治好癱子
2 幾天後，耶穌回到迦百農。祂在家的消息一傳開， 2 立刻有許多人蜂擁而來，連門外也擠滿了人。耶穌正給他們講道的時候， 3 有四個人抬著一個癱瘓的人來見祂。 4 但因為人太多，他們無法抬到耶穌跟前，就拆掉屋頂，對準耶穌所坐的地方，將癱子連墊子一起縋下去。 5 耶穌看見他們的信心，就對癱子說：「孩子，你的罪被赦免了！」 6 有幾個律法教師坐在那裡，心裡議論說： 7 「這是什麼話？簡直是褻瀆上帝！除了上帝之外，誰能赦罪呢？」
8 耶穌立刻看透了他們的心思，就說：「你們為什麼這樣心裡議論呢？ 9 對癱子說『你的罪得到赦免了』容易呢，還是說『起來，收拾你的墊子走吧』容易呢？ 10 但我要讓你們知道人子在世上有赦罪的權柄。」於是祂對癱子說： 11 「我吩咐你起來收拾你的墊子回家去吧。」 12 那人就站起來，馬上收拾好墊子，當著眾人的面走了出去。眾人都十分驚奇，讚美上帝說：「我們從來沒見過這樣的事！」
呼召利未
13 耶穌又出去到了湖邊。有一大群人圍攏過來，祂就教導他們。 14 耶穌往前走的時候，看見亞勒腓的兒子利未坐在收稅站裡工作，就對他說：「跟從我！」利未就起來跟從了耶穌。
15 後來，利未請耶穌和祂的門徒到家裡坐席，同席的還有很多已經跟隨耶穌的稅吏和罪人。 16 有幾位法利賽人的律法教師看見耶穌跟稅吏和罪人同席，就問耶穌的門徒：「祂怎麼會跟這些稅吏和罪人一起吃飯呢？」
17 耶穌聽見了，就說：「健康的人不需要醫生，有病的人才需要。我來不是要召義人，乃是要召罪人。」
論禁食
18 約翰的門徒和法利賽人都在禁食的時候，有人來問耶穌：「約翰的門徒和法利賽人的門徒禁食，為什麼你的門徒不禁食呢？」
19 耶穌對他們說：「新郎還在的時候，賓客怎能在婚宴中禁食呢？新郎還跟他們在一起的時候，他們不該禁食。 20 但有一天新郎將被帶走，那時他們就要禁食了。
21 「沒有人會用新布來補舊衣服，因為新布會把舊衣服扯破，破洞會更大； 22 也沒有人把新酒倒進舊皮囊裡，否則新酒會漲破舊皮囊，酒和皮囊都毀了。所以，新酒一定要裝在新皮囊裡。」
安息日的主
23 一個安息日，耶穌和門徒走過一片麥田，門徒一邊走一邊搓麥穗吃。 24 法利賽人批評耶穌說：「看看你的門徒，他們為什麼做安息日不准做的事？」
25 耶穌回答說：「大衛和他的部下在饑餓、缺糧時所做的事，你們沒有讀過嗎？ 26 在亞比亞他做大祭司時，他進入上帝的殿吃了獻給上帝的供餅，還給他的部下吃。這餅只有祭司才可以吃。 27 安息日是為人設立的，人不是為安息日設立的。 28 所以，人子也是安息日的主。」

8 耶稣立刻看透了他们的心思，就说：“你们为什么这样心里议论呢？ 9 对瘫子说‘你的罪得到赦免了’容易呢，还是说‘起来，收拾你的垫子走吧’容易呢？ 10 但我要让你们知道人子在世上有赦罪的权柄。”于是祂对瘫子说： 11 “我吩咐你起来收拾你的垫子回家去吧。” 12 那人就站起来，马上收拾好垫子，当着众人的面走了出去。众人都十分惊奇，赞美上帝说：“我们从来没见过这样的事！”

21 “没有人会用新布来补旧衣服，因为新布会把旧衣服扯破，破洞会更大； 22 也没有人把新酒倒进旧皮囊里，否则新酒会胀破旧皮囊，酒和皮囊都毁了。所以，新酒一定要装在新皮囊里。”
安息日的主
23 一个安息日，耶稣和门徒走过一片麦田，门徒一边走一边搓麦穗吃。 24 法利赛人批评耶稣说：“看看你的门徒，他们为什么做安息日不准做的事？”

