将耶稣解交彼拉多

23 众人都起来，把耶稣解到彼拉多面前， 2 就告他说：“我们见这人诱惑国民，禁止纳税给恺撒，并说自己是基督，是王。” 3 彼拉多问耶稣说：“你是犹太人的王吗？”耶稣回答说：“你说的是。” 4 彼拉多对祭司长和众人说：“我查不出这人有什么罪来。” 5 但他们越发极力地说：“他煽惑百姓，在犹太遍地传道，从加利利起直到这里了。” 6 彼拉多一听见，就问：“这人是加利利人吗？” 7 既晓得耶稣属希律所管，就把他送到希律那里去。那时希律正在耶路撒冷。

耶稣在希律前被藐视

8 希律看见耶稣，就很欢喜，因为听见过他的事，久已想要见他，并且指望看他行一件神迹。 9 于是问他许多的话，耶稣却一言不答。 10 祭司长和文士都站着，极力地告他。 11 希律和他的兵丁就藐视耶稣，戏弄他，给他穿上华丽衣服，把他送回彼拉多那里去。 12 从前希律和彼拉多彼此有仇，在那一天就成了朋友。

在彼拉多前受审

13 彼拉多传齐了祭司长和官府并百姓， 14 就对他们说：“你们解这人到我这里，说他是诱惑百姓的。看哪，我也曾将你们告他的事在你们面前审问他，并没有查出他什么罪来。 15 就是希律也是如此，所以把他送回来。可见他没有做什么该死的事。 16 故此，我要责打他，把他释放了。”[a]

除掉耶稣释放巴拉巴

18 众人却一齐喊着说：“除掉这个人！释放巴拉巴给我们！” 19 这巴拉巴是因在城里作乱杀人，下在监里的。 20 彼拉多愿意释放耶稣，就又劝解他们。 21 无奈他们喊着说：“钉他十字架！钉他十字架！” 22 彼拉多第三次对他们说：“为什么呢？这人做了什么恶事呢？我并没有查出他什么该死的罪来。所以，我要责打他，把他释放了。” 23 他们大声催逼彼拉多，求他把耶稣钉在十字架上，他们的声音就得了胜。 24 彼拉多这才照他们所求的定案， 25 把他们所求的那作乱杀人下在监里的释放了，把耶稣交给他们，任凭他们的意思行。

26 带耶稣去的时候，有一个古利奈人西门从乡下来，他们就抓住他，把十字架搁在他身上，叫他背着跟随耶稣。

许多人为耶稣号啕痛哭

27 有许多百姓跟随耶稣，内中有好些妇女，妇女们为他号啕痛哭。 28 耶稣转身对她们说：“耶路撒冷的女子，不要为我哭，当为自己和自己的儿女哭。 29 因为日子要到，人必说：‘不生育的和未曾怀胎的、未曾乳养婴孩的有福了！’ 30 那时，人要向大山说‘倒在我们身上！’，向小山说‘遮盖我们！’。 31 这些事既行在有汁水的树上，那枯干的树将来怎么样呢？”

32 又有两个犯人，和耶稣一同带来处死。

耶稣被钉十字架

33 到了一个地方，名叫髑髅地，就在那里把耶稣钉在十字架上，又钉了两个犯人，一个在左边，一个在右边。 34 当下耶稣说：“父啊，赦免他们！因为他们所做的他们不晓得。”兵丁就拈阄分他的衣服。 35 百姓站在那里观看。官府也嗤笑他，说：“他救了别人，他若是基督，神所拣选的，可以救自己吧！” 36 兵丁也戏弄他，上前拿醋送给他喝， 37 说：“你若是犹太人的王，可以救自己吧！” 38 在耶稣以上有一个牌子[b]，写着：“这是犹太人的王。”

犯人求主记念

39 那同钉的两个犯人，有一个讥诮他说：“你不是基督吗？可以救自己和我们吧！” 40 那一个就应声责备他说：“你既是一样受刑的，还不怕神吗？ 41 我们是应该的，因我们所受的与我们所做的相称，但这个人没有做过一件不好的事。” 42 就说：“耶稣啊，你得国降临的时候，求你记念我！” 43 耶稣对他说：“我实在告诉你：今日你要同我在乐园里了！”

