³⁴門徒們卻不做聲，因為他們在路上彼此爭論誰更大。 ³⁵耶穌坐下，叫十二使徒^[a]來，對他們說：「如果有人想做首先的，他就該做眾人當中最後的，做大家的僕人。」 ³⁶耶穌找來一個小孩子，讓他站在他們當中，又把他摟在懷中，對門徒們說：

³⁴他們都沉默不語，因為剛才他們在爭論誰最偉大。 ³⁵耶穌坐下，叫十二個門徒過來，對他們說：「誰想為首，就該在眾人中做最小的，作眾人的僕人。」 ³⁶祂領了一個小孩子來，叫他站在門徒中間，又抱起他，對他們說：

³⁴But they kept quiet because on the way they had argued about who was the greatest.^(A)

³⁵Sitting down, Jesus called the Twelve and said, “Anyone who wants to be first must be the very last, and the servant of all.”^(B)

³⁶He took a little child whom he placed among them. Taking the child in his arms,^(C) he said to them,
