For the director of music. Of David. A petition.
1 Hasten, O God, to save me;
come quickly, Lord, to help me.(B)
2 May those who want to take my life(C)
be put to shame and confusion;
may all who desire my ruin
be turned back in disgrace.(D)
3 May those who say to me, “Aha! Aha!”(E)
turn back because of their shame.
4 But may all who seek you(F)
rejoice and be glad(G) in you;
may those who long for your saving help always say,
“The Lord is great!”(H)

2 O Dieu, délivre-moi,
Eternel, hâte-toi ╵de venir à mon aide[b] !
3 Qu’ils soient couverts de honte, ╵remplis de confusion,
ceux qui cherchent ma mort !
Qu’ils battent en retraite, ╵qu’ils soient déshonorés,
ceux qui désirent mon malheur !
4 Qu’ils tournent les talons ╵sous le poids de la honte,
ceux qui ricanent ╵à mon sujet.
5 Mais que tous ceux ╵qui se tournent vers toi
soient débordants de joie, ╵oui, qu’en toi ils se réjouissent.
Et que tous ceux ╵qui aiment ton salut
redisent constamment : ╵« Que Dieu est grand ! »
6 Moi, je suis pauvre et malheureux ;
ô Dieu, viens vite agir en ma faveur,
toi qui es mon secours ╵et mon libérateur.
Eternel, oh, ne tarde pas !
