安息日的問題
12 那時，耶穌在安息日經過一片麥田。祂的門徒餓了，便隨手搓麥穗吃。 2 法利賽人看見後，對耶穌說：「你看，你的門徒做了在安息日不准做的事！」
3 耶穌回答說：「你們沒有讀過大衛的事蹟嗎？當時他和部下餓了， 4 進入上帝的殿，吃了獻給上帝的供餅。這餅只有祭司才可以吃，大衛和部下是不准吃的。 5 此外律法書又記載，安息日，祭司在聖殿裡觸犯了守安息日的規條也不算有罪。你們沒有讀過嗎？ 6 我告訴你們，這裡有一人比聖殿更偉大， 7 如果你們明白『我喜愛憐憫之心，而非祭物』這句經文的意義，就不會冤枉無辜了。 8 因為人子是安息日的主。」
9 耶穌離開那裡，走進會堂， 10 裡面有個人，一隻手是萎縮的。法利賽人企圖找藉口控告耶穌，就問祂：「安息日可不可以醫病呢？」
11 耶穌回答說：「如果你們有一隻羊在安息日掉進坑裡，難道你們不把牠拉上來嗎？ 12 人比羊要貴重多了！所以在安息日行善合情合理。」
13 於是，耶穌轉過身來對那人說：「把手伸出來！」那人一伸手，手就復原了，跟另一隻手一樣健康。 14 法利賽人卻走了出去，策劃怎樣除掉耶穌。
上帝的僕人
15 耶穌知道了，就離開那個地方。很多人跟隨祂，耶穌醫好了其中所有患病的人， 16 吩咐他們不要洩露祂的身分。 17 這是要應驗以賽亞先知的話：
18 「看啊！我所揀選、
所眷愛、所喜悅的僕人，
我要將我的靈賜給祂，
祂要向萬邦宣揚正義。
19 祂不爭競，不喧嚷，
街上也聽不見祂的聲音。
20 壓傷的蘆葦，祂不折斷；
將殘的燈火，祂不吹滅；
祂終必使正義得勝。
21 普世都要仰望祂的聖名。」
22 有人帶一個被鬼附身、又瞎又啞的人來見耶穌，耶穌便醫好他，使他能說能看。 23 眾人都很驚奇，就說：「這人會不會是大衛的那個後裔？」 24 法利賽人聽見後卻說：「祂不過是靠鬼王別西卜趕鬼罷了。」
25 耶穌知道他們的心思，就說：「一個國內部自相紛爭，必然滅亡；一座城、一個家內部自相紛爭，必然崩潰。 26 若撒旦驅逐撒旦，就是自相紛爭，牠的國怎能維持呢？ 27 若我是靠別西卜趕鬼，你們的子弟又是靠誰趕鬼呢？為此，他們要審判你們。 28 若我是靠上帝的靈趕鬼，就是上帝的國已降臨在你們中間了。
29 「人如何進入壯漢家中搶奪他的財物呢？除非先把那壯漢捆綁起來，才有可能搶劫他的家。
30 「不與我為友就是與我為敵；不助我召集就是故意拆散。 31 所以我告訴你們，一切的罪和褻瀆的話都可以得到赦免，但褻瀆聖靈的罪必得不到赦免。 32 說話得罪人子的，還可以得到赦免；但那些說話冒犯聖靈的，今生永世都得不到赦免。
樹與果
33 「好樹結好果子，壞樹結壞果子，看果子就能知道樹的好壞。 34 你們這些毒蛇的後代！你們心裡邪惡，又怎能講出好話呢？因為心裡充滿的，口裡自然會說出來。 35 善人心存良善，就從他裡面發出良善；惡人心存邪惡，就從他裡面發出邪惡。 36 我告訴你們，在審判之日，人將為自己所說的每一句閒話負責， 37 因為將來要憑你口中的話來判斷你是否有罪。」
求神蹟
38 當時，有幾個律法教師和法利賽人對耶穌說：「老師，我們想要看你行個神蹟。」 39 耶穌回答說：「一個邪惡淫亂的世代想看神蹟，可是除了約拿先知的神蹟以外，再沒有神蹟給他們看。 40 約拿在大魚腹中三日三夜，人子也要在地裡三日三夜。 41 在審判的日子，尼尼微人和這世代的人都要起來[a]，尼尼微人要定這個世代的罪，因為他們聽到約拿的宣告，就悔改了。看啊！這裡有一人比約拿更偉大。 42 在審判的日子，南方的女王和這世代的人都要起來，她要定這個世代的罪，因為她曾不遠千里來聽所羅門王的智言慧語。看啊！這裡有一人比所羅門王更偉大。
乘虛而入
43 「有一個污鬼離開了牠以前所附的人，在乾旱無水之地四處遊蕩，尋找安歇之處，卻沒有找到。 44 於是牠說，『我要回到老地方。』牠回去後，看見裡面空著，打掃得又乾淨又整齊， 45 就去帶來了七個比自己更邪惡的鬼一起住在那裡。那人的下場比從前更慘了。這個邪惡的世代也會這樣。」
真正的親屬
46 耶穌還在和眾人說話的時候，祂的母親和兄弟站在外面，想要跟祂說話。 47 有人告訴祂：「你的母親和兄弟在外面有話要跟你說。」
48 耶穌說：「誰是我的母親？誰是我的兄弟？」 49 祂伸出手來指著門徒說：「你們看！這些人就是我的母親和我的兄弟。 50 凡遵行我天父旨意的人都是我的弟兄、姊妹和母親。」

Good News Translation
The Question about the Sabbath(A)
12 (B)Not long afterward Jesus was walking through some wheat fields on a Sabbath. His disciples were hungry, so they began to pick heads of wheat and eat the grain. 2 When the Pharisees saw this, they said to Jesus, “Look, it is against our Law for your disciples to do this on the Sabbath!”
3 (C)Jesus answered, “Have you never read what David did that time when he and his men were hungry? 4 (D)He went into the house of God, and he and his men ate the bread offered to God, even though it was against the Law for them to eat it—only the priests were allowed to eat that bread. 5 (E)Or have you not read in the Law of Moses that every Sabbath the priests in the Temple actually break the Sabbath law, yet they are not guilty? 6 I tell you that there is something here greater than the Temple. 7 (F)The scripture says, ‘It is kindness that I want, not animal sacrifices.’ If you really knew what this means, you would not condemn people who are not guilty; 8 for the Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath.”
