祈愿王公正仁慈的治理永存

所罗门的诗。

72  神啊!求你把你的公正赐给王,

把你的公义赐给王子。(本节在《马索拉文本》包括细字标题)

他要按着公义审判你的子民,

凭着公正审判你的困苦人。

因着公义,

愿大山和小山都给人民带来和平。

他必为民间的困苦人伸冤,

拯救贫穷人,

粉碎那欺压人的。

他必像日月一般长久,

直到万代(按照《马索拉文本》,本节应作“日月还在的时候,愿人都敬畏你,直到万代”;现参照《七十士译本》翻译)。

他必像雨降在已割的草地上,

像甘霖滋润大地。

他在世的日子,义人必兴旺,

四境太平,直到月亮不再重现。

他要执掌权柄,从这海到那海,

从大河直到地极。

住在旷野的人必向他屈身,

他的仇敌必舔尘土。

10 他施和海岛的列王都必带来礼物,

示巴和西巴的列王都必献上贡物。

11 众王都必向他俯伏,

万国都必服事他。

12 因为贫穷人呼求的时候,他就搭救;

没有人帮助的困苦人,他也搭救。

13 他必怜恤软弱和贫穷的人,

拯救贫穷人的性命。

14 他要救他们脱离欺凌和强暴,

他们的血在他眼中看为宝贵。

15 愿他长久活着,

愿人把示巴的金子奉给他,

愿人为他不住祷告,

终日给他祝福。

16 愿地上五谷丰登,

山顶上也都丰收;

愿地上的果实茂盛,像黎巴嫩山的树林,

愿城里的人繁衍,好象地上的青草。

17 愿他的名永远常存,

愿他的名延续像太阳的恒久;

愿万人都因他蒙福,

愿万国都称他为有福的。

18 独行奇事的以色列的 神,

就是耶和华 神,是应当称颂的。

19 他荣耀的名也是应当永远称颂的;

愿他的荣耀充满全地。

72 Turuan mo po ang haring humatol nang makat'wiran,
    sa taglay mong katarungan, O Diyos, siya'y bahaginan;
nang matuwid na tuparin tungkulin sa iyong bayan,
    at pati sa mahihirap maging tapat siyang tunay.
Ang lupain nawa niya'y umunlad at managana;
    maghari ang katarungan sa lupain nitong bansa.
Maging tapat itong hari sa paghatol sa mahirap,
    mga nangangailangan, pag-ukulan ng paglingap;
    at ang nang-aapi ay lupigin at ibagsak.
Nawa sila ay maglingkod, silang lahat mong hinirang,
    hangga't araw sumisikat, hangga't buwa'y sumisilang.

Ang hari sana'y matulad sa ulan ng kaparangan;
    bumubuhos, dumidilig sa lahat ng nabubuhay.
At ang buhay na matuwid sa kanyang kapanahunan,
    maghari sa bansa niya't umunlad kailanpaman.

Nawa(A) kanyang kaharian ay lubusan ngang lumawak,
    mula sa Ilog Eufrates, sa daigdig ay kakalat.
Sa harap niya ay susuko mga taong nasa ilang;
    isubsob nga sa lupa, lahat ng kanyang kaaway.
10 Mga haring nasa pulo at naroon sa Espanya, maghahandog ng kaloob upang parangalan siya.
    Pati rin ang mga hari ng Arabia at Etiopia, may mga kaloob ding ibibigay sa kanya.
11 Ang lahat ng mga hari, gagalang sa harap niya,
    mga bansa'y magpupuri't maglilingkod sa tuwina.

12 Kanyang inililigtas ang mga dukhang tumatawag,
    lalo na ang nalimutan, mga taong mahihirap;
13 sa ganitong mga tao siya'y lubhang nahahabag;
    sa kanila tumutulong, upang sila ay maligtas.
14 Inaagaw niya sila sa kamay ng mararahas,
    sa kanya ang buhay nila'y mahalagang hindi hamak.

15 Pagpalain itong hari! Siya nawa ay mabuhay!
    At magbuhat sa Arabia'y magtamo ng gintong-yaman;
    sa tuwina siya nawa'y idalangin nitong bayan,
    kalingain nawa ng Diyos, pagpalain habang buhay.
16 Sa lupai'y sumagana nawang lagi ang pagkain;
    ang lahat ng kaburulan ay mapuno ng pananim
    at matulad sa Lebanon na mauunlad ang lupain.
At ang kanyang mga lunsod, dumami ang mamamayan,
    sindami ng mga damong tumubo sa kaparangan.
17 Nawa ang kanyang pangalan ay huwag nang malimutan,
    manatiling bantog hangga't sumisikat itong araw.
Nawa siya ay purihin ng lahat ng mga bansa, at sa Diyos, silang lahat dumalanging: “Harinawa,
    pagpalain kaming lahat, tulad niyang pinagpala.”

18 Si Yahweh, Diyos ng Israel, purihin ng taong madla;
ang kahanga-hangang bagay tanging siya ang may gawa.
19 Ang dakilang ngalan niya ay purihin kailanman,
at siya ay dakilain nitong buong sanlibutan!

    Amen! Amen!

