Dieu fait justice[a]
9 Un cantique de David dédié au chef de chœur, à chanter avec accompagnement de hautbois et de harpes.
2 Je te louerai, ╵ô Eternel, de tout mon cœur,
je veux raconter tes merveilles.
3 Par toi, j’exulte d’allégresse,
je te célèbre par des chants, ╵ô Dieu très-haut.
4 Mes ennemis prennent la fuite,
sous tes coups, ils vont trébucher ; ╵ils vont périr devant ta face.
5 Tu m’as rendu justice, ╵et tu as défendu mon droit,
quand tu as siégé sur ton trône ╵pour juger selon la justice.
6 Tu as menacé les peuples païens, ╵tu as fait périr le méchant,
et effacé son souvenir ╵pour toutes les générations.
7 Plus d’ennemis ! ╵Ils sont ruinés à tout jamais
car tu as renversé leurs villes,
le souvenir en est perdu.
8 L’Eternel siège pour toujours,
voici : il a dressé son trône ╵pour exercer ses jugements.
9 C’est lui qui gouverne le monde ╵avec droiture et équité,
qui prononce le jugement ╵avec justice sur les peuples.
10 Oui, l’Eternel est un refuge ╵pour ceux que l’on opprime,
un lieu fort en temps de détresse.
11 C’est pourquoi ceux qui te connaissent ╵ont placé leur confiance en toi.
Car toi, jamais, tu ne délaisses, ╵ô Eternel, ╵celui qui se tourne vers toi.
12 Célébrez par des chants ╵l’Eternel, qui siège en Sion,
et proclamez ╵parmi les peuples ses hauts faits.
13 Car il poursuit les meurtriers ╵et se souvient de leurs victimes ;
jamais il n’est indifférent ╵au cri des opprimés.
14 Eternel, aie pitié de moi !
Vois l’affliction où m’ont réduit ╵ceux qui me vouent leur haine !
C’est toi qui me fais remonter ╵des portes de la mort
15 pour que je publie tes louanges
aux portes[b] de ceux qui habitent ╵la ville de Sion
et que je sois dans l’allégresse ╵pour ton œuvre de délivrance.
16 Les peuples païens tombent dans la fosse ╵qu’ils avaient creusée de leurs mains,
leurs pieds se prennent dans le piège ╵qu’ils avaient tendu en cachette[c].
17 L’Eternel a montré ╵qui il était : ╵il fait justice,
et il prend le méchant ╵à son propre filet.

tous les peuples païens ╵qui ne se soucient pas de Dieu.
19 Mais Dieu n’oublie pas à jamais les pauvres,

20 Eternel, lève-toi ! ╵Que l’homme ne triomphe pas !
Fais comparaître devant toi ╵les peuples païens pour qu’ils soient jugés.
21 Frappe-les de terreur, ╵ô Eternel,
et que ces peuples sachent ╵qu’ils ne sont que des hommes.

- 9 Il est possible que les Ps 9 et 10 aient constitué, à l’origine, un psaume unique. Ils forment ensemble un poème alphabétique (dont les strophes ou les vers débutent par les lettres successives de l’alphabet hébreu) et un seul psaume dans la version grecque. Les autres psaumes alphabétiques sont les Ps 25, 34, 111, 112, 119 et 145.
- 9.15 En Orient, les places publiques où l’on se retrouvait, où l’on convoquait les habitants pour toutes les assemblées importantes, se trouvaient près des portes de la ville.
- 9.16 Voir 7.16-17.
- 9.17 Traduction incertaine : jeu d’instruments, interlude, en sourdine, méditation. Il s’agit sans doute d’un arrêt plus important que celui marqué par la Pause. Le terme est utilisé en 92.4 en liaison avec les sons de la harpe ; c’est pourquoi on pense qu’il s’agissait d’une notation appelant un jeu instrumental.

