供应耶稣的妇女们
8 不久以后，耶稣走遍各个城镇乡村，讲道、传神国的福音。与他在一起的有十二使徒[a]。 2 还有一些从邪灵和疾病中被解脱出来[b]、得了痊愈的妇女，其中有那称为茉大拉的玛丽亚，从她身上曾经有七个鬼魔被赶出来， 3 又有希律的管家苦撒的妻子约亚娜，以及苏珊娜和许多别的妇女，她们都用自己所拥有的来服事耶稣和门徒们[c]。
撒种的比喻
4 那时，有一大群人聚集，又有人从各城镇来到耶稣那里，耶稣就用比喻说： 5 “有一个撒种的出去撒种。他撒的时候，有的种子落在路边，被人践踏，天空的飞鸟也把它吃掉了。 6 有的落在岩石上，一长出来就枯萎了，因为得不到水份。 7 有的落进荆棘丛里，荆棘与它一起生长，把它挤住了。 8 但另有落进好土壤里的，长起来，结出百倍的果实。”耶稣讲完这些话，就大声说：“凡是有耳可听的，就应当听！”
用比喻的原因
9 耶稣的门徒们问他这比喻到底是什么意思。 10 他说：“神国的奥秘已经赐下来让你们知道，但是对其他的人就用比喻。这是为要使
‘他们看，却看不见；
听，却不领悟。’[d]
解明撒种的比喻
11 “原来，这个比喻是这样的。那种子就是神的话语[e]。 12 那‘路边之地’，是这样的人：他们听了这话语，然后魔鬼就来，从他们心里把话语夺走，免得他们信而得救。 13 那‘岩石’，是这样的人：他们一旦听了，就怀着喜乐的心接受了这话语；可是这些人没有根，他们暂时相信，而在试炼的时候，就离开信仰[f]了。 14 种子落在其中的那‘荆棘丛’，是这样的人：他们听了，却走自己的路[g]，被今生的忧虑、财富和享乐挤住了，结不出成熟的果实。 15 那‘好土壤’，是这样的人：他们听了这话语，以诚实美善的心持守它，并且在忍耐中结出果实。
油灯的比喻
16 “没有人点上油灯，用器皿盖住或放在床底下，而是放在灯台上，好让进来的人能看见光。 17 隐秘的事没有不显露的，隐藏的事绝没有不被知道、不显露出来的。 18 所以，你们要留心怎样去听；因为凡是有的，还要赐给他；凡是没有的，连他自以为有的也将从他那里被拿走。”
真正的亲属
19 耶稣的母亲和弟弟们[h]来到他那里，可是由于人多，不能靠近他。 20 有人告诉他：“你母亲和弟弟们站在外面，想要见你。”
21 耶稣回答他们，说：“我的母亲、我的弟兄，是那些听神的话语[i]而遵行的人。”
平静风浪
22 就在那些日子里，有一天耶稣和他的门徒们上了船，耶稣对他们说：“我们渡到湖对岸去吧。”他们就出发了。 23 船行的时候，耶稣睡着了。这时候，暴风降临到湖上，他们不断地被水浸灌，情况危险。 24 门徒们上前来叫醒耶稣，说：“老师，老师，我们没命了！”耶稣就起来，斥责风和浪，风浪就止息，湖面就变得平静。 25 耶稣对他们说：“你们的信仰在哪里？”
他们又惧怕，又惊奇，彼此说：“这个人究竟是谁？他竟然命令风和水，连风和水也听从他！”
在格拉森驱赶鬼魔
26 他们行船到了格拉森[j]人的地方，就是加利利的对岸。 27 耶稣刚上岸，那城里一个有鬼魔附身的人就迎面而来。这个人已经很长时间不穿衣服，不住在家里，而住在墓地里。 28 他一看见耶稣，就喊叫起来，俯伏在耶稣面前，大声说：“至高神的儿子耶稣，我与你有什么关系？求求你不要折磨我！” 29 这是因为耶稣吩咐污灵从那个人身上出来。原来污灵曾多次抓住那个人，虽然他被铁链和脚镣捆锁，被看守着，可是他挣断锁链，被鬼魔驱逐到旷野去。
30 耶稣问他：“你叫什么名字？”
他回答说：“军团。”因为有许多鬼魔进到他里面。 31 那些鬼魔央求耶稣不要命令它们进无底坑去。
32 当时，那里有一大群猪正在山上吃食。那些鬼魔就央求耶稣准许它们进入那些猪里，耶稣准许了它们。 33 鬼魔就从那个人身上出来，进入猪里面。于是那群猪从山崖冲到湖里淹死了。 34 那些放猪的人看见所发生的事，就逃跑了，去[k]把这事传到城里城外。 35 人们就出来，要看所发生的事，他们来到耶稣那里，看见鬼魔所离开的那人，穿着衣服，神志清醒地坐在耶稣脚前，他们就惧怕起来。 36 那些看见的人，就告诉大家被鬼魔附身的人怎样得到救治。 37 格拉森[l]一带的全体民众请求耶稣离开他们，因为他们十分惧怕。耶稣就上船回去了。
