14 安息日,耶穌到一個法利賽人的首領家裡去吃飯,他們就窺探他。 2 在他面前有一個患水臌的人。 3 耶穌對律法師和法利賽人說:「安息日治病可以不可以?」 4 他們卻不言語。耶穌就治好那人,叫他走了。 5 便對他們說:「你們中間誰有驢或有牛在安息日掉在井裡,不立時拉牠上來呢?」 6 他們不能對答這話。
教訓為客的
7 耶穌見所請的客揀擇首位,就用比喻對他們說: 8 「你被人請去赴婚姻的筵席,不要坐在首位上,恐怕有比你尊貴的客被他請來, 9 那請你們的人前來對你說:『讓座給這一位吧!』你就羞羞慚慚地退到末位上去了。 10 你被請的時候,就去坐在末位上,好叫那請你的人來對你說:『朋友,請上坐!』那時,你在同席的人面前就有光彩了。 11 因為凡自高的,必降為卑;自卑的,必升為高。」
教訓為主的
12 耶穌又對請他的人說:「你擺設午飯或晚飯,不要請你的朋友、弟兄、親屬和富足的鄰舍,恐怕他們也請你,你就得了報答。 13 你擺設筵席,倒要請那貧窮的、殘廢的、瘸腿的、瞎眼的,你就有福了! 14 因為他們沒有什麼可報答你。到義人復活的時候,你要得著報答。」
藐視救恩
15 同席的有一人聽見這話,就對耶穌說:「在神國裡吃飯的有福了!」 16 耶穌對他說:「有一人擺設大筵席,請了許多客。 17 到了坐席的時候,打發僕人去對所請的人說:『請來吧,樣樣都齊備了。』 18 眾人一口同音地推辭。頭一個說:『我買了一塊地,必須去看看。請你准我辭了。』 19 又有一個說:『我買了五對牛,要去試一試。請你准我辭了。』 20 又有一個說:『我才娶了妻,所以不能去。』 21 那僕人回來,把這事都告訴了主人。家主就動怒,對僕人說:『快出去到城裡大街小巷,領那貧窮的、殘廢的、瞎眼的、瘸腿的來。』 22 僕人說:『主啊,你所吩咐的已經辦了,還有空座。』 23 主人對僕人說:『你出去到路上和籬笆那裡,勉強人進來,坐滿我的屋子。 24 我告訴你們:先前所請的人,沒有一個得嘗我的筵席!』」
當背十架跟從主
25 有極多的人和耶穌同行。他轉過來對他們說: 26 「人到我這裡來,若不愛我勝過愛[a]自己的父母、妻子、兒女、弟兄、姐妹和自己的性命,就不能做我的門徒。 27 凡不背著自己十字架跟從我的,也不能做我的門徒。 28 你們哪一個要蓋一座樓,不先坐下算計花費,能蓋成不能呢? 29 恐怕安了地基,不能成功,看見的人都笑話他, 30 說:『這個人開了工,卻不能完工!』 31 或是一個王出去和別的王打仗,豈不先坐下酌量,能用一萬兵去敵那領二萬兵來攻打他的嗎? 32 若是不能,就趁敵人還遠的時候,派使者去求和息的條款。 33 這樣,你們無論什麼人,若不撇下一切所有的,就不能做我的門徒。 34 鹽本是好的,鹽若失了味,可用什麼叫它再鹹呢? 35 或用在田裡,或堆在糞裡,都不合適,只好丟在外面。有耳可聽的,就應當聽!」

A Man Suffering from Edema Healed
14 And it happened that when he came to the house of a certain one of the leaders of the Pharisees on a Sabbath to eat a meal,[a] they were watching him closely. 2 And behold, a certain man was in front of him, suffering from edema. 3 And Jesus answered and[b] said to the legal experts and Pharisees, saying, “Is it permitted to heal on the Sabbath, or not?” 4 But they remained silent. And he took hold of him[c] and[d] healed him, and sent him[e] away. 5 And he said to them, “Who among you, if your[f] son or your ox falls into a well[g] on the day of the Sabbath, will not immediately pull him out?” 6 And they were not able to make a reply to these things.
