施洗者約翰之死
14 分封王希律聽見耶穌的名聲， 2 就對臣僕說：「這個人是施洗者約翰！他從死裡復活了，所以能夠行這些神蹟。」
3 原來希律為他兄弟腓力的妻子希羅底的緣故，拘捕了約翰，把他捆綁起來關在監裡。 4 因為約翰曾多次對他說：「你娶這個婦人是不對的。」 5 他想殺掉約翰，但怕觸怒百姓，因為他們都認為約翰是先知。
6 在希律的生日那天，希羅底的女兒出來在眾人面前跳舞。希律非常高興， 7 就起誓答應她無論要什麼都可以。 8 她受了母親的指使，說：「請把施洗者約翰的頭放在盤子裡送給我。」 9 希律感到為難，但既然在眾賓客面前起了誓，只好下令給她。 10 他派人到監裡砍了約翰的頭， 11 放在盤子裡送給她，她轉送給她母親。 12 約翰的門徒把屍體領回安葬後，就去告訴耶穌。
13 耶穌聽見這個消息，就獨自坐船退到一處偏僻的地方。眾人得知後，就從各城步行來跟隨祂。
耶穌使五千人吃飽
14 耶穌上了岸，看見一大群人，心裡憐憫他們，就治好了他們當中的病人。 15 黃昏時，門徒過來對耶穌說：「這裡是荒郊野外，天又晚了，請遣散眾人，好讓他們到村莊去自己買些吃的。」
16 耶穌回答說：「他們不用離開，你們給他們吃的吧。」
17 門徒答道：「我們這裡只有五個餅和兩條魚。」
18 耶穌說：「拿來給我。」
19 於是，祂叫眾人坐在草地上，然後拿起那五個餅和兩條魚，舉目望著天祝謝後，就掰開餅遞給門徒，讓他們分給眾人。 20 大家都吃飽了，把剩下的零碎收拾起來，竟裝滿了十二個籃子。 21 當時吃飯的，除了婦女和小孩，約有五千男人。
耶穌在水上行走
22 隨後，耶穌催門徒上船，叫他們先渡到湖對岸，祂則遣散眾人。 23 待眾人都離開了，祂就獨自上山去禱告，在那裡一直待到晚上。
24 那時，門徒的船離岸已遠，遇到逆風，船身被波浪撞擊得搖擺不定。 25 天將破曉的時候，耶穌從水面上向門徒走去。 26 門徒看見有人在湖面上走，都嚇壞了，說：「是幽靈！」他們害怕得又喊又叫。
27 耶穌立刻對他們說：「放心吧！是我，不要怕。」
28 彼得說：「主啊！如果真的是你，就叫我從水面上走到你那裡。」
29 耶穌說：「好，你來吧！」
於是，彼得就從船上下去，走在湖面上，要去耶穌那裡。 30 他看到風浪很大，就害怕起來，身體開始往下沉，便大喊：「主啊，救我！」
31 耶穌馬上伸手拉住他，說：「你信心太小了！為什麼懷疑呢？」
32 他們上了船，風浪就平靜了。 33 船上的人都敬拜祂，說：「你真是上帝的兒子。」
34 他們渡到湖對岸，來到革尼撒勒。 35 當地的人認出是耶穌，就派人去把附近所有的病人都帶到祂面前， 36 求耶穌讓他們摸一摸祂衣裳的穗邊，所有摸過的病人都好了。

14 În vremea aceea, cârmuitorul Irod(A) a auzit vorbindu-se despre Isus 2 şi a zis slujitorilor săi: „Acesta este Ioan Botezătorul! A înviat din morţi şi de aceea se fac minuni prin el.” 3 Căci Irod(B) prinsese pe Ioan, îl legase şi-l pusese în temniţă din pricina Irodiadei, nevasta fratelui său Filip; 4 pentru că Ioan îi zicea: „Nu-ţi(C) este îngăduit s-o ai de nevastă”. 5 Irod ar fi vrut să-l omoare, dar se temea de norod, pentru că(D) norodul privea pe Ioan ca pe un proroc. 6 Dar, când se prăznuia ziua naşterii lui Irod, fata Irodiadei a jucat înaintea oaspeţilor şi a plăcut lui Irod. 7 De aceea i-a făgăduit cu jurământ că îi va da orice va cere. 8 Îndemnată de mamă-sa, ea a zis: „Dă-mi aici, într-o farfurie, capul lui Ioan Botezătorul!” 9 Împăratul s-a întristat, dar, din pricina jurămintelor sale şi de ochii celor ce şedeau la masă împreună cu el, a poruncit să i-l dea. 10 Şi a trimis să taie capul lui Ioan în temniţă. 11 Capul a fost adus într-o farfurie şi dat fetei, care l-a dus la mamă-sa. 12 Ucenicii lui Ioan au venit de i-au luat trupul, l-au îngropat şi s-au dus de au dat de ştire lui Isus.