38 鬼魔所离开的那人央求耶稣，要和他在一起，但耶稣[m]让他走，说： 39 “你回家去吧，述说神为你做了什么。”于是他就离开了，在全城里传扬耶稣为他做了什么样的事[n]。
少女复活、妇人痊愈
40 耶稣回来的时候，一群人来欢迎他，原来大家一直在等候他。 41 这时候，来了一个名叫睚鲁的人，他是一个会堂主管。他俯伏在耶稣脚前，恳求耶稣到他家里去， 42 因为他有一个约十二岁的独生女儿，快要死了。
耶稣去的时候，人群拥挤着他。 43 有一个妇人，患了十二年的血漏病，在医生那里花尽了她所有的养生费用，[o]却没有一个人能使她痊愈。 44 她从耶稣后面过来，摸了一下耶稣的衣服穗子，立刻，她的血漏就止住了。
45 耶稣说：“谁摸了我？”
大家都否认。彼得[p]就说：“老师，人群正围着拥挤你呢！[q]”
46 但是耶稣说：“有人摸了我，因为我知道有能力从我身上出去了。” 47 那妇人知道瞒不过了，就战战兢兢地上前俯伏在耶稣面前，在全体民众面前说出她是因什么理由摸了耶稣，以及怎样立刻得了痊愈。 48 耶稣对她说：“女儿，[r]你的信救了你，平平安安地去吧。”
49 耶稣还在说话的时候，有人从会堂主管的家[s]来，对睚鲁[t]说：“你的女儿已经死了，不要再麻烦老师了。”
50 耶稣听了，就对睚鲁说：“不要怕，只要信！她就会得救治。” 51 耶稣来到他的家，除了彼得、约翰、雅各和孩子的父母以外，不准任何人与他一起进去。 52 大家都在为那女孩捶胸哀哭。耶稣说：“不要哭！她不是死了，而是睡了。”
53 他们知道女孩已经死了，就讥笑耶稣。 54 但是耶稣[u]握着女孩的手，呼唤说：“孩子，起来！” 55 于是她的灵魂回来了，她就立刻起来。耶稣吩咐给她吃东西。 56 她的父母十分惊讶，耶稣吩咐他们不要把所发生的事告诉任何人。

Mujeres que sirven a Jesús
8 Aconteció después, que Jesús iba por todas las ciudades y aldeas, predicando y anunciando el evangelio del reino de Dios, y los doce con él, 2 y algunas mujeres que habían sido sanadas de espíritus malos y de enfermedades: María, que se llamaba Magdalena, de la que habían salido siete demonios, 3 Juana, mujer de Chuza intendente de Herodes, y Susana, y otras muchas que le servían de sus bienes.(A)
Parábola del sembrador
(Mt. 13.1-15,18-23; Mr. 4.1-20)
4 Juntándose una gran multitud, y los que de cada ciudad venían a él, les dijo por parábola: 5 El sembrador salió a sembrar su semilla; y mientras sembraba, una parte cayó junto al camino, y fue hollada, y las aves del cielo la comieron. 6 Otra parte cayó sobre la piedra; y nacida, se secó, porque no tenía humedad. 7 Otra parte cayó entre espinos, y los espinos que nacieron juntamente con ella, la ahogaron. 8 Y otra parte cayó en buena tierra, y nació y llevó fruto a ciento por uno. Hablando estas cosas, decía a gran voz: El que tiene oídos para oír, oiga.
