10 这些事以后，主又另外指派了七十二个人（“七十二个人”有些抄本作“七十个人”），差遣他们两个两个地，在他前面，到他自己将要到的各城各地去。 2 耶稣对他们说：“庄稼多，工人少，所以你们应当求庄稼的主，派工人出去收他的庄稼。 3 你们去吧！我差你们去，如同羊羔进入狼群。 4 不要带钱囊，不要带口袋，不要带鞋，不要在路上问候人。 5 无论进哪一家，先说：‘愿平安归与这家！’ 6 那里若有配得平安的人（“配得平安的人”原文作“平安之子”），你们的平安就必临到他，不然，就归给你们。 7 你们要住在那家，吃喝他们所供给的，因为作工的理当得工资；不必从这家搬到那家。 8 无论进哪一城，人若接待你们，摆上甚么，就吃甚么。 9 要医治城中的病人，对他们宣讲：‘ 神的国临近你们了。’ 10 无论进哪一城，人若不接待你们，你们就出来到街上，说： 11 ‘连你们城里那黏在我们脚上的尘土，我们也要当着你们擦去。虽然这样，你们应该知道： 神的国临近了！’ 12 我告诉你们，当那日，所多玛所受的，比那城所受的还轻呢。

The Mission of the Seventy
10 After this the Lord appointed seventy[a] others, and sent them on ahead of him, two by two, into every town and place where he himself was about to come. 2 And he said to them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; pray therefore the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest. 3 Go your way; behold, I send you out as lambs in the midst of wolves. 4 Carry no purse, no bag, no sandals; and salute no one on the road. 5 Whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace be to this house!’ 6 And if a son of peace is there, your peace shall rest upon him; but if not, it shall return to you. 7 And remain in the same house, eating and drinking what they provide, for the laborer deserves his wages; do not go from house to house. 8 Whenever you enter a town and they receive you, eat what is set before you; 9 heal the sick in it and say to them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you.’ 10 But whenever you enter a town and they do not receive you, go into its streets and say, 11 ‘Even the dust of your town that clings to our feet, we wipe off against you; nevertheless know this, that the kingdom of God has come near.’ 12 I tell you, it shall be more tolerable on that day for Sodom than for that town.
Woes to Unrepentant Cities
13 “Woe to you, Chora′zin! woe to you, Beth-sa′ida! for if the mighty works done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes. 14 But it shall be more tolerable in the judgment for Tyre and Sidon than for you. 15 And you, Caper′na-um, will you be exalted to heaven? You shall be brought down to Hades.
16 “He who hears you hears me, and he who rejects you rejects me, and he who rejects me rejects him who sent me.”
The Return of the Seventy
17 The seventy[b] returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in your name!” 18 And he said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.[c] 19 Behold, I have given you authority to tread upon serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy; and nothing shall hurt you. 20 Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you; but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.”
Jesus Rejoices
21 In that same hour he rejoiced in the Holy Spirit and said, “I thank thee, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to babes; yea, Father, for such was thy gracious will.[d] 22 All things have been delivered to me by my Father; and no one knows who the Son is except the Father, or who the Father is except the Son and any one to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.”
23 Then turning to the disciples he said privately, “Blessed are the eyes which see what you see! 24 For I tell you that many prophets and kings desired to see what you see, and did not see it, and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it.”
The Parable of the Good Samaritan
25 And behold, a lawyer stood up to put him to the test, saying, “Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?” 26 He said to him, “What is written in the law? How do you read?” 27 And he answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself.” 28 And he said to him, “You have answered right; do this, and you will live.”
29 But he, desiring to justify himself, said to Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?” 30 Jesus replied, “A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and he fell among robbers, who stripped him and beat him, and departed, leaving him half dead. 31 Now by chance a priest was going down that road; and when he saw him he passed by on the other side. 32 So likewise a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. 33 But a Samaritan, as he journeyed, came to where he was; and when he saw him, he had compassion, 34 and went to him and bound up his wounds, pouring on oil and wine; then he set him on his own beast and brought him to an inn, and took care of him. 35 And the next day he took out two denarii[e] and gave them to the innkeeper, saying, ‘Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, I will repay you when I come back.’ 36 Which of these three, do you think, proved neighbor to the man who fell among the robbers?” 37 He said, “The one who showed mercy on him.” And Jesus said to him, “Go and do likewise.”
Jesus Visits Martha and Mary
38 Now as they went on their way, he entered a village; and a woman named Martha received him into her house. 39 And she had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet and listened to his teaching. 40 But Martha was distracted with much serving; and she went to him and said, “Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her then to help me.” 41 But the Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things; 42 one thing is needful.[f] Mary has chosen the good portion, which shall not be taken away from her.”

