阴谋杀害耶稣
22 除酵节——又叫逾越节——快到了。 2 祭司长们和经文士们在图谋怎样能杀掉耶稣，因为他们怕民众。
3 那时，撒旦进入了那称为加略人的犹大里面。犹大算是十二使徒[a]中的一个。 4 他去跟祭司长们和守卫长们[b]商量怎样把耶稣交给他们。 5 他们就欢喜，并且说好要给他银钱。 6 犹大同意了，就开始找机会，要趁众人不在的时候，把耶稣交给他们。
预备逾越节的晚餐
7 除酵节的第一日到了，在这一天必须宰杀逾越节的羔羊。 8 耶稣差派彼得和约翰，说：“你们去为我们预备逾越节的晚餐，好让我们能吃上。”
9 他们问耶稣：“你要我们在哪里预备呢？”
10 耶稣对他们说：“看哪！你们进了城，会有一个人提着一罐水迎面而来，你们就跟着他，到他所进的那一家去， 11 对那家的主人说：‘老师问你：我与我的门徒们一起吃逾越节晚餐的客房在哪里呢？’ 12 他会给你们看楼上一间布置好的大房间，你们就在那里预备吧。”
13 他们去了，看到的正如耶稣对他们所说的。他们就预备了逾越节的晚餐。
第一次圣餐
14 时候一到，耶稣就坐席，十二[c]使徒也和他同坐。 15 耶稣对他们说：“我一直非常渴望在我受难之前，与你们一起吃这逾越节的晚餐。 16 我告诉你们：我绝不[d]吃这晚餐，直等到逾越节在神的国里得以成就。” 17 耶稣拿起杯来，祝谢了，说：“你们拿这个，大家分着喝。 18 我告诉你们：从今以后[e]我绝不喝这葡萄汁[f]，直到神的国来临。”
19 他又拿起饼来，祝谢了，掰开递给他们，说：“这是我的身体，为你们献上的；你们应当如此行，为的是记念我。”
20 晚餐后，他也照样拿起杯来，说：“这杯是用我的血所立的新约，为你们所流的。[g] 21 不过看哪，那卖我之人的手，与我的手一同在这桌子上， 22 因为人子确实要按照所决定的离去。不过出卖人子的那个人有祸了。”
23 于是他们开始彼此议论，他们当中究竟是谁会做这事。
争论谁最大
24 门徒之间也起了争论：他们当中谁算是更大的。 25 耶稣对他们说：“外邦人有君王辖制他们，他们的掌权者被称为恩主。 26 但你们却不是这样；相反，你们当中谁更大，谁就该变得像年幼的那样；领头的，该像服事人的。 27 坐席的或服事的，到底哪一个更大呢？难道不是坐席的吗？然而我在你们中间，是像服事人的。 28 不过我在试炼当中，始终与我在一起的就是你们； 29 并且我把国度赐给你们，就像我父赐给了我那样， 30 使你们在我的国度里，在我的筵席上吃喝；并且坐在宝座上审判以色列的十二个支派。”
预言彼得不认主
31 主又说[h]：“西门，西门，你看，撒旦想要得着你们，要筛你们像筛麦子一样。 32 但是，我已经为你祈求，使你不失去信仰。所以当你回转过来的时候，要坚固你的弟兄们。”
33 可是彼得对耶稣说：“主啊，我预备好要与你一起去监狱、一起去死！”
34 耶稣却说：“彼得，我告诉你：今天鸡叫以前，你会三次否定认识我。”
钱包、行囊、刀
35 接着耶稣问他们：“我从前差派你们出去的时候，你们不带钱包、行囊、鞋子，你们缺少过什么没有？”
他们说：“没有。”
36 耶稣却对他们说：“但现在，有钱包的应当带着；同样，有行囊的也应当带着；没有刀的，应当卖掉自己的外衣去买一把。 37 我告诉你们：经上记着：‘他被列在不法之徒当中’[i]，这话必须在我身上成就，因为那有关我的事就要有个结局了。”
38 他们说：“主啊，你看，这里有两把刀。”
耶稣说：“实在够了。”
园中的祷告
39 耶稣出来，照他的习惯往橄榄山去，门徒们也跟着他。 40 到了那地方，耶稣对他们说：“你们要祷告，免得陷入试探。” 41 然后他抽出身，离他们约有扔一块石头的距离，跪下祷告， 42 说：“父啊，如果你愿意，请把这杯从我这里拿走吧！但不要成就我的意思，而要成就你的意思。”