耶稣死的景象

44 那时约有午正，遍地都黑暗了，直到申初， 45 日头变黑了，殿里的幔子从当中裂为两半。 46 耶稣大声喊着说：“父啊，我将我的灵魂交在你手里！”说了这话，气就断了。 47 百夫长看见所成的事，就归荣耀于神，说：“这真是个义人！” 48 聚集观看的众人见了这所成的事，都捶着胸回去了。 49 还有一切与耶稣熟识的人和从加利利跟着他来的妇女们，都远远地站着看这些事。

安放在新坟墓里

50 有一个人名叫约瑟，是个议士，为人善良公义， 51 众人所谋所为他并没有附从；他本是犹太亚利马太城里素常盼望神国的人。 52 这人去见彼拉多，求耶稣的身体。 53 就取下来，用细麻布裹好，安放在石头凿成的坟墓里，那里头从来没有葬过人。 54 那日是预备日，安息日也快到了。 55 那些从加利利和耶稣同来的妇女跟在后面，看见了坟墓和他的身体怎样安放。 56 她们就回去，预备了香料香膏。

她们在安息日便遵着诫命安息了。

23 Así que la asamblea en pleno se levantó y lo llevaron a Pilato. 2 Y comenzaron la acusación con estas palabras:

—Hemos descubierto a este hombre agitando a nuestra nación. Se opone al pago de impuestos al césar y afirma que él es el Cristo, un rey.

3 Así que Pilato preguntó a Jesús:

—¿Eres tú el rey de los judíos?

—Tú mismo lo dices —respondió.

4 Entonces Pilato declaró a los jefes de los sacerdotes y a la multitud:

—No encuentro que este hombre sea culpable de nada.

5 Pero ellos insistían:

—Con sus enseñanzas agita al pueblo por toda Judea.[a] Comenzó en Galilea y ha llegado hasta aquí.

6 Al oír esto, Pilato preguntó si el hombre era galileo. 7 Cuando se enteró de que pertenecía a la jurisdicción de Herodes, se lo mandó a él, ya que en aquellos días también Herodes estaba en Jerusalén.

19 A Barrabás lo habían metido en la cárcel por una rebelión en la ciudad y por homicidio. 20 Pilato, como quería soltar a Jesús, apeló al pueblo otra vez, 21 pero ellos se pusieron a gritar:

—¡Crucifícalo! ¡Crucifícalo!

22 Por tercera vez les habló:

—Pero ¿qué crimen ha cometido este hombre? No encuentro que él sea culpable de nada que merezca la pena de muerte, así que le daré una paliza y después lo soltaré.

23 Pero a voz en cuello ellos siguieron insistiendo en que lo crucificara y con sus gritos se impusieron. 24 Por fin Pilato decidió concederles su demanda: 25 soltó al hombre que le pedían, el que por insurrección y homicidio había sido echado en la cárcel, y dejó que hicieran con Jesús lo que quisieran.

La crucifixión(A)

26 Cuando se lo llevaban, echaron mano de un tal Simón de Cirene, que volvía del campo, y le dieron la cruz para que la cargara detrás de Jesús. 27 Lo seguía mucha gente del pueblo, incluso mujeres que se golpeaban el pecho, lamentándose por él. 28 Jesús se volvió hacia ellas y les dijo:

—Hijas de Jerusalén, no lloren por mí; lloren más bien por ustedes y por sus hijos. 29 Miren, va a llegar el tiempo en que se dirá: “¡Dichosas las estériles, que nunca dieron a luz ni amamantaron!”. 30 Entonces

»“dirán a las montañas: ‘¡Caigan sobre nosotros!’,
    y a las colinas: ‘¡Cúbrannos!’ ”[c]

31 »Porque, si esto se hace cuando el árbol está verde, ¿qué no sucederá cuando esté seco?

32 También llevaban con él a otros dos, ambos criminales, para ser ejecutados. 33 Cuando llegaron al lugar llamado la Calavera, lo crucificaron allí, junto con los criminales, uno a su derecha y otro a su izquierda.

34 —Padre —dijo Jesús—, perdónalos, porque no saben lo que hacen.[d]

Mientras tanto, echaban suertes para repartirse entre sí la ropa de Jesús.

35 La gente, por su parte, se quedó allí observando, y aun los gobernantes estaban burlándose de él.

—Salvó a otros —decían—; que se salve a sí mismo si es el Cristo de Dios, el Escogido.

