3 耶稣回答道∶“难道你们不曾读到过大卫和他手下的人在饥饿的时刻是怎么做的吗？ 4 他们走进了上帝的大殿，大卫拿起献给上帝的贡饼就吃，并且还把它分给了他的随从们吃。而那些贡饼除了祭司们外，任何其他人吃，都是违法的。” 5 然后，耶稣又说∶“人子才是安息日之主。”
耶稣在安息日治愈手残的人
6 在另一个安息日里，耶稣在会堂里教导人们，一个右手萎缩的人也在那里。 7 那些律法师和法利赛人密切地窥伺着他，看他是否在安息日为人治病，他们企图抓住把柄来控告他。 8 但是耶稣看穿了他们的心思。他对那个手残的人说∶“起来，站到大家面前来！”那个人照他的话做了。 9 耶稣又对他们说∶“我问你们，在安息日里哪个是合法的呢：应该做好事，还是应该做坏事呢？” 10 耶稣环顾周围所有的人，然后对那个手残的人说∶“伸出你的手！”那人刚一伸出手，手便康复了。 11 但是，律法师和法利赛人却非常气愤，他们彼此商量着如何对付耶稣。
耶稣选出十二个使徒
12 那时，耶稣到山上去祈祷，他整夜向上帝祈祷。 13 一天，天亮的时候，他把门徒们召集在一起，从他们中间挑选出十二个人，称他们为使徒。 14 这十二个人是：西门 [a]、和他的兄弟安得烈，还有雅各、约翰、腓力、巴多罗买、 15 马太和多马、亚勒腓的儿子雅各和被人称他为激进派的西门， 16 还有雅各的儿子犹大，以及后来出卖耶稣的加略人犹大。
耶稣传教，治病救人
17 耶稣和他的使徒们一起下山了，他们站在一块平地上，很多人聚集在那里。这些人分别是从犹太城、耶路撒冷、推罗和西顿的海滨赶来的， 18 他们都是来听耶稣教导的，并得到了治愈。耶稣为那些被邪灵困惑的人治好了病。 19 大家都想摸一摸耶稣，因为他们知道会有能量从他身上发出。耶稣医治了他们所有人的疾病。
20 耶稣举目看着门徒，说道：
“贫穷的人们，你们受到祝福，
因为上帝的王国属于你们。
21 饥饿的人们，你们受到祝福，
因为你们将得到饱餐；
哭泣的人们，你们受到祝福，
因为你们将要欢笑。
22 “因为人子的缘故，当人们憎恨你们、孤立你们、侮辱你们，并认为你们的名声邪恶而拒绝你们时，你们就受到祝福了。 23 在那天，你们将要欢呼雀跃，因为你们在天堂里的奖赏是巨大的。当年他们的祖先也是这样对待先知的。
24 “但是，富人们要遭殃了，
因为你们已经享受了安逸；
25 现在饱食终日的人，你们要遭殃了，
因为你们将要忍饥挨饿；
现在欢笑的人们要遭殃了，
因为你们将悲哀和哭泣；
26 “人人都夸你们的时候，你们要遭殃了，因为他们的祖先就是这样对待假先知的。
爱你们的敌人
27 “但是，你们这些听我讲话的人，我告诉你们，要爱你们的敌人，善待憎恨你们的人， 28 祝福那些咒骂你们的人们，为那些虐待你们的人祈祷。 29 如果有人打了你一边脸，你就把另一边脸也伸过去让他打；如果有人拿走了你的外衣，就把衬衫也送给他； 30 要给予对你有所求的人，如果有人拿走了你的东西，不要再要回来。 31 你们想让别人怎样对待你们，你们也应该怎样对待别人。 32 如果你们只爱那些爱你们的人，那有什么可值得称道的呢？即使是罪人也爱那些爱他们的人； 33 如果你们只善待那些善待你们的人，那有什么可值得称道的呢？就连罪人也会这么做。 34 如果你们只把东西借给那些有希望偿还的人，又有什么值得称道的呢？就连罪人也会把钱借给别的罪人，只要他们能如数归还！
35 爱你们的敌人吧，善待他们吧。借钱给别人，而不要期待别人归还。这样，你们就会得到巨大的奖赏，而且将成为至高的上帝的儿子，因为他（上帝）就善待着那些忘恩负义和邪恶的人们。 36 你们要像你们的父亲那样仁慈。
反躬自省
37 不要评判人，上帝就不会评判你们；不要给别人定罪，你们就不会被定罪；要宽恕别人，你们就会得到宽恕。 38 施与别人，你们也会得到施与，他们会连摇带按地往你怀里塞东西，满得都抱不住。你们用什么样的量器来衡量别人，你们自己也会受到这同样的量器来衡量。
39 耶稣又给他们讲了一个比喻，说∶“一个盲人能给另一个盲人带路吗？他们俩难道不会一起跌进沟里吗？ 40 学生不会高于老师，但是，当他学成后，就会像他的老师一样。
41 为什么你只看见朋友眼里有刺，却看不见自己眼里有梁木呢？ 42 你看不到自己眼里有梁木，又怎么能对你的朋友说∶‘朋友，让我来把你眼中的刺挑出来’？你这个虚伪的人啊，还是先移去你自己眼中的梁木吧，然后，你才能看清楚，把朋友眼里的刺挑出来。
好树结好果
43 好树结不出恶果，坏树也结不出好果； 44 树的好坏是从它结的果实来分辨的。人们不在荆棘丛中摘无花果，也不在灌木丛中摘葡萄。 45 善良人的内心蕴藏着美好，所以，他们的话也是美好的；但是，恶人的内心却蕴藏着邪恶，他们的话也就充满了邪恶。一个人的内心充满了什么，口中就会说出什么。
两种人
46 你们为什么呼叫我“主啊，主”的，却不照我说的去做呢？ 47 每个到我这里来、听了我的话并服从它们的人， 我要告诉你们他像什么样的人： 48 他就像一个盖房子的人，首先深挖土地，把地基打在磐石上，所以，即使洪水来了，冲击那座房子，它也不会动摇，因为房子建造得很结实。
49 可是，那个听到我的话而不去执行的人，就像一个人，把房子建在没有地基的地上，河水一冲，房子便立刻倒塌，彻底给毁坏了。”

