为明天自有明天的忧虑，一天的难处一天担就够了。

Jesus Teaches About Giving
6 “Be careful! When you do good things, don’t do them in front of people to be seen by them. If you do that, then you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.
2 “When you give to the poor, don’t be like the hypocrites. They blow trumpets before they give so that people will see them. They do that in the synagogues and on the streets. They want other people to honor them. I tell you the truth. Those hypocrites already have their full reward. 3 So when you give to the poor, give very secretly. Don’t let anyone know what you are doing. 4 Your giving should be done in secret. Your Father can see what is done in secret, and he will reward you.
Jesus Teaches About Prayer
5 “When you pray, don’t be like the hypocrites. They love to stand in the synagogues and on the street corners and pray loudly. They want people to see them pray. I tell you the truth. They already have their full reward. 6 When you pray, you should go into your room and close the door. Then pray to your Father who cannot be seen. Your Father can see what is done in secret, and he will reward you.
7 “And when you pray, don’t be like those people who don’t know God. They continue saying things that mean nothing. They think that God will hear them because of the many things they say. 8 Don’t be like them. Your Father knows the things you need before you ask him. 9 So when you pray, you should pray like this:
‘Our Father in heaven,
we pray that your name will always be kept holy.
10 We pray that your kingdom will come.
We pray that what you want will be done,
here on earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us the food we need for each day.
12 Forgive the sins we have done,
just as we have forgiven those who did wrong to us.
13 And do not cause us to be tested;
but save us from the Evil One.’
[The kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours forever. Amen.][a]
14 Yes, if you forgive others for the things they do wrong, then your Father in heaven will also forgive you for the things you do wrong. 15 But if you don’t forgive the wrongs of others, then your Father in heaven will not forgive the wrong things you do.
Jesus Teaches About Worship
16 “When you give up eating,[b] don’t put on a sad face like the hypocrites. They make their faces look strange to show people that they are giving up eating. I tell you the truth, those hypocrites already have their full reward. 17 So when you give up eating, comb your hair and wash your face. 18 Then people will not know that you are giving up eating. But your Father, whom you cannot see, will see you. Your Father sees what is done in secret, and he will reward you.
God Is More Important Than Money
19 “Don’t store treasures for yourselves here on earth. Moths and rust will destroy treasures here on earth. And thieves can break into your house and steal the things you have. 20 So store your treasure in heaven. The treasures in heaven cannot be destroyed by moths or rust. And thieves cannot break in and steal that treasure. 21 Your heart will be where your treasure is.
22 “The eye is a light for the body. If your eyes are good, then your whole body will be full of light. 23 But if your eyes are evil, then your whole body will be full of darkness. And if the only light you have is really darkness, then you have the worst darkness.
24 “No one can be a slave to two masters. He will hate one master and love the other. Or he will follow one master and refuse to follow the other. So you cannot serve God and money at the same time.
Don’t Worry
25 “So I tell you, don’t worry about the food you need to live. And don’t worry about the clothes you need for your body. Life is more important than food. And the body is more important than clothes. 26 Look at the birds in the air. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns. But your heavenly Father feeds the birds. And you know that you are worth much more than the birds. 27 You cannot add any time to your life by worrying about it.
28 “And why do you worry about clothes? Look at the flowers in the field. See how they grow. They don’t work or make clothes for themselves. 29 But I tell you that even Solomon with his riches was not dressed as beautifully as one of these flowers. 30 God clothes the grass in the field like that. The grass is living today, but tomorrow it is thrown into the fire to be burned. So you can be even more sure that God will clothe you. Don’t have so little faith! 31 Don’t worry and say, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear?’ 32 All the people who don’t know God keep trying to get these things. And your Father in heaven knows that you need them. 33 The thing you should want most is God’s kingdom and doing what God wants. Then all these other things you need will be given to you. 34 So don’t worry about tomorrow. Each day has enough trouble of its own. Tomorrow will have its own worries.