The Man with a Paralyzed Hand(G)
9 Jesus left that place and went to a synagogue, 10 where there was a man who had a paralyzed hand. Some people were there who wanted to accuse Jesus of doing wrong, so they asked him, “Is it against our Law to heal on the Sabbath?”
11 (H)Jesus answered, “What if one of you has a sheep and it falls into a deep hole on the Sabbath? Will you not take hold of it and lift it out? 12 And a human being is worth much more than a sheep! So then, our Law does allow us to help someone on the Sabbath.” 13 Then he said to the man with the paralyzed hand, “Stretch out your hand.”
He stretched it out, and it became well again, just like the other one. 14 Then the Pharisees left and made plans to kill Jesus.
God's Chosen Servant
15 When Jesus heard about the plot against him, he went away from that place; and large crowds followed him. He healed all the sick 16 and gave them orders not to tell others about him. 17 He did this so as to make come true what God had said through the prophet Isaiah:
18 (I)“Here is my servant, whom I have chosen,
the one I love, and with whom I am pleased.
I will send my Spirit upon him,
and he will announce my judgment to the nations.
19 He will not argue or shout,
or make loud speeches in the streets.
20 He will not break off a bent reed,
nor put out a flickering lamp.
He will persist until he causes justice to triumph,
21 and on him all peoples will put their hope.”
Jesus and Beelzebul(J)
22 Then some people brought to Jesus a man who was blind and could not talk because he had a demon. Jesus healed the man, so that he was able to talk and see. 23 The crowds were all amazed at what Jesus had done. “Could he be the Son of David?” they asked.
24 (K)When the Pharisees heard this, they replied, “He drives out demons only because their ruler Beelzebul gives him power to do so.”
25 Jesus knew what they were thinking, and so he said to them, “Any country that divides itself into groups which fight each other will not last very long. And any town or family that divides itself into groups which fight each other will fall apart. 26 So if one group is fighting another in Satan's kingdom, this means that it is already divided into groups and will soon fall apart! 27 You say that I drive out demons because Beelzebul gives me the power to do so. Well, then, who gives your followers the power to drive them out? What your own followers do proves that you are wrong! 28 No, it is not Beelzebul, but God's Spirit, who gives me the power to drive out demons, which proves that the Kingdom of God has already come upon you.
