14 有個安息日，耶穌到一位法利賽人的首領家裡作客，人們密切地監視祂。 2 當時有一個患水腫病的人在耶穌面前， 3 耶穌問法利賽人和律法教師：「在安息日可以醫病嗎？」
4 他們都閉口不言。耶穌便扶著那人把他醫好，叫他走了， 5 然後又問他們：「如果你們有驢[a]或牛在安息日掉進井裡，難道你們不會立刻把牠拉上來嗎？」 6 他們都啞口無言。
論謙卑
7 耶穌在宴席中看見賓客們都爭著坐首位，就用比喻對他們說： 8 「參加婚宴的時候，不要坐在首位，因為或許有更尊貴的賓客來赴宴， 9 主人會把他帶到你面前，說，『請你把首位讓給他吧！』你就要滿面羞愧地退到末位去了。 10 你去赴宴時，應該先坐在末位，這樣主人會對你說，『朋友，請上坐！』那時，你在賓客面前就有光彩了。 11 因為自高的人必遭貶抑，謙卑的人必得尊榮。」
論待客之道
12 耶穌又對主人說：「擺設午宴、晚宴時，不要邀請你的朋友、弟兄、親戚或有錢的鄰居，免得他們回請你，你便得到報答了。 13 相反，你設宴時，要邀請貧窮的、殘疾的、瘸腿的、瞎眼的， 14 這樣你就有福了，因為他們都沒有能力回報你，到了義人復活那天，上帝一定會賞賜你。」
大宴席的比喻
15 同席的一個客人聽了這番話，就對耶穌說：「能夠在上帝的國坐席的人多麼有福啊！」
16 於是，耶穌對他說：「有一個人大擺宴席，邀請了許多客人。 17 要開席的時候，主人就派奴僕去對客人說，『一切都準備好了，來赴宴吧！』 18 可是，他們都找藉口推辭。頭一個說，『我剛買了一塊田，必須去看一看，請恕我不能參加。』 19 另一個說，『我新買了五對牛，要去試一試，請恕我不能參加。』 20 還有一個說，『我剛結了婚，所以不能去。』 21 奴僕回來將這些話告訴主人，主人非常生氣，於是對奴僕說，『快出去到城裡的大街小巷把貧窮的、殘疾的、瘸腿的、瞎眼的都請來。』 22 奴僕說，『主人啊，我照你的吩咐辦了，可是還有空位。』 23 主人又說，『出去到大路上、籬笆旁硬把人拉來，讓我家裡座無虛席。 24 我告訴你們，原來邀請的那些人沒有一個能嚐到我的宴席！』」
做門徒的代價
25 有一大群人跟著耶穌，祂轉身對他們說： 26 「若有人要跟從我，就要愛我勝過愛他的父母、妻子、兒女、弟兄、姊妹，甚至自己的生命，否則就不能作我的門徒。 27 若不背起自己的十字架跟從我，就不能作我的門徒。
28 「哪有人建樓房不事先坐下來計算成本，看能否建成？ 29 否則，打好了地基卻不能完工，徒惹別人嘲笑， 30 『這個人開了工，卻不能完工！』
31 「哪有王要跟另一個王打仗時，不先坐下來酌量一下自己的一萬人是否敵得過對方的兩萬人？ 32 如果自知不敵，一定趁敵人還遠的時候，就差使者去求和。
33 「同樣，你們若不撇下一切，就不能作我的門徒。 34 鹽本來是好的，但如果鹽失去了鹹味，怎能使它再變鹹呢？ 35 沒有味的鹽，既不利於土壤，也不適宜作肥料，只好丟掉。有耳可聽的，就應當聽。」

Jesus Heals on the Sabbath
14 One Sabbath day Jesus went to eat dinner in the home of a leader of the Pharisees, and the people were watching him closely. 2 There was a man there whose arms and legs were swollen.[a] 3 Jesus asked the Pharisees and experts in religious law, “Is it permitted in the law to heal people on the Sabbath day, or not?” 4 When they refused to answer, Jesus touched the sick man and healed him and sent him away. 5 Then he turned to them and said, “Which of you doesn’t work on the Sabbath? If your son[b] or your cow falls into a pit, don’t you rush to get him out?” 6 Again they could not answer.