Înmulţirea pâinilor
13 Isus, când a auzit(E) vestea aceasta, a plecat de acolo într-o corabie, ca să Se ducă singur la o parte, într-un loc pustiu. Noroadele, când au auzit lucrul acesta, au ieşit din cetăţi şi s-au luat după El pe jos. 14 Când a ieşit din corabie, Isus a văzut o gloată mare, I(F) s-a făcut milă de ea şi a vindecat pe cei bolnavi. 15 Când(G) s-a înserat, ucenicii s-au apropiat de El şi I-au zis: „Locul acesta este pustiu, şi vremea iată că a trecut. Dă drumul noroadelor să se ducă prin sate să-şi cumpere de mâncare.” 16 „N-au nevoie să plece”, le-a răspuns Isus; „daţi-le voi să mănânce”. 17 Dar ei I-au zis: „N-avem aici decât cinci pâini şi doi peşti”. 18 Şi El le-a zis: „Aduceţi-i aici la Mine”. 19 Apoi a poruncit noroadelor să şadă pe iarbă, a luat cele cinci pâini şi cei doi peşti, Şi-a ridicat ochii spre cer, a binecuvântat(H), a frânt pâinile şi le-a dat ucenicilor, iar ei le-au împărţit noroadelor. 20 Toţi au mâncat şi s-au săturat şi s-au ridicat douăsprezece coşuri pline cu rămăşiţele de firimituri. 21 Cei ce mâncaseră erau ca la cinci mii de bărbaţi, afară de femei şi de copii.
Umblarea pe mare
22 Îndată după aceea, Isus a silit pe ucenicii Săi să intre în corabie şi să treacă înaintea Lui de partea cealaltă până va da drumul noroadelor. 23 După(I) ce a dat drumul noroadelor, S-a suit pe munte să Se roage singur la o parte. Se înnoptase(J), şi El era singur acolo. 24 În timpul acesta, corabia era învăluită de valuri în mijlocul mării; căci vântul era împotrivă. 25 Când se îngâna ziua cu noaptea[a], Isus a venit la ei, umblând(K) pe mare. 26 Când L-au văzut ucenicii umblând pe mare, s-au înspăimântat şi au zis: „Este o nălucă!” Şi, de frică, au ţipat. 27 Isus le-a zis îndată: „Îndrăzniţi, Eu sunt, nu vă temeţi!” 28 „Doamne”, I-a răspuns Petru, „dacă eşti Tu, porunceşte-mi să vin la Tine pe ape”. 29 „Vino!” i-a zis Isus. Petru a coborât din corabie şi a început să umble pe ape ca să meargă la Isus. 30 Dar, când a văzut că vântul era tare, s-a temut şi, fiindcă începea să se afunde, a strigat: „Doamne, scapă-mă!” 31 Îndată, Isus a întins mâna, l-a apucat şi i-a zis: „Puţin credinciosule, pentru ce te-ai îndoit?” 32 Şi, după ce au intrat în corabie, a stat vântul. 33 Cei ce erau în corabie au venit de s-au(L) închinat înaintea lui Isus şi I-au zis: „Cu adevărat, Tu eşti Fiul lui Dumnezeu!” 34 După(M) ce au trecut marea, au venit în ţinutul Ghenezaretului. 35 Oamenii din locul acela, care cunoşteau pe Isus, au trimis să dea de ştire în toate împrejurimile şi au adus la El pe toţi bolnavii. 36 Bolnavii Îl rugau să le dea voie numai să se atingă de poala hainei Lui. Şi toţi câţi(N) s-au atins s-au vindecat.

How John the Baptist Was Killed(A)
14 At that time Herod, the ·ruler of Galilee [L tetrarch; see Luke 3:1], heard the reports about Jesus. 2 So he said to his servants, “·Jesus [L This] is John the Baptist, who has risen from the dead. That is why ·he can work these miracles [L miraculous powers are at work in him].”