9 Y sus discípulos le preguntaron, diciendo: ¿Qué significa esta parábola? 10 Y él dijo: A vosotros os es dado conocer los misterios del reino de Dios; pero a los otros por parábolas, para que viendo no vean, y oyendo no entiendan.(B) 11 Esta es, pues, la parábola: La semilla es la palabra de Dios. 12 Y los de junto al camino son los que oyen, y luego viene el diablo y quita de su corazón la palabra, para que no crean y se salven. 13 Los de sobre la piedra son los que habiendo oído, reciben la palabra con gozo; pero estos no tienen raíces; creen por algún tiempo, y en el tiempo de la prueba se apartan. 14 La que cayó entre espinos, estos son los que oyen, pero yéndose, son ahogados por los afanes y las riquezas y los placeres de la vida, y no llevan fruto. 15 Mas la que cayó en buena tierra, estos son los que con corazón bueno y recto retienen la palabra oída, y dan fruto con perseverancia.
Nada oculto que no haya de ser manifestado

16 Nadie que enciende una luz la cubre con una vasija, ni la pone debajo de la cama, sino que la pone en un candelero(C) para que los que entran vean la luz. 17 Porque nada hay oculto, que no haya de ser manifestado; ni escondido, que no haya de ser conocido, y de salir a luz.(D) 18 Mirad, pues, cómo oís; porque a todo el que tiene, se le dará; y a todo el que no tiene, aun lo que piensa tener se le quitará.(E)
La madre y los hermanos de Jesús

19 Entonces su madre y sus hermanos vinieron a él; pero no podían llegar hasta él por causa de la multitud. 20 Y se le avisó, diciendo: Tu madre y tus hermanos están fuera y quieren verte. 21 Él entonces respondiendo, les dijo: Mi madre y mis hermanos son los que oyen la palabra de Dios, y la hacen.
Jesús calma la tempestad

22 Aconteció un día, que entró en una barca con sus discípulos, y les dijo: Pasemos al otro lado del lago. Y partieron. 23 Pero mientras navegaban, él se durmió. Y se desencadenó una tempestad de viento en el lago; y se anegaban y peligraban. 24 Y vinieron a él y le despertaron, diciendo: ¡Maestro, Maestro, que perecemos! Despertando él, reprendió al viento y a las olas; y cesaron, y se hizo bonanza. 25 Y les dijo: ¿Dónde está vuestra fe? Y atemorizados, se maravillaban, y se decían unos a otros: ¿Quién es este, que aun a los vientos y a las aguas manda, y le obedecen?
El endemoniado gadareno

26 Y arribaron a la tierra de los gadarenos, que está en la ribera opuesta a Galilea. 27 Al llegar él a tierra, vino a su encuentro un hombre de la ciudad, endemoniado desde hacía mucho tiempo; y no vestía ropa, ni moraba en casa, sino en los sepulcros. 28 Este, al ver a Jesús, lanzó un gran grito, y postrándose a sus pies exclamó a gran voz: ¿Qué tienes conmigo, Jesús, Hijo del Dios Altísimo? Te ruego que no me atormentes. 29 (Porque mandaba al espíritu inmundo que saliese del hombre, pues hacía mucho tiempo que se había apoderado de él; y le ataban con cadenas y grillos, pero rompiendo las cadenas, era impelido por el demonio a los desiertos.) 30 Y le preguntó Jesús, diciendo: ¿Cómo te llamas? Y él dijo: Legión. Porque muchos demonios habían entrado en él. 31 Y le rogaban que no los mandase ir al abismo. 32 Había allí un hato de muchos cerdos que pacían en el monte; y le rogaron que los dejase entrar en ellos; y les dio permiso. 33 Y los demonios, salidos del hombre, entraron en los cerdos; y el hato se precipitó por un despeñadero al lago, y se ahogó.
