A Song of Praise to the Sovereign Lord
2 (B)Clouds and darkness surround Him;
(C)Righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne.
3 (D)A fire goes before Him,
And burns up His enemies round about.
4 (E)His lightnings light the world;
The earth sees and trembles.
5 (F)The mountains melt like wax at the presence of the Lord,
At the presence of the Lord of the whole earth.
6 (G)The heavens declare His righteousness,
And all the peoples see His glory.
7 (H)Let all be put to shame who serve carved images,
Who boast of idols.
(I)Worship Him, all you gods.
8 Zion hears and is glad,
And the daughters of Judah rejoice
Because of Your judgments, O Lord.
9 For You, Lord, are (J)most high above all the earth;
(K)You are exalted far above all gods.
10 You who love the Lord, (L)hate evil!
(M)He preserves the souls of His saints;
(N)He delivers them out of the hand of the wicked.
11 (O)Light is sown for the righteous,
And gladness for the upright in heart.
12 (P)Rejoice in the Lord, you righteous,
(Q)And give thanks [b]at the remembrance of [c]His holy name.

97 L'Éternel règne: que la terre soit dans l'allégresse, Que les îles nombreuses se réjouissent!
2 Les nuages et l'obscurité l'environnent, La justice et l'équité sont la base de son trône.
3 Le feu marche devant lui, Et embrase à l'entour ses adversaires.
4 Ses éclairs illuminent le monde, La terre le voit et tremble;
5 Les montagnes se fondent comme la cire devant l'Éternel, Devant le Seigneur de toute la terre.
6 Les cieux publient sa justice, Et tous les peuples voient sa gloire.
7 Ils sont confus, tous ceux qui servent les images, Qui se font gloire des idoles. Tous les dieux se prosternent devant lui.
8 Sion l'entend et se réjouit, Les filles de Juda sont dans l'allégresse, A cause de tes jugements, ô Éternel!
9 Car toi, Éternel! tu es le Très Haut sur toute la terre, Tu es souverainement élevé au-dessus de tous les dieux.
10 Vous qui aimez l'Éternel, haïssez le mal! Il garde les âmes de ses fidèles, Il les délivre de la main des méchants.
11 La lumière est semée pour le juste, Et la joie pour ceux dont le coeur est droit.
12 Justes, réjouissez-vous en l'Éternel, Et célébrez par vos louanges sa sainteté!

97 The Lord reigneth; let the earth rejoice; let the multitude of isles be glad thereof.
2 Clouds and darkness are round about him: righteousness and judgment are the habitation of his throne.
3 A fire goeth before him, and burneth up his enemies round about.
4 His lightnings enlightened the world: the earth saw, and trembled.
5 The hills melted like wax at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the Lord of the whole earth.
6 The heavens declare his righteousness, and all the people see his glory.
7 Confounded be all they that serve graven images, that boast themselves of idols: worship him, all ye gods.
8 Zion heard, and was glad; and the daughters of Judah rejoiced because of thy judgments, O Lord.
9 For thou, Lord, art high above all the earth: thou art exalted far above all gods.
10 Ye that love the Lord, hate evil: he preserveth the souls of his saints; he delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked.
11 Light is sown for the righteous, and gladness for the upright in heart.
12 Rejoice in the Lord, ye righteous; and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.