29 (L)“No one can break into a strong man's house and take away his belongings unless he first ties up the strong man; then he can plunder his house.
30 (M)“Anyone who is not for me is really against me; anyone who does not help me gather is really scattering. 31 For this reason I tell you: people can be forgiven any sin and any evil thing they say;[a] but whoever says evil things against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven. 32 (N)Anyone who says something against the Son of Man can be forgiven; but whoever says something against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven—now or ever.
A Tree and Its Fruit(O)
33 (P)“To have good fruit you must have a healthy tree; if you have a poor tree, you will have bad fruit. A tree is known by the kind of fruit it bears. 34 (Q)You snakes—how can you say good things when you are evil? For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of. 35 A good person brings good things out of a treasure of good things; a bad person brings bad things out of a treasure of bad things.
36 “You can be sure that on the Judgment Day you will have to give account of every useless word you have ever spoken. 37 Your words will be used to judge you—to declare you either innocent or guilty.”
The Demand for a Miracle(R)
38 (S)Then some teachers of the Law and some Pharisees spoke up. “Teacher,” they said, “we want to see you perform a miracle.”
39 (T)“How evil and godless are the people of this day!” Jesus exclaimed. “You ask me for a miracle? No! The only miracle you will be given is the miracle of the prophet Jonah. 40 (U)In the same way that Jonah spent three days and nights in the big fish, so will the Son of Man spend three days and nights in the depths of the earth. 41 (V)On the Judgment Day the people of Nineveh will stand up and accuse you, because they turned from their sins when they heard Jonah preach; and I tell you that there is something here greater than Jonah! 42 (W)On the Judgment Day the Queen of Sheba will stand up and accuse you, because she traveled all the way from her country to listen to King Solomon's wise teaching; and I assure you that there is something here greater than Solomon!
The Return of the Evil Spirit(X)
43 “When an evil spirit goes out of a person, it travels over dry country looking for a place to rest. If it can't find one, 44 it says to itself, ‘I will go back to my house.’ So it goes back and finds the house empty, clean, and all fixed up. 45 Then it goes out and brings along seven other spirits even worse than itself, and they come and live there. So when it is all over, that person is in worse shape than at the beginning. This is what will happen to the evil people of this day.”
Jesus' Mother and Brothers(Y)
46 Jesus was still talking to the people when his mother and brothers arrived. They stood outside, asking to speak with him. 47 So one of the people there said to him, “Look, your mother and brothers are standing outside, and they want to speak with you.”[b]
48 Jesus answered, “Who is my mother? Who are my brothers?” 49 Then he pointed to his disciples and said, “Look! Here are my mother and my brothers! 50 Whoever does what my Father in heaven wants is my brother, my sister, and my mother.”

Zijn leerlingen hadden honger en begonnen graan te plukken en te eten. 2 Toen de Farizeeërs dat zagen, zeiden ze tegen Jezus: "Uw leerlingen doen iets wat niet mag op de heilige rustdag!"[b] 3 Jezus antwoordde: "Hebben jullie dan niet gelezen wat David heeft gedaan toen hij en zijn mannen honger hadden? 4 Ze gingen Gods heiligdom binnen en namen de heilige broden mee. Die aten ze op. Dat mocht helemaal niet, want daar mogen alleen de priesters van eten. 5 En hebben jullie ook niet gelezen dat de priesters op de heilige rustdag werken in de tempel? Toch zijn ze daarmee niet ongehoorzaam aan de wet van Mozes. 6 Ik zeg jullie dat Ik belangrijker ben dan de tempel. 7 God zegt in de Boeken: 'Ik wil vriendelijkheid en hulpvaardigheid, en geen offers.' Als jullie begrepen hadden wat God daarmee bedoelt, zouden jullie geen onschuldige mensen veroordelen. 8 Want de Mensenzoon is ook Heer over de heilige rustdag."