34 Y los que apacentaban los cerdos, cuando vieron lo que había acontecido, huyeron, y yendo dieron aviso en la ciudad y por los campos. 35 Y salieron a ver lo que había sucedido; y vinieron a Jesús, y hallaron al hombre de quien habían salido los demonios, sentado a los pies de Jesús, vestido, y en su cabal juicio; y tuvieron miedo. 36 Y los que lo habían visto, les contaron cómo había sido salvado el endemoniado. 37 Entonces toda la multitud de la región alrededor de los gadarenos le rogó que se marchase de ellos, pues tenían gran temor. Y Jesús, entrando en la barca, se volvió. 38 Y el hombre de quien habían salido los demonios le rogaba que le dejase estar con él; pero Jesús le despidió, diciendo: 39 Vuélvete a tu casa, y cuenta cuán grandes cosas ha hecho Dios contigo. Y él se fue, publicando por toda la ciudad cuán grandes cosas había hecho Jesús con él.
La hija de Jairo, y la mujer que tocó el manto de Jesús

40 Cuando volvió Jesús, le recibió la multitud con gozo; porque todos le esperaban. 41 Entonces vino un varón llamado Jairo, que era principal de la sinagoga, y postrándose a los pies de Jesús, le rogaba que entrase en su casa; 42 porque tenía una hija única, como de doce años, que se estaba muriendo.
Y mientras iba, la multitud le oprimía. 43 Pero una mujer que padecía de flujo de sangre desde hacía doce años, y que había gastado en médicos todo cuanto tenía, y por ninguno había podido ser curada, 44 se le acercó por detrás y tocó el borde de su manto; y al instante se detuvo el flujo de su sangre. 45 Entonces Jesús dijo: ¿Quién es el que me ha tocado? Y negando todos, dijo Pedro y los que con él estaban: Maestro, la multitud te aprieta y oprime, y dices: ¿Quién es el que me ha tocado? 46 Pero Jesús dijo: Alguien me ha tocado; porque yo he conocido que ha salido poder de mí. 47 Entonces, cuando la mujer vio que no había quedado oculta, vino temblando, y postrándose a sus pies, le declaró delante de todo el pueblo por qué causa le había tocado, y cómo al instante había sido sanada. 48 Y él le dijo: Hija, tu fe te ha salvado; ve en paz.
49 Estaba hablando aún, cuando vino uno de casa del principal de la sinagoga a decirle: Tu hija ha muerto; no molestes más al Maestro. 50 Oyéndolo Jesús, le respondió: No temas; cree solamente, y será salva. 51 Entrando en la casa, no dejó entrar a nadie consigo, sino a Pedro, a Jacobo, a Juan, y al padre y a la madre de la niña. 52 Y lloraban todos y hacían lamentación por ella. Pero él dijo: No lloréis; no está muerta, sino que duerme. 53 Y se burlaban de él, sabiendo que estaba muerta. 54 Mas él, tomándola de la mano, clamó diciendo: Muchacha, levántate. 55 Entonces su espíritu volvió, e inmediatamente se levantó; y él mandó que se le diese de comer. 56 Y sus padres estaban atónitos; pero Jesús les mandó que a nadie dijesen lo que había sucedido.

Parábola del sembrador(A)
8 Después de esto, Jesús estuvo recorriendo los pueblos y las aldeas, proclamando las buenas noticias del reino de Dios. Lo acompañaban los doce 2 y también algunas mujeres que habían sido sanadas de espíritus malignos y de enfermedades: María, a la que llamaban Magdalena y de la que habían salido siete demonios; 3 Juana, esposa de Cuza, el administrador de Herodes; Susana y muchas más que los ayudaban con sus propios recursos.
4 De cada pueblo salía gente para ver a Jesús y cuando se reunió una gran multitud, él contó esta parábola: 5 «Un sembrador salió a sembrar. Al esparcir las semillas, una parte cayó junto al camino; fue pisoteada y los pájaros se la comieron. 6 Otra parte cayó sobre las piedras y cuando brotó, las plantas se secaron por falta de humedad. 7 Otra parte cayó entre espinos que, al crecer junto con las semillas, ahogaron las plantas. 8 Pero otra parte cayó en buen terreno; así que brotó y produjo una cosecha del ciento por uno».