43 有一位天使从天上向他显现，加添他的力量。 44 耶稣在极大的痛苦中，祷告更加恳切；他的汗珠变得像大血滴，落在地上。[j] 45 祷告完了，他起身到门徒那里，看见他们因为忧伤都睡着了， 46 就对他们说：“你们为什么睡觉呢？起来祷告，免得陷入试探。”
犹大亲吻的暗号
47 耶稣还在说话的时候，忽然来了一群人。十二使徒中的一个，就是那称为犹大的，走在他们前头。他靠近耶稣，要亲吻他。 48 耶稣对他说：“犹大，你用亲吻礼来出卖人子吗？”
49 耶稣周围的人看到要发生的事，就说：“主啊，我们要用刀砍吗？” 50 其中一个人向大祭司的奴仆砍去，削掉了他的右耳。

彼得不认主
54 他们抓住耶稣，把他带走，押到大祭司的家里。彼得远远地跟着。 55 他们在院子当中生了火，一起坐着。彼得也坐在他们中间。 56 有一个女仆看见彼得坐在火光中，就注视着他，说：“这个人也与他是一伙的。”
57 彼得却否认说：“你这个女人哪，我不认识他！”
58 过了一会儿，另一个人看见他，就说：“你也是与他们一伙的！”
彼得说：“你这个人哪，我不是！”
59 大约过了一个小时，又有一个人肯定地说：“这个人真的也是与他一伙的，因为他也是加利利人。”
60 彼得说：“你这个人哪，我不知道你在说什么！”他正说着的时候，鸡立时就叫了。 61 主转过身来注视彼得，彼得就想起主对他说过的话：“今天鸡叫以前，你会三次不认我。” 62 他就到外面去，痛哭起来。
被戏弄与鞭打
63 看守耶稣[k]的人戏弄他、殴打他， 64 又蒙住他的眼睛问他，[l]说：“你说预言吧！打你的是谁？” 65 他们还说了很多别的话辱骂他。
在议员面前受审
66 一到天亮，民间的长老议会，包括祭司长们和经文士们，就聚集在一起。他们把耶稣带到议会里， 67 说：“你如果是基督，就告诉我们吧。”
耶稣对他们说：“就算我告诉你们，你们也绝不会相信； 68 就算我问你们，你们也绝不会回答[m]。 69 但从今以后，人子要坐在全能神的右边。”
70 他们都说：“那么，你是神的儿子吗？”
耶稣对他们说：“是你们说的，我就是。”
71 他们说：“难道我们还需要什么证据吗？他亲口说的话，我们都亲耳听见了[n]。”

The Plot to Kill Jesus(A)
22 Now (B)the Feast of Unleavened Bread drew near, which is called Passover. 2 And (C)the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might kill Him, for they feared the people.
3 (D)Then Satan entered Judas, surnamed Iscariot, who was numbered among the (E)twelve. 4 So he went his way and conferred with the chief priests and captains, how he might betray Him to them. 5 And they were glad, and (F)agreed to give him money. 6 So he promised and sought opportunity to (G)betray Him to them in the absence of the multitude.
Jesus and His Disciples Prepare the Passover
7 (H)Then came the Day of Unleavened Bread, when the Passover must be [a]killed. 8 And He sent Peter and John, saying, “Go and prepare the Passover for us, that we may eat.”
