9 耶穌又對他們說：「我確實地告訴你們：站在這裡的有些人，在還沒有嘗到死的滋味之前，必定見到神的國帶著權能來臨。」
登山變相
2 過了六天，耶穌只帶著彼得、雅各、約翰，領他們悄悄地上了一座高山。在他們面前，耶穌變了形像。 3 他的衣服變得光亮耀眼，極其潔白[a]，地上漂布的人無法漂得那樣白。 4 這時候，以利亞與摩西一起向他們顯現，並且和耶穌談話。
5 彼得對耶穌說：「拉比，我們在這裡真好！讓我們來搭三座帳幕，一座為你，一座為摩西，一座為以利亞。」 6 其實彼得不知道說什麼才好，因為他們都非常害怕。
7 這時候，有一朵雲彩出現籠罩他們，並且有聲音從雲中傳來：
「這是我的愛子，
你們當聽從他！」
8 於是門徒們環視周圍，忽然間，再也看不到別的人，只有耶穌與他們在一起。

信心的力量
14 他們回到其他的門徒那裡，看見一大群人圍著他們，而且有幾個經文士正在和他們辯論。 15 眾人一見耶穌，都大吃一驚，就跑過去歡迎他。 16 耶穌問[b]：「你們和他們在辯論什麼？」
17 人群中有一個人回答：「老師，我帶了我的兒子到你這裡。他有一個啞巴的邪靈附身。 18 無論在哪裡，只要邪靈抓住他，把他摔倒在地，他就口吐白沫，緊咬牙關，全身僵硬。我告訴你的門徒們，要他們驅趕那邪靈，可是他們不能。」
19 耶穌回答他們，說：「唉，這個不信的世代！我還要和你們在一起多久呢？我還要容忍你們多久呢？把孩子帶到我這裡來吧！」 20 他們就把他帶到耶穌面前來。邪靈一見耶穌，立刻使孩子劇烈地抽瘋，倒在地上打滾，口吐白沫。 21 耶穌問孩子的父親：「這事發生在他身上有多久了？」
他回答說：「從小就這樣。 22 邪靈經常把他扔進火裡或水裡，要害死他。但你如果能做什麼，就求你憐憫我們，幫助我們！」
23 耶穌對他說：「『如果你能』？[c]——對信的人，一切都能。」
24 那孩子的父親立刻[d]喊著說：「[e]我信！但我的不信之處，求你幫助！」
25 耶穌看見眾人都跑上來，就斥責那汙靈，說：「你這聾啞的邪靈，我命令你：從他裡面出來，不可再進去！」
26 邪靈喊叫一聲，使孩子劇烈地抽瘋，就出來了。孩子變得像死人那樣，所以許多人說：「他死了。」 27 但是，耶穌握著他的手，扶他起來，他就站起來了。
28 耶穌進了房子，他的門徒們就悄悄地問他：「我們為什麼不能趕出那邪靈呢？」
29 耶穌對他們說：「對這一類的邪靈，如果不藉著禱告和禁食[f]，就不能趕出去。」
再次預言受難
30 他們離開那裡，經過加利利，耶穌不願意讓人知道。 31 那時，他教導自己的門徒們，對他們說：「人子被交在[g]人的手中，他們要殺害他。然後被殺之後，在第三天[h]他要復活。」 32 可是門徒們不明白這話，又不敢問他。
誰是最大的
33 他們來到了迦百農，進了屋子，耶穌問門徒們：「你們在路上討論什麼呢？」 34 門徒們卻不做聲，因為他們在路上彼此爭論誰更大。 35 耶穌坐下，叫十二使徒[i]來，對他們說：「如果有人想做首先的，他就該做眾人當中最後的，做大家的僕人。」 36 耶穌找來一個小孩子，讓他站在他們當中，又把他摟在懷中，對門徒們說： 37 「無論誰奉我的名接受這樣一個小孩子，就是接受我；接受我的，不是接受我，而是接受差派我來的那一位。」
奉耶穌的名
38 約翰說：「老師，我們看見一個人[j]奉你的名驅趕鬼魔，我們就去阻止他，因為他不是跟從我們的。」
39 耶穌說：「不要阻止他。因為沒有人奉我的名行了神蹟以後，會立即誹謗我。 40 不反對我們的，就是支持我們的。 41 如果有人因為你們屬於基督，就奉我的[k]名給你們一杯水喝，我確實地告訴你們：他絕不會失去他的報償。
耶穌的警告
42 「無論誰使信我的這些卑微人中的一個[l]絆倒，對那人來說，脖子上拴著大磨石[m]，被丟進海裡反而更好。 43 如果你的一隻手使你絆倒，就把它砍掉！對你來說，缺一隻手進入永生[n]，要比雙手齊全下地獄，到那永不熄滅的火裡好多了。 44 在那裡
45 如果你的一隻腳使你絆倒，就把它砍掉！對你來說，缺一隻腳進入永生[q]，要比雙腳齊全被丟進地獄，到那永不熄滅的火裡[r]好多了。 46 在那裡
47 如果你的一隻眼使你絆倒，就把它挖出來！對你來說，缺一隻眼進入神的國，要比雙眼齊全被丟進[u]地獄好多了。 48 在那裡
『蟲是不死的，
火是不滅的。』[v]
49 要知道，每個人都將被火醃成鹹的[w]。 50 鹽是好的，但如果那鹽也不鹹了，還能用什麼來調味呢？你們裡面要有鹽，要彼此和睦。」

9 Falando ainda com os discípulos, Jesus continuou: “É realmente como vos digo: alguns dos que estão aqui agora não morrerão sem ver o reino de Deus chegar com grande poder!”