Dicho esto, exclamó: «El que tenga oídos para oír, que oiga».
9 Sus discípulos preguntaron cuál era el significado de esta parábola. 10 Jesús respondió:
«A ustedes se les ha concedido conocer los misterios del reino de Dios; pero a los demás se les habla por medio de parábolas para que
»“aunque miren, no vean;
aunque oigan, no entiendan”.[a]
11 »Este es el significado de la parábola: La semilla es la palabra de Dios. 12 Los que están junto al camino son los que oyen, pero luego viene el diablo y les quita la palabra del corazón, no sea que crean y se salven. 13 Los que están sobre las piedras son los que reciben la palabra con alegría cuando la oyen, pero no tienen raíz. Estos creen por algún tiempo, pero se apartan cuando llega la prueba. 14 La parte que cayó entre espinos son los que oyen, pero los ahogan las preocupaciones, las riquezas y los placeres de esta vida, y no maduran. 15 Pero la parte que cayó en buen terreno son los que oyen la palabra con corazón noble y bueno, la retienen y, como perseveran, producen una buena cosecha.
Una lámpara en una repisa
16 »Nadie enciende una lámpara para después cubrirla con una vasija o ponerla debajo de la cama, sino para ponerla en un candelero, a fin de que los que entren tengan luz. 17 Porque no hay nada escondido que no llegue a descubrirse ni nada oculto que no llegue a conocerse públicamente. 18 Por lo tanto, pongan mucha atención. Al que tiene se le dará más; al que no tiene hasta lo que cree tener se le quitará».

19 La madre y los hermanos de Jesús fueron a verlo, pero, como había mucha gente, no lograban acercársele.
20 —Tu madre y tus hermanos están afuera y quieren verte —le avisaron.
21 Pero él contestó:
—Mi madre y mis hermanos son los que oyen la palabra de Dios y la ponen en práctica.
Jesús calma la tormenta(C)
22 Un día subió Jesús con sus discípulos a una barca.
—Crucemos al otro lado del lago —dijo.
Así que partieron, 23 y mientras navegaban, él se durmió. Entonces se desató una tormenta sobre el lago, de modo que la barca comenzó a inundarse y corrían gran peligro.
24 Los discípulos fueron a despertarlo.
—¡Maestro, Maestro, nos vamos a ahogar! —gritaron.
Él se levantó y reprendió al viento y a las olas; la tormenta se apaciguó y todo quedó tranquilo.
25 —¿Dónde está la fe de ustedes? —preguntó a sus discípulos.
Con temor y asombro ellos se decían unos a otros: «¿Quién es este que manda aun a los vientos y al agua, y le obedecen?».
Liberación de un endemoniado(D)(E)
26 Navegaron hasta la región de los gerasenos,[b] que está al otro lado del lago, frente a Galilea. 27 Al desembarcar Jesús, un endemoniado que venía del pueblo salió a su encuentro. Hacía mucho tiempo que este hombre no se vestía; tampoco vivía en una casa, sino en los sepulcros. 28 Cuando vio a Jesús, dio un grito y se arrojó a sus pies. Entonces exclamó con fuerza:
—¿Por qué te entrometes, Jesús, Hijo del Dios Altísimo? ¡Te ruego que no me atormentes!
29 Es que Jesús había ordenado al espíritu maligno que saliera del hombre. Se había apoderado de él muchas veces y, aunque le sujetaban los pies y las manos con cadenas y lo mantenían bajo custodia, rompía las cadenas y el demonio lo arrastraba a lugares solitarios.
30 —¿Cómo te llamas? —le preguntó Jesús.
—Legión —respondió, ya que habían entrado en él muchos demonios.
31 Y estos suplicaban a Jesús que no los mandara al abismo. 32 En una colina estaba alimentándose una manada de muchos cerdos. Entonces los demonios rogaron a Jesús que los dejara entrar en ellos. Así que él les dio permiso. 33 Cuando los demonios salieron del hombre, entraron en los cerdos; entonces la manada se precipitó al lago por el despeñadero y se ahogó.