9 So they said to Him, “Where do You want us to prepare?”
10 And He said to them, “Behold, when you have entered the city, a man will meet you carrying a pitcher of water; follow him into the house which he enters. 11 Then you shall say to the master of the house, ‘The Teacher says to you, “Where is the guest room where I may eat the Passover with My disciples?” ’ 12 Then he will show you a large, furnished upper room; there make ready.”
13 So they went and (I)found it just as He had said to them, and they prepared the Passover.
Jesus Institutes the Lord’s Supper
14 (J)When the hour had come, He sat down, and the [b]twelve apostles with Him. 15 Then He said to them, “With fervent desire I have desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer; 16 for I say to you, I will no longer eat of it (K)until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.”
17 Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, “Take this and divide it among yourselves; 18 for (L)I say to you, [c]I will not drink of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.”
19 (M)And He took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is My (N)body which is given for you; (O)do this in remembrance of Me.”
20 Likewise He also took the cup after supper, saying, (P)“This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is shed for you. 21 (Q)But behold, the hand of My betrayer is with Me on the table. 22 (R)And truly the Son of Man goes (S)as it has been determined, but woe to that man by whom He is betrayed!”
23 (T)Then they began to question among themselves, which of them it was who would do this thing.
The Disciples Argue About Greatness
24 (U)Now there was also a dispute among them, as to which of them should be considered the greatest. 25 (V)And He said to them, “The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them, and those who exercise authority over them are called ‘benefactors.’ 26 (W)But not so among you; on the contrary, (X)he who is greatest among you, let him be as the younger, and he who governs as he who serves. 27 (Y)For who is greater, he who sits at the table, or he who serves? Is it not he who sits at the table? Yet (Z)I am among you as the One who serves.
28 “But you are those who have continued with Me in (AA)My trials. 29 And (AB)I bestow upon you a kingdom, just as My Father bestowed one upon Me, 30 that (AC)you may eat and drink at My table in My kingdom, (AD)and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.”
Jesus Predicts Peter’s Denial(AE)
31 [d]And the Lord said, “Simon, Simon! Indeed, (AF)Satan has asked for you, that he may (AG)sift you as wheat. 32 But (AH)I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and when you have returned to Me, (AI)strengthen your brethren.”
33 But he said to Him, “Lord, I am ready to go with You, both to prison and to death.”
34 (AJ)Then He said, “I tell you, Peter, the rooster shall not crow this day before you will deny three times that you know Me.”
Supplies for the Road
35 (AK)And He said to them, “When I sent you without money bag, knapsack, and sandals, did you lack anything?”
So they said, “Nothing.”
36 Then He said to them, “But now, he who has a money bag, let him take it, and likewise a knapsack; and he who has no sword, let him sell his garment and buy one. 37 For I say to you that this which is written must still be [e]accomplished in Me: (AL)‘And He was numbered with the transgressors.’ For the things concerning Me have an end.”
38 So they said, “Lord, look, here are two swords.”
And He said to them, “It is enough.”
The Prayer in the Garden(AM)
39 (AN)Coming out, (AO)He went to the Mount of Olives, as He was accustomed, and His disciples also followed Him. 40 (AP)When He came to the place, He said to them, “Pray that you may not enter into temptation.”
41 (AQ)And He was withdrawn from them about a stone’s throw, and He knelt down and prayed, 42 saying, “Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless (AR)not My will, but Yours, be done.” 43 [f]Then (AS)an angel appeared to Him from heaven, strengthening Him. 44 (AT)And being in agony, He prayed more earnestly. Betrayal and Arrest in Gethsemane(AW)
47 And while He was still speaking, (AX)behold, a multitude; and he who was called (AY)Judas, one of the twelve, went before them and drew near to Jesus to kiss Him. 48 But Jesus said to him, “Judas, are you betraying the Son of Man with a (AZ)kiss?”
49 When those around Him saw what was going to happen, they said to Him, “Lord, shall we strike with the sword?” 50 And (BA)one of them struck the servant of the high priest and cut off his right ear.
