登山變相
17 過了六天，耶穌帶著彼得、雅各和雅各的弟弟[a]約翰，領他們悄悄地上了一座高山。 2 在他們面前，耶穌變了形像，臉面光耀如日，衣服潔白如光。 3 這時候，忽然摩西和以利亞向他們顯現，與耶穌談話。
4 彼得對耶穌說：「主啊，我們在這裡真好！如果你願意，我就在這裡搭[b]三座帳幕，一座為你，一座為摩西，一座為以利亞。」
5 彼得還在說話的時候，忽然有一朵燦爛的雲彩籠罩了他們，看哪，有聲音從雲中出來，說：
「這是我的愛子，
我所喜悅的。
你們當聽從他！」
6 門徒們聽見了，就把臉伏在地上，極其懼怕。
7 耶穌前來，拍拍他們說：「起來，不要怕！」 8 他們抬頭一看，只看見耶穌一個人，沒有別人。 9 他們下山的時候，耶穌吩咐他們：「人子從死人中復活以前，不要把這異象告訴任何人。」
10 門徒們問耶穌，說：「那麼，經文士們為什麼說以利亞必須先來呢？」
11 耶穌回答說：「以利亞確實要來[c]，並且要恢復萬事。 12 但是我告訴你們：以利亞已經來了，人們卻不認他，反而任意對待他；照樣，人子也將受到他們的苦害。」 13 門徒們這才領悟，耶穌向他們說的是指施洗者[d]約翰。
信心的力量
14 他們來到眾人那裡，有一個人來到耶穌面前，跪下來， 15 說：「主啊，可憐我的兒子吧！他患了癲癇病，十分痛苦，經常跌進火裡，也經常跌進水裡。 16 我帶他到你的門徒們那裡，可是他們不能使他痊癒。」
17 耶穌回答說：「唉，這個不信、歪曲的世代！我還要與你們在一起多久呢？我還要容忍你們多久呢？把孩子帶到我這裡來吧！」 18 耶穌斥責那鬼魔，鬼魔就從孩子身上出來；從那一刻起，孩子就痊癒了。
19 門徒們悄悄地前來問耶穌：「我們為什麼不能趕出那鬼魔呢？」
20 耶穌回答說：「因為你們小信。我確實地告訴你們：如果你們有像一粒芥菜種子那樣的信仰，就是對這座山說『從這裡移到那裡！』它也將移開；而且在你們，將沒有不可能的事。 21 不過對這一類的鬼魔，如果不藉著禱告和禁食，它就不出來。[e]」
再次預言受難
22 他們聚集在[f]加利利的時候，耶穌對門徒們說：「人子將要被交在[g]人的手中。 23 他們要殺害他，然後在第三天，他要復活。」門徒們就極其憂傷。
繳納聖殿稅
24 他們來到迦百農，那些收聖殿稅[h]的人來到彼得那裡，說：「你們的老師不納聖殿稅嗎？」
25 彼得說：「當然納。」
彼得進了屋子，耶穌先問他：「西門，這件事你怎麼看？地上的眾君王向誰徵收關稅和丁稅呢？向自己的兒女，還是向外人呢？」
26 彼得回答說：「向外人。」
耶穌說：「因此兒女可以免了。 27 但為了不絆倒他們[i]，你到湖邊[j]去投下魚鉤，拿起釣上來的第一條魚，打開魚的嘴，會發現一個大銀幣[k]。你就把它拿去，為我和你交給他們吧。」

Jesus with Moses and Elijah
17 Six days later, Jesus took Peter, James, and John the brother of James up on a high mountain. They were all alone there. 2 While they watched, Jesus was changed. His face became bright like the sun. And his clothes became white as light. 3 Then two men were there, talking with him. The men were Moses and Elijah.[a]
4 Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good that we are here. If you want, I will put three tents here—one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.”
5 While Peter was talking, a bright cloud covered them. A voice came from the cloud. The voice said, “This is my Son and I love him. I am very pleased with him. Obey him!”
6 The followers with Jesus heard the voice. They were so frightened that they fell to the ground. 7 But Jesus went to them and touched them. He said, “Stand up. Don’t be afraid.” 8 When the followers looked up, they saw Jesus was now alone.
9 When Jesus and the followers were coming down the mountain, Jesus commanded them, “Don’t tell anyone about the things you saw on the mountain. Wait until the Son of Man has been raised from death. Then you may tell.”
10 The followers asked Jesus, “Why do the teachers of the law say that Elijah must come first, before the Christ comes?”
11 Jesus answered, “They are right to say that Elijah is coming. And it is true that Elijah will make everything the way it should be. 12 But I tell you, Elijah has already come. People did not know who he was. They did to him everything they wanted to do. It will be the same with the Son of Man. Those same people will make the Son of Man suffer.” 13 Then the followers understood that Jesus was talking about John the Baptist.
Jesus Heals a Sick Boy
14 Jesus and his followers went back to the crowd. A man came to Jesus and bowed before him. 15 The man said, “Lord, please help my son. He has epilepsy[b] and is suffering very much. He often falls into the fire or into the water. 16 I brought him to your followers, but they could not cure him.”
17 Jesus answered, “You people have no faith. Your lives are all wrong. How long must I stay with you? How long must I continue to be patient with you? Bring the boy here.” 18 Jesus gave a strong command to the demon inside the boy. Then the demon came out, and the boy was healed.