34 Al ver lo sucedido, los que cuidaban los cerdos huyeron y avisaron en el pueblo y por los campos, 35 por lo que la gente salió a ver lo que había pasado. Llegaron adonde estaba Jesús y encontraron, sentado a sus pies, al hombre de quien habían salido los demonios. Cuando lo vieron vestido y en su sano juicio, tuvieron miedo. 36 Los que habían presenciado estas cosas contaron a la gente cómo el endemoniado había sido sanado. 37 Entonces toda la gente de la región de los gerasenos pidió a Jesús que se fuera de allí, porque les había entrado mucho miedo. Así que él subió a la barca para irse.
38 Ahora bien, el hombre de quien habían salido los demonios rogaba que le permitiera acompañarlo, pero Jesús lo despidió y dijo:
39 —Vuelve a tu casa y cuenta todo lo que Dios ha hecho por ti.
Así que el hombre se fue y proclamó por todo el pueblo lo mucho que Jesús había hecho por él.
Una niña muerta y una mujer enferma(F)
40 Cuando Jesús regresó, la multitud se alegró de verlo, pues todos estaban esperándolo. 41 En esto llegó un hombre llamado Jairo, que era jefe de la sinagoga. Se arrojó a los pies de Jesús y le suplicó que fuera a su casa 42 porque su única hija, de unos doce años, estaba muriendo.
Jesús se puso en camino y las multitudes se agolpaban sobre él. 43 Había entre la gente una mujer que hacía doce años padecía de hemorragias,[c] sin que nadie pudiera sanarla. Había gastado todo lo que tenía en médicos. 44 Ella se le acercó por detrás, tocó el borde de su manto y al instante cesó su hemorragia.
45 —¿Quién me ha tocado? —preguntó Jesús.
Como todos negaban haberlo tocado, Pedro le dijo:
—Maestro, son multitudes las que te aprietan y te oprimen.
46 —No, alguien me ha tocado —respondió Jesús—; yo sé que de mí ha salido poder.
47 La mujer, al ver que no podía pasar inadvertida, se acercó temblando y se arrojó a sus pies. En presencia de toda la gente, contó por qué lo había tocado y cómo había sido sanada al instante.
48 —¡Hija, tu fe te ha sanado! —dijo Jesús—. Vete en paz.
49 Todavía estaba hablando Jesús cuando alguien llegó de la casa de Jairo, jefe de la sinagoga, para decirle:
—Tu hija ha muerto. No molestes más al Maestro.
50 Al oír esto, Jesús dijo a Jairo:
—No tengas miedo; nada más cree y ella será sanada.
51 Cuando llegó a la casa de Jairo, no dejó que nadie entrara con él, excepto Pedro, Juan y Santiago, y también el padre y la madre de la niña. 52 Todos estaban llorando muy afligidos por ella.
—Dejen de llorar —dijo Jesús—. No está muerta, sino dormida.
53 Entonces ellos empezaron a burlarse de él porque sabían que estaba muerta. 54 Pero él la tomó de la mano y dijo:

8 And it came to pass afterward, that he went throughout every city and village, preaching and shewing the glad tidings of the kingdom of God: and the twelve were with him,
2 And certain women, which had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities, Mary called Magdalene, out of whom went seven devils,
3 And Joanna the wife of Chuza Herod's steward, and Susanna, and many others, which ministered unto him of their substance.
4 And when much people were gathered together, and were come to him out of every city, he spake by a parable:
5 A sower went out to sow his seed: and as he sowed, some fell by the way side; and it was trodden down, and the fowls of the air devoured it.
6 And some fell upon a rock; and as soon as it was sprung up, it withered away, because it lacked moisture.
7 And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprang up with it, and choked it.
8 And other fell on good ground, and sprang up, and bare fruit an hundredfold. And when he had said these things, he cried, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
9 And his disciples asked him, saying, What might this parable be?
10 And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand.
11 Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.
12 Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved.
13 They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away.
14 And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection.
15 But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.
16 No man, when he hath lighted a candle, covereth it with a vessel, or putteth it under a bed; but setteth it on a candlestick, that they which enter in may see the light.
