第一批门徒
5 有一次，当人群拥挤着耶稣，听神的话语[a]的时候，他正站在革尼撒勒湖边[b]。 2 他看见湖边停着两条船，渔夫们下了船，正在洗网。 3 有一条船是西门的，耶稣上去，请他把船划出去，稍微离岸。耶稣就坐下来，从船上教导众人。
4 讲完了以后，他对西门说：“把船划到水深的地方，下网捕鱼吧。”
5 西门回答说：“老师，我们劳碌了一整夜，什么也没有捕到。不过按照你的话，我就下网吧。”
6 他们这样做了，网住了一大群鱼，渔网几乎要撑破。 7 他们就招呼另一条船上的伙伴来帮忙；他们过来，装满了两条船，甚至两条船都几乎要沉下去了。
8 西门彼得看见，就俯伏在耶稣脚[c]前，说：“主啊，离开我吧，因为我是个罪人！” 9 那时，他和所有与他一起的人，都对这一网捕到的鱼惊讶不已。 10 西门的伙伴，就是西庇太的儿子雅各和约翰，也同样惊讶。
耶稣对西门说：“不要怕！从今以后，你将得人了[d]。” 11 他们把两条船靠了岸，舍弃一切跟从了耶稣。
洁净麻风病人
12 有一次，耶稣在一个城里，忽然有个浑身长满麻风的人，看见耶稣就把脸伏在地上，央求他说：“主啊，如果你愿意，你就能洁净我。”
13 耶稣伸出手来摸他，说：“我愿意，你洁净了吧！”麻风病立刻离开了他。 14 耶稣吩咐他不要告诉任何人，说：“只要去把自己给祭司看，并且为了你的洁净，照着摩西所吩咐的去献上祭物，好对他们做见证。”
15 耶稣的消息反而越发传开了。有一大群人聚集而来，听他传道[e]，也要他们的病得痊愈。 16 耶稣却常常退到旷野去祷告。
赦罪与治病
17 就在那些日子里，有一天耶稣在教导人的时候，也有些法利赛人和律法教师坐在那里，他们是从加利利和犹太地区的各村庄，以及耶路撒冷来的。主的大能与耶稣同在，使他能医病。 18 这时候，有几个人用床榻抬来一个瘫痪的人，想把他带进去放在耶稣面前。 19 但由于人多，他们没有办法[f]把他带进去，就爬上屋顶，从屋瓦中间把他和床榻一起缒到众人当中，正在耶稣面前。
20 耶稣看见他们的信心，就对瘫痪的人说：“朋友[g]，你的罪孽已经被赦免了。”
21 那些经文士和法利赛人就开始想：“这个人是谁？竟说亵渎的话。除了神一位之外，谁能赦免罪呢？”
22 耶稣知道他们的意念，就对他们说：“你们心里为什么这样想呢？ 23 或说‘你的罪孽已经被赦免了’，或说‘你起来走路’，哪一样更容易呢？ 24 不过为要使你们知道人子在地上有赦免罪的权柄——”耶稣就对瘫痪的人说：“我吩咐你：起来，拿起你的床榻，回家去吧！”
25 那个人立刻在大家面前站了起来，拿起他所躺的床榻回家去，一路上荣耀神。 26 于是大家都惊讶不已，就不住地荣耀神，并且满怀敬畏之心说：“我们今天看到奇妙的事了！”
呼召利未
27 这些事以后，耶稣出去，看到一个名叫利未[h]的税吏，在税关坐着。耶稣对他说：“你跟从我！” 28 利未就撇下一切，站起来跟从了耶稣。
与罪人吃饭
29 利未在自己家里为耶稣预备盛大的宴席，有一大群税吏和其他人与他们一同坐席。 30 法利赛人和他们的经文士就向耶稣的门徒们抱怨，说：“你们为什么与那些税吏和罪人一起吃喝呢？”
31 耶稣对他们说：“健康的人不需要医生，有病的人才需要。 32 我来不是要召唤义人，而是要召唤罪人来悔改。”
禁食的问题
33 他们对耶稣说：“约翰的门徒们经常禁食、祈祷，法利赛人的门徒们也是如此，而你的门徒们却又吃又喝。[i]”
34 耶稣对他们说：“新郎与宾客[j]在一起的时候，难道你们能叫宾客禁食吗？ 35 可是日子将要来到：当新郎从他们中间被带走的时候，他们那时——在那些日子里就要禁食了。”
36 耶稣又对他们讲了一个比喻：“没有人从新衣服上撕下一块布来缝在旧衣服上，否则，他不但撕破了新衣服，而且来自新衣服的那块布与旧衣服不相称。 37 也没有人把新酒装在旧皮袋里，否则新酒会胀破旧皮袋，酒会流出来，皮袋也会糟蹋了。 38 因此，新酒必须装在新皮袋里。[k] 39 没有人喝了陈酒以后想喝新酒，因为他总说：‘还是陈酒好[l]。’”

The First Disciples
5 As the crowd was pressing in on Jesus to hear God’s word,(A) he was standing by Lake Gennesaret.[a](B) 2 He saw two boats at the edge of the lake; the fishermen had left them and were washing their nets. 3 He got into one of the boats,(C) which belonged to Simon, and asked him to put out a little from the land. Then he sat down and was teaching the crowds from the boat.