Jesus Teaches about Humility
7 When Jesus noticed that all who had come to the dinner were trying to sit in the seats of honor near the head of the table, he gave them this advice: 8 “When you are invited to a wedding feast, don’t sit in the seat of honor. What if someone who is more distinguished than you has also been invited? 9 The host will come and say, ‘Give this person your seat.’ Then you will be embarrassed, and you will have to take whatever seat is left at the foot of the table!
10 “Instead, take the lowest place at the foot of the table. Then when your host sees you, he will come and say, ‘Friend, we have a better place for you!’ Then you will be honored in front of all the other guests. 11 For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”
12 Then he turned to his host. “When you put on a luncheon or a banquet,” he said, “don’t invite your friends, brothers, relatives, and rich neighbors. For they will invite you back, and that will be your only reward. 13 Instead, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, and the blind. 14 Then at the resurrection of the righteous, God will reward you for inviting those who could not repay you.”
Parable of the Great Feast
15 Hearing this, a man sitting at the table with Jesus exclaimed, “What a blessing it will be to attend a banquet[c] in the Kingdom of God!”
16 Jesus replied with this story: “A man prepared a great feast and sent out many invitations. 17 When the banquet was ready, he sent his servant to tell the guests, ‘Come, the banquet is ready.’ 18 But they all began making excuses. One said, ‘I have just bought a field and must inspect it. Please excuse me.’ 19 Another said, ‘I have just bought five pairs of oxen, and I want to try them out. Please excuse me.’ 20 Another said, ‘I just got married, so I can’t come.’
21 “The servant returned and told his master what they had said. His master was furious and said, ‘Go quickly into the streets and alleys of the town and invite the poor, the crippled, the blind, and the lame.’ 22 After the servant had done this, he reported, ‘There is still room for more.’ 23 So his master said, ‘Go out into the country lanes and behind the hedges and urge anyone you find to come, so that the house will be full. 24 For none of those I first invited will get even the smallest taste of my banquet.’”
The Cost of Being a Disciple
25 A large crowd was following Jesus. He turned around and said to them, 26 “If you want to be my disciple, you must, by comparison, hate everyone else—your father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters—yes, even your own life. Otherwise, you cannot be my disciple. 27 And if you do not carry your own cross and follow me, you cannot be my disciple.
28 “But don’t begin until you count the cost. For who would begin construction of a building without first calculating the cost to see if there is enough money to finish it? 29 Otherwise, you might complete only the foundation before running out of money, and then everyone would laugh at you. 30 They would say, ‘There’s the person who started that building and couldn’t afford to finish it!’
31 “Or what king would go to war against another king without first sitting down with his counselors to discuss whether his army of 10,000 could defeat the 20,000 soldiers marching against him? 32 And if he can’t, he will send a delegation to discuss terms of peace while the enemy is still far away. 33 So you cannot become my disciple without giving up everything you own.
34 “Salt is good for seasoning. But if it loses its flavor, how do you make it salty again? 35 Flavorless salt is good neither for the soil nor for the manure pile. It is thrown away. Anyone with ears to hear should listen and understand!”

Pinagaling ni Jesus ang Lalaking may Manas
14 Isang Araw ng Pamamahinga, si Jesus ay inanyayahang kumain sa bahay ng isang pinuno ng mga Pariseo, at binabantayan nilang mabuti ang kanyang mga kilos. 2 Lumapit kay Jesus ang isang lalaking may manas. 3 Kaya't tinanong niya ang mga Pariseo at ang mga dalubhasa sa Kautusan, “Naaayon ba sa Kautusan ang magpagaling sa Araw ng Pamamahinga o hindi?”
4 Ngunit hindi sila umimik, kaya't hinawakan ni Jesus ang maysakit, pinagaling ito at saka pinauwi. 5 Pagkatapos(A) ay sinabi niya sa kanila, “Kung ang inyong anak o ang inyong baka ang mahulog sa balon, hindi ba't iaahon ninyo ito kaagad kahit Araw ng Pamamahinga?”
