Gemenskap med Herren

27 (A) Av David.

Herren är mitt ljus
    och min frälsning.
        Vem skulle jag frukta?
    Herren försvarar mitt liv.
        Vem skulle jag vara rädd för?
När de onda kommer emot mig
        för att sluka mig,
    mina motståndare och fiender,
        då ska de själva snava och falla.
(B) Om en här belägrar mig
        räds inte mitt hjärta,
    om krig bryter ut mot mig
        är jag ändå trygg.

(C) Ett har jag begärt av Herren,
        detta söker jag:
    att få bo i Herrens hus
        i alla mina livsdagar,
    för att se Herrens ljuvlighet
        och söka honom i[a] hans tempel.
(D) Han gömmer mig i sin hydda
        på olyckans dag,
    han beskyddar mig i sitt tält,
        han för mig upp på klippan.
Nu är mitt huvud högt
        över mina fiender omkring mig.
    Jag vill offra jublets offer i hans tält,
        jag vill sjunga och spela
            till Herren.

Herre, hör min röst när jag ropar,
    förbarma dig över mig
        och svara mig!
(E) Mitt hjärta tänker på ditt ord:
        "Sök mitt ansikte!"[b]
    Ditt ansikte, Herre, söker jag.

(F) Dölj inte ditt ansikte för mig,
    avvisa inte din tjänare i vrede,
        du som har varit min hjälp.
    Släpp mig inte, överge mig inte,
        du min frälsnings Gud.
10 Om min far och min mor
        överger mig,
    tar Herren emot mig.
11 (G) Visa mig, Herre, din väg,
    led mig på en jämn stig
        för mina förföljares skull.
12 (H) Utlämna mig inte
        åt mina fienders vilja,
    för falska vittnen stiger fram
        mot mig och andas våld.

13 (I) Jag är viss om att få se
    Herrens godhet
        i de levandes land.
14 (J) Hoppas på Herren,
    var stark och modig i ditt hjärta
        och hoppas på Herren!

An Exuberant Declaration of Faith

A Psalm of David.

27 The Lord is my (A)light and my salvation;
Whom shall I fear?
The (B)Lord is the strength of my life;
Of whom shall I be afraid?
When the wicked came against me
To (C)eat[a] up my flesh,
My enemies and foes,
They stumbled and fell.
(D)Though an army may encamp against me,
My heart shall not fear;
Though war may rise against me,
In this I will be confident.

(E)One thing I have desired of the Lord,
That will I seek:
That I may (F)dwell in the house of the Lord
All the days of my life,
To behold the [b]beauty of the Lord,
And to inquire in His temple.
For (G)in the time of trouble
He shall hide me in His pavilion;
In the secret place of His tabernacle
He shall hide me;
He shall (H)set me high upon a rock.

And now (I)my head shall be [c]lifted up above my enemies all around me;
Therefore I will offer sacrifices of [d]joy in His tabernacle;
I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to the Lord.

Hear, O Lord, when I cry with my voice!
Have mercy also upon me, and answer me.
When You said, “Seek My face,”
My heart said to You, “Your face, Lord, I will seek.”
(J)Do not hide Your face from me;
Do not turn Your servant away in anger;
You have been my help;
Do not leave me nor forsake me,
O God of my salvation.
10 (K)When my father and my mother forsake me,
Then the Lord will take care of me.

11 (L)Teach me Your way, O Lord,
And lead me in a smooth path, because of my enemies.
12 Do not deliver me to the will of my adversaries;
For (M)false witnesses have risen against me,
And such as breathe out violence.
13 I would have lost heart, unless I had believed
That I would see the goodness of the Lord
(N)In the land of the living.

14 (O)Wait[e] on the Lord;
Be of good courage,
And He shall strengthen your heart;
Wait, I say, on the Lord!

Of David.

The Lord is my light(A) and my salvation(B)
    whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold(C) of my life—
    of whom shall I be afraid?(D)

Though an army besiege me,
    my heart will not fear;(F)
though war break out against me,

One thing(H) I ask from the Lord,
    this only do I seek:
that I may dwell in the house of the Lord
    all the days of my life,(I)
to gaze on the beauty of the Lord
    and to seek him in his temple.
For in the day of trouble(J)
    he will keep me safe(K) in his dwelling;
he will hide me(L) in the shelter of his sacred tent
    and set me high upon a rock.(M)

Then my head will be exalted(N)
    above the enemies who surround me;(O)
at his sacred tent I will sacrifice(P) with shouts of joy;(Q)
    I will sing(R) and make music(S) to the Lord.

Hear my voice(T) when I call, Lord;
    be merciful to me and answer me.(U)
My heart says of you, “Seek his face!(V)
    Your face, Lord, I will seek.
Do not hide your face(W) from me,
    do not turn your servant away in anger;(X)
    you have been my helper.(Y)
Do not reject me or forsake(Z) me,
    God my Savior.(AA)
10 Though my father and mother forsake me,
    the Lord will receive me.
11 Teach me your way,(AB) Lord;
    lead me in a straight path(AC)
    because of my oppressors.(AD)
12 Do not turn me over to the desire of my foes,
    for false witnesses(AE) rise up against me,
    spouting malicious accusations.

13 I remain confident of this:
    I will see the goodness of the Lord(AF)
    in the land of the living.(AG)
14 Wait(AH) for the Lord;
    be strong(AI) and take heart
    and wait for the Lord.
