登山寶訓
5 耶穌看見人群，就上了山，坐下來。他的門徒們來到他面前， 2 他就開口教導他們，說：
天國八福
3 「靈裡貧乏的人是蒙福的，
因為天國是他們的。
4 悲傷的人是蒙福的，
因為他們將受到安慰。
5 謙和的人是蒙福的，
因為他們將繼承那地。
6 飢渴慕義的人是蒙福的，
因為他們將得飽足。
7 憐憫人的人是蒙福的，
因為他們將蒙憐憫。
8 心裡潔淨的人是蒙福的，
因為他們將看見神。
9 使人和睦的人是蒙福的，
因為他們將被稱為『神的兒女』。
10 為義受逼迫的人是蒙福的，
因為天國是他們的。
11 「當人們因我的緣故責罵你們、逼迫你們、用各種捏造出來的惡事毀謗你們的時候，你們就是蒙福的。 12 你們當歡喜，當快樂，因為你們在天上的報償是大的。要知道，那些人也這樣逼迫了在你們以前的先知們。
信徒是光是鹽
13 「你們是地上的鹽。鹽如果失去了味道，還能用什麼來把它醃成鹹的呢？它再也沒有用處，只好被丟在外面，任人踐踏。
14 「你們是世界的光。建在山上的城是不能隱藏的； 15 人點亮了油燈，也不會放在斗[a]底下，而會放在燈臺上，它就照亮屋子裡所有的人。 16 同樣，你們的光也應當照耀在人前，使他們看見你們的美好工作，就榮耀你們在天上的父。
基督成全律法
17 「你們不要以為我來是要廢除律法和先知[b]，我來不是要廢除，而是要成全。 18 我確實地告訴你們：即使天和地都消逝了，律法的一點一畫也絕不會消逝，直到一切都成就。 19 所以，如果有人違犯了這些誡命中最小的一條，又教導人也這樣做，他在天國裡將被稱為最小的；但無論誰遵行這些誡命，又教導人也這樣做，這個人在天國裡將被稱為大的。 20 我告訴你們：你們的義如果不勝過經文士們和法利賽人的義，就絕不能進入天國。
凶殺始於心
21 「你們聽過那吩咐古人的話：『不可殺人。[c]殺人的，當遭受審判。』 22 但是我告訴你們：所有向他弟兄[d]發怒的，當遭受審判；罵他弟兄『廢物』的，當遭受議會的審判；罵『蠢貨』的，當遭受烈火的地獄。 23 所以，如果你在祭壇獻上祭物的時候，在那裡想起弟兄向你懷著怨， 24 就要把祭物留在祭壇前，先去與弟兄和好，然後再回來獻上你的祭物。 25 你要趁著與你的對頭還在路上的時候，趕快與他和解，免得他把你交給審判官，審判官把你交給差役，你就會被投進監獄了。 26 我確實地告訴你：除非你還清了最後的一個銅幣[e]，否則你絕不能從那裡出來。
內心的姦淫
27 「你們聽過那吩咐[f]：『不可通姦。』[g] 28 但是我告訴你們：所有懷著欲念看女人的，就已經在心裡和她通姦了。 29 如果你的右眼使你絆倒，就把它剜出來丟掉！因為對你來說，失去你身體的一部分[h]，總比你全身被丟進地獄要好。 30 如果你的右手使你絆倒，就把它砍下來丟掉！因為對你來說，失去你身體的一部分，總比你全身下地獄要好。
譴責離婚行為
31 「又有吩咐：『如果有人休妻，要給妻子一份休書。』[i] 32 但是我告訴你們：凡是休妻的，除非為了淫亂的緣故，否則就是讓她犯通姦罪了；凡是娶了被休的女人的，也是犯通姦罪。
說誠實話
33 「另外，你們聽過那吩咐古人的話：『不可起假誓。你所起的誓，總要向主償還。』[j] 34 但是我告訴你們：根本不可起誓。不可指著天起誓，因為天是神的寶座； 35 不可指著地起誓，因為地是神的腳凳；不可用耶路撒冷起誓，因為耶路撒冷是那大君王的城； 36 也不可指著自己的頭起誓，因為你不能使一根頭髮變白或變黑。 37 你們的話語應該如此：是，就說是；不是，就說不是。再多說，就是出於那惡者。
以德報怨
38 「你們聽過這吩咐：『以眼還眼，以牙還牙。』[k] 39 但是我告訴你們：不要與惡人作對。有人打你的右臉，把左臉[l]也轉給他； 40 有人想要控告你，並要拿走你的裡衣[m]，你就連外衣也由他拿去； 41 有人強迫你走一里[n]路，你就與他一起走兩里； 42 有人求你，你要給他；有人要向你借什麼，你不要拒絕。
愛敵人
43 「你們聽過這吩咐：『要愛你的鄰人[o]，恨你的敵人[p]。』 44 但是我告訴你們：要愛你們的敵人[q]，[r]為那些[s]逼迫你們的人禱告， 45 好讓你們成為你們天父的兒女。因為他使太陽升起，對著惡人，也對著好人；降雨給義人，也給不義的人。 46 其實你們如果只愛那些愛你們的人，會有什麼報償呢？連稅吏不也這樣做嗎？ 47 你們如果只問候自己的兄弟，這樣做有什麼特別呢？連外邦人[t]不也這樣做嗎？ 48 所以，你們當成為完全的，就像你們的天父是完全的。

