Psalm 60

Prayer in Difficult Times

For the choir director: according to “The Lily of Testimony.”^[a] A Davidic Miktam for teaching. When he fought with Aram-naharaim and Aram-zobah, and Joab returned and struck Edom in the Valley of Salt, killing 12,000.^(A)

¹God, You have rejected us;
You have broken out^[b] against us;
You have been angry. Restore us!^[c]^(B)
²You have shaken the land and split it open.
Heal its fissures, for it shudders.^(C)
³You have made Your people suffer hardship;
You have given us wine to drink
that made us stagger.^(D)
⁴You have given a signal flag to those who fear You,
so that they can flee before the archers.^[d]^(E)Selah
⁵Save with Your right hand, and answer me,
so that those You love may be rescued.^(F)

⁶God has spoken in His sanctuary:^[e]
“I will triumph! I will divide up Shechem.^(G)
I will apportion the Valley of Succoth.^(H)
⁷Gilead is Mine, Manasseh is Mine,
and Ephraim is My helmet;^(I)
Judah is My scepter.^(J)
⁸Moab is My washbasin.^(K)
I throw My sandal on Edom;^(L)
I shout in triumph over Philistia.”^(M)

⁹Who will bring me to the fortified city?
Who will lead me to Edom?^(N)
¹⁰God, haven’t You rejected us?
God, You do not march out with our armies.^(O)
¹¹Give us aid against the foe,
for human help is worthless.^(P)
¹²With God we will perform valiantly;^(Q)
He will trample our foes.^(R)

60 上帝啊，
你遗弃了我们，
使我们一败涂地；
你曾向我们发怒，
求你现在复兴我们。
²你震动大地，将它撕裂。
求你修补裂口，
因为它要塌陷了。
³你叫我们——你的子民吃尽苦头，
喝了令我们东倒西歪的苦酒。
⁴但你赐给敬畏你的人旗帜，
可以挡住箭羽^[a]。（细拉）
⁵求你应允我们的祷告，
伸出右手帮助我们，
使你所爱的人获救。

⁶上帝在祂的圣所说：
“我要欢然划分示剑，
丈量疏割谷。
⁷基列是我的，
玛拿西也是我的，
以法莲是我的头盔，
犹大是我的权杖。
⁸摩押是我的洗脚盆，
我要把鞋扔给以东，
我要在非利士高唱凯歌。”
⁹谁能带我进入坚固的城池？
谁能领我到以东？
¹⁰上帝啊，你抛弃了我们吗？
不再和我们的军队一同出战了吗？
¹¹求你帮助我们攻打仇敌，
因为人的帮助徒然无益。
¹²我们依靠上帝才能取胜，
祂必把我们的敌人踩在脚下。

For the director of music. To the tune of “The Lily of the Covenant.” A miktam^[b] of David. For teaching. When he fought Aram Naharaim^[c] and Aram Zobah,^[d] and when Joab returned and struck down twelve thousand Edomites in the Valley of Salt.^(B)

¹You have rejected us,^(C) God, and burst upon us;
    you have been angry^(D)—now restore us!^(E)
²You have shaken the land^(F) and torn it open;
    mend its fractures,^(G) for it is quaking.
³You have shown your people desperate times;^(H)
    you have given us wine that makes us stagger.^(I)
⁴But for those who fear you, you have raised a banner^(J)
    to be unfurled against the bow.^[e]

⁵Save us and help us with your right hand,^(K)
    that those you love^(L) may be delivered.
⁶God has spoken from his sanctuary:
    “In triumph I will parcel out Shechem^(M)
    and measure off the Valley of Sukkoth.^(N)
⁷Gilead^(O) is mine, and Manasseh is mine;
    Ephraim^(P) is my helmet,
    Judah^(Q) is my scepter.^(R)
⁸Moab is my washbasin,
    on Edom I toss my sandal;
    over Philistia I shout in triumph.^(S)”

⁹Who will bring me to the fortified city?

    and no longer go out with our armies?^(T)
¹¹Give us aid against the enemy,
    for human help is worthless.^(U)