4 When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, ‘Put out into deep water and let down your nets for a catch.’(D)
5 ‘Master,’(E) Simon replied, ‘we’ve worked hard all night long and caught nothing. But if you say so, I’ll let down the nets.’[b]
6 When they did this, they caught a great number of fish, and their nets[c] began to tear. 7 So they signalled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them; they came and filled both boats so full that they began to sink.
8 When Simon Peter saw this, he fell at Jesus’s knees and said, ‘Go away from me, because I’m a sinful man, Lord! ’(F) 9 For he and all those with him were amazed(G) at the catch of fish they had taken, 10 and so were James and John, Zebedee’s sons, who were Simon’s partners.
‘Don’t be afraid,’(H) Jesus told Simon. ‘From now on you will be catching people.’(I) 11 Then they brought the boats to land, left everything, and followed him.(J)
A Man Cleansed
12 While he was in one of the towns, a man was there who had leprosy[d] all over him.(K) He saw Jesus, fell face down, and begged him, ‘Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.’
13 Reaching out his hand, Jesus touched him,(L) saying, ‘I am willing; be made clean,’ and immediately the leprosy left him. 14 Then he ordered him to tell no one:(M) ‘But go and show yourself to the priest, and offer what Moses commanded for your cleansing as a testimony to them.’
15 But the news[e] about him spread even more, and large crowds would come together to hear him and to be healed of their sicknesses. 16 Yet he often withdrew to deserted places and prayed.(N)
The Son of Man Forgives and Heals
17 On one of those days while he was teaching, Pharisees and teachers of the law(O) were sitting there who had come from every village of Galilee and Judea, and also from Jerusalem. And the Lord’s power to heal was in him.(P) 18 Just then some men came,(Q) carrying on a stretcher a man who was paralysed. They tried to bring him in and set him down before him. 19 Since they could not find a way to bring him in because of the crowd, they went up on the roof and lowered him on the stretcher through the roof tiles into the middle of the crowd before Jesus.
20 Seeing their faith he said, ‘Friend,[f] your sins are forgiven.’
21 Then the scribes and the Pharisees(R) began to think to themselves, ‘Who is this man who speaks blasphemies? Who can forgive sins but God alone? ’(S)
22 But perceiving their thoughts, Jesus replied to them, ‘Why are you thinking this in your hearts?[g] 23 Which is easier: to say, “Your sins are forgiven,” or to say, “Get up and walk”? 24 But so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins’ – he told the paralysed man, ‘I tell you: Get up, take your stretcher, and go home.’
25 Immediately he got up before them, picked up what he had been lying on, and went home glorifying God.(T) 26 Then everyone was astounded, and they were giving glory to God. And they were filled with awe(U) and said, ‘We have seen incredible things today.’
The Call of Levi
27 After this, Jesus went out and saw a tax collector named Levi sitting at the tax office,(V) and he said to him, ‘Follow me.’ 28 So, leaving everything behind, he got up and began to follow him.
29 Then Levi hosted a grand banquet for him at his house. Now there was a large crowd of tax collectors and others who were reclining at the table with them.(W) 30 But the Pharisees and their scribes(X) were complaining to his disciples, ‘Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners? ’
31 Jesus replied to them, ‘It is not those who are healthy who need a doctor, but those who are ill. 32 I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.’
A Question about Fasting
33 Then they said to him, ‘John’s disciples fast often and say prayers, and those of the Pharisees do the same, but yours eat and drink.’
34 Jesus said to them, ‘You can’t make the wedding guests fast while the groom is with them, can you? 35 But the time[h] will come(Y) when the groom will be taken away from them – then they will fast in those days.’
36 He also told them a parable: ‘No one tears a patch from a new garment and puts it on an old garment. Otherwise, not only will he tear the new, but also the piece from the new garment will not match the old. 37 And no one puts new wine into old wineskins. Otherwise, the new wine will burst the skins, it will spill, and the skins will be ruined. 38 No, new wine is put into fresh wineskins.[i] 39 And no one, after drinking old wine, wants new, because he says, “The old is better.” ’[j]