Jesus transfigura-se
(Mt 17.1-13; Lc 9.28-36)
2 Passados seis dias, Jesus levou Pedro, Tiago e João ao cimo de um alto monte. Não havia ali mais ninguém. 3 O aspeto de Jesus mudou e a sua roupa ficou de uma brancura deslumbrante que nenhum processo humano conseguiria alcançar. 4 Então apareceram Elias e Moisés e puseram-se a falar com Jesus.
5 “Mestre, que bom é estarmos aqui!”, exclamou Pedro. “Façamos três tendas: um para ti, outro para Moisés e outro para Elias!” 6 Falava assim por nada mais lhe vir à ideia. Estavam cheios de espanto. 7 Então uma nuvem cobriu-os e dela saiu uma voz que disse: “Este é o meu Filho amado. Ouçam-no!”
8 Nesse momento olharam em torno, não viram mais ninguém com eles, senão apenas Jesus.
9 Enquanto desciam do monte, Jesus recomendou-lhes que não relatassem a ninguém o que tinham visto, até que o Filho do Homem ressuscitasse dos mortos. 10 Por isso, guardaram o sucedido para si mesmos. Contudo, muitas vezes falavam a respeito disso, perguntando entre si o que quereria ele dizer com “levantar-se de entre os mortos.”
11 E perguntaram-lhe: “Porque é que os especialistas na Lei insistem que Elias deve vir antes?”
12 Jesus respondeu: “Elias, de facto, vem primeiro para pôr tudo em ordem. Então porque está escrito que o Filho do Homem deve sofrer e ser rejeitado? 13 Digo-vos: Elias já veio e fizeram dele tudo o que quiseram, como as Escrituras previam.”
A cura do rapaz com um espírito mau
(Mt 17.14-19; Lc 9.37-42)
14 Quando chegaram lá abaixo, encontraram uma grande multidão que rodeava os outros discípulos, enquanto alguns especialistas na Lei discutiam com eles. 15 A multidão olhou com admiração para Jesus, ao vê-lo aproximar-se, e correu a cumprimentá-lo. 16 “Que se passa?”, perguntou.
17 Alguém respondeu do meio da multidão: “Mestre, trouxe o meu filho para que o curasses, pois está dominado por um espírito que não fala. 18 Sempre que o demónio se apodera dele, atira-o ao chão e fá-lo espumar pela boca e ranger os dentes; e assim vai definhando. Pedi aos teus discípulos que expulsassem o demónio, mas não conseguiram.”
19 Jesus disse aos discípulos: “Ó povo sem fé! Até quando terei de andar convosco? Até quando terei de suportar-vos? Tragam-me cá o rapaz!” 20 Trouxeram-lhe o menino, mas ao ver Jesus, o demónio sacudiu em convulsões a criança, que caiu no chão, contorcendo-se e espumando.
21 “Há quanto tempo está ele assim?”, perguntou ao pai.
“Desde pequenino. 22 O demónio fá-lo cair muitas vezes no fogo e na água, para o matar. Tem compaixão de nós e, se puderes, faz alguma coisa!”
23 “Se eu puder?”, perguntou Jesus. “Tudo é possível a quem tem fé!”
24 Ao que o pai respondeu logo: “Eu tenho fé! Ajuda-me a ter mais fé!”
25 Quando Jesus viu que a multidão aumentava, ordenou ao espírito impuro: “Espírito de surdez e mudez, ordeno-te que saias desse menino e não entres mais nele!”