19 The followers came to Jesus when he was alone. They said, “Why couldn’t we force the demon out?”
20 Jesus answered, “You were not able to drive out the demon because your faith is too small. I tell you the truth. If your faith is as big as a mustard seed,[c] you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there.’ And the mountain will move. All things will be possible for you. 21 [That kind of spirit comes out only if you use prayer and give up eating.]”[d]
Jesus Talks About His Death
22 Later, the followers met together in Galilee. Jesus said to them, “The Son of Man will be given into the control of some men. 23 They will kill him, but on the third day he will be raised from death.” And the followers were filled with sadness.
Jesus Talks About Paying Taxes
24 Jesus and his followers went to Capernaum. There some men came to Peter. They were the men who collected the Temple tax. They asked, “Does your teacher pay the Temple tax?”
25 Peter answered, “Yes, Jesus pays the tax.”
Peter went into the house where Jesus was. Before Peter could speak, Jesus said to him, “The kings on the earth collect different kinds of taxes. But who are the people who pay the taxes? Are they the king’s children? Or do others pay the taxes? What do you think?”
26 Peter answered, “Other people pay the taxes.”
Jesus said to Peter, “Then the children of the king don’t have to pay taxes. 27 But we don’t want to make these tax collectors angry. So go to the lake and fish. After you catch the first fish, open its mouth. Inside its mouth you will find a coin. Take that coin and give it to the tax collectors. That will pay the tax for you and me.”

17 Sex dagar därefter[a] tog Jesus med sig Petrus och Jakob och hans bror Johannes och förde dem upp på ett högt berg för att vara ensam med dem. 2 Och han förvandlades inför dem: hans ansikte lyste som solen, och hans kläder blev vita som ljuset. 3 Och se, Mose och Elia visade sig för dem, och de samtalade med honom. 4 Petrus sade till Jesus: "Herre, det är gott för oss att vara här. Om du vill, skall jag göra tre hyddor, en åt dig, en åt Mose och en åt Elia." 5 Medan han ännu talade, se, då sänkte sig ett lysande moln ner över dem. Och en röst ur molnet sade: "Denne är min Son, den Älskade. I honom har jag min glädje. Lyssna till honom!"[b] 6 När lärjungarna hörde det, föll de ner på sina ansikten och greps av stor fruktan. 7 Men Jesus gick fram och rörde vid dem och sade: "Stig upp och var inte förskräckta!" 8 Och när de såg upp, såg de ingen utom Jesus.
9 På väg ner från berget befallde Jesus dem: "Tala inte om för någon vad ni har sett, förrän Människosonen har uppstått från de döda." 10 Lärjungarna frågade honom: "Varför säger då de skriftlärda att Elia först måste komma?"[c] 11 Han svarade: "Elia skall komma och återupprätta allt. 12 Men jag säger er: Elia har redan kommit, och de kände inte igen honom utan gjorde med honom alldeles som de ville. På samma sätt skall också Människosonen få lida genom dem." 13 Då förstod lärjungarna att han hade talat till dem om Johannes Döparen.
Jesus botar en månadssjuk pojke
14 När de sedan kom till folket, gick en man fram till Jesus, föll på knä för honom 15 och sade: "Herre, förbarma dig över min son! Han är månadssjuk och plågas svårt. Ofta faller han i elden och ofta i vattnet. 16 Jag förde honom till dina lärjungar, men de kunde inte bota honom." 17 Jesus svarade: "Du fördärvade släkte som inte vill tro! Hur länge skall jag vara hos er? Hur länge skall jag stå ut med er? För honom till mig!" 18 Och Jesus talade strängt till den onde anden, och den for ut ur honom. Från det ögonblicket var pojken botad.
19 Då lärjungarna hade blivit ensamma med Jesus, gick de fram och frågade: "Varför kunde inte vi driva ut honom?" 20 Han svarade: "Därför att ni har så lite tro. Amen säger jag er: Om ni har tro, bara som ett senapskorn, skall ni säga till detta berg: Flytta dig dit bort, och det kommer att flytta sig. Ingenting skall vara omöjligt för er."[d]
Jesus talar än en gång om sitt lidande
22 När de var samlade i Galileen, sade Jesus till dem: "Människosonen skall utlämnas i människors händer, 23 och de skall döda honom, men på tredje dagen skall han uppstå." Då blev de mycket bedrövade.
Tempelskatten
24 De gick sedan till Kapernaum, och de som tog upp tempelskatten kom fram till Petrus och frågade: "Betalar inte er mästare tempelskatt?"[e] 25 "Jo", svarade han. Sedan Petrus hade kommit hem, frågade Jesus honom, innan Petrus hunnit säga något: "Vad tror du, Simon? Av vilka tar jordens kungar upp tull och skatt, av sina söner eller av andra?" 26 Han svarade: "Av andra". Då sade Jesus till honom: "Alltså är sönerna fria. 27 Men för att vi inte skall stöta oss med dem, så gå ner till sjön och kasta ut en krok. Ta sedan den första fisk som du får upp och öppna gapet på den. Då skall du hitta ett silvermynt.[f] Ta det och ge åt dem för min och din räkning."
