8 过了不久，耶稣周游各城各乡传道，宣讲 神国的福音。和他同去的有十二个使徒， 2 还有曾被邪灵所附，被疾病所缠，而已经治好的几个妇女，其中有称为抹大拉的马利亚，曾有七个鬼从她身上赶出来， 3 又有希律的管家苦撒的妻子约亚拿，和苏撒拿以及好些别的妇女，她们都是用自己的财物供给耶稣和使徒。
撒种的比喻(A)
4 当一大群人聚集，又有人从各城里出来见耶稣的时候，耶稣用比喻说： 5 “有一个撒种的出去撒种。他撒的时候，有的落在路旁，被人践踏，天上的飞鸟又来把它吃掉了。 6 有的落在磐石上，一出来就枯干了，因为得不着滋润。 7 有的落在荆棘里，荆棘跟它一同生长，把它挤住了。 8 又有的落在好土里，生长起来，结实百倍。”耶稣说完这些话，大声说：“有耳可听的，就应当听！”

16 “没有人点灯用器皿盖上，或放在床底下，而是放在灯台上，让进来的人看见亮光。 17 因为掩藏的事没有不显出来的，隐瞒的事也没有不露出来被人知道的。 18 所以，你们应当小心怎样听。因为凡有的，还要给他；凡没有的，连他自以为有的也要夺去。”

19 耶稣的母亲和他兄弟来看他，因为人多，不能到他跟前。 20 有人告诉他说：“你母亲和你兄弟站在外边，要见你。” 21 耶稣回答他们：“听了 神的道而遵行的人，就是我的母亲，我的兄弟了。”

22 有一天，耶稣和门徒上了船，他对门徒说：“我们渡到湖的对岸去吧。”他们就开了船。 23 船行的时候，耶稣睡着了。湖上忽然起了狂风，船将灌满了水，很危险。 24 门徒去叫醒他，说：“老师！老师！我们快没命啦！”耶稣醒了，斥责那狂风大浪，风浪就止住，平静了。 25 耶稣对他们说：“你们的信心在哪里呢？”他们又惧怕又惊讶，彼此说：“这到底是谁？他吩咐风和水，连风和水都听从他。”
治好格拉森被鬼附的人(G)
26 他们到了格拉森[a]人的地区，就在加利利的对面。 27 耶稣上了岸，就有城里一个被鬼附的人迎着他走来。这个人好久不穿衣服，不住在屋子里，而住在坟墓里。 28 他看见耶稣，就喊叫着俯伏在他面前，大声说：“至高 神的儿子耶稣，你为什么干扰我？我求你，不要叫我受苦！” 29 这是因耶稣曾吩咐污灵从这人身上出来。原来这污灵屡次抓住他；他常被人看守，又被铁链和脚镣捆锁，他竟把锁链挣断，被鬼赶到旷野去。 30 耶稣问他：“你的名字叫什么？”他说：“群”；这是因为附着他的鬼多。 31 鬼就央求耶稣不要命令他们到无底坑里去。
32 那里有一大群猪正在山坡上吃食，鬼央求耶稣准他们进入猪里；耶稣准了他们。 33 于是鬼从那人出来，进入猪里，那群猪就闯下山崖，投进湖里，淹死了。 34 放猪的看见这事就逃跑了，去告诉城里和乡下的人。 35 众人出来，要看发生了什么事；到了耶稣那里，发现那人坐在耶稣脚前，鬼已离开了他，穿着衣服，神智清醒，他们就害怕。 36 看见这事的人把被鬼附的人怎么得医治的事告诉他们。 37 格拉森周围地区的人，因为害怕得很，都求耶稣离开他们；耶稣就上船回去了。 38 鬼已从身上出去的那人恳求要和耶稣在一起，耶稣却打发他回去，说： 39 “你回家去，传讲 神为你做了多么大的事。”他就走遍全城，传扬耶稣为他做了多么大的事。
叶鲁的女儿和经血不止的女人(H)
40 耶稣回来的时候，众人迎接他，因为他们都等候着他。 41 有一个会堂主管，名叫叶鲁，来俯伏在耶稣脚前，求耶稣到他家里去， 42 因为他有一个独生女，约十二岁，快要死了。
耶稣去的时候，众人簇拥着他。 43 有一个女人，患了经血不止的病有十二年，在医生手里花尽了一生所有的[b]，但没有人能治好她。 44 她来到耶稣背后，摸他的衣裳䍁子，经血立刻止住了。 45 耶稣说：“摸我的是谁？”众人都不承认。彼得说：“老师，众人拥拥挤挤紧靠着你。” 46 耶稣说：“有人摸了我，因为我觉得有能力从我身上出去。” 47 那女人知道瞒不住了，就战战兢兢地俯伏在耶稣跟前，把摸他的缘故和怎样立刻痊愈的事，当着众人都说出来。 48 耶稣对她说：“女儿，你的信救了你。平安地回去吧！”
49 耶稣还在说话的时候，有人从会堂主管的家里来，说：“你的女儿死了，不要劳驾老师了。” 50 耶稣听见就对他说：“不要怕，只要信！她必得痊愈。” 51 耶稣到了他的家，除了彼得、约翰、雅各，和女儿的父母，不许别人同他进去。 52 众人都在为这女孩哀哭捶胸。耶稣说：“不要哭，她不是死了，是睡着了。” 53 他们知道她已经死了，就嘲笑耶稣。 54 耶稣拉着她的手，呼叫着：“孩子，起来吧！” 55 她的灵魂就回来了，她立刻起来。耶稣吩咐给她东西吃。 56 她的父母非常惊奇；耶稣吩咐他们不要把所发生的事告诉任何人。

The Parable of the Sower(A)
8 After this, Jesus traveled about from one town and village to another, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom of God.(B) The Twelve were with him, 2 and also some women who had been cured of evil spirits and diseases: Mary (called Magdalene)(C) from whom seven demons had come out; 3 Joanna the wife of Chuza, the manager of Herod’s(D) household; Susanna; and many others. These women were helping to support them out of their own means.
4 While a large crowd was gathering and people were coming to Jesus from town after town, he told this parable: 5 “A farmer went out to sow his seed. As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path; it was trampled on, and the birds ate it up. 6 Some fell on rocky ground, and when it came up, the plants withered because they had no moisture. 7 Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up with it and choked the plants. 8 Still other seed fell on good soil. It came up and yielded a crop, a hundred times more than was sown.”
When he said this, he called out, “Whoever has ears to hear, let them hear.”(E)
