25 「那時，天國就像十個伴娘提著燈去迎接新郎， 2 其中五個是糊塗的，五個是聰明的。 3 五個糊塗的只顧拿著燈，卻不預備油； 4 那些聰明的不但拿著燈，還用器皿預備了足夠的油。 5 新郎遲遲未到，她們等得困倦，便打盹睡著了。
6 「到了半夜，忽然聽見有人喊道，『新郎來了！出來迎接吧！』 7 伴娘們醒來，把燈點亮。 8 糊塗的伴娘對聰明的伴娘說，『請給我們一些油吧，因為我們的燈快要滅了！』
9 「聰明的伴娘回答說，『不行，我們的油不夠大家用的，你們去油店買吧！』
10 「當糊塗的伴娘去買油的時候，新郎來了。那些預備好的伴娘跟他一同進去參加婚宴，門就關了。 11 後來，其他伴娘回來了，喊道，『主啊！主啊！請給我們開門吧！』
12 「新郎卻說，『我實在告訴你們，我不認識你們。』
13 「所以，你們要警醒，因為你們不知道我回來的日子和時辰。
才幹的比喻
14 「天國就像一個人即將遠行，他召來自己的奴僕，把產業託付給他們， 15 按各人的才幹分別交給一個人五千銀幣，一個人兩千銀幣，一個人一千銀幣，然後便離開了。 16 得到五千銀幣的立刻去做買賣，結果賺了五千； 17 得到兩千銀幣的也賺了兩千； 18 可是得到一千銀幣的卻挖了一個洞，把主人的錢藏在地裡。 19 過了很久，這些奴僕的主人回來了，要跟他們結帳。 20 得到五千銀幣的奴僕帶來了另外的五千，說，『主人，你交給我五千銀幣，請看，我又賺了五千。』
21 「主人說，『做得好！你真是個又良善又忠心的奴僕。既然你在小事上忠心，我要把更大的事交給你。進來分享你主人的快樂吧！』
22 「得到兩千銀幣的奴僕也上前說，『主人，你交給我兩千銀幣，請看，我又賺了兩千。』
23 「主人說，『做得好！你真是個又良善又忠心的奴僕，既然你在小事上忠心，我要把更大的事交給你。進來分享你主人的快樂吧！』
24 「得到一千銀幣的奴僕也上前說，『主人，我知道你為人苛刻，沒有播種的地方也要收割，沒有撒種的地方也要收穫。 25 我很害怕，就去把你的錢藏在地裡。請看，這是你的錢。』
26 「主人說，『你這又可惡又懶惰的奴僕！既然你知道我沒有播種的地方也要收割，沒有撒種的地方也要收穫， 27 就應該把錢存入錢莊，等我回來時，可以連本帶利還給我。』
28 「主人接著說，『收回他的一千銀幣，賞給那個有一萬銀幣的奴僕。 29 因為凡有的，還要給他更多，使他豐富有餘；凡沒有的，連他僅有的，也要奪去。 30 把這沒用的奴僕扔進外邊的黑暗裡，他必在那裡哀哭切齒。』
末日的審判
31 「當人子在祂的榮耀中與眾天使降臨的時候，祂要坐在榮耀的寶座上， 32 萬民要聚集在祂面前。祂要把他們分開，就像牧人把綿羊和山羊分開一樣。 33 祂要把綿羊放在右邊，山羊放在左邊。 34 那時，王會對右邊的人說，『我父所賜福的人啊，來承受創世以來為你們預備的國度吧。 35 因為我饑餓時，你們給我吃的；我口渴時，你們給我喝的；我身在異鄉時，你們接待我； 36 我赤身露體時，你們給我穿的；我生病時，你們照顧我；我坐牢時，你們來看我。』

41 「王又對左邊的人說，『你們這些被咒詛的人，走開！到專為魔鬼及其使者預備的永遠不滅的火裡去吧！ 42 因為我饑餓時，你們不給我吃的；我口渴時，你們不給我喝的； 43 我身在異鄉時，你們不接待我；我赤身露體時，你們不給我衣服；我生病時，你們不照顧我；我坐牢時，你們不來看我。』
44 「他們會問，『主啊，我們什麼時候見你餓了，或渴了，或身在異鄉，或赤身露體，或病了，或坐牢，卻沒有幫助你呢？』
45 「王會回答說，『我實在告訴你們，你們沒有幫助我最卑微的一個弟兄，就是沒有幫助我。』 46 這些人要受永遠的刑罰，但義人要得到永遠的生命。」

The Parable of the 10 Virgins
25 “Then the kingdom of heaven will be like 10 virgins[a] who took their lamps and went out to meet the groom.(A) 2 Five of them were foolish and five were sensible.(B) 3 When the foolish took their lamps, they didn’t take olive oil with them. 4 But the sensible ones took oil in their flasks with their lamps. 5 Since the groom was delayed, they all became drowsy and fell asleep.