36 También los soldados se acercaron para burlarse de él. Le ofrecieron vinagre 37 y dijeron:

—Si eres el rey de los judíos, ¡sálvate a ti mismo!

38 Resulta que había sobre él un letrero que decía:

este es el rey de los judíos.

39 Uno de los criminales allí colgados empezó a insultarlo:

—¿No eres tú el Cristo? ¡Sálvate a ti mismo y a nosotros!

40 Pero el otro criminal lo reprendió:

—¿Ni siquiera temor de Dios tienes, aunque sufres la misma condena? 41 En nuestro caso, el castigo es justo, pues sufrimos lo que merecen nuestros delitos; este, en cambio, no ha hecho nada malo.

42 Luego dijo:

—Jesús, acuérdate de mí cuando vengas en tu reino.

43 —Te aseguro que hoy estarás conmigo en el paraíso —le contestó Jesús.

Muerte de Jesús(B)

44 Desde el mediodía y hasta las tres de la tarde[e] toda la tierra quedó en oscuridad, 45 pues el sol se ocultó. Y la cortina del santuario del Templo se rasgó por la mitad. 46 Entonces Jesús exclamó con fuerza:

—¡Padre, en tus manos encomiendo mi espíritu!

Y al decir esto, expiró.

47 El centurión, al ver lo que había sucedido, alabó a Dios y dijo:

—¡Verdaderamente este hombre era justo!

48 Entonces los que se habían reunido para presenciar aquel espectáculo, al ver lo ocurrido, se fueron de allí golpeándose el pecho. 49 Pero todos los conocidos de Jesús, incluso las mujeres que lo habían seguido desde Galilea, se quedaron mirando desde lejos.

Sepultura de Jesús(C)

50 Había un hombre bueno y justo llamado José, miembro del Consejo, 51 que no había estado de acuerdo con la decisión ni con la conducta de ellos. Era natural de un pueblo de Judea, llamado Arimatea, y esperaba el reino de Dios. 52 Este se presentó ante Pilato y pidió el cuerpo de Jesús. 53 Después de bajarlo, lo envolvió en una sábana de tela de lino y lo puso en un sepulcro cavado en la roca, en el que todavía no se había sepultado a nadie. 54 Era el día de preparación para el sábado, que estaba a punto de comenzar.

55 Las mujeres que habían acompañado a Jesús desde Galilea siguieron a José para ver el sepulcro y cómo colocaban el cuerpo. 56 Luego volvieron a casa y prepararon especias aromáticas y perfumes. Entonces descansaron el sábado, conforme al mandamiento.

Jesus Faces Pilate

23 Then(A) their whole assembly rose up and brought Him before Pilate. 2 They began to accuse Him, saying, “We found this man subverting our nation, opposing payment of taxes(B) to Caesar, and saying that He Himself is the Messiah, a King.”

3 So Pilate asked Him,(C) “Are You the King of the Jews?”(D)

He answered him, “You have said it.”[a]

4 Pilate then told the chief priests and the crowds, “I find no grounds(E) for charging this man.”

5 But they kept insisting, “He stirs up the people,(F) teaching throughout all Judea, from Galilee(G) where He started even to here.”

Jesus Faces Herod Antipas

6 When Pilate(H) heard this,[b] he asked if the man was a Galilean. 7 Finding that He was under Herod’s jurisdiction, he sent Him to Herod,(I) who was also in Jerusalem during those days. 8 Herod was very glad to see Jesus; for a long time he had wanted to see Him because he had heard about Him and was hoping to see some miracle[c] performed by Him. 9 So he kept asking Him questions, but Jesus did not answer him.(J) 10 The chief priests and the scribes stood by, vehemently accusing Him. 11 Then Herod, with his soldiers, treated Him with contempt, mocked(K) Him, dressed Him in a brilliant robe,(L) and sent Him back to Pilate. 12 That very day Herod and Pilate became friends.[d](M) Previously, they had been hostile toward each other.