Saligprisningarna
5 När Jesus såg folkskarorna gick han upp på berget. Han satte sig ner, och hans lärjungar kom fram till honom. 2 Då började han tala och undervisa dem:
3 (A) "Saliga är de som är fattiga i anden,
för dem tillhör himmelriket.
4 (B) Saliga är de som sörjer,
för de ska bli tröstade.
5 (C) Saliga är de ödmjuka,
för de ska ärva jorden[a].
6 (D) Saliga är de som hungrar
och törstar efter rättfärdighet,
för de ska bli mättade.
7 (E) Saliga är de barmhärtiga,
för de ska få barmhärtighet.
8 (F) Saliga är de renhjärtade,
för de ska se Gud.
9 Saliga är de som skapar frid[b],
för de ska kallas Guds barn.
10 (G) Saliga är de som blir förföljda
för rättfärdighetens skull,
för dem tillhör himmelriket.
11 (H) Saliga är ni när människor hånar och förföljer er och ljuger och säger allt möjligt ont om er för min skull. 12 (I) Gläd er och jubla, för er lön är stor i himlen. På samma sätt förföljde man profeterna före er.
Jordens salt och världens ljus
13 (J) Ni är jordens salt. Men om saltet förlorar sin sälta, hur ska man då få det salt igen? Det duger inte till annat än att kastas ut och trampas ner av människorna.
14 (K) Ni är världens ljus. En stad som ligger på ett berg kan inte döljas. 15 (L) Och man tänder inte ett ljus[c] och sätter det under skäppan[d], utan man sätter det på hållaren så att det lyser för alla i huset. 16 (M) På samma sätt ska ert ljus lysa för människorna, så att de ser era goda gärningar och prisar er Far i himlen.
Jesus och lagen
17 Tro inte att jag har kommit för att upphäva lagen eller profeterna. Jag har inte kommit för att upphäva utan för att uppfylla. 18 (N) Jag säger er sanningen[e]: Innan himmel och jord förgår ska inte en bokstav[f], inte en prick[g] i lagen[h] förgå, inte förrän allt har skett.
19 (O) Därför ska den som upphäver ett av de minsta av dessa bud och lär människorna så kallas minst i himmelriket. Men den som håller dem och lär ut dem, han ska kallas stor i himmelriket. 20 (P) För jag säger er: Om inte er rättfärdighet går långt över de skriftlärdas och fariseernas, kommer ni aldrig in i himmelriket.
Mord och vrede
21 (Q) Ni har hört att det är sagt till fäderna: Du ska inte mörda, och Den som mördar är skyldig inför domstolen.[i] 22 Jag säger er: Den som blir vred på sin broder är skyldig inför domstolen, och den som säger ’idiot[j]’ till sin broder är skyldig inför Rådet[k], och den som säger ’dåre’ är skyldig och döms till det brinnande Gehenna[l].
23 Därför, om du bär fram din gåva till altaret och där kommer ihåg att din broder har något emot dig[m], 24 (R) så lämna din gåva framför altaret och gå först och försona dig med din broder. Kom sedan och bär fram din gåva.
25 (S) Skynda dig att göra upp med din motpart medan du är med honom på vägen. Annars kan han överlämna dig till domaren, och domaren till vakten och du sätts i fängelse. 26 Jag säger dig sanningen: Du kommer inte ut därifrån förrän du har betalat till sista öret.
Äktenskapsbrott
27 (T) Ni har hört att det är sagt: Du ska inte begå äktenskapsbrott.[n] 28 (U) Jag säger er: Den som ser med begär på en kvinna[o] har redan begått äktenskapsbrott med henne i sitt hjärta. 29 (V) Om ditt högra öga förleder dig till synd, så riv ut det och kasta det ifrån dig! Det är bättre för dig att en del av din kropp går förlorad än att hela din kropp kastas i Gehenna. 30 Och om din högra hand förleder dig till synd, så hugg av den och kasta den ifrån dig! Det är bättre för dig att en del av din kropp går förlorad än att hela din kropp hamnar i Gehenna.
31 Det är sagt: Den som skiljer sig från sin hustru ska ge henne skilsmässobrev.[p] 32 (W) Jag säger er: Den som skiljer sig från sin hustru av annat skäl än sexuell synd, han blir orsak till att äktenskapsbrott begås[q] med henne. Och den som gifter sig med en frånskild kvinna begår äktenskapsbrott.
Ja och nej
33 Ni har också hört att det är sagt till fäderna: Du ska inte svära falskt, och: Du ska hålla din ed inför Herren.[r] 34 (X) Jag säger er: Ni ska inte svära alls – varken vid himlen, för den är Guds tron, 35 (Y) eller vid jorden, för den är pallen för hans fötter, eller vid Jerusalem, för det är den store Kungens stad. 36 Du ska inte heller svära vid ditt huvud, för du kan inte göra ett enda hårstrå vitt eller svart. 37 Ert ord ska vara ’ja’ eller ’nej’.[s] Allt därutöver kommer från den onde[t].
Kärlek och inte hämnd
38 Ni har hört att det är sagt: Öga för öga och tand för tand.[u] 39 (Z) Jag säger er: Stå inte emot den som är ond. Om någon slår[v] dig på högra kinden, vänd då också andra kinden mot honom. 40 (AA) Om någon vill dra dig inför rätta och ta din tunika[w], så låt honom få manteln[x] också. 41 Om någon tvingar dig att gå med en mil[y], så gå två mil med honom. 42 (AB) Ge åt den som ber dig, och vänd dig inte bort från den som vill låna av dig.
43 Ni har hört att det är sagt:[z] Du ska älska din nästaoch hata din fiende[aa]. 44 (AC) Jag säger er: Älska era fiender och be för dem som förföljer er. 45 Då är ni er himmelske Fars barn, för han låter sin sol gå upp över onda och goda och låter det regna över rättfärdiga och orättfärdiga.
46 För om ni älskar dem som älskar er, vilken lön får ni för det? Gör inte tullindrivare[ab] det också? 47 (AD) Och om ni bara hälsar på era bröder, vad gör ni för märkvärdigt med det? Gör inte hedningar det också? 48 Var alltså fullkomliga, så som er himmelske Far är fullkomlig.