Jesus Is Lord of the Sabbath
6 (A)On a Sabbath,[a] while he was going through the grainfields, his disciples (B)plucked and ate some ears of corn, rubbing them in their hands. 2 But some of the Pharisees said, (C)“Why are you doing (D)what is not lawful to do on the Sabbath?” 3 And Jesus answered them, (E)“Have you not read (F)what David did when he was hungry, he and those who were with him: 4 how he entered the house of God and took and ate (G)the bread of the Presence, (H)which is not lawful for any but the priests to eat, and also gave it to those with him?” 5 And he said to them, (I)“The Son of Man is lord of the Sabbath.”
A Man with a Withered Hand
6 On another Sabbath, (J)he entered the synagogue (K)and was teaching, and a man was there whose right hand was withered. 7 And the scribes and the Pharisees (L)watched him, to see whether he would heal on the Sabbath, (M)so that they might find a reason to accuse him. 8 But (N)he knew their thoughts, and he said to the man with the withered hand, “Come and stand here.” And he rose and stood there. 9 And Jesus said to them, “I ask you, (O)is it lawful on the Sabbath to do good or to do harm, to save life or to destroy it?” 10 And (P)after looking around at them all he said to him, “Stretch out your hand.” And (Q)he did so, and his hand was restored. 11 But they were filled with (R)fury and discussed with one another what they might do to Jesus.
The Twelve Apostles

(AG)And those who were troubled with unclean spirits were cured. 19 And all the crowd (AH)sought to touch him, for (AI)power came out from him and healed them all.
The Beatitudes
20 And (AJ)he lifted up his eyes on his disciples, (AK)and said:
“Blessed are you who are poor, for (AL)yours is the kingdom of God.
21 (AM)“Blessed are you who are hungry now, for you shall be satisfied.
(AN)“Blessed are you who weep now, for you shall laugh.