9 His disciples asked him what this parable meant. 10 He said, “The knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of God has been given to you,(F) but to others I speak in parables, so that,
11 “This is the meaning of the parable: The seed is the word of God.(H) 12 Those along the path are the ones who hear, and then the devil comes and takes away the word from their hearts, so that they may not believe and be saved. 13 Those on the rocky ground are the ones who receive the word with joy when they hear it, but they have no root. They believe for a while, but in the time of testing they fall away.(I) 14 The seed that fell among thorns stands for those who hear, but as they go on their way they are choked by life’s worries, riches(J) and pleasures, and they do not mature. 15 But the seed on good soil stands for those with a noble and good heart, who hear the word, retain it, and by persevering produce a crop.
A Lamp on a Stand
16 “No one lights a lamp and hides it in a clay jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, they put it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light.(K) 17 For there is nothing hidden that will not be disclosed, and nothing concealed that will not be known or brought out into the open.(L) 18 Therefore consider carefully how you listen. Whoever has will be given more; whoever does not have, even what they think they have will be taken from them.”(M)
Jesus’ Mother and Brothers(N)
19 Now Jesus’ mother and brothers came to see him, but they were not able to get near him because of the crowd. 20 Someone told him, “Your mother and brothers(O) are standing outside, wanting to see you.”
21 He replied, “My mother and brothers are those who hear God’s word and put it into practice.”(P)
Jesus Calms the Storm(Q)(R)
22 One day Jesus said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side of the lake.” So they got into a boat and set out. 23 As they sailed, he fell asleep. A squall came down on the lake, so that the boat was being swamped, and they were in great danger.
24 The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Master, Master,(S) we’re going to drown!”
He got up and rebuked(T) the wind and the raging waters; the storm subsided, and all was calm.(U) 25 “Where is your faith?” he asked his disciples.
In fear and amazement they asked one another, “Who is this? He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey him.”
Jesus Restores a Demon-Possessed Man(V)(W)
26 They sailed to the region of the Gerasenes,[b] which is across the lake from Galilee. 27 When Jesus stepped ashore, he was met by a demon-possessed man from the town. For a long time this man had not worn clothes or lived in a house, but had lived in the tombs. 28 When he saw Jesus, he cried out and fell at his feet, shouting at the top of his voice, “What do you want with me,(X) Jesus, Son of the Most High God?(Y) I beg you, don’t torture me!” 29 For Jesus had commanded the impure spirit to come out of the man. Many times it had seized him, and though he was chained hand and foot and kept under guard, he had broken his chains and had been driven by the demon into solitary places.