6 “In the middle of the night there was a shout: ‘Here’s the groom! Come out to meet him.’
7 “Then all those virgins got up and trimmed their lamps. 8 But the foolish ones said to the sensible ones, ‘Give us some of your oil, because our lamps are going out.’
9 “The sensible ones answered, ‘No, there won’t be enough for us and for you. Go instead to those who sell, and buy oil for yourselves.’
10 “When they had gone to buy some, the groom arrived. Then those who were ready went in with him to the wedding banquet, and the door was shut.(C)
11 “Later the rest of the virgins also came and said, ‘Master, master, open up for us!’
12 “But he replied, ‘I assure you: I do not know you!’
13 “Therefore be alert, because you don’t know either the day or the hour.[b]
The Parable of the Talents
14 “For it is just like a man going on a journey.(D) He called his own slaves and turned over his possessions to them. 15 To one he gave five talents;[c] to another, two; and to another, one—to each according to his own ability. Then he went on a journey.(E) Immediately 16 the man who had received five talents went, put them to work, and earned five more. 17 In the same way the man with two earned two more. 18 But the man who had received one talent went off, dug a hole in the ground, and hid his master’s money.
19 “After a long time the master of those slaves came and settled accounts with them. 20 The man who had received five talents approached, presented five more talents, and said, ‘Master, you gave me five talents. Look, I’ve earned five more talents.’
21 “His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful slave! You were faithful over a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Share your master’s joy!’(F)
22 “Then the man with two talents also approached. He said, ‘Master, you gave me two talents. Look, I’ve earned two more talents.’
23 “His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful slave! You were faithful over a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Share your master’s joy!’
24 “Then the man who had received one talent also approached and said, ‘Master, I know you. You’re a difficult man, reaping where you haven’t sown and gathering where you haven’t scattered seed.(G) 25 So I was afraid and went off and hid your talent in the ground. Look, you have what is yours.’
26 “But his master replied to him, ‘You evil, lazy slave!(H) If you knew that I reap where I haven’t sown and gather where I haven’t scattered, 27 then[d] you should have deposited my money with the bankers. And when I returned I would have received my money[e] back with interest.
28 “‘So take the talent from him and give it to the one who has 10 talents. 29 For to everyone who has, more will be given, and he will have more than enough. But from the one who does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him.(I) 30 And throw this good-for-nothing slave into the outer darkness.(J) In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’
The Sheep and the Goats
31 “When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the angels[f](K) with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory.(L) 32 All the nations[g](M) will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, just as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.(N) 33 He will put the sheep on His right and the goats on the left. 34 Then the King will say to those on His right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by My Father, inherit the kingdom(O) prepared for you from the foundation of the world.(P)
35 For I was hungry
and you gave Me something to eat;
I was thirsty
and you gave Me something to drink;
I was a stranger and you took Me in;
36 I was naked and you clothed Me;
I was sick and you took care of Me;
I was in prison and you visited Me.’(Q)
37 “Then the righteous will answer Him, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You something to drink? 38 When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or without clothes and clothe You? 39 When did we see You sick, or in prison, and visit You?’
40 “And the King will answer them, ‘I assure you: Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of Mine, you did for Me.’(R) 41 Then He will also say to those on the left, ‘Depart from Me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the Devil and his angels!(S)
42 For I was hungry
and you gave Me nothing to eat;
I was thirsty
and you gave Me nothing to drink;
43 I was a stranger
and you didn’t take Me in;
I was naked
and you didn’t clothe Me,
sick and in prison
and you didn’t take care of Me.’
44 “Then they too will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry, or thirsty, or a stranger, or without clothes, or sick, or in prison, and not help You?’
45 “Then He will answer them, ‘I assure you: Whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for Me either.’(T)
46 “And they will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”(U)

A Story about Ten Young Women
25 (A) The kingdom of heaven is like what happened one night when ten young women took their oil lamps and went to a wedding to meet the groom.[a] 2 Five of them were foolish and five were wise. 3 The foolish ones took their lamps, but no extra oil. 4 The ones who were wise took along extra oil for their lamps.