17 For nothing is secret, that shall not be made manifest; neither any thing hid, that shall not be known and come abroad.
18 Take heed therefore how ye hear: for whosoever hath, to him shall be given; and whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he seemeth to have.
19 Then came to him his mother and his brethren, and could not come at him for the press.
20 And it was told him by certain which said, Thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to see thee.
21 And he answered and said unto them, My mother and my brethren are these which hear the word of God, and do it.
22 Now it came to pass on a certain day, that he went into a ship with his disciples: and he said unto them, Let us go over unto the other side of the lake. And they launched forth.
23 But as they sailed he fell asleep: and there came down a storm of wind on the lake; and they were filled with water, and were in jeopardy.
24 And they came to him, and awoke him, saying, Master, master, we perish. Then he arose, and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water: and they ceased, and there was a calm.
25 And he said unto them, Where is your faith? And they being afraid wondered, saying one to another, What manner of man is this! for he commandeth even the winds and water, and they obey him.
26 And they arrived at the country of the Gadarenes, which is over against Galilee.
27 And when he went forth to land, there met him out of the city a certain man, which had devils long time, and ware no clothes, neither abode in any house, but in the tombs.
28 When he saw Jesus, he cried out, and fell down before him, and with a loud voice said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God most high? I beseech thee, torment me not.
29 (For he had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For oftentimes it had caught him: and he was kept bound with chains and in fetters; and he brake the bands, and was driven of the devil into the wilderness.)
30 And Jesus asked him, saying, What is thy name? And he said, Legion: because many devils were entered into him.
31 And they besought him that he would not command them to go out into the deep.
32 And there was there an herd of many swine feeding on the mountain: and they besought him that he would suffer them to enter into them. And he suffered them.
33 Then went the devils out of the man, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the lake, and were choked.
34 When they that fed them saw what was done, they fled, and went and told it in the city and in the country.
35 Then they went out to see what was done; and came to Jesus, and found the man, out of whom the devils were departed, sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid.
36 They also which saw it told them by what means he that was possessed of the devils was healed.
37 Then the whole multitude of the country of the Gadarenes round about besought him to depart from them; for they were taken with great fear: and he went up into the ship, and returned back again.
38 Now the man out of whom the devils were departed besought him that he might be with him: but Jesus sent him away, saying,
39 Return to thine own house, and shew how great things God hath done unto thee. And he went his way, and published throughout the whole city how great things Jesus had done unto him.
40 And it came to pass, that, when Jesus was returned, the people gladly received him: for they were all waiting for him.
41 And, behold, there came a man named Jairus, and he was a ruler of the synagogue: and he fell down at Jesus' feet, and besought him that he would come into his house:
42 For he had one only daughter, about twelve years of age, and she lay a dying. But as he went the people thronged him.
43 And a woman having an issue of blood twelve years, which had spent all her living upon physicians, neither could be healed of any,
44 Came behind him, and touched the border of his garment: and immediately her issue of blood stanched.
45 And Jesus said, Who touched me? When all denied, Peter and they that were with him said, Master, the multitude throng thee and press thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?
46 And Jesus said, Somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me.
47 And when the woman saw that she was not hid, she came trembling, and falling down before him, she declared unto him before all the people for what cause she had touched him, and how she was healed immediately.
48 And he said unto her, Daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace.
49 While he yet spake, there cometh one from the ruler of the synagogue's house, saying to him, Thy daughter is dead; trouble not the Master.
50 But when Jesus heard it, he answered him, saying, Fear not: believe only, and she shall be made whole.
51 And when he came into the house, he suffered no man to go in, save Peter, and James, and John, and the father and the mother of the maiden.
52 And all wept, and bewailed her: but he said, Weep not; she is not dead, but sleepeth.
53 And they laughed him to scorn, knowing that she was dead.
54 And he put them all out, and took her by the hand, and called, saying, Maid, arise.
55 And her spirit came again, and she arose straightway: and he commanded to give her meat.
56 And her parents were astonished: but he charged them that they should tell no man what was done.