Jesus or Barabbas

13 Pilate called together the chief priests, the leaders, and the people,(N) 14 and said to them, “You have brought me this man as one who subverts the people.(O) But in fact, after examining Him in your presence, I have found no grounds(P) to charge this man with those things you accuse Him of. 15 Neither has Herod, because he sent Him back to us. Clearly, He has done nothing to deserve death. 16 Therefore, I will have Him whipped[e](Q) and then release Him.” [17 For according to the festival he had to release someone to them.][f](R)

18 Then(S) they all cried out together, “Take this man away!(T) Release Barabbas to us!” 19 (He had been thrown into prison for a rebellion that had taken place in the city, and for murder.)

20 Pilate, wanting to release Jesus,(U) addressed them again, 21 but they kept shouting, “Crucify! Crucify Him!”

22 A third time he said to them, “Why? What has this man done wrong?(V) I have found in Him no grounds(W) for the death penalty. Therefore, I will have Him whipped and then release Him.”

23 But they kept up the pressure, demanding with loud voices that He be crucified. And their voices[g] won out. 24 So(X) Pilate decided to grant their demand(Y) 25 and released the one they were asking for, who had been thrown into prison for rebellion and murder. But he handed Jesus over to their will.(Z)

The Way to the Cross

26 As(AA) they led Him away, they seized Simon, a Cyrenian,(AB) who was coming in from the country, and laid the cross(AC) on him to carry behind Jesus. 27 A large crowd of people followed Him, including women who were mourning and lamenting Him.(AD) 28 But turning to them, Jesus said, “Daughters of Jerusalem,(AE) do not weep for Me, but weep for yourselves and your children. 29 Look, the days are coming(AF) when they will say, ‘The women without children, the wombs that never bore and the breasts that never nursed, are fortunate!’(AG) 30 Then they will begin to say to the mountains, ‘Fall on us!’ and to the hills, ‘Cover us!’(AH)[h] 31 For if they do these things when the wood is green, what will happen when it is dry?”(AI)

Crucified between Two Criminals

32 Two others—criminals(AJ)—were also led away to be executed with Him. 33 When(AK) they arrived at the place called The Skull, they crucified Him there, along with the criminals, one on the right and one on the left. [34 Then Jesus said, “Father,(AL) forgive(AM) them, because they do not know what they are doing.”(AN)][i] And they divided His clothes and cast lots.(AO)

35 The(AP) people stood watching, and even the leaders kept scoffing:(AQ) “He saved others; let Him save Himself if this is God’s Messiah, the Chosen One!”(AR) 36 The soldiers also mocked Him. They came offering Him sour wine(AS) 37 and said, “If You are the King of the Jews,(AT) save Yourself!”

38 An inscription was above Him:[j]

THIS IS

THE KING OF THE JEWS.

39 Then(AU) one of the criminals hanging there began to yell insults at[k] Him: “Aren’t You the Messiah? Save Yourself and us!”

40 But the other answered, rebuking him: “Don’t you even fear God,(AV) since you are undergoing the same punishment? 41 We are punished justly, because we’re getting back what we deserve for the things we did, but this man has done nothing wrong.”(AW) 42 Then he said, “Jesus, remember me[l](AX) when You come into Your kingdom!”(AY)

43 And He said to him, “I assure you: Today you will be with Me in paradise.”(AZ)

The Death of Jesus

44 It(BA) was now about noon,[m] and darkness came over the whole land[n] until three,[o] 45 because the sun’s light failed.[p] The curtain(BB) of the sanctuary was split down the middle. 46 And Jesus called out with a loud voice, “Father, into Your hands I entrust My spirit.”(BC)[q] Saying this, He breathed His last.

47 When the centurion saw what happened, he began to glorify(BD) God, saying, “This man really was righteous!” 48 All the crowds that had gathered for this spectacle, when they saw what had taken place, went home, striking their chests.[r](BE) 49 But(BF) all who knew Him, including the women who had followed Him from Galilee, stood at a distance,(BG) watching these things.

The Burial of Jesus

50 There(BH) was a good and righteous man named Joseph, a member of the Sanhedrin, 51 who had not agreed with their plan(BI) and action. He was from Arimathea, a Judean town, and was looking forward to the kingdom of God.(BJ) 52 He approached Pilate and asked for Jesus’ body. 53 Taking it down, he wrapped it in fine linen and placed it in a tomb cut into the rock, where no one had ever been placed.[s](BK) 54 It was preparation day, and the Sabbath was about to begin.[t] 55 The women(BL) who had come with Him from Galilee followed along and observed the tomb and how His body was placed. 56 Then they returned and prepared spices and perfumes.(BM) And they rested on the Sabbath according to the commandment.(BN)

23 Then the whole assembly rose and led him off to Pilate.(A) 2 And they began to accuse him, saying, “We have found this man subverting our nation.(B) He opposes payment of taxes to Caesar(C) and claims to be Messiah, a king.”(D)

3 So Pilate asked Jesus, “Are you the king of the Jews?”

“You have said so,” Jesus replied.

