流落异乡者的祷告

可拉后裔作的训诲诗，交给乐长。

42 上帝啊，我的心切慕你，
像鹿切慕溪水。
2 我心里渴慕上帝，
渴慕永活的上帝，
我何时才能去朝拜祂呢？
3 我不吃不喝，昼夜以泪洗面，
人们整天讥笑我：
“你的上帝在哪里？”
4 从前我带领众人浩浩荡荡去上帝的殿，
在欢呼、感恩声中一起过节。
我回想这些事，
心中无限忧伤。
5 我的心啊！
你为何沮丧？为何烦躁？
要仰望上帝，
因为我还要赞美祂——我的救主，我的上帝。

6 我的上帝啊，我心中沮丧，
便在约旦河、黑门山和米萨山想起你。
7 你的瀑布发出巨响，
回荡在深渊之间，
你的洪涛巨浪淹没我。
8 白天耶和华将祂的慈爱浇灌我；
夜间我歌颂祂，
向赐我生命的上帝祷告。
9 我对上帝——我的磐石说：
“你为何忘记我？
为何要我受仇敌的攻击，使我哀伤不已呢？”
10 仇敌的辱骂刺骨钻心。
他们整天对我说：
“你的上帝在哪里？”
11 我的心啊！
你为何沮丧？为何烦躁？
要仰望上帝，
因为我还要赞美祂——我的救主，我的上帝。

Longing for the Temple

1 As a doe pants for streams of water,
so my soul pants for you, O God.
2 My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.
When can I go and appear before God?[d]
3 My tears have been food for me day and night,
while people are saying to me all day,
“Where is your God?”

4 I am overcome by my emotions
whenever I remember these things:
    how I used to arrive with the crowd,
    as I led the procession to the house of God,
    with loud shouts of thanksgiving,
    with the crowd celebrating the festival.

Refrain

5 Why are you so depressed,[e] O my soul?
Why so disturbed within me?
Hope in God, for I will again praise him
    for salvation from his presence.[f]

Remembrance of the Lord

6 My God, my soul is depressed within me.
Therefore I will remember you from the land of the Jordan,
from the heights of Hermon, from Mount Mizar.
7 Deep calls to deep in the roar of your rapids.
All your breakers and your waves have swept over me.
8 By day the Lord commands his mercy,
and at night his song is with me—a prayer to the God of my life.
9 I say to God my Rock, “Why have you forgotten me?
Why must I go around mourning because of oppression by the enemy?”
10 It is like breaking my bones when my foes taunt me.
All day long they say to me, “Where is your God?”

Refrain

11 Why are you so depressed, O my soul?
Why so disturbed within me?
Hope in God, for I will again praise him
    for my salvation from the face of my God.[g]

  1. Psalm 42:1 These two psalms are treated as a unit since they are united by a common theme, a common refrain, and a single heading.
  2. Psalm 42:1 Maskil is a musical term of uncertain meaning. It may be a skillful song or a song that gives wisdom. This form is used also in Psalms 44 and 45.
  3. Psalm 42:1 The Sons of Korah were a group of levitical musicians, who apparently were descendants of the Korah who rebelled against Moses. In this section of Psalms, Psalms 42–49 were written by them.
  4. Psalm 42:2 A different reading of the Hebrew verb yields the translation see the face of God.
  5. Psalm 42:5 Literally bowed down or cast down
  6. Psalm 42:5 Many translations emend this verse to agree with verses 42:11 and 43:5.
  7. Psalm 42:11 Literally the salvation of my face and my God

Den bedrövades längtan efter Gud

1 För sångmästaren, en sång av Koras söner.

2 Som hjorten trängtar efter vattenbäckar,
så trängtar min själ efter dig, o Gud.
3 Min själ törstar efter Gud,
    efter den levande Guden.
När får jag komma och träda fram inför Guds ansikte?
4 Mina tårar är min mat
    dag och natt,
ty ständigt säger man till mig:
    "Var är nu din Gud?"
5 Detta vill jag tänka på
    när jag utgjuter min själ:
Jag gick i folkhopen,
    vandrade med den till Guds hus
under jubelrop och tacksägelse,
    en högtidsfirande skara.

6 Varför är du så bedrövad, min själ,
och så orolig i mig?
    Sätt ditt hopp till Gud.
Jag skall åter få tacka honom
    för frälsning genom honom.

7 Min Gud, min själ är bedrövad i mig.
Därför tänker jag på dig
    i Jordans land och på Hermons höjder,
på Misars berg.
8 Djup ropar till djup
    vid dånet av dina vattenfall.
Alla dina svallande böljor
    går fram över mig.

9 Om dagen sänder Herren sin nåd
    och om natten är hans sång hos mig,
en lovsång till mitt livs Gud.
10 Jag vill säga till Gud, min klippa:
    "Varför har du glömt mig,
varför måste jag gå sörjande,
    ansatt av fiender?"
11 Det är som krossade man benen i min kropp,
när mina ovänner hånar mig
    och ständigt säger till mig:
"Var är nu din Gud?"

12 Varför är du så bedrövad, min själ,
och varför så orolig i mig?
    Sätt ditt hopp till Gud,
ty jag skall åter få tacka honom,
    min frälsning och min Gud.

3 My tears(G) have been my food

    under the protection of the Mighty One[d]
