神是满有公义与权能的王
97 耶和华作王，愿地快乐，
愿众海岛都欢喜。
2 密云和幽暗在他的四围，
公义和公正是他宝座的根基。
3 有火走在他的前面，
烧尽他四围的敌人。
4 他的闪电照亮世界，
大地看见了就战栗。
5 在耶和华面前，就是在全地的主面前，
群山都像蜡一般融化。
6 诸天传扬他的公义，
万民得见他的荣耀。
7 愿所有事奉雕刻的偶像的，
以虚无的偶像为夸口的，都蒙羞；
众神哪！你们都要拜他。
8 耶和华啊！锡安听见你的判断就欢喜，
犹大的各城（“各城”原文作“女子”）也都快乐。
9 耶和华啊！因为你是全地的至高者；
你被尊崇，远超过众神之上。
10 你们爱耶和华的，都要恨恶罪恶；
耶和华保护圣民的性命，
救他们脱离恶人的手。
11 有亮光照耀（“照耀”有古抄本作“散播”）义人，
心里正直的人得享喜乐。
12 义人哪！你们要靠耶和华欢喜，
要称赞他的圣名。

上帝是至高的统治者
97 耶和华掌权，大地要欢欣！
众海岛要快乐！
2 密云和黑暗环绕在祂周围，
公义和公平是祂宝座的根基。
3 烈火做祂的先锋，
烧灭祂周围的仇敌。
4 祂的闪电照亮世界，
大地因此而战抖。
5 在天下之主耶和华面前，
群山如蜡熔化。
6 诸天述说祂的公义，
万民瞻仰祂的荣耀。
7 愿一切祭拜神像，
以神像夸口的人都蒙羞。
所有的神明啊，
你们都要向耶和华下拜。
8 耶和华啊，听见你的审判，
锡安就欢喜，
犹大的城邑就快乐。
9 因为你耶和华是普天下的至高者，
凌驾于万神之上。
10 爱耶和华的人都要憎恨罪恶，
因为祂保护敬虔人的生命，
从恶人手中拯救他们。
11 光照亮义人，

The Lord rules as king![a]
97 The Lord rules as king!
Everyone on earth should be happy!
The people who live on the shore of the seas
should sing with joy!
2 Dark clouds are all round the Lord.
He rules with justice,
and he is fair to everyone.
3 Fire goes in front of him.
It burns up his enemies on every side.
4 His lightning lights up the whole world.
The earth sees it and it shakes with fear.
5 The mountains melt like butter
in front of the Lord,
when they see the Lord of the whole earth.
6 The sky itself tells us that he is righteous
People from every nation see his glory.
7 Everyone who worships idols should be ashamed.
They should not boast about useless idols!
All gods like that will fall down in front of the Lord.
8 When Zion's people hear about it,
they will be happy.
Yes, the people of Judah will be very happy!
They will be happy, Lord,
because you bring justice.
9 You, Lord, are the Most High God
who rules over all the earth.
You are much greater than any other god![b]
10 If you love the Lord,
then hate anything that is evil.
The Lord protects the lives of those who serve him.
He keeps them safe from the power of wicked people.
11 God's light shines on righteous people.
Good, honest people will be very happy.
12 All you righteous people,
be happy because of what the Lord has done.
Thank him because he is holy.

- 97:1 This is another Royal Psalm. It tells us what happens when everybody sees that God is king. He punishes those people who do bad things. He rescues his people when they are in trouble.
- 97:9 Nations all round Judah had their own gods. Often they used wood, metal or stone to make idols which they worshipped. When God appears, everyone will know that he is the only true God. The Lord God is the Most High God, the God who lives for ever.