6 Hindi sila nakasagot sa tanong na ito.
Pagmamataas at Pagpapakumbaba
7 Napansin ni Jesus na pinipili ng ilang mga panauhin ang mga upuang pandangal. Kaya't sinabi niya ang talinghagang ito sa kanila. 8 “Kapag(B) inanyayahan ka sa isang kasalan, huwag kang uupo agad sa upuang pandangal. Baka may inanyayahang mas kilala kaysa sa iyo. 9 Baka lapitan ka ng nag-anyaya sa inyong dalawa at sabihin sa iyo, ‘Maaari bang ibigay mo ang upuang iyan sa taong ito?’ Sa gayon, mapapahiya ka at doon ka uupo sa pinakaabang upuan. 10 Mabuti pa, kapag naanyayahan ka, doon ka muna maupo sa pinakaabang upuan. Kapag lumapit sa iyo ang nag-anyaya at kanyang sinabi, ‘Kaibigan, dito ka sa kabisera,’ mapaparangalan ka sa harap ng lahat ng mga panauhin. 11 Sapagkat(C) ang nagmamataas ay ibababa, at ang nagpapakumbaba ay itataas.”
12 Sinabi naman ni Jesus sa nag-anyaya sa kanya, “Kapag naghahanda ka ng isang salu-salo, huwag ang iyong mga kaibigan, mga kapatid, mga kamag-anak o mayayamang kapitbahay ang aanyayahan mo, dahil aanyayahan ka rin nila at sa gayon ay susuklian ang iyong ginawa. 13 Subalit kapag ikaw ay maghahanda, anyayahan mo ang mga mahihirap, mga lumpo, mga pilay, at mga bulag. 14 Kapag ganito ang ginawa mo, pagpapalain ka, dahil hindi man nila masuklian ang ginawa mo, ang Diyos ang magbibigay sa iyo ng gantimpala sa muling pagkabuhay ng mga matuwid.”
Ang Talinghaga ng Malaking Handaan(D)
15 Narinig ito ng isa sa mga kasalo niya roon, at sinabi sa kanya, “Pinagpala ang makakasalo sa hapag sa kaharian ng Diyos!”
16 Sumagot si Jesus, “Isang lalaki ang naghanda ng isang malaking salu-salo, at marami siyang inanyayahan. 17 Nang dumating ang oras ng handaan, inutusan niya ang kanyang alipin at ipinasabi sa mga inanyayahan, ‘Halina kayo, handa na ang lahat!’ 18 Ngunit nagdahilan silang lahat. Ang sabi ng una, ‘Nakabili ako ng bukid at kailangan ko itong puntahan. Kayo na sana ang bahalang magpaumanhin sa akin.’ 19 Sinabi naman ng isa, ‘Nakabili ako ng limang magkapares na baka at kailangang masubukan ko sa bukid ang mga iyon. Kayo na sana ang bahalang magpaumanhin sa akin.’ 20 Sinabi naman ng isa, ‘Ako'y bagong kasal, kaya't hindi ako makakadalo.’
21 “Bumalik ang alipin at ibinalita ito sa kanyang panginoon. Nagalit ang panginoon at sinabi sa alipin, ‘Pumunta ka kaagad sa mga lansangan at sa makikipot na daan ng lungsod at isama mo rito ang mga mahihirap, mga lumpo, mga bulag, at mga pilay.’ 22 Pagkatapos sinabi ng alipin, ‘Panginoon, nagawa ko na po ang iniutos ninyo, ngunit marami pang bakanteng upuan.’ 23 Kaya't sinabi ng panginoon sa alipin, ‘Pumunta ka sa mga lansangan at sa mga daan, at pilitin mong pumarito ang sinumang makita mo upang mapuno ang aking bahay. 24 Sinasabi ko sa inyo, isa man sa mga unang inanyayahan ay hindi makakatikim ng aking handa!’”
Ang Pagiging Alagad(E)
25 Sumama kay Jesus ang napakaraming tao; humarap siya sa kanila at kanyang sinabi, 26 “Hindi(F) maaaring maging alagad ko ang sinumang umiibig sa kanyang ama at ina, asawa at mga anak, mga kapatid, at maging sa sarili niyang buhay nang higit sa akin. 27 Ang(G) hindi magpasan ng sarili niyang krus at sumunod sa akin ay hindi maaaring maging alagad ko.
28 “Kung ang isa sa inyo'y nagbabalak na magtayo ng tore, hindi ba siya uupo muna upang magplano at kuwentahin kung magkano ang magagastos niya upang matiyak kung may sapat siyang pera para maipatapos ang kanyang ipapatayo? 29 Baka matapos mailagay ang mga pundasyon ay hindi naman mayari ang tore. Siya'y kukutyain lamang ng lahat ng makakakita niyon. 30 Sasabihin nila, ‘Ang taong ito'y nagsimulang magtayo ngunit hindi naman naipatapos.’