Jezus geneest een man op de heilige rustdag
9 Jezus liep verder en ging hun synagoge binnen. 10 Daar was een man met een verlamde hand. De Farizeeërs vroegen Hem of je van de wet van Mozes iemand op de heilige rustdag mag genezen. Ze hoopten Hem ervan te kunnen beschuldigen dat Hij Zich niet aan de wet van Mozes hield. 11 Maar Hij zei tegen hen: "Als je schaap op de heilige rustdag in een put valt, trek je het er toch onmiddellijk uit? 12 En een mens is toch veel belangrijker dan een schaap? Daarom mag je op de heilige rustdag goed doen." 13 Toen zei Hij tegen die man: "Strek je hand uit." De man strekte zijn hand uit en de hand werd net zo gezond als de andere. 14 De Farizeeërs vertrokken en probeerden samen een plan te bedenken hoe ze Hem zouden kunnen doden.
De woorden van de profeet Jesaja
15 Maar Jezus wist wat ze van plan waren en ging daar weg. Grote groepen mensen volgden Hem. Hij maakte hen allemaal gezond. 16 En Hij verbood hun streng om rond te vertellen wat Hij deed. 17 Zo gebeurde wat de profeet Jesaja vroeger al had gezegd: 18 'Dit is mijn dienaar die Ik uitgekozen heb. Ik houd heel veel van Hem en Ik geniet van Hem. Ik zal mijn Geest op Hem leggen en Hij zal de volken over het oordeel vertellen. 19 Hij zal geen ruzie maken en niet schreeuwen. Niemand zal op de pleinen zijn stem horen. 20 Een geknakte rietstengel breekt Hij niet af. Een walmende olielamp blaast Hij niet uit. Hij zal door het oordeel laten zien dat rechtvaardigheid overwint. 21 En Hij zal alle volken hoop geven, omdat Hij hen zal redden.'
Jezus en Beëlzebul
22 Toen brachten de mensen een man naar Jezus toe. De man was blind en kon ook niet praten. Dat kwam doordat er een duivelse geest in hem zat. Jezus maakte de man gezond, zodat hij kon praten en zien. 23 De mensen waren stomverbaasd en zeiden: "Zou Hij de Zoon van David zijn?"[c] 24 Maar toen de Farizeeërs dat hoorden, zeiden ze: "Hij kan alleen maar de duivelse geesten wegjagen doordat Hij die macht heeft gekregen van Beëlzebul, de leider van de duivelse geesten."
25 Jezus wist wat ze dachten. Hij zei tegen hen: "Als een koninkrijk uiteenvalt in verschillende partijen die tegen elkaar strijden, zal dat koninkrijk zichzelf vernietigen. 26 En als de duivel de duivelse geesten wegjaagt, dan strijdt de duivel tegen zichzelf. Hoe zal zijn koninkrijk dan kunnen blijven bestaan? 27 En als Ik met de hulp van Beëlzebul de duivelse geesten wegjaag, door wie doen jullie zonen het dan? Daarom zullen zij jullie rechters zijn en jullie veroordelen. 28 Maar als Ik door de Geest van God de duivelse geesten wegjaag, dan is het Koninkrijk van God bij jullie gekomen. 29 Hoe kun je het huis van een sterke man binnengaan en zomaar zijn spullen stelen, als je niet eerst die sterke man hebt vastgebonden? Pas dan zul je zijn huis kunnen leeghalen.
30 Als je niet vóór Mij bent, ben je tégen Mij. En als je niet met Mij bij elkaar brengt, dan jaag je uit elkaar. 31 Daarom zeg Ik jullie dat de mensen vergeving kunnen krijgen voor alles waarin ze ongehoorzaam zijn geweest aan God. Maar als iemand expres de Heilige Geest beledigt, zal God hem dat niet vergeven. 32 Als iemand de Mensenzoon beledigt, dan zal God hem dat vergeven. Maar als iemand expres de Heilige Geest beledigt, dan zal God hem dat niet vergeven. Niet nu, in deze wereld, en niet later, in de wereld die nog komen gaat. 33 Als je zegt dat de boom goed is, moet je ook zijn vruchten goed vinden. En als je de boom slecht vindt, moet je ook zijn vruchten slecht vinden. Want aan de vruchten kun je zien of een boom goed is of slecht.