26 Então o espírito soltou um grito terrível, tornou a sacudi-lo e deixou-o em seguida. O menino ficou caído, sem forças, sem se mexer, como se estivesse morto. A multidão começou a dizer à boca pequena: “Morreu!” 27 Mas Jesus tomou-o pela mão, ajudou-o a pôr-se de pé e ele ergueu-se.
28 Mais tarde, estando Jesus sozinho em casa com os discípulos, estes perguntaram-lhe: “Porque não conseguimos expulsar aquele demónio?”
29 “Para casos como este é preciso orar”, respondeu.
Jesus fala outra vez da sua morte e ressurreição
(Mt 17.22-23; Lc 9.43-45)
30 Deixando aquela região, percorreram a Galileia, onde Jesus procurava evitar toda e qualquer atividade pública, 31 para poder dedicar mais tempo a ensinar os discípulos. E dizia-lhes: “O Filho do Homem vai ser entregue nas mãos dos homens, hão de matá-lo mas, três dias depois de ser morto, ressuscitará.” 32 Eles, porém, não compreendiam e tinham medo de lhe fazer perguntas.
Quem é o maior?
(Mt 18.1-5; Lc 9.46-48)
33 Chegaram a Cafarnaum. Quando se encontravam instalados na casa onde iam ficar, perguntou-lhes: “Que vinham a discutir pelo caminho?” 34 Mas tinham vergonha de responder, porque a discussão era sobre qual deles seria o mais importante. 35 Então sentou-se e, chamando-os para junto de si disse: “Quem quiser ser o primeiro será o último e o servo de todos.”
36 Tomando uma criancinha, colocou-a no meio deles, acolheu-a nos braços e disse-lhes: 37 “Quem receber uma criancinha como esta, em meu nome, é a mim que recebe. E quem me receber não é a mim que recebe, mas aquele que me enviou.”
Quem não é contra nós é por nós

38 João, um dos seus discípulos, disse-lhe: “Mestre, vimos alguém que se servia do teu nome para expulsar demónios, mas dissemos-lhe que não o fizesse, por não pertencer ao nosso grupo.”
39 “Não o proíbam! Porque ninguém que faça milagres em meu nome vai logo falar mal de mim. 40 Quem não é contra nós está do nosso lado. 41 Se alguém vos der nem que seja um copo de água, por serem de Cristo, é realmente como vos digo, não deixará de ter a sua recompensa.
Não levar os outros a pecar

42 Quem fizer tropeçar na fé um destes pequeninos que creem em mim, mais valia a esse homem amarrarem-lhe uma mó ao pescoço e ser atirado ao mar. 43-44 Se a tua mão te fizer pecar, corta-a! Mais vale entrar na vida com uma só mão do que ir parar com ambas ao fogo do inferno, que nunca se apaga! 45-46 Se o teu pé te fizer pecar, corta-o! Mais vale entrar na vida coxo do que ser lançado com ambos os pés no inferno. 47 E se o teu olho te fizer pecar, arranca-o! Melhor é entrar no reino de Deus só com um olho do que ser lançado com ambos no inferno, 48 onde os bichos nunca morrem e o fogo nunca se apaga.[a] 49 Porque todos serão como que temperados pelo fogo.
50 O sal é bom para temperar, mas se perder o sabor como pode tornar-se de novo salgado? Vocês devem ter as qualidades do sal e viver em paz uns com os outros.”

9 Then he said to them, “Truly I tell you,(A) there are some standing here who will not taste death(B) until they see the kingdom of God come in power.”(C)
The Transfiguration
2 After(D) six days(E) Jesus took Peter, James, and John(F) and led them up a high mountain(G) by themselves to be alone. He was transfigured(H) in front of them, 3 and his clothes(I) became dazzling—extremely white(J) as no launderer on earth could whiten(K) them. 4 Elijah(L) appeared to them with Moses,(M) and they were talking with Jesus. 5 Peter said to Jesus, “Rabbi,(N) it’s good(O) for us to be here. Let’s set up three shelters:(P) one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah”— 6 because he did not know what to say,(Q) since they were terrified.(R)
7 A cloud(S) appeared, overshadowing(T) them, and a voice(U) came from the cloud:(V) “This is my beloved(W) Son;(X) listen to him!” (Y)
8 Suddenly, looking around, they no longer saw anyone with them except Jesus.
9 As(Z) they were coming down the mountain,(AA) he ordered them to tell no one what they had seen(AB) until the Son of Man(AC) had risen(AD) from the dead.(AE) 10 They kept this word(AF) to themselves, questioning what “rising from the dead” meant.