5 The groom was late arriving, and the young women became drowsy and fell asleep. 6 Then in the middle of the night someone shouted, “Here's the groom! Come to meet him!”
7 When the women got up and started getting their lamps ready, 8 the foolish ones said to the others, “Let us have some of your oil! Our lamps are going out.”
9 Those who were wise answered, “There's not enough oil for all of us! Go and buy some for yourselves.”
10 While the foolish ones were on their way to get some oil, the groom arrived. The five who were ready went into the wedding, and the doors were closed. 11 (B) Later the others returned and shouted, “Sir, sir! Open the door for us!”
12 But the groom replied, “I don't even know you!”
13 So, my disciples, always be ready! You don't know the day or the time when all this will happen.
A Story about Three Servants
(Luke 19.11-27)
14 (C) The kingdom is also like what happened when a man went away and put his three servants in charge of all he owned. 15 The man knew what each servant could do. So he handed 5,000 coins to the first servant, 2,000 to the second, and 1,000 to the third. Then he left the country.
16 As soon as the man had gone, the servant with the 5,000 coins used them to earn 5,000 more. 17 The servant who had 2,000 coins did the same with his money and earned 2,000 more. 18 But the servant with 1,000 coins dug a hole and hid his master's money in the ground.
19 Some time later the master of those servants returned. He called them in and asked what they had done with his money. 20 The servant who had been given 5,000 coins brought them in with the 5,000 that he had earned. He said, “Sir, you gave me 5,000 coins, and I have earned 5,000 more.”
21 “Wonderful!” his master replied. “You are a good and faithful servant. I left you in charge of only a little, but now I will put you in charge of much more. Come and share in my happiness!”
22 Next, the servant who had been given 2,000 coins came in and said, “Sir, you gave me 2,000 coins, and I have earned 2,000 more.”
23 “Wonderful!” his master replied. “You are a good and faithful servant. I left you in charge of only a little, but now I will put you in charge of much more. Come and share in my happiness!”
24 The servant who had been given 1,000 coins then came in and said, “Sir, I know that you are hard to work for. You harvest what you don't plant and gather crops where you haven't scattered seed. 25 I was frightened and went out and hid your money in the ground. Here is every single coin!”
26 The master of the servant told him, “You are lazy and good-for-nothing! You know I harvest what I don't plant and gather crops where I haven't scattered seed. 27 You could have at least put my money in the bank, so I could have earned interest on it.”
28 Then the master said, “Now your money will be taken away and given to the servant with 10,000 coins! 29 (D) Everyone who has something will be given more, and they will have more than enough. But everything will be taken from those who don't have anything. 30 (E) You are a worthless servant, and you will be thrown out into the dark where people will cry and grit their teeth in pain.”
The Final Judgment
31 (F) When the Son of Man comes in his glory with all his angels, he will sit on his royal throne. 32 The people of all nations will be brought before him, and he will separate them, as shepherds separate their sheep from their goats.
33 He will place the sheep on his right and the goats on his left. 34 Then the king will say to those on his right, “My father has blessed you! Come and receive the kingdom that was prepared for you before the world was created. 35 (G) When I was hungry, you gave me something to eat, and when I was thirsty, you gave me something to drink. When I was a stranger, you welcomed me, 36 and when I was naked, you gave me clothes to wear. When I was sick, you took care of me, and when I was in jail, you visited me.”
37 Then the ones who pleased the Lord will ask, “When did we give you something to eat or drink? 38 When did we welcome you as a stranger or give you clothes to wear 39 or visit you while you were sick or in jail?”
40 The king will answer, “Whenever you did it for any of my people, no matter how unimportant they seemed, you did it for me.”
41 Then the king will say to those on his left, “Get away from me! You are under God's curse. Go into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels! 42 I was hungry, but you did not give me anything to eat, and I was thirsty, but you did not give me anything to drink. 43 I was a stranger, but you did not welcome me, and I was naked, but you did not give me any clothes to wear. I was sick and in jail, but you did not take care of me.”
44 Then the people will ask, “Lord, when did we fail to help you when you were hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in jail?”
45 The king will say to them, “Whenever you failed to help any of my people, no matter how unimportant they seemed, you failed to do it for me.”
46 (H) Then Jesus said, “Those people will be punished forever. But the ones who pleased God will have eternal life.”

- 25.1 to meet the groom: Some manuscripts add “and the bride.” It was the custom for the groom to go to the home of the bride's parents to get his bride. Young women and other guests would then go with them to the home of the groom's parents, where the wedding feast would take place.