30 Jesus asked him, “What is your name?”
“Legion,” he replied, because many demons had gone into him. 31 And they begged Jesus repeatedly not to order them to go into the Abyss.(Z)
32 A large herd of pigs was feeding there on the hillside. The demons begged Jesus to let them go into the pigs, and he gave them permission. 33 When the demons came out of the man, they went into the pigs, and the herd rushed down the steep bank into the lake(AA) and was drowned.
34 When those tending the pigs saw what had happened, they ran off and reported this in the town and countryside, 35 and the people went out to see what had happened. When they came to Jesus, they found the man from whom the demons had gone out, sitting at Jesus’ feet,(AB) dressed and in his right mind; and they were afraid. 36 Those who had seen it told the people how the demon-possessed(AC) man had been cured. 37 Then all the people of the region of the Gerasenes asked Jesus to leave them,(AD) because they were overcome with fear. So he got into the boat and left.
38 The man from whom the demons had gone out begged to go with him, but Jesus sent him away, saying, 39 “Return home and tell how much God has done for you.” So the man went away and told all over town how much Jesus had done for him.
Jesus Raises a Dead Girl and Heals a Sick Woman(AE)
40 Now when Jesus returned, a crowd welcomed him, for they were all expecting him. 41 Then a man named Jairus, a synagogue leader,(AF) came and fell at Jesus’ feet, pleading with him to come to his house 42 because his only daughter, a girl of about twelve, was dying.
As Jesus was on his way, the crowds almost crushed him. 43 And a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding(AG) for twelve years,[c] but no one could heal her. 44 She came up behind him and touched the edge of his cloak,(AH) and immediately her bleeding stopped.
45 “Who touched me?” Jesus asked.
When they all denied it, Peter said, “Master,(AI) the people are crowding and pressing against you.”
46 But Jesus said, “Someone touched me;(AJ) I know that power has gone out from me.”(AK)
47 Then the woman, seeing that she could not go unnoticed, came trembling and fell at his feet. In the presence of all the people, she told why she had touched him and how she had been instantly healed. 48 Then he said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you.(AL) Go in peace.”(AM)
49 While Jesus was still speaking, someone came from the house of Jairus, the synagogue leader.(AN) “Your daughter is dead,” he said. “Don’t bother the teacher anymore.”
50 Hearing this, Jesus said to Jairus, “Don’t be afraid; just believe, and she will be healed.”
51 When he arrived at the house of Jairus, he did not let anyone go in with him except Peter, John and James,(AO) and the child’s father and mother. 52 Meanwhile, all the people were wailing and mourning(AP) for her. “Stop wailing,” Jesus said. “She is not dead but asleep.”(AQ)
53 They laughed at him, knowing that she was dead. 54 But he took her by the hand and said, “My child, get up!”(AR) 55 Her spirit returned, and at once she stood up. Then Jesus told them to give her something to eat. 56 Her parents were astonished, but he ordered them not to tell anyone what had happened.(AS)

Some Women Accompany Jesus
8 Soon afterwards he went on through cities and villages, proclaiming and bringing the good news of the kingdom of God. The twelve were with him, 2 as well as some women who had been cured of evil spirits and infirmities: Mary, called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out, 3 and Joanna, the wife of Herod’s steward Chuza, and Susanna, and many others, who provided for them[a] out of their resources.
The Parable of the Sower
4 When a great crowd gathered and people from town after town came to him, he said in a parable: 5 ‘A sower went out to sow his seed; and as he sowed, some fell on the path and was trampled on, and the birds of the air ate it up. 6 Some fell on the rock; and as it grew up, it withered for lack of moisture. 7 Some fell among thorns, and the thorns grew with it and choked it. 8 Some fell into good soil, and when it grew, it produced a hundredfold.’ As he said this, he called out, ‘Let anyone with ears to hear listen!’
The Purpose of the Parables
9 Then his disciples asked him what this parable meant. 10 He said, ‘To you it has been given to know the secrets[b] of the kingdom of God; but to others I speak[c] in parables, so that
“looking they may not perceive,
and listening they may not understand.”
The Parable of the Sower Explained
11 ‘Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God. 12 The ones on the path are those who have heard; then the devil comes and takes away the word from their hearts, so that they may not believe and be saved. 13 The ones on the rock are those who, when they hear the word, receive it with joy. But these have no root; they believe only for a while and in a time of testing fall away. 14 As for what fell among the thorns, these are the ones who hear; but as they go on their way, they are choked by the cares and riches and pleasures of life, and their fruit does not mature. 15 But as for that in the good soil, these are the ones who, when they hear the word, hold it fast in an honest and good heart, and bear fruit with patient endurance.