11 Then they asked him, “Why do the scribes(AG) say that Elijah must come first?” (AH)
12 “Elijah does come first and restores(AI) all things,”(AJ) he replied. “Why then is it written(AK) that the Son of Man must suffer(AL) many things and be treated with contempt?(AM) 13 But I tell you that Elijah has come, and they did whatever they pleased to him, just as it is written(AN) about him.”
The Power of Faith over a Demon
14 When(AO) they came to the disciples, they saw a large crowd around them and scribes disputing(AP) with them. 15 When the whole crowd saw him, they were amazed and ran to greet him. 16 He asked them, “What are you arguing with them about?”
17 Someone from the crowd answered him, “Teacher,(AQ) I brought my son to you. He has a spirit(AR) that makes him unable to speak.(AS) 18 Whenever it seizes him, it throws him down, and he foams at the mouth, grinds his teeth, and becomes rigid. I asked your disciples to drive it out, but they couldn’t.”
19 He replied to them, “You unbelieving(AT) generation, how long will I be with you? How long must I put up with you? Bring him to me.” 20 So they brought the boy to him. When the spirit saw him, it immediately threw the boy into convulsions. He fell to the ground and rolled around, foaming at the mouth. 21 “How long has this been happening to him?” Jesus asked his father.
“From childhood,” he said. 22 “And many times it has thrown him into fire or water to destroy(AU) him. But if you can do anything, have compassion(AV) on us and help us.”
23 Jesus said to him, “‘If you can’?[a] Everything is possible(AW) for the one who believes.”(AX)
24 Immediately the father of the boy cried out, “I do believe; help my unbelief!”
25 When Jesus saw that a crowd was quickly gathering, he rebuked(AY) the unclean(AZ) spirit, saying to it, “You mute and deaf(BA) spirit, I command you: Come out of him and never enter him again.”
26 Then it came out, shrieking and throwing him into terrible convulsions.(BB) The boy became like a corpse, so that many said, “He’s dead.” 27 But Jesus, taking him by the hand, raised him,(BC) and he stood up.
28 After he had gone into the house, his disciples asked him privately, “Why couldn’t we drive it out?”
29 And he told them, “This kind can come out by nothing but prayer.”[b](BD)
The Second Prediction of His Death
30 Then(BE) they left that place and made their way through Galilee, but he did not want anyone to know it.(BF) 31 For he was teaching(BG) his disciples and telling them, “The Son of Man(BH) is going to be betrayed[c] into the hands of men. They will kill him, and after he is killed, he will rise(BI) three days later.”(BJ) 32 But they did not understand this statement, and they were afraid to ask him.(BK)
Who Is the Greatest?
33 They(BL) came to Capernaum.(BM) When he was in the house,(BN) he asked them, “What were you arguing about on the way?”(BO) 34 But they were silent,(BP) because on the way they had been arguing with one another about who was the greatest.(BQ) 35 Sitting down, he called the Twelve(BR) and said to them, “If anyone wants to be first, he must be last and servant of all.”(BS) 36 He took a child,(BT) had him stand among them, and taking him in his arms, he said to them, 37 “Whoever welcomes[d] one little child such as this in my name(BU) welcomes me. And whoever welcomes me does not welcome me, but him who sent(BV) me.”(BW)
In His Name
38 John(BX) said to him, “Teacher,(BY) we saw someone[e] driving out demons(BZ) in your name,(CA) and we tried to stop him because he wasn’t following us.”(CB)
39 “Don’t stop him,” said Jesus, “because there is no one who will perform a miracle(CC) in my name who can soon afterward speak evil of me. 40 For whoever is not against us is for us.(CD) 41 And whoever gives you a cup of water to drink(CE) in my name, because you belong to Christ(CF) —truly I tell you,(CG) he will never lose his reward.(CH)
Warnings from Jesus
42 “But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to fall away(CI) —it would be better for him if a heavy millstone(CJ) were hung around his neck and he were thrown into the sea.
43 “And if your hand causes you to fall away, cut it off.(CK) It is better for you to enter life maimed(CL) than to have two hands and go to hell, the unquenchable fire.[f](CM) 45 And if your foot causes you to fall away, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life lame(CN) than to have two feet and be thrown into hell.[g] 47 And if your eye causes you to fall away, gouge it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God(CO) with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown(CP) into hell,(CQ) 48 where their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched.[h] 49 For everyone will be salted with fire.[i][j](CR) 50 Salt is good, but if the salt should lose its flavor, how can you season it?(CS) Have salt(CT) among yourselves, and be at peace(CU) with one another.”

