Psalm 40
Living Bible
40 I waited patiently for God to help me; then he listened and heard my cry. 2 He lifted me out of the pit of despair, out from the bog and the mire, and set my feet on a hard, firm path, and steadied me as I walked along. 3 He has given me a new song to sing, of praises to our God. Now many will hear of the glorious things he did for me, and stand in awe before the Lord, and put their trust in him. 4 Many blessings are given to those who trust the Lord and have no confidence in those who are proud or who trust in idols.
5 O Lord my God, many and many a time you have done great miracles for us, and we are ever in your thoughts. Who else can do such glorious things? No one else can be compared with you. There isn’t time to tell of all your wonderful deeds.
6 It isn’t sacrifices and offerings that you really want from your people. Burnt animals bring no special joy to your heart. But you have accepted the offer of my lifelong service.[a] 7 Then I[b] said, “See, I have come, just as all the prophets foretold. 8 And I delight to do your will, my God, for your law is written upon my heart!”
9 I have told everyone the good news that you forgive people’s sins.[c] I have not been timid about it, as you well know, O Lord. 10 I have not kept this good news hidden in my heart, but have proclaimed your loving-kindness and truth to all the congregation.
11 O Lord, don’t hold back your tender mercies from me! My only hope is in your love and faithfulness. 12 Otherwise I perish, for problems far too big for me to solve are piled higher than my head. Meanwhile my sins, too many to count, have all caught up with me, and I am ashamed to look up. My heart quails within me.
13 Please, Lord, rescue me! Quick! Come and help me! 14-15 Confuse them! Turn them around and send them sprawling—all these who are trying to destroy me. Disgrace these scoffers with their utter failure!
16 But may the joy of the Lord be given to everyone who loves him and his salvation. May they constantly exclaim, “How great God is!”
17 I am poor and weak, yet the Lord is thinking about me right now! O my God, you are my helper. You are my Savior; come quickly, and save me. Please don’t delay!

Salmos 40
Dios Habla Hoy
Me agrada hacer tu voluntad, Dios mío(A)
(1) Del maestro de coro. Salmo de David.
40 (2) Puse mi esperanza en el Señor,
y él se inclinó para escuchar mis gritos;
2 (3) me salvó de la fosa mortal,
me libró de hundirme en el pantano.
Afirmó mis pies sobre una roca;
dio firmeza a mis pisadas.
ni en las ofrendas de cereales;
tampoco has pedido holocaustos
ni ofrendas para quitar el pecado.
En cambio, me has abierto los oídos.
7 (8) Por eso he dicho: Aquí estoy,
tal como el libro dice de mí.
8 (9) A mí me agrada hacer tu voluntad, Dios mío;
¡Tú bien sabes, Señor, que no he guardado silencio!
10 (11) No me he quedado callado acerca de tu justicia;
he hablado de tu fidelidad y salvación.
Jamás he ocultado tu amor y tu verdad
ante tu pueblo numeroso.
11 (12) Y tú, Señor, ¡no me niegues tu ternura!
¡Que siempre me protejan tu amor y tu fidelidad!
12 (13) Pues me han pasado tantas desgracias
que ni siquiera las puedo contar.
Me han atrapado mis propias maldades;
se llenen de alegría;
que cuantos desean tu salvación
digan siempre: «¡El Señor es grande!»
17 (18) Y a mí, que estoy pobre y afligido,
no me olvides, Señor.
Tú eres quien me ayuda y me liberta;
¡no te tardes, Dios mío!
Salmos 40