10 Después de esto, el Señor(A) designó a otros setenta[a], y los envió de dos en dos(B) delante de Él(C), a toda ciudad y lugar adonde Él había de ir. 2 Y les decía: «La cosecha es mucha, pero los obreros pocos; rueguen, por tanto, al Señor de la cosecha que envíe obreros a Su cosecha(D). 3 Vayan; miren que los envío como corderos en medio de lobos(E). 4 (F)No lleven bolsa, ni alforja[b], ni sandalias; y a nadie saluden por el camino.
5 »En cualquier casa que entren, primero digan: “Paz a esta casa”. 6 Y si hay allí un hijo de paz, la paz de ustedes reposará sobre él; pero si no, se volverá a ustedes. 7 Permanezcan entonces en esa casa[c], comiendo y bebiendo lo que les den[d]; porque el obrero es digno de su salario(G). No se pasen de casa en casa. 8 En cualquier ciudad donde entren y los reciban, coman lo que les sirvan(H); 9 sanen a los enfermos que haya en ella, y díganles: “Se ha acercado a ustedes el reino de Dios(I)”.
10 »Pero en cualquier ciudad donde entren, y no los reciban, salgan a sus calles, y digan: 11 “Hasta el polvo de su ciudad que se pega a nuestros pies, nos lo sacudimos en protesta contra ustedes(J); pero sepan esto: que el reino de Dios se ha acercado(K)”. 12 Les digo que en aquel día será más tolerable el castigo para Sodoma que para aquella ciudad(L).
13 »¡(M) Ay de ti Corazín! ¡Ay de ti Betsaida! Porque si los milagros[e] que se hicieron entre ustedes hubieran sido hechos en Tiro y Sidón, hace tiempo que se hubieran arrepentido sentados en cilicio y ceniza(N) . 14 Por eso, en el juicio será más tolerable el castigo para Tiro y Sidón(O)que para ustedes. 15 Y tú, Capernaúm(P), ¿acaso serás elevada hasta los cielos? ¡Hasta el Hades[f]serás hundida(Q)!

Regreso de los setenta
17 Los setenta[g] regresaron con gozo, diciendo: «Señor, hasta los demonios se nos sujetan en Tu nombre(T)». 18 Y Él les dijo: «Yo veía a Satanás(U)caer del cielo como un rayo. 19 Miren, les he dado autoridad para pisotear sobre serpientes(V)y escorpiones, y sobre todo el poder del enemigo, y nada les hará daño. 20 Sin embargo, no se regocijen en esto, de que los espíritus se les sometan, sino regocíjense de que sus nombres están escritos en los cielos(W)».
Jesús se regocija
21 (X)En aquella misma hora Jesús se regocijó mucho en el Espíritu Santo, y dijo: «Te alabo, Padre, Señor del cielo y de la tierra, porque ocultaste estas cosas a sabios y a inteligentes, y las revelaste a niños. Sí, Padre, porque así fue de Tu agrado. 22 Todas las cosas me han sido entregadas(Y)por Mi Padre, y nadie sabe quién es el Hijo sino el Padre, ni quién es el Padre sino el Hijo(Z), y aquel a quien el Hijo se lo quiera revelar».
23 (AA)Volviéndose hacia los discípulos, les dijo aparte: «Dichosos los ojos que ven lo que ustedes ven; 24 porque les digo que muchos profetas y reyes desearon ver lo que ustedes ven, y no lo vieron, y oír lo que ustedes oyen, y no lo oyeron».
Pregunta sobre la vida eterna

Parábola del buen samaritano
30 Jesús le respondió: «Cierto hombre bajaba de Jerusalén(AG)a Jericó, y cayó en manos de salteadores, los cuales después de despojarlo y de darle golpes, se fueron, dejándolo medio muerto. 31 Por casualidad cierto sacerdote bajaba por aquel camino, y cuando lo vio, pasó por el otro lado del camino. 32 Del mismo modo, también un levita, cuando llegó al lugar y lo vio, pasó por el otro lado del camino.
33 »Pero cierto samaritano(AH) , que iba de viaje, llegó adonde él estaba; y cuando lo vio, tuvo compasión. 34 Acercándose, le vendó sus heridas, derramando aceite y vino sobre ellas; y poniéndolo sobre su propia cabalgadura, lo llevó a un mesón y lo cuidó.
35 »Al día siguiente, sacando dos denarios[k] se los dio al mesonero, y dijo: “Cuídelo, y todo lo demás que gaste, cuando yo regrese se lo pagaré”. 36 ¿Cuál de estos tres piensas tú que demostró ser prójimo del que cayó en manos de los salteadores?». 37 El intérprete de la ley respondió: «El que tuvo misericordia de él». «Ve y haz tú lo mismo», le dijo Jesús.
Jesús visita a Marta y a María
38 Mientras iban ellos de camino, Jesús entró en cierta aldea; y una mujer llamada Marta(AI) lo recibió en su casa. 39 Ella tenía una hermana que se llamaba María(AJ), que[l] sentada a los pies del Señor, escuchaba Su palabra(AK). 40 Pero Marta(AL) se preocupaba con todos los preparativos[m]. Y acercándose a Él, le dijo: «Señor, ¿no te importa que mi hermana me deje servir sola? Dile, pues, que me ayude».
41 El Señor le respondió: «Marta, Marta(AM), tú estás preocupada y molesta por tantas cosas(AN); 42 pero una sola cosa es necesaria[n](AO), y[o]María(AP)ha escogido la parte buena, la cual no le será quitada».

