Psalm 32
King James Version
32 Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.
2 Blessed is the man unto whom the Lord imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile.
3 When I kept silence, my bones waxed old through my roaring all the day long.
4 For day and night thy hand was heavy upon me: my moisture is turned into the drought of summer. Selah.
5 I acknowledge my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the Lord; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah.
6 For this shall every one that is godly pray unto thee in a time when thou mayest be found: surely in the floods of great waters they shall not come nigh unto him.
7 Thou art my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance. Selah.
8 I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.
9 Be ye not as the horse, or as the mule, which have no understanding: whose mouth must be held in with bit and bridle, lest they come near unto thee.
10 Many sorrows shall be to the wicked: but he that trusteth in the Lord, mercy shall compass him about.
11 Be glad in the Lord, and rejoice, ye righteous: and shout for joy, all ye that are upright in heart.

The Joy of Forgiveness

32 Blessed is he whose (A)transgression is forgiven,
Whose sin is covered.
2 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord (B)does not [b]impute iniquity,
And (C)in whose spirit there is no deceit.
3 When I kept silent, my bones grew old
Through my groaning all the day long.
4 For day and night Your (D)hand was heavy upon me;
My vitality was turned into the drought of summer. Selah
5 I acknowledged my sin to You,
And my iniquity I have not hidden.
(E)I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord,”
And You forgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah
6 (F)For this cause everyone who is godly shall (G)pray to You
In a time when You may be found;
Surely in a flood of great waters
They shall not come near him.
7 (H)You are my hiding place;
You shall preserve me from trouble;
You shall surround me with (I)songs of deliverance. Selah
8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
I will guide you with My eye.
9 Do not be like the (J)horse or like the mule,
Which have no understanding,
Which must be harnessed with bit and bridle,
Else they will not come near you.
10 (K)Many sorrows shall be to the wicked;
But (L)he who trusts in the Lord, mercy shall surround him.
11 (M)Be glad in the Lord and rejoice, you righteous;

1 Een lied van David, om iets van te leren.
Het is heerlijk
als de Heer je heeft vergeven wat je verkeerd hebt gedaan.
Het is heerlijk
als God je heeft vergeven dat je Hem ongehoorzaam bent geweest.
2 Het is heerlijk
als de Heer zegt dat je niet meer schuldig bent.
Het is heerlijk
als Hij je alles heeft vergeven.
3 Eerst zweeg ik tegen God over de dingen die ik verkeerd had gedaan.
Maar ik kon er niet meer tegen.
De hele dag schreeuwde ik het uit.
4 Want dag en nacht voelde ik dat U boos op mij was.
Ik voelde me zo uitgedroogd als een plant in een hete, droge zomer.
5 Maar tenslotte vertelde ik U
dat ik U ongehoorzaam was geweest.
Ik verborg niets voor U.
Ik vertelde U alles wat ik verkeerd had gedaan.
Toen vergaf U het mij en U deed mijn schuld weg.
6 Iedereen die van U houdt,
moet naar U toe gaan zolang U Zich nog wil laten vinden.
Zelfs als rampen als een golf over hen heen slaan,
zal hun niets gebeuren.
7 Bij U kan ik me verbergen.
U beschermt me in gevaar.
Ik ben zó blij, dat ik voor U wil zingen.
Want U heeft mij bevrijd.
8 De Heer zegt: "Ik leer je hoe je moet leven.
Ik geef je raad en Ik ben altijd bij je.
9 Wees niet zo koppig en eigenwijs als paarden of ezels.
Zij kunnen niet zelf denken.
Zij komen alleen met je mee
als je hen dwingt met een bit en teugels."
10 Mensen die zich niets van God aantrekken,
hebben heel veel moeilijkheden.
Maar God zorgt voor de mensen die op Hem vertrouwen.
11 Mensen die leven zoals God het wil,
kunnen juichen over de Heer.
Ze kunnen jubelen en juichen.
