58 你们缄默不语，真合公义吗？
你们审判世人，岂按正直吗？
2 不然！你们心中作恶，
量出你们在地上手中的残暴。
3 恶人一出母胎就与 神疏远，
一离母腹就走错路，说谎话。
4 他们的毒气好像蛇的毒气，
他们好像聋的毒蛇塞住耳朵，
5 听不见弄蛇者的声音，
也听不见魔术师的咒语。
6 神啊，求你敲碎他们口中的牙！
耶和华啊，求你敲掉少壮狮子的大牙！
7 愿他们消灭，如急流的水一般；
他们瞄准射箭的时候，箭头仿佛折断。
8 愿他们像蜗牛腐烂消失，
又像妇人流掉的胎儿，未见天日。
9 你们用荆棘烧火，锅还未热，
神就用旋风把未烧着的和已烧着的一齐刮去。
10 义人见仇敌遭报就欢喜，
他要在恶人的血中洗脚。
11 因此，人必说：“义人诚然有善报，
在地上果然有施行审判的 神！”

Psalm 58
1 Voor de leider van het koor. Een prachtig lied van David, op de wijs van: 'Dood mij niet'.
2 Koningen en heersers, zijn jullie wel rechtvaardig?
Spreken jullie inderdaad recht?
3 Nee! Jullie zijn juist kwaad van plan.
Jullie doen allerlei slechte dingen.
4 Mensen die zich niets van God aantrekken,
zijn al vanaf hun geboorte ontrouw aan God.
Ze liegen vanaf de dag dat ze zijn geboren.
5 Hun slechtheid is als slangengif.
Ze zijn zo doof voor God als een slang
6 die niet wil luisteren naar de slangenbezweerder,
al speelt deze nog zo goed op zijn fluit.
7 Ze zijn zo gevaarlijk als leeuwen.
God, maak hen machteloos!
Zorg dat ze niets meer kunnen doen
met hun klauwen en hun tanden!
8 Laat hen helemaal verdwijnen,
zoals water dat wegzakt in de grond.
En als ze op me willen schieten,
breek dan hun pijlen in stukken.
9 Laat hen verdwijnen, als een slak waar je zout op strooit.
Laat hen sterven, als een te vroeg geboren kind.
10 Hij blaast hen weg, zoals doorntakken onder een pot
worden weggeblazen door de wind.
Hij blaast ze weg, zowel de groene als de dorre takken,
vóórdat de pot op het vuur de hitte heeft kunnen voelen.
11 De mensen die leven zoals U het wil, zullen blij zijn
als ze zien hoe U de slechte mensen straft:
ze zullen door het bloed kunnen waden!
12 Ze zullen zeggen:
"Er is dus tóch een beloning
voor de mensen die leven zoals God het wil.
Er is dus tóch een rechtvaardige God!"

1 Do you rulers indeed speak justly?(A)
Do you judge people with equity?
2 No, in your heart you devise injustice,(B)
and your hands mete out violence on the earth.(C)
3 Even from birth the wicked go astray;
from the womb they are wayward, spreading lies.
4 Their venom is like the venom of a snake,(D)
like that of a cobra that has stopped its ears,
5 that will not heed(E) the tune of the charmer,(F)
however skillful the enchanter may be.
6 Break the teeth in their mouths, O God;(G)
Lord, tear out the fangs of those lions!(H)
7 Let them vanish like water that flows away;(I)
when they draw the bow, let their arrows fall short.(J)
8 May they be like a slug that melts away as it moves along,(K)
like a stillborn child(L) that never sees the sun.
9 Before your pots can feel the heat of the thorns(M)—
whether they be green or dry—the wicked will be swept away.[c](N)
10 The righteous will be glad(O) when they are avenged,(P)
when they dip their feet in the blood of the wicked.(Q)
11 Then people will say,
“Surely the righteous still are rewarded;(R)
surely there is a God who judges the earth.”(S)

58 Do ye indeed speak righteousness, O congregation? do ye judge uprightly, O ye sons of men?
2 Yea, in heart ye work wickedness; ye weigh the violence of your hands in the earth.
3 The wicked are estranged from the womb: they go astray as soon as they be born, speaking lies.
4 Their poison is like the poison of a serpent: they are like the deaf adder that stoppeth her ear;
5 Which will not hearken to the voice of charmers, charming never so wisely.
6 Break their teeth, O God, in their mouth: break out the great teeth of the young lions, O Lord.
7 Let them melt away as waters which run continually: when he bendeth his bow to shoot his arrows, let them be as cut in pieces.
8 As a snail which melteth, let every one of them pass away: like the untimely birth of a woman, that they may not see the sun.
9 Before your pots can feel the thorns, he shall take them away as with a whirlwind, both living, and in his wrath.
10 The righteous shall rejoice when he seeth the vengeance: he shall wash his feet in the blood of the wicked.
11 So that a man shall say, Verily there is a reward for the righteous: verily he is a God that judgeth in the earth.