26 “Woe to you, (BA)when all people speak well of you, for (BB)so their fathers did to (BC)the false prophets.
Love Your Enemies
27 “But I say to you who hear, (BD)Love your enemies, (BE)do good to those who hate you, 28 (BF)bless those who curse you, (BG)pray for those who abuse you. 29 (BH)To one who (BI)strikes you on the cheek, offer the other also, and from one who takes away your cloak do not withhold your tunic[b] either. 30 (BJ)Give to everyone who begs from you, and from one who takes away your goods do not demand them back. 31 And (BK)as you wish that others would do to you, do so to them.
32 (BL)“If you love those who love you, what benefit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them. 33 And if you do good to those who do good to you, what benefit is that to you? For even sinners do the same. 34 And (BM)if you (BN)lend to those from whom you expect to receive, what credit is that to you? Judging Others
37 (BU)(BV)“Judge not, and you will not be judged; condemn not, and you will not be condemned; (BW)forgive, and you will be forgiven; 38 (BX)give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put (BY)into your lap. For (BZ)with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.”
39 He also told them a parable: (CA)“Can a blind man lead a blind man? Will they not both fall into a pit? 40 (CB)A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone when he is (CC)fully trained will be like his teacher. 41 (CD)Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but (CE)do not notice the log that is in your own eye? 42 How can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me take out the speck that is in your eye’, when you yourself do not see the log that is in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take out the speck that is in your brother's eye.
A Tree and Its Fruit
43 “For (CF)no good tree bears bad fruit, nor again does a bad tree bear good fruit, 44 for (CG)each tree is known by its own fruit. For figs are not gathered from thorn bushes, nor are grapes picked from a bramble bush. 45 (CH)The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces (CI)evil, (CJ)for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.
Build Your House on the Rock
46 (CK)“Why (CL)do you call me ‘Lord, Lord’, and not do what I tell you? 47 (CM)Everyone who comes to me and hears my words and does them, I will show you what he is like: 48 he is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when a flood arose, the stream broke against that house and could not shake it, because it had been well built.[c] 49 (CN)But the one who hears and does not do them is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. When the stream broke against it, immediately it fell, and (CO)the ruin of that house was great.”

The Beatitudes
20 Then looking up at his disciples, he said:(S)
Blessed are you who are poor,
because the kingdom of God is yours.
21 Blessed are you who are hungry now,
because you will be filled.
Blessed are you who weep now,
because you will laugh.
22 Blessed are you when people hate you,

Love Your Enemies
27 “But I say to you who listen: Love your enemies, do what is good to those who hate you, 28 bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.(Y) 29 If anyone hits you on the cheek,(Z) offer the other also. And if anyone takes away your coat, don’t hold back your shirt either. 30 Give to everyone who asks you, and from someone who takes your things, don’t ask for them back. 31 Just as you want others to do for you, do the same for them.(AA) 32 If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners love those who love them.(AB) 33 If you do what is good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you? Do Not Judge
37 “Do not judge, and you will not be judged.(AF) Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.(AG) 38 Give, and it will be given to you; a good measure—pressed down, shaken together, and running over—will be poured into your lap.(AH) For with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you.”(AI)
39 He also told them a parable: “Can the blind guide the blind? Won’t they both fall into a pit?(AJ) 40 A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone who is fully trained will be like his teacher.(AK)
41 “Why do you look at the splinter in your brother’s eye, but don’t notice the beam of wood in your own eye? 42 Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me take out the splinter that is in your eye,’ when you yourself don’t see the beam of wood in your eye? Hypocrite! First take the beam of wood out of your eye, and then you will see clearly to take out the splinter in your brother’s eye.
A Tree and Its Fruit
43 “A good tree doesn’t produce bad fruit; on the other hand, a bad tree doesn’t produce good fruit.[e](AL) 44 For each tree is known by its own fruit. Figs aren’t gathered from thornbushes, or grapes picked from a bramble bush. 45 A good person produces good out of the good stored up in his heart. An evil person produces evil out of the evil stored up in his heart, for his mouth speaks from the overflow of the heart.
The Two Foundations
46 “Why do you call me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and don’t do the things I say?(AM) 47 I will show you what someone is like who comes to me, hears my words, and acts on them:(AN) 48 He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. When the flood came, the river crashed against that house and couldn’t shake it, because it was well built. 49 But the one who hears and does not act is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The river crashed against it, and immediately it collapsed. And the destruction of that house was great.”(AO)
