37 大卫的诗。
1 不要为作恶的心怀不平，也不要向那行不义的生出嫉妒。
2 因为他们如草快被割下，又如青菜快要枯干。
3 你当倚靠耶和华而行善，住在地上，以他的信实为粮。
4 又要以耶和华为乐，他就将你心里所求的赐给你。
5 当将你的事交托耶和华，并倚靠他，他就必成全。
6 他要使你的公义如光发出，使你的公平明如正午。
7 你当默然倚靠耶和华，耐性等候他，不要因那道路通达的和那恶谋成就的心怀不平。
8 当止住怒气，离弃愤怒，不要心怀不平，以致作恶。
9 因为作恶的必被剪除，唯有等候耶和华的必承受地土。
10 还有片时，恶人要归于无有，你就是细察他的住处，也要归于无有。
11 但谦卑人必承受地土，以丰盛的平安为乐。
12 恶人设谋害义人，又向他咬牙。
13 主要笑他，因见他受罚的日子将要来到。
14 恶人已经弓上弦，刀出鞘，要打倒困苦穷乏的人，要杀害行动正直的人。
15 他们的刀必刺入自己的心，他们的弓必被折断。
16 一个义人所有的虽少，强过许多恶人的富余。
17 因为恶人的膀臂必被折断，但耶和华是扶持义人。
恃主者之安稳
18 耶和华知道完全人的日子，他们的产业要存到永远。
19 他们在急难的时候不致羞愧，在饥荒的日子必得饱足。
20 恶人却要灭亡，耶和华的仇敌要像羊羔的脂油[a]，他们要消灭，要如烟消灭。
21 恶人借贷而不偿还，义人却恩待人，并且施舍。
22 蒙耶和华赐福的必承受地土，被他咒诅的必被剪除。
23 义人的脚步被耶和华立定，他的道路耶和华也喜爱。
24 他虽失脚，也不至全身仆倒，因为耶和华用手搀扶他[b]。
25 我从前年幼，现在年老，却未见过义人被弃，也未见过他的后裔讨饭。
26 他终日恩待人，借给人，他的后裔也蒙福。
27 你当离恶行善，就可永远安居。
28 因为耶和华喜爱公平，不撇弃他的圣民，他们永蒙保佑，但恶人的后裔必被剪除。
29 义人必承受地土，永居其上。
30 义人的口谈论智慧，他的舌头讲说公平。
31 神的律法在他心里，他的脚总不滑跌。
32 恶人窥探义人，想要杀他。
33 耶和华必不撇他在恶人手中，当审判的时候，也不定他的罪。
34 你当等候耶和华，遵守他的道，他就抬举你，使你承受地土，恶人被剪除的时候，你必看见。
35 我见过恶人大有势力，好像一根青翠树在本土生发。
36 有人从那里经过，不料，他没有了；我也寻找他，却寻不着。
37 你要细察那完全人，观看那正直人，因为和平人有好结局。
38 至于犯法的人，必一同灭绝，恶人终必剪除。
39 但义人得救，是由于耶和华，他在患难时做他们的营寨。
40 耶和华帮助他们，解救他们。他解救他们脱离恶人，把他们救出来，因为他们投靠他。

37 Di Davide.
Non adirarti contro gli empi
non invidiare i malfattori.
2 Come fieno presto appassiranno,
cadranno come erba del prato.
3 Confida nel Signore e fà il bene;
abita la terra e vivi con fede.
4 Cerca la gioia del Signore,
esaudirà i desideri del tuo cuore.
5 Manifesta al Signore la tua via,
confida in lui: compirà la sua opera;
6 farà brillare come luce la tua giustizia,
come il meriggio il tuo diritto.
7 Stà in silenzio davanti al Signore e spera in lui;
non irritarti per chi ha successo,
per l'uomo che trama insidie.
8 Desisti dall'ira e deponi lo sdegno,
non irritarti: faresti del male,
9 poiché i malvagi saranno sterminati,
ma chi spera nel Signore possederà la terra.
10 Ancora un poco e l'empio scompare,
cerchi il suo posto e più non lo trovi.
11 I miti invece possederanno la terra
e godranno di una grande pace.
12 L'empio trama contro il giusto,
contro di lui digrigna i denti.
13 Ma il Signore ride dell'empio,
perché vede arrivare il suo giorno.
14 Gli empi sfoderano la spada
e tendono l'arco
per abbattere il misero e l'indigente,
per uccidere chi cammina sulla retta via.
15 La loro spada raggiungerà il loro cuore
e i loro archi si spezzeranno.
16 Il poco del giusto è cosa migliore
dell'abbondanza degli empi;
17 perché le braccia degli empi saranno spezzate,
ma il Signore è il sostegno dei giusti.
18 Conosce il Signore la vita dei buoni,
la loro eredità durerà per sempre.
19 Non saranno confusi nel tempo della sventura
e nei giorni della fame saranno saziati.
20 Poiché gli empi periranno,
i nemici del Signore appassiranno
come lo splendore dei prati,
tutti come fumo svaniranno.
21 L'empio prende in prestito e non restituisce,
ma il giusto ha compassione e dà in dono.
22 Chi è benedetto da Dio possederà la terra,
ma chi è maledetto sarà sterminato.