51 But Jesus answered and said, “Permit even this.” And He touched his ear and healed him.
52 (BB)Then Jesus said to the chief priests, captains of the temple, and the elders who had come to Him, “Have you come out, as against a (BC)robber, with swords and clubs? 53 When I was with you daily in the (BD)temple, you did not try to seize Me. Peter Denies Jesus, and Weeps Bitterly(BF)
54 (BG)Having arrested Him, they led Him and brought Him into the high priest’s house. (BH)But Peter followed at a distance. 55 (BI)Now when they had kindled a fire in the midst of the courtyard and sat down together, Peter sat among them. 56 And a certain servant girl, seeing him as he sat by the fire, looked intently at him and said, “This man was also with Him.”
57 But he denied [g]Him, saying, “Woman, I do not know Him.”
58 (BJ)And after a little while another saw him and said, “You also are of them.”
But Peter said, “Man, I am not!”
59 (BK)Then after about an hour had passed, another confidently affirmed, saying, “Surely this fellow also was with Him, for he is a (BL)Galilean.”
60 But Peter said, “Man, I do not know what you are saying!”
Immediately, while he was still speaking, [h]the rooster crowed. 61 And the Lord turned and looked at Peter. Then (BM)Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how He had said to him, (BN)“Before the rooster [i]crows, you will deny Me three times.” 62 So Peter went out and wept bitterly.

The Last Supper
22 The time came for the Festival of Unleavened Bread, known as Passover. 2 The chief priests and the scribes looked for a way to assassinate Jesus, a difficult task because of the crowds.
3 The satan entered into Judas, whose surname was Iscariot, who was one of the company of the Twelve. 4 He went and held a meeting with the chief priests and officers, to discuss how he might hand Jesus over. 5 They were delighted, and promised to pay him. 6 He agreed, and started to look for an opportunity to hand him over to them when the crowds weren’t around.
7 The day of Unleavened Bread arrived, the day when people had to kill the Passover lamb. 8 Jesus dispatched Peter and John.
“Off you go,” he said, “and get the Passover ready for us to eat.”
9 “Where d’you want us to prepare it?” they asked him.
10 “Listen carefully,” said Jesus. “As you go into the city a man will meet you carrying a jar of water. Follow him, and when he goes into a house, go after him. 11 Then say to the householder there, ‘The teacher says, “Where is the living-room where I can eat the Passover with my disciples?” ’ 12 And he will show you a large upstairs room, laid out and ready. Make the preparations there.”
13 So they went and found it as he had said to them, and they prepared the Passover.
14 When the time came, Jesus sat down at table with the apostles.
15 “I have been so much looking forward to eating this Passover with you before I have to suffer,” he said to them. 16 “For—let me tell you—I won’t eat it again until it’s fulfilled in the kingdom of God.”
17 Then he took a cup, and gave thanks, and said, “Take this and share it among yourselves. 18 Let me tell you, from now on I won’t drink from the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.”
19 Then he took some bread. He gave thanks, broke it and gave it to them.
“This is my body,” he said, “which is given for you. Do this in memory of me.”
20 So too, after supper, with the cup: “This cup,” he said, “is the new covenant, in my blood which is shed for you.
21 “But look here! Someone here is going to betray me. His hand is with mine at this table. 22 The son of man is indeed going, as it is marked out for him; but woe betide that man by whom he is betrayed!”
23 They began to ask each other which of them was going to do this.
Prediction of Peter’s denial
24 A quarrel began among them: which of them would be seen as the most important?
25 “Pagan kings lord it over their subjects,” said Jesus to them, “and people in power get themselves called ‘Benefactors.’ 26 That’s not how it’s to be with you. The most important among you ought to be like the youngest. The leader should be like the servant. 27 After all, who is the more important, the one who sits at table or the one who waits on him? The one at table, obviously! But I am with you here like a servant.
28 “You are the ones who have stuck it out with me through the trials I’ve had to endure. 29 This is my bequest to you: the kingdom my father bequeathed to me! 30 What does this mean? You will eat and drink at my table, in my kingdom, and you will sit on thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
31 “Simon, Simon, listen to this. The satan demanded to have you. He wanted to shake you into bits like wheat. 32 But I prayed for you; I prayed that you wouldn’t run out of faith. And, when you turn back again, you must give strength to your brothers.”
