问安
1 神和主耶稣基督的奴仆雅各，
问候散居在各地的十二个支派。
经试炼而完备
2 我的弟兄们，你们遇到各种试炼的时候，应当看做是极大的喜乐， 3 因为你们知道，你们的信仰经过考验就生出忍耐； 4 但要让忍耐发挥完全的功效，好使你们成熟、完备，在任何事上都没有缺欠。
5 如果你们中间有人缺乏智慧，他就应当向那慷慨赐予万人又不责骂人的神祈求；神就会赐予他。 6 不过他要凭着信仰祈求，不要有任何疑惑，因为疑惑的人就像海中的波浪，被风吹动翻腾。 7 这样的人不要想从主那里得到什么， 8 他是心怀二意的人，在他所有的道路上都摇摆不定。
9 卑微[a]的弟兄应当以自己被高举而夸耀； 10 富有的应当以自己被降卑而夸耀，因为他将要像草上的花那样消逝。 11 太阳带着热气升起，草地枯萎，草上的花也凋谢，它表面的美丽也就消逝了；照样，富有的人在他的追求中，也将衰残。
12 忍受试炼的人是蒙福的；因为他经过考验以后，就要得到生命的冠冕，就是主[b]应许给那些爱他之人的。
13 人受诱惑的时候，不可说：“我被神诱惑”，因为神是不能被邪恶诱惑的，神也不诱惑任何人。 14 而每个人受诱惑，都是被自己的欲望所牵扯、所引诱的； 15 一旦欲望怀了胎，就生下罪来；罪长成了，就生出死亡。
16 我亲爱的弟兄们，你们不要被迷惑了！ 17 一切美好的赏赐和各样完美的恩赐，都是从上面、从众光之父降下来的；在他没有改变，也没有转动的影子。 18 他照着自己的旨意，藉着真理的话语生了我们，要使我们在他所造的万物中成为一种初熟的果子。
行道胜于听道
19 我亲爱的弟兄们，你们应当知道：[c]每个人都该快快地听，不急于发言、不急于动怒， 20 因为人的愤怒不能成就神的义。 21 因此，你们要脱去一切的污秽和满盈的恶毒，要以温柔的心接受那栽种在你们里面的话语，就是能拯救你们灵魂[d]的话语。
22 你们要成为这话语的实行者，不要只成为听者而欺骗自己。 23 因为，如果有人是这话语的听者，而不是实行者，这个人就像人对着镜子观看自己生来的面貌， 24 看了就走开，立刻忘了自己是什么样子； 25 但是详细察看那使人得自由的完美律法，并且继续持守的人，因他不是健忘的听者，而是行为的实行者，这个人就将要在他所行的事上蒙祝福。
26 如果[e]有人自以为是虔诚的，却不克制自己的舌头，反而欺骗自己的心，这个人的虔诚[f]就是虚妄的。 27 在父神看来，纯洁而没有玷污的虔诚[g]是这样的：照顾患难中的孤儿寡妇，并且保守自己不受世界的玷污。

1 James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad, greeting.
2 My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;
3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.
4 But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.
5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.
7 For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.
8 A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.
9 Let the brother of low degree rejoice in that he is exalted:
10 But the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away.
11 For the sun is no sooner risen with a burning heat, but it withereth the grass, and the flower thereof falleth, and the grace of the fashion of it perisheth: so also shall the rich man fade away in his ways.
12 Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.
13 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:
14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.
16 Do not err, my beloved brethren.
17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
18 Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.
19 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:
20 For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.
21 Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.
22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
23 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:
24 For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.
25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.
26 If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain.
27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

Greeting
1 James,(A) a slave of God(B) and of the Lord Jesus Christ:

