Blessedness of Forgiveness and of Trust in God.

A Psalm of David. A [a]Maskil.

32 (A)How blessed is he whose wrongdoing is forgiven,
Whose sin is covered!
How blessed is a person whose guilt the Lord (B)does not take into account,
And in whose spirit there is (C)no deceit!

When (D)I kept silent about my sin, (E)my [b]body wasted away
Through my [c](F)groaning all day long.
For day and night (G)Your hand was heavy upon me;
My [d](H)vitality failed as with the dry heat of summer. Selah
I (I)acknowledged my sin to You,
And I (J)did not hide my guilt;
I said, “(K)I will confess my wrongdoings to the Lord”;
And You (L)forgave the guilt of my sin. Selah

I prayed to the Lord my God and confessed, and said, “Oh, Lord, the (A)great and awesome God, who (B)keeps His covenant and faithfulness for those who love Him and keep His commandments, (C)we have sinned, we have done wrong, and [a]acted wickedly and (D)rebelled, even (E)turning aside from Your commandments and ordinances. Moreover, we have not (F)listened to Your servants the prophets, who spoke in Your name to our kings, our leaders, our fathers, and all the people of the land.

(G)Righteousness belongs to You, Lord, but to us [b](H)open shame, as it is this day—to the men of Judah, the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and all Israel, those who are nearby and those who are far away in (I)all the countries to which You have driven them, because of their unfaithful deeds which they have committed against You. [c]Open shame belongs to us, Lord, to our kings, our leaders, and our fathers, because we have sinned against You. To the Lord our God belong (J)compassion and forgiveness, [d]because we have (K)rebelled against Him; 10 and we have not obeyed the voice of the Lord our God, to walk in His [e]teachings which He (L)set before us through His servants the prophets. 11 Indeed, (M)all Israel has violated Your Law and turned aside, not obeying Your voice; so the (N)curse has gushed forth on us, along with the oath which is written in the Law of Moses the servant of God, because we have sinned against Him. 12 So He has (O)confirmed His words which He had spoken against us and against our [f](P)rulers who ruled us, to bring on us great disaster; for under the entire heaven there has (Q)not been done anything like what was done in Jerusalem. 13 Just as it is written in the (R)Law of Moses, all this disaster has come on us; yet we have (S)not [g]sought the favor of the Lord our God by (T)turning from our wrongdoing and [h]giving attention to Your truth. 14 So the Lord has [i](U)kept the disaster in store and brought it on us; for the Lord our God is (V)righteous with respect to all His deeds which He has done, but we have not obeyed His voice.

15 “And now, Lord, our God, You who (W)brought Your people out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand and (X)made a name for Yourself, as it is this day—we have sinned, we have been wicked. 16 Lord, in accordance with all Your [j]righteous acts, let now Your (Y)anger and Your wrath turn away from Your city Jerusalem, Your (Z)holy mountain; for because of our sins and the wrongdoings of our fathers, Jerusalem and Your people have become an (AA)object of taunting to all those around us. 17 So now, our God, listen to the prayer of Your servant and to his pleas, and for [k]Your sake, Lord, (AB)let Your face shine on Your (AC)desolate sanctuary. 18 My God, (AD)incline Your ear and hear! Open Your eyes and (AE)see our desolations and the city which is (AF)called by Your name; for we are not [l](AG)presenting our pleas before You based on [m]any merits of our own, but based on Your great compassion. 19 Lord, hear! Lord, forgive! Lord, listen and take action! For Your own sake, my God, (AH)do not delay, because Your city and Your people are called by Your name.”
