Psalm 50

The Acceptable Sacrifice
A Psalm of Asaph.
50 The Mighty One, God the Lord,
speaks and summons the earth
from the rising of the sun to its setting.
2 Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty,
God shines forth.
3 Our God comes, he does not keep silence,
before him is a devouring fire,
round about him a mighty tempest.
4 He calls to the heavens above
and to the earth, that he may judge his people:
5 “Gather to me my faithful ones,
who made a covenant with me by sacrifice!”
6 The heavens declare his righteousness,
for God himself is judge!Selah
7 “Hear, O my people, and I will speak,
O Israel, I will testify against you.
I am God, your God.
8 I do not reprove you for your sacrifices;
your burnt offerings are continually before me.
9 I will accept no bull from your house,
nor he-goat from your folds.
10 For every beast of the forest is mine,
the cattle on a thousand hills.
11 I know all the birds of the air,[a]
and all that moves in the field is mine.
12 “If I were hungry, I would not tell you;
for the world and all that is in it is mine.
13 Do I eat the flesh of bulls,
or drink the blood of goats?
14 Offer to God a sacrifice of thanksgiving,[b]
and pay your vows to the Most High;
15 and call upon me in the day of trouble;
I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me.”
16 But to the wicked God says:
“What right have you to recite my statutes,
or take my covenant on your lips?
17 For you hate discipline,
and you cast my words behind you.
18 If you see a thief, you are a friend of his;
and you keep company with adulterers.
19 “You give your mouth free rein for evil,
and your tongue frames deceit.
20 You sit and speak against your brother;
you slander your own mother’s son.
21 These things you have done and I have been silent;
you thought that I was one like yourself.
But now I rebuke you, and lay the charge before you.
22 “Mark this, then, you who forget God,
lest I rend, and there be none to deliver!
23 He who brings thanksgiving as his sacrifice honors me;
to him who orders his way aright
I will show the salvation of God!”

50 «Salmo di Asaf.» Il DIO onnipotente, l'Eterno ha parlato e ha convocato la terra da oriente a occidente.
2 Da Sion, la perfezione della bellezza, DIO risplende.
3 Il nostro DIO verrà e non se ne starà in silenzio; lo precederà un fuoco divorante, e intorno a lui ci sarà una grande tempesta.
4 Egli convocherà i cieli di sopra e la terra, per giudicare il suo popolo,
5 e dirà: «Radunatemi i miei santi che hanno fatto con me un patto mediante il sacrificio».
6 E i cieli proclameranno la sua giustizia, perché è DIO stesso il giudice. (Sela)
7 «Ascolta, o popolo mio, e io parlerò; ascolta o Israele, e io testimonierò contro di te, sono DIO, il tuo DIO.
8 Non ti riprenderò per i tuoi sacrifici, né per i tuoi olocausti che mi stanno sempre davanti.
9 Non prenderò alcun torello dalla tua casa né capri dai tuoi ovili.
10 Mie infatti sono tutte le bestie della foresta; mio è il bestiame che sta a migliaia sui monti.
11 Conosco tutti gli uccelli dei monti; e tutto ciò che si muove nei campi è mio
12 Se avessi fame, non te lo direi; perché il mondo e quanto esso contiene è mio.
13 Mangio forse carne di tori, o bevo sangue di capri?
14 Offri a DIO sacrifici di lode e adempi i tuoi voti fatti all'Altissimo.
15 Invocami nel giorno dell'avversità, io ti libererò e tu mi glorificherai».
16 Ma all'empio DIO dice: «Che diritto hai di elencare i miei statuti e di avere sulle labbra il mio patto,
17 tu che detesti la correzione e getti le mie parole dietro le spalle?
18 Se vedi un ladro, ti metti con lui volentieri, e ti fai compagno degli adulteri.
19 Abbandoni la tua bocca al male, e la tua lingua ordisce inganni.
20 Tu siedi, parli contro il tuo fratello e diffami il figlio di tua madre.
21 Tu hai fatto queste cose, e io ho taciuto, tu hai pensato che io fossi del tutto simile a te. Ma io ti risponderò, e ti metterò ogni cosa davanti agli occhi.
22 Ora comprendete questo voi che dimenticate DIO, perché io non vi faccia a brandelli senza che alcuno vi liberi.
23 Chi offre sacrifici di lode mi glorifica, e a chi si comporta rettamente gli mostrerò la salvezza, di DIO».?