3 ·Sometime before this, [L For] Herod had arrested John, ·tied him up [chained/bound him], and put him into prison. Herod did this because of Herodias, who had been the wife of Philip, Herod’s brother. 4 [L For] John had been telling Herod, “It is not lawful for you to ·be married to Herodias [have her].” 5 Herod wanted to kill John, but he was afraid of the ·people [crowd], because they ·believed John was [regarded John as] a prophet.
6 On Herod’s birthday, the daughter of Herodias danced for Herod and his guests, and she [greatly] pleased him. 7 So he ·promised [announced] with ·an oath [a vow] to give her anything she ·wanted [asked]. 8 ·Herodias told her daughter what to ask for, so [At her mother’s urging/prompting] she said to Herod, “Give me the head of John the Baptist here on a platter.” 9 Although King Herod was very ·sad [sorry; grieved; distressed], he had made a ·promise [vow; oath], and his dinner guests had heard him. So Herod ·ordered [commanded] that what she asked for be done. 10 He sent soldiers to the prison to cut off John’s head. 11 And they brought it on a platter and gave it to the girl, and she took it to her mother. 12 John’s ·followers [disciples] came and got his ·body [corpse] and buried it. Then they went and ·told [reported it to] Jesus.
More than Five Thousand Fed(B)
13 When Jesus heard what had happened to John, he left in a boat and went to a ·lonely [isolated; deserted] place by himself. But the crowds heard about it and followed him on foot from the towns. 14 When he ·arrived [landed; came ashore], he saw a great crowd waiting. He ·felt sorry [had compassion] for them and healed those who were sick.
15 When it was evening, his ·followers [disciples] came to him and said, “·No one lives in this [This is a remote/deserted] place, and it is already late. Send the people away so they can go to the ·towns [villages] and buy food for themselves.”
16 But Jesus answered, “They don’t need to go away. You give them something to eat.”
17 They said to him, “But we have only five loaves of bread and two fish.”
18 Jesus said, “Bring ·the bread and the fish [L them here] to me.” 19 Then he ·told [commanded; ordered] the people to ·sit down [recline] on the grass. He took the five loaves and the two fish and, looking to heaven, he ·thanked God for [blessed] the food. Jesus ·divided [broke] the bread and gave it to his ·followers [disciples], who gave it to the people. 20 All the people ate and were satisfied. Then ·the followers [L they] filled twelve baskets with the leftover pieces of food. 21 There were about five thousand men there who ate, not counting women and children.
Jesus Walks on the Water(C)
22 Immediately Jesus ·told [compelled; made] his ·followers [disciples] to get into the boat and go ahead of him ·across the lake [to the other side]. He stayed there to ·send the people home [dismiss the crowds]. 23 After he had ·sent them away [dismissed them], he went by himself up into the ·hills [mountain] to pray. ·It was late, and [When evening/night came,] Jesus was there alone. 24 By this time, the boat was already ·far away [L many stadia; C a stadion was about six hundred feet] from land. It was being ·hit [buffeted; beaten] by waves, because the wind was blowing against it.
25 ·Between three and six o’clock in the morning [L And in the fourth watch of the night], Jesus came to them, walking on the water. 26 When his ·followers [disciples] saw him walking on the water, they were ·afraid [terrified]. They said, “It’s a ghost!” and cried out in fear.
27 But Jesus ·quickly [immediately] spoke to them, “Have courage! It is I. Do not be afraid.”
28 Peter said, “Lord, if it is really you, then ·command [tell] me to come to you on the water.”
29 Jesus said, “Come.”
And Peter left the boat and walked on the water ·to [L and came toward] Jesus. 30 But when Peter saw the wind,[a] he became ·afraid [terrified] and began to sink. He shouted, “Lord, save me!”
31 Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and ·caught [took hold of] Peter. Jesus said, “·Your faith is small [What little faith you have; T You of little faith]. Why did you doubt?”
32 After they got into the boat, the wind ·became calm [stopped; died down]. 33 Then those who were in the boat worshiped Jesus and said, “Truly you are the Son of God!”
Healings at Gennesaret(D)
34 When they had crossed the lake, they came to shore at Gennesaret. 35 When the ·people there [or men of that place] recognized Jesus, they ·told people [sent word] all around there that Jesus had come, and they brought all their sick to him. 36 They begged Jesus to let them touch just the ·edge [or tassels; see Num. 15:38–39] of his ·coat [cloak], and all who touched it were healed.