34 Jullie zijn achterbaks en slecht! Hoe zouden jullie dan iets goeds kunnen zeggen? Want jullie zijn slecht. Iemands woorden verraden wat er in zijn hart is. 35 Een goed mens haalt goede dingen tevoorschijn uit de goede voorraad in zijn hart. Maar een slecht mens haalt slechte dingen tevoorschijn uit de slechte voorraad in zijn hart. 36 Maar Ik zeg jullie dat alle mensen verantwoordelijk zijn voor elk verkeerd woord dat ze hebben gezegd. Op de dag van het laatste oordeel zal God de mensen oordelen op hun woorden. 37 Jullie zullen worden vrijgesproken om de dingen die jullie hebben gezegd – of jullie zullen worden veroordeeld om de dingen die jullie hebben gezegd."
De mensen vragen Jezus om een teken
38 Toen antwoordden een paar wetgeleerden en Farizeeërs Jezus: "Meester, we zouden graag willen dat U een teken voor ons deed om ons te bewijzen wie U bent." 39 Maar Hij antwoordde: "Alleen ongelovige en ongehoorzame mensen willen een teken zien dat moet bewijzen wie Ik ben. Maar ze zullen geen ander teken te zien krijgen dan het teken van de profeet Jona. 40 Jona was drie dagen en drie nachten in de buik van de vis. Net zo zal de Mensenzoon drie dagen en drie nachten in het binnenste van de aarde zijn.
41 Op de dag dat God over alle mensen zal rechtspreken, zullen ook de bewoners van Ninevé opstaan uit de dood, tegelijk met jullie. En ze zullen jullie veroordelen. Want de bewoners van Ninevé zijn gestopt met de slechte dingen die ze deden. Ze zijn gaan leven zoals God het wil toen de profeet Jona hen waarschuwde.[d] Let op: Ik ben belangrijker dan Jona, maar júllie zijn niet beter gaan leven.
42 Op de dag dat God over alle mensen zal rechtspreken, zal ook de koningin van het Zuiden (= Scheba) opstaan uit de dood, tegelijk met jullie. En ze zal jullie veroordelen. Want zíj is van heel ver gekomen om de wijsheid van koning Salomo te horen.[e] Let op: Ik ben belangrijker dan Salomo, maar júllie hebben niet naar Mij willen luisteren.
43 Als een duivelse geest[f] uit een mens is weggejaagd, dwaalt die geest door droge, levenloze plaatsen rond om rust te vinden. Maar hij vindt geen rust. 44 Dan zegt hij: 'Ik ga terug naar het huis waaruit ik ben weggejaagd.' Als hij daar komt, ziet hij dat het leeg staat. Het is schoongeveegd en netjes opgeruimd. 45 Dan gaat hij zeven andere geesten zoeken die nog slechter zijn dan hijzelf. Samen gaan ze naar binnen en blijven er wonen. Dan wordt het met die persoon nog erger dan eerst. Zo zal het ook gaan met jullie. Want jullie zijn ongelovig en ongehoorzaam."
Jezus' familie
46 Terwijl Jezus tegen de grote groep mensen aan het spreken was, stonden zijn moeder en broers buiten. Ze probeerden bij Hem te komen, omdat ze Hem wilden spreken. 47 Iemand zei tegen Hem: "Uw moeder en broers staan buiten. Ze willen U graag spreken." 48 Maar Hij antwoordde hem: "Wie zijn mijn moeder en mijn broers?" 49 Hij wees met zijn arm naar zijn leerlingen om Hem heen en zei: "Kijk, zij zijn mijn moeder en mijn broers. 50 Want iedereen die doet wat mijn hemelse Vader wil, is mijn broer en zus en moeder."

Lord of the Sabbath
12 At that time Jesus passed through the grainfields on the Sabbath.(A) His disciples(B) were hungry and began to pick and eat some heads of grain. 2 When the Pharisees saw this, they said to him, “See, your disciples are doing what is not lawful(C) to do on the Sabbath.”
3 He said to them, “Haven’t you read what David did when he and those who were with him were hungry: 4 how he entered the house of God, and they ate[a] the bread of the Presence—which is not lawful for him or for those with him to eat, but only for the priests?(D) 5 Or haven’t you read in the law that on Sabbath days the priests in the temple violate the Sabbath and are innocent?(E) 6 I tell you that something greater than the temple is here.(F) 7 If you had known what this means, I desire mercy and not sacrifice,[b](G) you would not have condemned the innocent. 8 For the Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath.”(H)
The Man with the Shriveled Hand
9 Moving on from there, he entered their synagogue.(I) 10 There he saw a man who had a shriveled hand, and in order to accuse him they asked him, “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?” (J)
11 He replied to them, “Who among you, if he had a sheep that fell into a pit on the Sabbath, wouldn’t take hold of it and lift it out?(K) 12 A person is worth far more than a sheep; (L) so it is lawful to do what is good on the Sabbath.”