Greetings.(E)
Trials and Maturity
2 Consider it a great joy, my brothers, whenever you experience various trials,(F) 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. 4 But endurance must do its complete work, so that you may be mature and complete, lacking nothing.
5 Now if any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives to all generously and without criticizing, and it will be given to him.(G) 6 But let him ask in faith without doubting. For the doubter is like the surging sea, driven and tossed by the wind. 7 That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. 8 An indecisive[b] man is unstable in all his ways.(H)
9 The brother of humble circumstances should boast in his exaltation, 10 but the one who is rich should boast in his humiliation because he will pass away like a flower of the field.(I) 11 For the sun rises with its scorching heat and dries up the grass; its flower falls off, and its beautiful appearance is destroyed. In the same way, the rich man will wither away while pursuing his activities.(J)
12 A man who endures trials[c] is blessed, because when he passes the test he will receive the crown(K) of life that God[d] has promised to those who love Him.(L)
13 No one undergoing a trial should say, “I am being tempted by God.” For God is not tempted by evil,[e] and He Himself doesn’t tempt anyone. 14 But each person is tempted when he is drawn away and enticed by his own evil desires.(M) 15 Then after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin, and when sin is fully grown, it gives birth to death.(N)
16 Don’t be deceived, my dearly loved brothers.(O) 17 Every generous act and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights; with Him there is no variation or shadow cast by turning.(P) 18 By His own choice, He gave us a new birth by the message of truth[f] so that we would be the firstfruits of His creatures.(Q)
Hearing and Doing the Word
19 My dearly loved brothers, understand this: Everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger,(R) 20 for man’s anger does not accomplish God’s righteousness. 21 Therefore, ridding yourselves of all moral filth and evil,[g] humbly receive the implanted word, which is able to save you.[h](S)
22 But(T) be doers of the word and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. 23 Because if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man looking at his own face[i] in a mirror. 24 For he looks at himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. 25 But the one who looks intently into the perfect law of freedom and perseveres in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but one who does good works—this person will be blessed in what he does.(U)
26 If anyone[j] thinks he is religious without controlling his tongue,(V) then his religion is useless and he deceives himself. 27 Pure and undefiled religion before our[k] God and Father is this: to look after orphans and widows(W) in their distress and to keep oneself unstained by the world.(X)

1 神和主耶穌基督的僕人雅各，向散居各地的十二支派問安。 2 我的弟兄們，你們遭遇各種試煉的時候，都要看為喜樂； 3 因為知道你們的信心經過考驗，就產生忍耐。 4 但忍耐要堅持到底（“堅持到底”原文作“有完全的功效”），使你們可以完全，毫無缺乏。 5 你們中間若有人缺少智慧，就當向那厚賜眾人，而且不斥責人的 神祈求，他就必得著。 6 可是，他應該憑著信心祈求，不要有疑惑；因為疑惑的人，就像被風吹蕩翻騰的海浪。 7 那樣的人，不要想從主得到甚麼； 8 因為三心兩意的人，在他的一切道路上，都搖擺不定。
富貴榮華轉眼消逝
9 卑微的弟兄應當以高升為榮； 10 富足的也不應該以降卑為辱；因為他如同草上的花，必要過去。 11 太陽一出，熱風一吹，草必枯乾，花必凋謝，它的美容就消失了；富足的人也必在他的奔波經營中這樣衰落。
忍受試煉的人有福了
12 能忍受試煉的人，是有福的；因為他經過考驗之後，必得著生命的冠冕，這冠冕是主應許給愛他的人的。 13 人被試探，不可說“我被 神試探”；因為 神不能被惡試探，他也不試探任何人。 14 每一個人受試探，都是被自己的私慾所勾引誘惑的。 15 私慾懷了胎，就生出罪；罪長成了，就產生死亡。
16 我親愛的弟兄們，不要看錯了。 17 各樣美好的賞賜，各樣完備的恩賜，都是從上面、從眾光之父降下來的，他本身並沒有改變，也沒有轉動的影子。 18 他憑著自己的旨意，藉著真理的道生了我們，使我們作他所造的萬物中初熟的果子。
要作行道的人
19 我親愛的弟兄們，你們要知道，人人都應該快快地聽，慢慢地說，慢一點動怒； 20 因為人的忿怒並不能成全 神的義。 21 所以你們應當擺脫一切污穢和所有的邪惡，以溫柔的心領受 神栽種的道；這道能救你們的靈魂。
22 你們應該作行道的人，不要單作聽道的人，自己欺騙自己； 23 因為人若只作聽道的人，不作行道的人，他就像一個人對著鏡子看自己本來的面貌， 24 看過走開以後，馬上就忘記自己的樣子。 25 唯有詳細察看那使人自由的全備的律法，並且時常遵守的人，他不是聽了就忘記，而是實行出來，就必因自己所作的蒙福。
26 如果有人自以為虔誠，卻不約束他的舌頭，反而自己欺騙自己，這人的虔誠是沒有用的。 27 在父 神看來，純潔無玷污的虔誠，就是照顧患難中的孤兒寡婦，並且保守自己不被世俗所污染。
