Längtan till Guds hus
84 (A) För körledaren, till gittít[a]. En psalm av Koras söner.
2 (B) Hur ljuvliga är inte dina boningar,
Herre Sebaot!
3 (C) Min själ längtar och trängtar
till Herrens gårdar,
min själ och min kropp jublar
mot levande Gud.
4 Sparven har funnit sig ett hem
och svalan ett bo
där hon kan lägga sina ungar:
dina altaren, Herre Sebaot,
min kung och min Gud.
5 (D) Saliga är de som bor i ditt hus,
de lovar dig ständigt. Sela
6 (E) Saliga är de
som har sin styrka i dig,
som har dina vägar i sitt hjärta.
7 (F) När de vandrar genom tåredalen[b]
gör de den rik på källor,
och höstregnet[c] täcker den
med välsignelser.
8 De går från kraft till kraft,
de träder fram inför Gud på Sion.
9 Herre Gud Sebaot, hör min bön,
lyssna, du Jakobs Gud! Sela
10 (G) Gud, se vår sköld,
se på din smordes ansikte!
11 En dag i dina gårdar
är bättre än tusen andra.
Jag vill hellre vakta dörren[d]
i min Guds hus
än bo i de gudlösas tält,
12 (H) för Herren Gud är sol och sköld,
Herren ger nåd och ära.
Inget gott nekar han dem
som vandrar i fullkomlighet.
13 (I) Herre Sebaot,
salig är den som förtröstar på dig.

84 How amiable are thy tabernacles, O Lord of hosts!
2 My soul longeth, yea, even fainteth for the courts of the Lord: my heart and my flesh crieth out for the living God.
3 Yea, the sparrow hath found an house, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young, even thine altars, O Lord of hosts, my King, and my God.
4 Blessed are they that dwell in thy house: they will be still praising thee. Selah.
5 Blessed is the man whose strength is in thee; in whose heart are the ways of them.
6 Who passing through the valley of Baca make it a well; the rain also filleth the pools.
7 They go from strength to strength, every one of them in Zion appeareth before God.
8 O Lord God of hosts, hear my prayer: give ear, O God of Jacob. Selah.
9 Behold, O God our shield, and look upon the face of thine anointed.
10 For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.
11 For the Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.
12 O Lord of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in thee.

1 How lovely is your dwelling place,(A)
Lord Almighty!
2 My soul yearns,(B) even faints,
for the courts of the Lord;
my heart and my flesh cry out
for the living God.(C)
3 Even the sparrow has found a home,
and the swallow a nest for herself,
where she may have her young—
a place near your altar,(D)
Lord Almighty,(E) my King(F) and my God.(G)
4 Blessed are those who dwell in your house;
they are ever praising you.[c]
5 Blessed are those whose strength(H) is in you,
whose hearts are set on pilgrimage.(I)
6 As they pass through the Valley of Baka,
they make it a place of springs;(J)
the autumn(K) rains also cover it with pools.[d]
7 They go from strength to strength,(L)
till each appears(M) before God in Zion.(N)
8 Hear my prayer,(O) Lord God Almighty;
listen to me, God of Jacob.
9 Look on our shield,[e](P) O God;
look with favor on your anointed one.(Q)
10 Better is one day in your courts
than a thousand elsewhere;
I would rather be a doorkeeper(R) in the house of my God
than dwell in the tents of the wicked.
11 For the Lord God is a sun(S) and shield;(T)
the Lord bestows favor and honor;
no good thing does he withhold(U)
from those whose walk is blameless.
12 Lord Almighty,
blessed(V) is the one who trusts in you.