11 And they asked him, “Why do the teachers of the law say that Elijah must come first?”
12 Jesus replied, “To be sure, Elijah does come first, and restores all things. Why then is it written that the Son of Man(L) must suffer much(M) and be rejected?(N) 13 But I tell you, Elijah has come,(O) and they have done to him everything they wished, just as it is written about him.”
Jesus Heals a Boy Possessed by an Impure Spirit(P)
14 When they came to the other disciples, they saw a large crowd around them and the teachers of the law arguing with them. 15 As soon as all the people saw Jesus, they were overwhelmed with wonder and ran to greet him.
16 “What are you arguing with them about?” he asked.
17 A man in the crowd answered, “Teacher, I brought you my son, who is possessed by a spirit that has robbed him of speech. 18 Whenever it seizes him, it throws him to the ground. He foams at the mouth, gnashes his teeth and becomes rigid. I asked your disciples to drive out the spirit, but they could not.”
19 “You unbelieving generation,” Jesus replied, “how long shall I stay with you? How long shall I put up with you? Bring the boy to me.”
20 So they brought him. When the spirit saw Jesus, it immediately threw the boy into a convulsion. He fell to the ground and rolled around, foaming at the mouth.(Q)
21 Jesus asked the boy’s father, “How long has he been like this?”
“From childhood,” he answered. 22 “It has often thrown him into fire or water to kill him. But if you can do anything, take pity on us and help us.”
23 “‘If you can’?” said Jesus. “Everything is possible for one who believes.”(R)
24 Immediately the boy’s father exclaimed, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!”
25 When Jesus saw that a crowd was running to the scene,(S) he rebuked the impure spirit. “You deaf and mute spirit,” he said, “I command you, come out of him and never enter him again.”
26 The spirit shrieked, convulsed him violently and came out. The boy looked so much like a corpse that many said, “He’s dead.” 27 But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him to his feet, and he stood up.
28 After Jesus had gone indoors, his disciples asked him privately,(T) “Why couldn’t we drive it out?”
29 He replied, “This kind can come out only by prayer.[a]”
Jesus Predicts His Death a Second Time(U)
30 They left that place and passed through Galilee. Jesus did not want anyone to know where they were, 31 because he was teaching his disciples. He said to them, “The Son of Man(V) is going to be delivered into the hands of men. They will kill him,(W) and after three days(X) he will rise.”(Y) 32 But they did not understand what he meant(Z) and were afraid to ask him about it.
33 They came to Capernaum.(AA) When he was in the house,(AB) he asked them, “What were you arguing about on the road?” 34 But they kept quiet because on the way they had argued about who was the greatest.(AC)
35 Sitting down, Jesus called the Twelve and said, “Anyone who wants to be first must be the very last, and the servant of all.”(AD)
36 He took a little child whom he placed among them. Taking the child in his arms,(AE) he said to them, 37 “Whoever welcomes one of these little children in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me does not welcome me but the one who sent me.”(AF)
Whoever Is Not Against Us Is for Us(AG)
38 “Teacher,” said John, “we saw someone driving out demons in your name and we told him to stop, because he was not one of us.”(AH)
39 “Do not stop him,” Jesus said. “For no one who does a miracle in my name can in the next moment say anything bad about me, 40 for whoever is not against us is for us.(AI) 41 Truly I tell you, anyone who gives you a cup of water in my name because you belong to the Messiah will certainly not lose their reward.(AJ)
Causing to Stumble
42 “If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in me—to stumble,(AK) it would be better for them if a large millstone were hung around their neck and they were thrown into the sea.(AL) 43 If your hand causes you to stumble,(AM) cut it off. It is better for you to enter life maimed than with two hands to go into hell,(AN) where the fire never goes out.(AO) [44] [b] 45 And if your foot causes you to stumble,(AP) cut it off. It is better for you to enter life crippled than to have two feet and be thrown into hell.(AQ) [46] [c] 47 And if your eye causes you to stumble,(AR) pluck it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into hell,(AS) 48 where
49 Everyone will be salted(AU) with fire.
50 “Salt is good, but if it loses its saltiness, how can you make it salty again?(AV) Have salt among yourselves,(AW) and be at peace with each other.”(AX)