23 Il Signore fa sicuri i passi dell'uomo
e segue con amore il suo cammino.
24 Se cade, non rimane a terra,
perché il Signore lo tiene per mano.
25 Sono stato fanciullo e ora sono vecchio,
non ho mai visto il giusto abbandonato
né i suoi figli mendicare il pane.
26 Egli ha sempre compassione e dà in prestito,
per questo la sua stirpe è benedetta.
27 Stà lontano dal male e fà il bene,
e avrai sempre una casa.
28 Perché il Signore ama la giustizia
e non abbandona i suoi fedeli;
gli empi saranno distrutti per sempre
e la loro stirpe sarà sterminata.
29 I giusti possederanno la terra
e la abiteranno per sempre.
30 La bocca del giusto proclama la sapienza,
e la sua lingua esprime la giustizia;
31 la legge del suo Dio è nel suo cuore,
i suoi passi non vacilleranno.
32 L'empio spia il giusto
e cerca di farlo morire.
33 Il Signore non lo abbandona alla sua mano,
nel giudizio non lo lascia condannare.
34 Spera nel Signore e segui la sua via:
ti esalterà e tu possederai la terra
e vedrai lo sterminio degli empi.
35 Ho visto l'empio trionfante
ergersi come cedro rigoglioso;
36 sono passato e più non c'era,
l'ho cercato e più non si è trovato.
37 Osserva il giusto e vedi l'uomo retto,
l'uomo di pace avrà una discendenza.
38 Ma tutti i peccatori saranno distrutti,
la discendenza degli empi sarà sterminata.
39 La salvezza dei giusti viene dal Signore,
nel tempo dell'angoscia è loro difesa;
40 il Signore viene in loro aiuto e li scampa,
li libera dagli empi e dà loro salvezza,
perché in lui si sono rifugiati.

1 Do not fret because of those who are evil
or be envious(A) of those who do wrong;(B)
2 for like the grass they will soon wither,(C)
like green plants they will soon die away.(D)
3 Trust in the Lord and do good;
dwell in the land(E) and enjoy safe pasture.(F)
4 Take delight(G) in the Lord,
and he will give you the desires of your heart.(H)
5 Commit your way to the Lord;
trust in him(I) and he will do this:
6 He will make your righteous reward(J) shine like the dawn,(K)
your vindication like the noonday sun.
7 Be still(L) before the Lord
and wait patiently(M) for him;
do not fret(N) when people succeed in their ways,(O)
when they carry out their wicked schemes.(P)
8 Refrain from anger(Q) and turn from wrath;
do not fret(R)—it leads only to evil.
9 For those who are evil will be destroyed,(S)
but those who hope(T) in the Lord will inherit the land.(U)
10 A little while, and the wicked will be no more;(V)
though you look for them, they will not be found.
11 But the meek will inherit the land(W)
and enjoy peace and prosperity.(X)
12 The wicked plot(Y) against the righteous
and gnash their teeth(Z) at them;
13 but the Lord laughs at the wicked,
for he knows their day is coming.(AA)
14 The wicked draw the sword(AB)
and bend the bow(AC)
to bring down the poor and needy,(AD)
to slay those whose ways are upright.
15 But their swords will pierce their own hearts,(AE)
and their bows will be broken.(AF)
16 Better the little that the righteous have
than the wealth(AG) of many wicked;
17 for the power of the wicked will be broken,(AH)
but the Lord upholds(AI) the righteous.
18 The blameless spend their days under the Lord’s care,(AJ)
and their inheritance will endure forever.(AK)
19 In times of disaster they will not wither;
in days of famine they will enjoy plenty.
20 But the wicked will perish:(AL)
Though the Lord’s enemies are like the flowers of the field,
they will be consumed, they will go up in smoke.(AM)
21 The wicked borrow and do not repay,
but the righteous give generously;(AN)
22 those the Lord blesses will inherit the land,
but those he curses(AO) will be destroyed.(AP)
23 The Lord makes firm the steps(AQ)
of the one who delights(AR) in him;
24 though he may stumble, he will not fall,(AS)
for the Lord upholds(AT) him with his hand.
25 I was young and now I am old,
yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken(AU)
or their children begging(AV) bread.
26 They are always generous and lend freely;(AW)
their children will be a blessing.[b](AX)
27 Turn from evil and do good;(AY)
then you will dwell in the land forever.(AZ)
28 For the Lord loves the just
and will not forsake his faithful ones.(BA)
Wrongdoers will be completely destroyed[c];
the offspring of the wicked will perish.(BB)
29 The righteous will inherit the land(BC)
and dwell in it forever.(BD)
30 The mouths of the righteous utter wisdom,(BE)
and their tongues speak what is just.
31 The law of their God is in their hearts;(BF)
their feet do not slip.(BG)
32 The wicked lie in wait(BH) for the righteous,(BI)
intent on putting them to death;
33 but the Lord will not leave them in the power of the wicked
or let them be condemned(BJ) when brought to trial.(BK)
34 Hope in the Lord(BL)
and keep his way.(BM)
He will exalt you to inherit the land;
when the wicked are destroyed,(BN) you will see(BO) it.
35 I have seen a wicked and ruthless man
flourishing(BP) like a luxuriant native tree,
36 but he soon passed away and was no more;
though I looked for him, he could not be found.(BQ)