The Parable of the Guests at the Wedding Feast
7 Now he told a parable to those who had been invited when he[h] noticed how they were choosing for themselves the places of honor, saying to them, 8 “When you are invited by someone to a wedding feast,[i] do not recline at the table in the place of honor, lest someone more distinguished than you has been invited by him, 9 and the one who invited you both[j] will come and[k] say to you, ‘Give the place to this person,’ and then with shame you will begin to take the last place. 10 But when you are invited, go and[l] recline at the table in the last place, so that when the one who invited you comes, he will say to you, ‘Friend, move up higher.’ Then it will be an honor to you in the presence of all those who are reclining at the table with you. 11 For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and the one who humbles himself will be exalted.”
The Parable of the Great Banquet
12 And he also said to the one who had invited him, “When you give a dinner or a banquet, do not invite your friends or your brothers or your relatives or wealthy neighbors, lest they also invite you in return, and repayment come to you. 13 But whenever you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, 14 and you will be blessed, because they are not able to repay you. For it will be paid back to you at the resurrection of the righteous.”
15 Now when[m] one of those reclining at the table with him heard these things, he said to him, “Blessed is everyone who[n] will eat bread in the kingdom of God!” 16 But he said to him, “A certain man was giving a large banquet and invited many. 17 And he sent his slave at the hour of the banquet to say to those who have been invited, ‘Come, because now it is ready!’ 18 And they all alike[o] began to excuse themselves. The first said to him, ‘I have purchased a field, and I must[p] go out to look at it. I ask you, consider me excused.’ 19 And another said, ‘I have purchased five yoke of oxen, and I am going to examine them. I ask you, consider me excused.’ 20 And another said, ‘I have married a wife, and for this reason I am not able to come.’ 21 And the slave came and[q] reported these things to his master. Then the master of the house became angry and[r] said to his slave, ‘Go out quickly into the streets and alleys of the city and bring in here the poor and crippled and blind and lame!’ 22 And the slave said, ‘Sir, what you ordered has been done, and there is still room.’ 23 And the master said to the slave, ‘Go out into the highways and hedges and press them[s] to come in, so that my house will be filled! 24 For I say to you that none of those persons who were invited will taste my banquet!’”
The Cost of Discipleship
25 Now large crowds were going along with him, and he turned around and[t] said to them, 26 “If anyone comes to me and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, and furthermore, even his own life, he cannot be[u] my disciple. 27 Whoever does not carry his own cross and follow[v] me cannot be[w] my disciple. 28 For which of you, wanting to build a tower, does not first sit down and[x] calculate the cost to see if he has enough[y] to complete it?[z] 29 Otherwise[aa] after[ab] he has laid the foundation and is not able to finish it,[ac] all who see it[ad] will begin to ridicule him, 30 saying, ‘This man began to build and was not able to finish!’ 31 Or what king, going out to engage another king in battle, does not sit down first and[ae] deliberate whether he is able with ten thousand to oppose the one coming against him with twenty thousand. 32 But if not, while[af] the other is still far away, he sends an ambassador and[ag] asks for terms of[ah] peace. 33 In the same way, therefore, every one of you who does not renounce all his own possessions cannot be[ai] my disciple.
34 “Now salt is good, but if salt becomes tasteless, with what will it be made salty? 35 It is usable neither for the soil nor for the manure pile; they throw it out. The one who has ears to hear, let him hear!”

14 Un día Jesús fue a comer a casa de un fariseo prominente. Era sábado, así que estos estaban acechando a Jesús. 2 Allí, delante de él, estaba un hombre enfermo de hidropesía. 3 Jesús preguntó a los expertos en la Ley y a los fariseos:
—¿Está permitido o no sanar en sábado?
4 Pero ellos se quedaron callados. Entonces tomó al hombre, lo sanó y lo despidió.
5 También les dijo:
—Si uno de ustedes tiene un hijo[a] o un buey que se le cae en un pozo, ¿no lo saca enseguida, aunque sea sábado?