A Lamp under a Jar
16 ‘No one after lighting a lamp hides it under a jar, or puts it under a bed, but puts it on a lampstand, so that those who enter may see the light. 17 For nothing is hidden that will not be disclosed, nor is anything secret that will not become known and come to light. 18 Then pay attention to how you listen; for to those who have, more will be given; and from those who do not have, even what they seem to have will be taken away.’
The True Kindred of Jesus
19 Then his mother and his brothers came to him, but they could not reach him because of the crowd. 20 And he was told, ‘Your mother and your brothers are standing outside, wanting to see you.’ 21 But he said to them, ‘My mother and my brothers are those who hear the word of God and do it.’
Jesus Calms a Storm
22 One day he got into a boat with his disciples, and he said to them, ‘Let us go across to the other side of the lake.’ So they put out, 23 and while they were sailing he fell asleep. A gale swept down on the lake, and the boat was filling with water, and they were in danger. 24 They went to him and woke him up, shouting, ‘Master, Master, we are perishing!’ And he woke up and rebuked the wind and the raging waves; they ceased, and there was a calm. 25 He said to them, ‘Where is your faith?’ They were afraid and amazed, and said to one another, ‘Who then is this, that he commands even the winds and the water, and they obey him?’
Jesus Heals the Gerasene Demoniac
26 Then they arrived at the country of the Gerasenes,[d] which is opposite Galilee. 27 As he stepped out on land, a man of the city who had demons met him. For a long time he had worn[e] no clothes, and he did not live in a house but in the tombs. 28 When he saw Jesus, he fell down before him and shouted at the top of his voice, ‘What have you to do with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I beg you, do not torment me’— 29 for Jesus[f] had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. (For many times it had seized him; he was kept under guard and bound with chains and shackles, but he would break the bonds and be driven by the demon into the wilds.) 30 Jesus then asked him, ‘What is your name?’ He said, ‘Legion’; for many demons had entered him. 31 They begged him not to order them to go back into the abyss.
32 Now there on the hillside a large herd of swine was feeding; and the demons[g] begged Jesus[h] to let them enter these. So he gave them permission. 33 Then the demons came out of the man and entered the swine, and the herd rushed down the steep bank into the lake and was drowned.
34 When the swineherds saw what had happened, they ran off and told it in the city and in the country. 35 Then people came out to see what had happened, and when they came to Jesus, they found the man from whom the demons had gone sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed and in his right mind. And they were afraid. 36 Those who had seen it told them how the one who had been possessed by demons had been healed. 37 Then all the people of the surrounding country of the Gerasenes[i] asked Jesus[j] to leave them; for they were seized with great fear. So he got into the boat and returned. 38 The man from whom the demons had gone begged that he might be with him; but Jesus[k] sent him away, saying, 39 ‘Return to your home, and declare how much God has done for you.’ So he went away, proclaiming throughout the city how much Jesus had done for him.
A Girl Restored to Life and a Woman Healed
40 Now when Jesus returned, the crowd welcomed him, for they were all waiting for him. 41 Just then there came a man named Jairus, a leader of the synagogue. He fell at Jesus’ feet and begged him to come to his house, 42 for he had an only daughter, about twelve years old, who was dying.
As he went, the crowds pressed in on him. 43 Now there was a woman who had been suffering from haemorrhages for twelve years; and though she had spent all she had on physicians,[l] no one could cure her. 44 She came up behind him and touched the fringe of his clothes, and immediately her haemorrhage stopped. 45 Then Jesus asked, ‘Who touched me?’ When all denied it, Peter[m] said, ‘Master, the crowds surround you and press in on you.’ 46 But Jesus said, ‘Someone touched me; for I noticed that power had gone out from me.’ 47 When the woman saw that she could not remain hidden, she came trembling; and falling down before him, she declared in the presence of all the people why she had touched him, and how she had been immediately healed. 48 He said to her, ‘Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace.’
49 While he was still speaking, someone came from the leader’s house to say, ‘Your daughter is dead; do not trouble the teacher any longer.’ 50 When Jesus heard this, he replied, ‘Do not fear. Only believe, and she will be saved.’ 51 When he came to the house, he did not allow anyone to enter with him, except Peter, John, and James, and the child’s father and mother. 52 They were all weeping and wailing for her; but he said, ‘Do not weep; for she is not dead but sleeping.’ 53 And they laughed at him, knowing that she was dead. 54 But he took her by the hand and called out, ‘Child, get up!’ 55 Her spirit returned, and she got up at once. Then he directed them to give her something to eat. 56 Her parents were astounded; but he ordered them to tell no one what had happened.