9 Alabaré [b] al Señor con todo mi corazón(A).
Todas tus maravillas[c] contaré(B);
2 en ti me alegraré y me regocijaré(C);
cantaré alabanzas a tu nombre(D), oh Altísimo(E).
3 Cuando mis enemigos retroceden,
tropiezan y perecen delante de ti(F).
4 Porque tú has mantenido mi derecho y mi causa(G);
te sientas en el trono juzgando con justicia[d](H).
5 Has reprendido a las naciones(I), has destruido al impío,
has borrado su nombre para siempre jamás(J).
6 El enemigo ha llegado a su fin en desolación eterna,
y tú has destruido sus ciudades[e];
su recuerdo ha perecido con ellas(K).
7 Pero el Señor permanece[f] para siempre(L);
ha establecido su trono para juicio(M),
8 y juzgará al mundo con justicia;
con equidad ejecutará juicio sobre[g] los pueblos(N).
9 Será[h] también el Señor baluarte para el oprimido[i],
baluarte en tiempos de angustia(O).
10 En ti pondrán[j] su confianza los que conocen tu nombre(P),
porque tú, oh Señor, no abandonas a los que te buscan(Q).
11 Cantad alabanzas al Señor, que mora en Sión(R);
proclamad entre los pueblos sus proezas(S).
12 Porque el que pide cuentas de la sangre(T) derramada, se acuerda de ellos;
no olvida el clamor de los afligidos(U).
13 Oh Señor, ten piedad de mí;
mira mi aflicción por causa de los que me aborrecen(V),
tú que me levantas de las puertas de la muerte(W);
14 para que yo cuente todas tus alabanzas(X),
para que en las puertas de la hija de Sión
me regocije en tu salvación(Y).
15 Las naciones se han hundido en el foso que hicieron(Z);
en la red que escondieron, quedó prendido su pie(AA).
16 El Señor se ha dado a conocer(AB);
ha ejecutado juicio(AC).

1 I will give thanks to you, Lord, with all my heart;(A)
I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.(B)
2 I will be glad and rejoice(C) in you;
I will sing the praises(D) of your name,(E) O Most High.
3 My enemies turn back;
they stumble and perish before you.
4 For you have upheld my right(F) and my cause,(G)
sitting enthroned(H) as the righteous judge.(I)
5 You have rebuked the nations(J) and destroyed the wicked;
you have blotted out their name(K) for ever and ever.
6 Endless ruin has overtaken my enemies,
you have uprooted their cities;(L)
even the memory of them(M) has perished.
7 The Lord reigns forever;(N)
he has established his throne(O) for judgment.

9 I will praise thee, O Lord, with my whole heart; I will shew forth all thy marvellous works.
2 I will be glad and rejoice in thee: I will sing praise to thy name, O thou most High.
3 When mine enemies are turned back, they shall fall and perish at thy presence.
4 For thou hast maintained my right and my cause; thou satest in the throne judging right.
5 Thou hast rebuked the heathen, thou hast destroyed the wicked, thou hast put out their name for ever and ever.
6 O thou enemy, destructions are come to a perpetual end: and thou hast destroyed cities; their memorial is perished with them.
7 But the Lord shall endure for ever: he hath prepared his throne for judgment.
8 And he shall judge the world in righteousness, he shall minister judgment to the people in uprightness.
9 The Lord also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble.
10 And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, Lord, hast not forsaken them that seek thee.
11 Sing praises to the Lord, which dwelleth in Zion: declare among the people his doings.
12 When he maketh inquisition for blood, he remembereth them: he forgetteth not the cry of the humble.
13 Have mercy upon me, O Lord; consider my trouble which I suffer of them that hate me, thou that liftest me up from the gates of death:
14 That I may shew forth all thy praise in the gates of the daughter of Zion: I will rejoice in thy salvation.
15 The heathen are sunk down in the pit that they made: in the net which they hid is their own foot taken.

17 The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.
18 For the needy shall not always be forgotten: the expectation of the poor shall not perish for ever.
19 Arise, O Lord; let not man prevail: let the heathen be judged in thy sight.
