34 耶穌對他們說：「新郎與賓客[a]在一起的時候，難道你們能叫賓客禁食嗎？ 35 可是日子將要來到：當新郎從他們中間被帶走的時候，他們那時——在那些日子裡就要禁食了。」
36 耶穌又對他們講了一個比喻：「沒有人從新衣服上撕下一塊布來縫在舊衣服上，否則，他不但撕破了新衣服，而且來自新衣服的那塊布與舊衣服不相稱。

34 Jesus answered, “Can you make the friends of the bridegroom(A) fast while he is with them? 35 But the time will come when the bridegroom will be taken from them;(B) in those days they will fast.”
36 He told them this parable: “No one tears a piece out of a new garment to patch an old one. Otherwise, they will have torn the new garment, and the patch from the new will not match the old.