The Message
Lambs in a Wolf Pack
10 1-2 Later the Master selected seventy and sent them ahead of him in pairs to every town and place where he intended to go. He gave them this charge:
“What a huge harvest! And how few the harvest hands. So on your knees; ask the God of the Harvest to send harvest hands.
3 “On your way! But be careful—this is hazardous work. You’re like lambs in a wolf pack.
4 “Travel light. Comb and toothbrush and no extra luggage.
“Don’t loiter and make small talk with everyone you meet along the way.
5-6 “When you enter a home, greet the family, ‘Peace.’ If your greeting is received, then it’s a good place to stay. But if it’s not received, take it back and get out. Don’t impose yourself.
7 “Stay at one home, taking your meals there, for a worker deserves three square meals. Don’t move from house to house, looking for the best cook in town.
8-9 “When you enter a town and are received, eat what they set before you, heal anyone who is sick, and tell them, ‘God’s kingdom is right on your doorstep!’
10-12 “When you enter a town and are not received, go out in the street and say, ‘The only thing we got from you is the dirt on our feet, and we’re giving it back. Did you have any idea that God’s kingdom was right on your doorstep?’ Sodom will have it better on Judgment Day than the town that rejects you.
13-14 “Doom, Chorazin! Doom, Bethsaida! If Tyre and Sidon had been given half the chances given you, they’d have been on their knees long ago, repenting and crying for mercy. Tyre and Sidon will have it easy on Judgment Day compared to you.
15 “And you, Capernaum! Do you think you’re about to be promoted to heaven? Think again. You’re on a fast track to hell.
16 “The one who listens to you, listens to me. The one who rejects you, rejects me. And rejecting me is the same as rejecting God, who sent me.”
17 The seventy came back triumphant. “Master, even the demons danced to your tune!”
18-20 Jesus said, “I know. I saw Satan fall, a bolt of lightning out of the sky. See what I’ve given you? Safe passage as you walk on snakes and scorpions, and protection from every assault of the Enemy. No one can put a hand on you. All the same, the great triumph is not in your authority over evil, but in God’s authority over you and presence with you. Not what you do for God but what God does for you—that’s the agenda for rejoicing.”
21 At that, Jesus rejoiced, exuberant in the Holy Spirit. “I thank you, Father, Master of heaven and earth, that you hid these things from the know-it-alls and showed them to these innocent newcomers. Yes, Father, it pleased you to do it this way.
22 “I’ve been given it all by my Father! Only the Father knows who the Son is and only the Son knows who the Father is. The Son can introduce the Father to anyone he wants to.”
23-24 He then turned in a private aside to his disciples. “Fortunate the eyes that see what you’re seeing! There are plenty of prophets and kings who would have given their right arm to see what you are seeing but never got so much as a glimpse, to hear what you are hearing but never got so much as a whisper.”
Defining “Neighbor”
25 Just then a religion scholar stood up with a question to test Jesus. “Teacher, what do I need to do to get eternal life?”
26 He answered, “What’s written in God’s Law? How do you interpret it?”
27 He said, “That you love the Lord your God with all your passion and prayer and muscle and intelligence—and that you love your neighbor as well as you do yourself.”
28 “Good answer!” said Jesus. “Do it and you’ll live.”
29 Looking for a loophole, he asked, “And just how would you define ‘neighbor’?”
30-32 Jesus answered by telling a story. “There was once a man traveling from Jerusalem to Jericho. On the way he was attacked by robbers. They took his clothes, beat him up, and went off leaving him half-dead. Luckily, a priest was on his way down the same road, but when he saw him he angled across to the other side. Then a Levite religious man showed up; he also avoided the injured man.
33-35 “A Samaritan traveling the road came on him. When he saw the man’s condition, his heart went out to him. He gave him first aid, disinfecting and bandaging his wounds. Then he lifted him onto his donkey, led him to an inn, and made him comfortable. In the morning he took out two silver coins and gave them to the innkeeper, saying, ‘Take good care of him. If it costs any more, put it on my bill—I’ll pay you on my way back.’
36 “What do you think? Which of the three became a neighbor to the man attacked by robbers?”
37 “The one who treated him kindly,” the religion scholar responded.
Jesus said, “Go and do the same.”
Mary and Martha
38-40 As they continued their travel, Jesus entered a village. A woman by the name of Martha welcomed him and made him feel quite at home. She had a sister, Mary, who sat before the Master, hanging on every word he said. But Martha was pulled away by all she had to do in the kitchen. Later, she stepped in, interrupting them. “Master, don’t you care that my sister has abandoned the kitchen to me? Tell her to lend me a hand.”
41-42 The Master said, “Martha, dear Martha, you’re fussing far too much and getting yourself worked up over nothing. One thing only is essential, and Mary has chosen it—it’s the main course, and won’t be taken from her.”