Psalm 72

A Prayer for the King

Solomonic.(A)

God, give Your justice to the king
and Your righteousness to the king’s son.(B)
He will judge Your people with righteousness
and Your afflicted ones with justice.(C)
May the mountains bring prosperity[a] to the people
and the hills, righteousness.(D)
May he vindicate the afflicted among the people,
help the poor,
and crush the oppressor.(E)

May he continue[b] while the sun endures
and as long as the moon, throughout all generations.(F)
May he be like rain that falls on the cut grass,
like spring showers that water the earth.(G)
May the righteous[c] flourish in his days
and prosperity[d] abound
until the moon is no more.(H)

May he rule from sea to sea
and from the Euphrates
to the ends of the earth.(I)
May desert tribes kneel before him
and his enemies lick the dust.(J)
10 May the kings of Tarshish
and the coasts and islands bring tribute,
the kings of Sheba and Seba offer gifts.(K)
11 Let all kings bow down to him,
all nations serve him.(L)

12 For he will rescue the poor who cry out
and the afflicted who have no helper.(M)
13 He will have pity on the poor and helpless
and save the lives of the poor.(N)
14 He will redeem them from oppression and violence,
for their lives are[e] precious[f] in his sight.(O)

15 May he live long!
May gold from Sheba be given to him.
May prayer be offered for him continually,
and may he be blessed all day long.(P)
16 May there be plenty of grain in the land;
may it wave on the tops of the mountains.
May its crops be like Lebanon.
May people flourish in the cities
like the grass of the field.(Q)
17 May his name endure forever;
as long as the sun shines,
may his fame increase.
May all nations be blessed by him
and call him blessed.(R)

18 May the Lord God, the God of Israel,
who alone does wonders, be praised.(S)
19 May His glorious name be praised forever;
the whole earth is filled with His glory.(T)

Of Solomon.

Endow the king with your justice,(A) O God,
    the royal son with your righteousness.
May he judge your people in righteousness,(B)
    your afflicted ones with justice.

May the mountains bring prosperity to the people,
    the hills the fruit of righteousness.
May he defend the afflicted(C) among the people
    and save the children of the needy;(D)
    may he crush the oppressor.(E)
May he endure[a](F) as long as the sun,
    as long as the moon, through all generations.(G)
May he be like rain(H) falling on a mown field,
    like showers watering the earth.
In his days may the righteous flourish(I)
    and prosperity abound till the moon is no more.

May he rule from sea to sea
    and from the River[b](J) to the ends of the earth.(K)
May the desert tribes bow before him
    and his enemies lick the dust.
10 May the kings of Tarshish(L) and of distant shores(M)
    bring tribute to him.
May the kings of Sheba(N) and Seba

12 For he will deliver the needy who cry out,
    the afflicted who have no one to help.
13 He will take pity(R) on the weak and the needy
    and save the needy from death.
14 He will rescue(S) them from oppression and violence,
    for precious(T) is their blood in his sight.

15 Long may he live!
    May gold from Sheba(U) be given him.
May people ever pray for him
    and bless him all day long.(V)
16 May grain(W) abound throughout the land;
    on the tops of the hills may it sway.
May the crops(X) flourish like Lebanon(Y)

Then all nations will be blessed through him,[d]

18 Praise be to the Lord God, the God of Israel,(AD)

72 Give the king Your judgments, O God,
And Your righteousness to the king’s Son.
(B)He will judge Your people with righteousness,
And Your poor with justice.
(C)The mountains will bring peace to the people,
And the little hills, by righteousness.
(D)He will bring justice to the poor of the people;
He will save the children of the needy,
And will [a]break in pieces the oppressor.

[b]They shall fear You
(E)As long as the sun and moon endure,
Throughout all generations.
(F)He shall come down like rain upon the grass before mowing,
Like showers that water the earth.
In His days the righteous shall flourish,
(G)And abundance of peace,
Until the moon is no more.

(H)He shall have dominion also from sea to sea,
And from the River to the ends of the earth.
(I)Those who dwell in the wilderness will bow before Him,
(J)And His enemies will lick the dust.
10 (K)The kings of Tarshish and of the isles
Will bring presents;
The kings of Sheba and Seba
Will offer gifts.
11 (L)Yes, all kings shall fall down before Him;
All nations shall serve Him.

12 For He (M)will deliver the needy when he cries,
The poor also, and him who has no helper.
13 He will spare the poor and needy,
And will save the souls of the needy.
14 He will redeem their life from oppression and violence;
And (N)precious shall be their blood in His sight.

15 And He shall live;
And the gold of (O)Sheba will be given to Him;
Prayer also will be made for Him continually,
And daily He shall be praised.

16 There will be an abundance of grain in the earth,
On the top of the mountains;
Its fruit shall wave like Lebanon;
(P)And those of the city shall flourish like grass of the earth.

17 (Q)His name shall endure forever;
His name shall continue as long as the sun.
And (R)men shall be blessed in Him;
(S)All nations shall call Him blessed.

18 (T)Blessed be the Lord God, the God of Israel,
(U)Who only does wondrous things!
19 And (V)blessed be His glorious name forever!
(W)And let the whole earth be filled with His glory.
