耶和华啊!求你起来;

Psalm 3[a]

A psalm of David. When he fled from his son Absalom.(A)

Lord, how many are my foes!
How many rise up against me!
Many are saying of me,
    “God will not deliver him.(B)[b]

But you, Lord, are a shield(C) around me,
my glory, the One who lifts my head high.(D)
I call out to the Lord,(E)
and he answers me from his holy mountain.(F)

I lie down and sleep;(G)
I wake again,(H) because the Lord sustains me.
I will not fear(I) though tens of thousands
    assail me on every side.(J)

Arise,(K) Lord!
    Deliver me,(L) my God!
Strike(M) all my enemies on the jaw;
break the teeth(N) of the wicked.

From the Lord comes deliverance.(O)
May your blessing(P) be on your people.

Footnotes

  1. Psalm 3:1 In Hebrew texts 3:1-8 is numbered 3:2-9.
  2. Psalm 3:2 The Hebrew has Selah (a word of uncertain meaning) here and at the end of verses 4 and 8.

1-2 God! Look! Enemies past counting!
Enemies sprouting like mushrooms,
Mobs of them all around me, roaring their mockery:
“Hah! No help for him from God!”

3-4 But you, God, shield me on all sides;
You ground my feet, you lift my head high;
With all my might I shout up to God,
His answers thunder from the holy mountain.

5-6 I stretch myself out. I sleep.
Then I’m up again—rested, tall and steady,
Fearless before the enemy mobs
Coming at me from all sides.

Up, God! My God, help me!
Slap their faces,
First this cheek, then the other,
Your fist hard in their teeth!

Real help comes from God.
Your blessing clothes your people!

Molitva progonjenoga

Davidova pjesma. Napisana dok je bježao pred sinom Abšalomom.

BOŽE, mnogo je mojih neprijatelja!
    Puno ih je protiv mene!
Mnogi o meni govore:
    »Bog ga neće spasiti!« Selah[a]

Ali ti me štitiš, BOŽE!
    Daješ mi čast i nadu.

Glasno ću BOGU uputiti molitvu,
sa Svetog brda[b] on će mi pomoći. Selah

Sad mogu leći i zaspati,
    u miru se probuditi,
    jer BOG me štiti.
Ne bojim se mnoštva neprijatelja
dok stežu obruč sa svih strana.

Ustani, BOŽE![c] Spasi me, Bože moj!
    Udari moje neprijatelje,
    izbij im sve zube.

BOŽE, ti donosiš spasenje!
Ti činiš dobro svom narodu! Selah

Footnotes

Vidi Br 10,35-36.