14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

23 Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee;
24 Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.
25 Agree with thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him; lest at any time the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison.
26 Verily I say unto thee, Thou shalt by no means come out thence, till thou hast paid the uttermost farthing.
27 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:
28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.
29 And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.
30 And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.
31 It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement:
32 But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.
33 Again, ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths:
34 But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God's throne:
35 Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King.
36 Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black.
37 But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.
38 Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:
39 But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.
40 And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloak also.
41 And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain.
42 Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.
43 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.
44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.
46 For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?
47 And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?
48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

Believers Are Salt and Light(R)

A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do they (U)light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, (V)that they may see your good works and (W)glorify your Father in heaven.
Christ Fulfills the Law
17 (X)“Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill. 18 For assuredly, I say to you, (Y)till heaven and earth pass away, one [b]jot or one [c]tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled. 19 (Z)Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 20 For I say to you, that unless your righteousness exceeds (AA)the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.
Murder Begins in the Heart(AB)
21 “You have heard that it was said to those [d]of old, (AC)‘You shall not murder, and whoever murders will be in danger of the judgment.’ 22 But I say to you that (AD)whoever is angry with his brother [e]without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment. And whoever says to his brother, (AE)‘Raca!’[f] shall be in danger of the council. But whoever says, [g]‘You fool!’ shall be in danger of [h]hell fire. 23 Therefore (AF)if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, 24 (AG)leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. Adultery in the Heart

Marriage Is Sacred and Binding(AN)
31 “Furthermore it has been said, (AO)‘Whoever divorces his wife, let him give her a certificate of divorce.’ 32 But I say to you that (AP)whoever divorces his wife for any reason except [l]sexual immorality causes her to commit adultery; and whoever marries a woman who is divorced commits adultery.
Jesus Forbids Oaths
33 “Again you have heard that (AQ)it was said to those of [m]old, (AR)‘You shall not swear falsely, but (AS)shall perform your oaths to the Lord.’ 34 But I say to you, (AT)do not swear at all: neither by heaven, for it is (AU)God’s throne; 35 nor by the earth, for it is His footstool; nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of (AV)the great King. 36 Nor shall you swear by your head, because you cannot make one hair white or black. 37 (AW)But let [n]your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No,’ ‘No.’ For whatever is more than these is from the evil one.
Go the Second Mile(AX)
38 “You have heard that it was said, (AY)‘An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.’ 39 (AZ)But I tell you not to resist an evil person. (BA)But whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also. 40 If anyone wants to sue you and take away your tunic, let him have your cloak also. 41 And whoever (BB)compels you to go one mile, go with him two. 42 Give to him who asks you, and (BC)from him who wants to borrow from you do not turn away.
Love Your Enemies(BD)
43 “You have heard that it was said, (BE)‘You shall love your neighbor (BF)and hate your enemy.’ 44 [o]But I say to you, (BG)love your enemies, bless those who curse you, (BH)do good to those who hate you, and pray (BI)for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, 45 that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for (BJ)He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. 46 (BK)For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? 47 And if you greet your [p]brethren only, what do you do more than others? Do not even the [q]tax collectors do so? 48 (BL)Therefore you shall be perfect, just (BM)as your Father in heaven is perfect.