Healing and forgiveness
2 After a few days, Jesus went back to Capernaum, and people heard that he was at home. 2 So many gathered that there was no longer space, not even near the door. Jesus was speaking the word to them. 3 Some people arrived, and four of them were bringing to him a man who was paralyzed. 4 They couldn’t carry him through the crowd, so they tore off part of the roof above where Jesus was. When they had made an opening, they lowered the mat on which the paralyzed man was lying. 5 When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, “Child, your sins are forgiven!”
6 Some legal experts were sitting there, muttering among themselves, 7 “Why does he speak this way? He’s insulting God. Only the one God can forgive sins.”
8 Jesus immediately recognized what they were discussing, and he said to them, “Why do you fill your minds with these questions? 9 Which is easier—to say to a paralyzed person, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Get up, take up your bed, and walk’? 10 But so you will know that the Human One[a] has authority on the earth to forgive sins”—he said to the man who was paralyzed, 11 “Get up, take your mat, and go home.”
12 Jesus raised him up, and right away he picked up his mat and walked out in front of everybody. They were all amazed and praised God, saying, “We’ve never seen anything like this!”
Eating with sinners
13 Jesus went out beside the lake again. The whole crowd came to him, and he began to teach them. 14 As he continued along, he saw Levi, Alphaeus’ son, sitting at a kiosk for collecting taxes. Jesus said to him, “Follow me.” Levi got up and followed him.
15 Jesus sat down to eat at Levi’s house. Many tax collectors and sinners were eating with Jesus and his disciples. Indeed, many of them had become his followers. 16 When some of the legal experts from among the Pharisees saw that he was eating with sinners and tax collectors, they asked his disciples, “Why is he eating with sinners and tax collectors?”
17 When Jesus heard it, he said to them, “Healthy people don’t need a doctor, but sick people do. I didn’t come to call righteous people, but sinners.”
When to fast
18 John’s disciples and the Pharisees had a habit of fasting. Some people asked Jesus, “Why do John’s disciples and the Pharisees’ disciples fast, but yours don’t?”
19 Jesus said, “The wedding guests can’t fast while the groom is with them, can they? As long as they have the groom with them, they can’t fast. 20 But the days will come when the groom will be taken away from them, and then they will fast.
21 “No one sews a piece of new, unshrunk cloth on old clothes; otherwise, the patch tears away from it, the new from the old, and makes a worse tear. 22 No one pours new wine into old leather wineskins; otherwise, the wine would burst the wineskins and the wine would be lost and the wineskins destroyed. But new wine is for new wineskins.”
Scripture and the Sabbath
23 Jesus went through the wheat fields on the Sabbath. As the disciples made their way, they were picking the heads of wheat. 24 The Pharisees said to Jesus, “Look! Why are they breaking the Sabbath law?”
25 He said to them, “Haven’t you ever read what David did when he was in need, when he and those with him were hungry? 26 During the time when Abiathar was high priest, David went into God’s house and ate the bread of the presence, which only the priests were allowed to eat. He also gave bread to those who were with him.” 27 Then he said, “The Sabbath was created for humans; humans weren’t created for the Sabbath. 28 This is why the Human One[b] is Lord even over the Sabbath.”

Jesus Forgives Sins
2 When Jesus again entered Capernaum some days later, people heard that he was home. 2 So many people were gathered together that there was no more room, not even by the door, and he was speaking the word to them. 3 Some people came to him bringing a paralyzed man, carried by four men. 4 Since they could not bring the man to Jesus because of the crowd, they dug through the roof above where he was. When they had made an opening, they lowered the stretcher on which the paralyzed man was lying. 5 When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralyzed man, “Son, your sins are forgiven.”
6 But there were some experts in the law sitting there and thinking in their hearts, 7 “Why does this fellow speak like this? He is blaspheming! Who can forgive sins except God alone?”
8 Jesus immediately knew in his spirit that they were thinking this way within themselves. He asked them, “Why are you thinking these things in your hearts? 9 Which is easier: to tell the paralyzed man, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Get up, take your stretcher, and walk’? 10 But, so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins”—he said to the paralyzed man, 11 “I tell you, get up, take your stretcher, and go home.”
12 At once the man got up, picked up the stretcher, and went out in front of everyone. So they were all amazed and glorified God. They said, “We have never seen anything like this!”
The Calling of Levi (Matthew)
13 Jesus went out again along the sea. The whole crowd went to him, and he taught them. 14 As he was passing by, he saw Levi the son of Alphaeus sitting at the tax booth. “Follow me,” Jesus told him. And Levi got up and followed him.
15 Then when Jesus was reclining at a table in Levi’s house, many tax collectors and sinners were reclining with Jesus and his disciples because many of them also were following him. 16 When the experts in the law and the Pharisees saw that he was eating with the sinners and tax collectors, they said to his disciples, “Why is he eating and drinking with tax collectors and sinners?”
17 When Jesus heard this, he said to them, “Those who are healthy do not need a physician, but the sick do. I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”
A Question About Fasting
18 John’s disciples and the Pharisees were fasting. They came and asked Jesus, “Why is it that John’s disciples and the Pharisees’ disciples fast, but your disciples do not fast?”
19 Jesus said to them, “The friends of the bridegroom cannot fast while the bridegroom is with them, can they? As long as they have the bridegroom with them, they cannot fast. 20 But the days will come when the bridegroom will be taken away from them, and then on that day they will fast. 21 No one sews a piece of unshrunk cloth on an old garment. Otherwise, the patch shrinks, the new tears away from the old, and a worse tear is made. 22 No one pours new wine into old wineskins. Otherwise, the new wine will burst the skins, the wine will pour out,[a] and the skins will be ruined. Instead, new wine is poured into new wineskins.”
Lord of the Sabbath
23 Once on a Sabbath day, Jesus was passing through the grain fields, and his disciples began to pick heads of grain as they walked along. 24 The Pharisees said to him, “Look, why are they doing what is not lawful on the Sabbath day?”
25 He replied to them, “Have you never read what David did when he was in need and hungry (he and his companions)? 26 He entered the house of God in the time of Abiathar the high priest and ate the Bread of the Presence, which is not lawful for anyone to eat, except for the priests. He also gave some to his companions.”
27 Then Jesus said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. 28 So the Son of Man is the Lord even of the Sabbath.”