Alabanza por la liberación divina
(Sal. 70.1-5)
Al músico principal. Salmo de David.
40 Pacientemente esperé a Jehová,
Y se inclinó a mí, y oyó mi clamor.
2 Y me hizo sacar del pozo de la desesperación, del lodo cenagoso;
5 Has aumentado, oh Jehová Dios mío, tus maravillas;
Y tus pensamientos para con nosotros,
No es posible contarlos ante ti.
Si yo anunciare y hablare de ellos,
No pueden ser enumerados.
6 Sacrificio y ofrenda no te agrada;
Has abierto mis oídos;
Holocausto y expiación no has demandado.
7 Entonces dije: He aquí, vengo;
En el rollo del libro está escrito de mí;
9 He anunciado justicia en grande congregación;
He aquí, no refrené mis labios,
Jehová, tú lo sabes.
10 No encubrí tu justicia dentro de mi corazón;
He publicado tu fidelidad y tu salvación;
No oculté tu misericordia y tu verdad en grande asamblea.
11 Jehová, no retengas de mí tus misericordias;
Tu misericordia y tu verdad me guarden siempre.
12 Porque me han rodeado males sin número;
13 Quieras, oh Jehová, librarme;
Jehová, apresúrate a socorrerme.
14 Sean avergonzados y confundidos a una
Los que buscan mi vida para destruirla.
Vuelvan atrás y avergüéncense
Los que mi mal desean;
17 Aunque afligido yo y necesitado,
Jehová pensará en mí.
Mi ayuda y mi libertador eres tú;
Dios mío, no te tardes.

2 He lifted me out of the slimy pit,(D)
out of the mud(E) and mire;(F)
he set my feet(G) on a rock(H)

3 He put a new song(I) in my mouth,
a hymn of praise to our God.
Many will see and fear the Lord(J)
and put their trust(K) in him.
4 Blessed is the one(L)
who trusts in the Lord,(M)
who does not look to the proud,(N)
to those who turn aside to false gods.[b](O)
5 Many, Lord my God,
are the wonders(P) you have done,
the things you planned for us.
None can compare(Q) with you;
were I to speak and tell of your deeds,
they would be too many(R) to declare.
6 Sacrifice and offering you did not desire—(S)
but my ears you have opened[c]—(T)
burnt offerings(U) and sin offerings[d] you did not require.
7 Then I said, “Here I am, I have come—
it is written about me in the scroll.[e](V)
8 I desire to do your will,(W) my God;(X)
your law is within my heart.”(Y)
9 I proclaim your saving acts(Z) in the great assembly;(AA)
I do not seal my lips, Lord,
as you know.(AB)
10 I do not hide your righteousness in my heart;
I speak of your faithfulness(AC) and your saving help.
I do not conceal your love and your faithfulness
from the great assembly.(AD)
11 Do not withhold your mercy(AE) from me, Lord;
may your love(AF) and faithfulness(AG) always protect(AH) me.
12 For troubles(AI) without number surround me;
my sins have overtaken me, and I cannot see.(AJ)
They are more than the hairs of my head,(AK)
and my heart fails(AL) within me.
13 Be pleased to save me, Lord;
come quickly, Lord, to help me.(AM)
14 May all who want to take my life(AN)
be put to shame and confusion;(AO)
may all who desire my ruin(AP)
be turned back in disgrace.
15 May those who say to me, “Aha! Aha!”(AQ)
be appalled at their own shame.
16 But may all who seek you(AR)
rejoice and be glad(AS) in you;
may those who long for your saving help always say,
“The Lord is great!”(AT)

Psalm 40
King James Version
40 I waited patiently for the Lord; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.
2 He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.
3 And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the Lord.
4 Blessed is that man that maketh the Lord his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.
5 Many, O Lord my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.
6 Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire; mine ears hast thou opened: burnt offering and sin offering hast thou not required.
7 Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me,
8 I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart.
9 I have preached righteousness in the great congregation: lo, I have not refrained my lips, O Lord, thou knowest.
10 I have not hid thy righteousness within my heart; I have declared thy faithfulness and thy salvation: I have not concealed thy lovingkindness and thy truth from the great congregation.
11 Withhold not thou thy tender mercies from me, O Lord: let thy lovingkindness and thy truth continually preserve me.
12 For innumerable evils have compassed me about: mine iniquities have taken hold upon me, so that I am not able to look up; they are more than the hairs of mine head: therefore my heart faileth me.
13 Be pleased, O Lord, to deliver me: O Lord, make haste to help me.
14 Let them be ashamed and confounded together that seek after my soul to destroy it; let them be driven backward and put to shame that wish me evil.
15 Let them be desolate for a reward of their shame that say unto me, Aha, aha.
16 Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: let such as love thy salvation say continually, The Lord be magnified.
17 But I am poor and needy; yet the Lord thinketh upon me: thou art my help and my deliverer; make no tarrying, O my God.