33 “Master,” replied Simon, “I’m ready to go with you to prison—or to death!”
34 “Let me tell you, Peter,” replied Jesus, “before the cock crows today, you will three times deny that you know me.
35 “When I sent you out,” Jesus said to them, “without purse or bag or sandals, were you short of anything?”
“Nothing,” they replied.
36 “But now,” he said, “anyone who has a purse should take it, and the same with a bag. And anyone who doesn’t have a sword should sell his cloak and buy one. 37 Let me tell you this: when the Bible says, ‘He was reckoned with the lawless,’ it must find its fulfillment in me. Yes; everything about me must reach its goal.”
38 “Look, Master,” they said, “we’ve got a couple of swords here.”
“That’s enough!” he said to them.
Jesus is arrested
39 So off they went. Jesus headed, as usual, for the Mount of Olives, and his disciples followed him.
40 When he came to the place, he said to them, “Pray that you won’t come into the trial.”
41 He then withdrew from them about a stone’s throw, and knelt down to pray.
42 “Father,” he said, “if you wish it—please take this cup away from me! But it must be your will, not mine.” 43 An angel appeared to him from heaven, strengthening him. 44 By now he was in agony, and he prayed very fervently. And his sweat became like clots of blood, falling on the ground. 45 Then he got up from praying, and came to the disciples and found them asleep because of sorrow.
46 “Why are you sleeping?” he said to them. “Get up and pray, so that you won’t come into the trial.”
47 While he was still speaking, a crowd appeared. The man named Judas, one of the Twelve, was leading them. He approached Jesus to kiss him, 48 but Jesus said to him, “Judas! Are you going to betray the son of man with a kiss?”
49 Jesus’ followers saw what was about to happen.
“Master!” they said. “Shall we go in with the swords?” 50 And one of them struck the high priest’s servant, and cut off his right ear.
51 “Enough of that!” said Jesus, and healed the ear with a touch.
52 Then Jesus spoke to the arresting party—the chief priests, the Temple guards, and the elders.
“Anyone would think I was a brigand,” he said, “seeing you coming out like this with swords and clubs! 53 Every day I’ve been in the Temple with you and you never laid hands on me. But your moment has come at last, and so has the power of darkness.”
Peter denies Jesus
54 So they arrested Jesus, took him off, and brought him into the high priest’s house. Peter followed at a distance. 55 They lit a fire in the middle of the courtyard and sat around it, and Peter sat in among them.
56 A servant-girl saw him sitting by the fire. She stared hard at him. “This fellow was with him!” she said.
57 Peter denied it. “I don’t know him, woman,” he said.
58 After a little while another man saw him and said, “You’re one of them!”
“No, my friend, I’m not,” replied Peter.
59 After the space of about an hour, another man insisted, “It’s true! This man was with him; he’s a Galilean too!”
60 “My good fellow,” said Peter, “I don’t know what you’re talking about.” And at once, while he was still speaking, the cock crowed. 61 The master turned and looked at Peter, and Peter called to mind the words the master had spoken to him: “Before the cock crows, this very day, you will deny me three times.” 62 And he went outside and wept bitterly.
63 The men who were holding Jesus began to make fun of him and knock him about. 64 They blindfolded him.
“Prophesy!” they told him. “Who is it that’s hitting you?”
65 And they said many other scandalous things to him.
66 When the day broke, the official assembly of the people, the chief priests and the scribes came together, and they took him off to their council.
67 “If you are the Messiah,” they said, “tell us!”
“If I tell you,” he said to them, “you won’t believe me. 68 And if I ask you a question, you won’t answer me. 69 But from now on the son of man will be seated at the right hand of God’s power.”
70 “So you’re the son of God, are you?” they said.
“You say that I am,” he said to them.
71 “Why do we need any more witnesses?” they said. “We’ve heard it ourselves, from his own mouth!”
