2 Ho sperato: ho sperato nel Signore
ed egli su di me si è chinato,
ha dato ascolto al mio grido.
3 Mi ha tratto dalla fossa della morte,
dal fango della palude;
i miei piedi ha stabilito sulla roccia,
ha reso sicuri i miei passi.
4 Mi ha messo sulla bocca un canto nuovo,
lode al nostro Dio.
Molti vedranno e avranno timore
e confideranno nel Signore.
5 Beato l'uomo che spera nel Signore
e non si mette dalla parte dei superbi,
né si volge a chi segue la menzogna.
6 Quanti prodigi tu hai fatto, Signore Dio mio,
quali disegni in nostro favore:
nessuno a te si può paragonare.
Se li voglio annunziare e proclamare
sono troppi per essere contati.
7 Sacrificio e offerta non gradisci,
gli orecchi mi hai aperto.
Non hai chiesto olocausto e vittima per la colpa.
8 Allora ho detto: «Ecco, io vengo.
Sul rotolo del libro di me è scritto,
9 che io faccia il tuo volere.
Mio Dio, questo io desidero,
la tua legge è nel profondo del mio cuore».
10 Ho annunziato la tua giustizia nella grande assemblea;
vedi, non tengo chiuse le labbra, Signore, tu lo sai.
11 Non ho nascosto la tua giustizia in fondo al cuore,
la tua fedeltà e la tua salvezza ho proclamato.
Non ho nascosto la tua grazia
e la tua fedeltà alla grande assemblea.
12 Non rifiutarmi, Signore, la tua misericordia,
la tua fedeltà e la tua grazia
mi proteggano sempre,
13 poiché mi circondano mali senza numero,
le mie colpe mi opprimono
e non posso più vedere.
Sono più dei capelli del mio capo,
il mio cuore viene meno.
14 Degnati, Signore, di liberarmi;
accorri, Signore, in mio aiuto.
15 Vergogna e confusione
per quanti cercano di togliermi la vita.
Retrocedano coperti d'infamia
quelli che godono della mia sventura.
16 Siano presi da tremore e da vergogna
quelli che mi scherniscono.
17 Esultino e gioiscano in te quanti ti cercano,
dicano sempre: «Il Signore è grande»
quelli che bramano la tua salvezza.
18 Io sono povero e infelice;
di me ha cura il Signore.

40 我曾耐心等候耶和華，

2 祂把我從絕望的深淵拉出來，
救我脫離泥濘沼澤，
把我安置在磐石上，
使我步履穩健。
3 祂賜給我一首新歌，
一首讚美我們上帝的詩歌。
許多人看見便敬畏、信靠耶和華。
4 信靠耶和華的人有福了！
他們不隨從驕傲自大、信靠假神的人。
5 我的上帝耶和華啊，
你行了許多奇事，
為我們定了許多美好的計劃，
誰能與你相比！
你奇妙的作為不可勝數。
6 祭物和供品非你所悅，
你開通了我的耳朵，
燔祭和贖罪祭非你所要。
7 於是我說：
「看啊，我來了，

1 I waited patiently(B) for the Lord;
he turned to me and heard my cry.(C)
2 He lifted me out of the slimy pit,(D)
out of the mud(E) and mire;(F)
he set my feet(G) on a rock(H)
and gave me a firm place to stand.
3 He put a new song(I) in my mouth,
a hymn of praise to our God.
Many will see and fear the Lord(J)
and put their trust(K) in him.
4 Blessed is the one(L)
who trusts in the Lord,(M)
who does not look to the proud,(N)
to those who turn aside to false gods.[b](O)
5 Many, Lord my God,
are the wonders(P) you have done,
the things you planned for us.
None can compare(Q) with you;
were I to speak and tell of your deeds,
they would be too many(R) to declare.
6 Sacrifice and offering you did not desire—(S)
but my ears you have opened[c]—(T)
burnt offerings(U) and sin offerings[d] you did not require.
7 Then I said, “Here I am, I have come—
it is written about me in the scroll.[e](V)
8 I desire to do your will,(W) my God;(X)
your law is within my heart.”(Y)
9 I proclaim your saving acts(Z) in the great assembly;(AA)
I do not seal my lips, Lord,
as you know.(AB)
10 I do not hide your righteousness in my heart;
I speak of your faithfulness(AC) and your saving help.
I do not conceal your love and your faithfulness
from the great assembly.(AD)
11 Do not withhold your mercy(AE) from me, Lord;
may your love(AF) and faithfulness(AG) always protect(AH) me.
12 For troubles(AI) without number surround me;
my sins have overtaken me, and I cannot see.(AJ)
They are more than the hairs of my head,(AK)
and my heart fails(AL) within me.
13 Be pleased to save me, Lord;
come quickly, Lord, to help me.(AM)
14 May all who want to take my life(AN)
be put to shame and confusion;(AO)
may all who desire my ruin(AP)
be turned back in disgrace.
15 May those who say to me, “Aha! Aha!”(AQ)
be appalled at their own shame.
16 But may all who seek you(AR)
rejoice and be glad(AS) in you;
may those who long for your saving help always say,
“The Lord is great!”(AT)

40 I waited patiently for the Lord; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.
2 He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.
3 And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the Lord.
4 Blessed is that man that maketh the Lord his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.
5 Many, O Lord my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.
6 Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire; mine ears hast thou opened: burnt offering and sin offering hast thou not required.
7 Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me,
8 I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart.
9 I have preached righteousness in the great congregation: lo, I have not refrained my lips, O Lord, thou knowest.
10 I have not hid thy righteousness within my heart; I have declared thy faithfulness and thy salvation: I have not concealed thy lovingkindness and thy truth from the great congregation.
11 Withhold not thou thy tender mercies from me, O Lord: let thy lovingkindness and thy truth continually preserve me.
12 For innumerable evils have compassed me about: mine iniquities have taken hold upon me, so that I am not able to look up; they are more than the hairs of mine head: therefore my heart faileth me.
13 Be pleased, O Lord, to deliver me: O Lord, make haste to help me.
14 Let them be ashamed and confounded together that seek after my soul to destroy it; let them be driven backward and put to shame that wish me evil.
15 Let them be desolate for a reward of their shame that say unto me, Aha, aha.
16 Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: let such as love thy salvation say continually, The Lord be magnified.
17 But I am poor and needy; yet the Lord thinketh upon me: thou art my help and my deliverer; make no tarrying, O my God.