6 Y no pudieron contestarle nada.
7 Al notar cómo los invitados escogían los lugares de honor en la mesa, les contó esta parábola:
8 —Cuando alguien te invite a una fiesta de bodas, no te sientes en el lugar de honor, no sea que haya algún invitado más distinguido que tú. 9 Si es así, el que los invitó a los dos vendrá y te dirá: “Cédele tu asiento a este hombre”. Entonces, avergonzado, tendrás que ocupar el último asiento. 10 Más bien, cuando te inviten, siéntate en el último lugar, para que cuando venga el que te invitó, te diga: “Amigo, pasa más adelante a un lugar mejor”. Así recibirás honor en presencia de todos los demás invitados. 11 Porque todo el que a sí mismo se enaltece será humillado y el que se humilla será enaltecido.
12 También dijo Jesús al que lo había invitado:
—Cuando des una comida o una cena, no invites a tus amigos, ni a tus hermanos, ni a tus parientes, ni a tus vecinos ricos; no sea que ellos, a su vez, te inviten y así seas recompensado. 13 Más bien, cuando des un banquete, invita a los pobres, a los lisiados, a los cojos y a los ciegos. 14 Entonces serás dichoso pues, aunque ellos no tienen con qué recompensarte, serás recompensado en la resurrección de los justos.
Parábola del gran banquete
15 Al oír esto, uno de los que estaban sentados a la mesa con Jesús le dijo:
—¡Dichoso el que coma en el banquete del reino de Dios!
16 Jesús contestó:
—Cierto hombre preparó un gran banquete e invitó a muchas personas. 17 A la hora del banquete mandó a su siervo a decirles a los invitados: “Vengan, porque ya todo está listo”. 18 Pero todos, sin excepción, comenzaron a disculparse. El primero dijo: “Acabo de comprar un terreno y tengo que ir a verlo. Te ruego que me disculpes”. 19 Otro indicó: “Acabo de comprar cinco yuntas de bueyes y voy a probarlas. Te ruego que me disculpes”. 20 Y otro alegó: “Acabo de casarme y por eso no puedo ir”. 21 El siervo regresó y le informó de esto a su señor. Entonces el dueño de la casa se enojó y ordenó a su siervo: “Sal de prisa por las plazas y los callejones del pueblo y trae acá a los pobres, a los lisiados, a los ciegos y a los cojos”. 22 “Señor —dijo luego el siervo—, ya hice lo que usted me mandó, pero todavía hay lugar”. 23 Entonces el señor respondió: “Ve por los caminos y las veredas, y oblígalos a entrar para que se llene mi casa. 24 Les digo que ninguno de aquellos invitados disfrutará de mi banquete”.
El precio del discipulado
25 Grandes multitudes seguían a Jesús, y él se volvió y les dijo: 26 «Si alguno viene a mí y no sacrifica el amor[b] a su padre y a su madre, a su esposa y a sus hijos, a sus hermanos y a sus hermanas, y aun a su propia vida, no puede ser mi discípulo. 27 Y el que no carga su cruz y me sigue no puede ser mi discípulo.
28 »Supongamos que alguno de ustedes quiere construir una torre. ¿Acaso no se sienta primero a calcular el costo para ver si tiene suficiente dinero para terminarla? 29 Si echa los cimientos y no puede terminarla, todos los que la vean comenzarán a burlarse de él 30 y dirán: “Este hombre ya no pudo terminar lo que comenzó a construir”.
31 »O supongamos que un rey está a punto de ir a la guerra contra otro rey. ¿Acaso no se sienta primero a calcular si con diez mil hombres es posible enfrentarse al que viene contra él con veinte mil? 32 Si no puede, enviará una delegación mientras el otro está todavía lejos, para pedir condiciones de paz. 33 De la misma manera, cualquiera de ustedes que no renuncie a todos sus bienes no puede ser mi discípulo.
34 »La sal es buena, pero si la sal pierde su sabor, ¿cómo recuperará el sabor? 35 No sirve ni para la tierra ni para el abono; hay que tirarla fuera.
»El que tenga oídos para oír, que oiga».