4 Then Pilate announced to the chief priests and the crowd, “I find no basis for a charge against this man.”(E)

5 But they insisted, “He stirs up the people all over Judea by his teaching. He started in Galilee(F) and has come all the way here.”

6 On hearing this, Pilate asked if the man was a Galilean.(G) 7 When he learned that Jesus was under Herod’s jurisdiction, he sent him to Herod,(H) who was also in Jerusalem at that time.

8 When Herod saw Jesus, he was greatly pleased, because for a long time he had been wanting to see him.(I) From what he had heard about him, he hoped to see him perform a sign of some sort. 9 He plied him with many questions, but Jesus gave him no answer.(J) 10 The chief priests and the teachers of the law were standing there, vehemently accusing him. 11 Then Herod and his soldiers ridiculed and mocked him. Dressing him in an elegant robe,(K) they sent him back to Pilate. 12 That day Herod and Pilate became friends(L)—before this they had been enemies.

13 Pilate called together the chief priests, the rulers and the people, 14 and said to them, “You brought me this man as one who was inciting the people to rebellion. I have examined him in your presence and have found no basis for your charges against him.(M) 15 Neither has Herod, for he sent him back to us; as you can see, he has done nothing to deserve death. 16 Therefore, I will punish him(N) and then release him.” [17] [a]

18 But the whole crowd shouted, “Away with this man! Release Barabbas to us!”(O) 19 (Barabbas had been thrown into prison for an insurrection in the city, and for murder.)

20 Wanting to release Jesus, Pilate appealed to them again. 21 But they kept shouting, “Crucify him! Crucify him!”

22 For the third time he spoke to them: “Why? What crime has this man committed? I have found in him no grounds for the death penalty. Therefore I will have him punished and then release him.”(P)

23 But with loud shouts they insistently demanded that he be crucified, and their shouts prevailed. 24 So Pilate decided to grant their demand. 25 He released the man who had been thrown into prison for insurrection and murder, the one they asked for, and surrendered Jesus to their will.

The Crucifixion of Jesus(Q)

26 As the soldiers led him away, they seized Simon from Cyrene,(R) who was on his way in from the country, and put the cross on him and made him carry it behind Jesus.(S) 27 A large number of people followed him, including women who mourned and wailed(T) for him. 28 Jesus turned and said to them, “Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me; weep for yourselves and for your children.(U) 29 For the time will come when you will say, ‘Blessed are the childless women, the wombs that never bore and the breasts that never nursed!’(V) 30 Then

42 Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.[d]”(AK)

43 Jesus answered him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.”(AL)

The Death of Jesus(AM)

44 It was now about noon, and darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon,(AN) 45 for the sun stopped shining. And the curtain of the temple(AO) was torn in two.(AP) 46 Jesus called out with a loud voice,(AQ) “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.”[e](AR) When he had said this, he breathed his last.(AS)

47 The centurion, seeing what had happened, praised God(AT) and said, “Surely this was a righteous man.” 48 When all the people who had gathered to witness this sight saw what took place, they beat their breasts(AU) and went away. 49 But all those who knew him, including the women who had followed him from Galilee,(AV) stood at a distance,(AW) watching these things.

The Burial of Jesus(AX)

50 Now there was a man named Joseph, a member of the Council, a good and upright man, 51 who had not consented to their decision and action. He came from the Judean town of Arimathea, and he himself was waiting for the kingdom of God.(AY) 52 Going to Pilate, he asked for Jesus’ body. 53 Then he took it down, wrapped it in linen cloth and placed it in a tomb cut in the rock, one in which no one had yet been laid. 54 It was Preparation Day,(AZ) and the Sabbath was about to begin.

55 The women who had come with Jesus from Galilee(BA) followed Joseph and saw the tomb and how his body was laid in it. 56 Then they went home and prepared spices and perfumes.(BB) But they rested on the Sabbath in obedience to the commandment.(BC)