31 “O sinong hari na makikipagdigma sa kapwa hari ang hindi muna mauupo upang pag-aralang mabuti kung kaya niya, gamit ang sampung libo niyang kawal, na sumagupa sa kalaban na may dalawampung libong kawal? 32 At kung hindi niya kaya, malayo pa ang kalaban ay magsusugo na siya ng mga kinatawan upang makipagkasundo. 33 Gayundin naman, hindi maaaring maging alagad ko ang sinuman kung hindi niya tatalikuran ang lahat sa kanyang buhay.
Asin na Walang Alat(H)
34 “Mabuti ang asin, ngunit kung ang asin ay mawalan na ng alat, paano pa ito mapapaalat muli? 35 Wala itong kabutihang maibibigay sa lupa, o kahit sa tambakan man ng dumi, kaya't ito'y itinatapon na lamang. Makinig ang may pandinig!”

Jesus at a Pharisee’s House(A)
14 One Sabbath, when Jesus went to eat in the house of a prominent Pharisee,(B) he was being carefully watched.(C) 2 There in front of him was a man suffering from abnormal swelling of his body. 3 Jesus asked the Pharisees and experts in the law,(D) “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath or not?”(E) 4 But they remained silent. So taking hold of the man, he healed him and sent him on his way.
5 Then he asked them, “If one of you has a child[a] or an ox that falls into a well on the Sabbath day, will you not immediately pull it out?”(F) 6 And they had nothing to say.
7 When he noticed how the guests picked the places of honor at the table,(G) he told them this parable: 8 “When someone invites you to a wedding feast, do not take the place of honor, for a person more distinguished than you may have been invited. 9 If so, the host who invited both of you will come and say to you, ‘Give this person your seat.’ Then, humiliated, you will have to take the least important place. 10 But when you are invited, take the lowest place, so that when your host comes, he will say to you, ‘Friend, move up to a better place.’ Then you will be honored in the presence of all the other guests. 11 For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”(H)
12 Then Jesus said to his host, “When you give a luncheon or dinner, do not invite your friends, your brothers or sisters, your relatives, or your rich neighbors; if you do, they may invite you back and so you will be repaid. 13 But when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind,(I) 14 and you will be blessed. Although they cannot repay you, you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous.”(J)
The Parable of the Great Banquet(K)
15 When one of those at the table with him heard this, he said to Jesus, “Blessed is the one who will eat at the feast(L) in the kingdom of God.”(M)
16 Jesus replied: “A certain man was preparing a great banquet and invited many guests. 17 At the time of the banquet he sent his servant to tell those who had been invited, ‘Come, for everything is now ready.’
18 “But they all alike began to make excuses. The first said, ‘I have just bought a field, and I must go and see it. Please excuse me.’
19 “Another said, ‘I have just bought five yoke of oxen, and I’m on my way to try them out. Please excuse me.’
20 “Still another said, ‘I just got married, so I can’t come.’
21 “The servant came back and reported this to his master. Then the owner of the house became angry and ordered his servant, ‘Go out quickly into the streets and alleys of the town and bring in the poor, the crippled, the blind and the lame.’(N)
22 “‘Sir,’ the servant said, ‘what you ordered has been done, but there is still room.’
23 “Then the master told his servant, ‘Go out to the roads and country lanes and compel them to come in, so that my house will be full. 24 I tell you, not one of those who were invited will get a taste of my banquet.’”(O)
The Cost of Being a Disciple
25 Large crowds were traveling with Jesus, and turning to them he said: 26 “If anyone comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters—yes, even their own life—such a person cannot be my disciple.(P) 27 And whoever does not carry their cross and follow me cannot be my disciple.(Q)
28 “Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Won’t you first sit down and estimate the cost to see if you have enough money to complete it? 29 For if you lay the foundation and are not able to finish it, everyone who sees it will ridicule you, 30 saying, ‘This person began to build and wasn’t able to finish.’
31 “Or suppose a king is about to go to war against another king. Won’t he first sit down and consider whether he is able with ten thousand men to oppose the one coming against him with twenty thousand? 32 If he is not able, he will send a delegation while the other is still a long way off and will ask for terms of peace. 33 In the same way, those of you who do not give up everything you have cannot be my disciples.(R)
34 “Salt is good, but if it loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again?(S) 35 It is fit neither for the soil nor for the manure pile; it is thrown out.(T)
“Whoever has ears to hear, let them hear.”(U)