13 Then he told the man, “Stretch out your hand.” So he stretched it out, and it was restored,(M) as good as the other. 14 But the Pharisees went out and plotted against him, how they might kill him.(N)
The Servant of the Lord
15 Jesus was aware of this and withdrew. Large crowds[c] followed him, and he healed them all.(O) 16 He warned them not to make him known,(P) 17 so that what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah might be fulfilled:
18 Here is my servant whom I have chosen,
my beloved in whom I delight;
I will put my Spirit on him,
and he will proclaim justice to the nations.(Q)
19 He will not argue or shout,
and no one will hear his voice in the streets.
20 He will not break a bruised reed,
and he will not put out a smoldering wick,
until he has led justice to victory.[d]
21 The nations will put their hope in his name.[e](R)
A House Divided
22 Then a demon-possessed man(S) who was blind and unable to speak was brought to him. He healed him, so that the man[f] could both speak and see.(T) 23 All the crowds were astounded and said, “Could this be the Son of David?” (U)
24 When the Pharisees heard this, they said, “This man drives out demons only by Beelzebul, the ruler of the demons.”(V)
25 Knowing their thoughts,(W) he told them, “Every kingdom divided against itself is headed for destruction, and no city or house divided against itself will stand. 26 If Satan(X) drives out Satan, he is divided against himself. How then will his kingdom stand? 27 And if I drive out demons by Beelzebul, by whom do your sons drive them out? For this reason they will be your judges.(Y) 28 If I drive out demons by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God has come upon you.(Z) 29 How can someone enter a strong man’s house and steal his possessions unless he first ties up(AA) the strong man? Then he can plunder his house. 30 Anyone who is not with me is against me,(AB) and anyone who does not gather with me scatters. 31 Therefore,(AC) I tell you, people will be forgiven every sin and blasphemy,(AD) but the blasphemy against[g] the Spirit will not be forgiven.[h] 32 Whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man,(AE) it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the one to come.(AF)
A Tree and Its Fruit
33 “Either make the tree good and its fruit will be good, or make the tree bad[i] and its fruit will be bad; for a tree is known by its fruit.(AG) 34 Brood of vipers! How can you speak good things when you are evil? For the mouth speaks from the overflow(AH) of the heart. 35 A good person produces good things from his storeroom of good, and an evil person produces evil things from his storeroom of evil.(AI) 36 I tell you that on the day of judgment(AJ) people will have to account(AK) for every careless[j] word they speak.[k] 37 For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.”
The Sign of Jonah
38 Then some of the scribes and Pharisees said to him, “Teacher, we want to see a sign from you.”(AL)
39 He answered them,(AM) “An evil and adulterous generation demands a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah.(AN) 40 For as Jonah was in the belly of the huge fish[l](AO) three days and three nights,(AP) so the Son of Man will be in the heart of the earth three days and three nights. 41 The men of Nineveh will stand up at the judgment with this generation and condemn it,(AQ) because they repented at Jonah’s preaching; and look—something greater than Jonah is here.(AR) 42 The queen of the south(AS) will rise up at the judgment with this generation and condemn it, because she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and look—something greater than Solomon is here.
An Unclean Spirit’s Return
43 “When an unclean spirit comes out of a person, it roams through waterless places looking for rest but doesn’t find any.(AT) 44 Then it says, ‘I’ll go back to my house that I came from.’ Returning, it finds the house vacant, swept, and put in order. 45 Then it goes and brings with it seven other spirits more evil than itself, and they enter and settle down there. As a result, that person’s last condition is worse than the first.(AU) That’s how it will also be with this evil generation.”

46 While he(AV) was still speaking with the crowds, his mother and brothers were standing outside wanting to speak to him.(AW) 47 Someone told him, “Look, your mother and your brothers are standing outside, wanting to speak to you.”[m]
48 He replied to the one who was speaking to him, “Who is my mother and who are my brothers?” 49 Stretching out his hand toward his disciples,(AX) he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers! 50 For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.”(AY)
