22 Dios mío, Dios mío, ¿por qué me has abandonado?(A)
¿Por qué estás tan lejos, y no vienes a salvarme?
¿Por qué no atiendes mi clamor?
2 Dios mío, te llamo de día, y no me respondes;
te llamo de noche, y no hallo reposo.
3 Tú eres santo, tú eres rey;
tú eres alabado por Israel.
4 Nuestros padres confiaron en ti;
en ti confiaron, y tú los libraste.
5 A ti clamaron, y fueron librados;
en ti confiaron, y no quedaron en vergüenza.
6 Pero yo soy más gusano que hombre;
¡un ser despreciable del que todos se burlan!
7 Los que me ven, se burlan de mí;
me hacen muecas, sacuden la cabeza,(B) y dicen:
8 «Éste puso su confianza en el Señor,
¡pues que el Señor lo salve!
¡Que venga el Señor a librarlo,
ya que en él se complacía!»(C)
9 Pero eres tú quien me dio la vida,
eres tú quien me infundió confianza
desde que era un niño de pecho.
10 Antes de nacer fui puesto a tu cuidado;
aun estaba yo en el vientre de mi madre,
y tú eras ya mi Dios.
11 No te apartes de mí, que me cerca la angustia
y nadie viene en mi ayuda.
12 Mucha gente poderosa me rodea;
son fuertes como toros de Basán.
13 Como leones feroces y rugientes,
abren sus fauces, dispuestos a atacarme.
14 Me voy diluyendo, como el agua;
tengo todos los huesos dislocados.
El corazón, dentro del pecho,
se me derrite como la cera.
15 Tengo seca, muy seca, la garganta;
la lengua se me pega al paladar;
¡me has lanzado al polvo de la muerte!
16 Me ha cercado una banda de malvados;
¡me tienen rodeado, como perros!
¡Han taladrado mis manos y mis pies!
17 Puedo contarme todos los huesos,
mientras ellos se regodean al verme.
18 Echan a la suerte mis vestidos
y se los reparten por sorteo.(D)
19 Pero tú, Señor, ¡no te alejes!
Tú eres mi fuerza, ¡ven pronto en mi ayuda!
20 ¡Rescata de la espada y de esos perros
la única vida que tengo!
21 ¡Sálvame de las fauces de esos leones!
¡Líbrame de los cuernos de esos búfalos!
22 Anunciaré tu nombre a mis hermanos;
te alabaré en medio de la comunidad.(E)
23 Ustedes, los que temen al Señor, ¡alábenlo!
Descendientes de Jacob, ¡denle gloria!
Hijos todos de Israel, ¡adórenlo!
24 El Señor no rechaza al afligido,
no desprecia a los que sufren,
ni esconde de ellos su rostro;
cuando a él claman, les responde.
25 Yo lo alabaré en medio de la comunidad,
y ante los que le temen cumpliré mis promesas.
26 Los pobres comerán, y quedarán satisfechos;
los que buscan al Señor lo alabarán,
y tendrán una larga vida.
27 Todos los rincones de la tierra
invocarán al Señor, y a él se volverán;
¡ante él se inclinarán todas las naciones!
28 El reinado es del Señor,
y él gobierna a todas las naciones.
29 Todos los poderosos de la tierra lo adorarán;
todos los mortales le rendirán pleitesía,
todos los que no tienen vida propia.
30 Las generaciones futuras le servirán,
y hablarán del Señor a la generación venidera.
31 Se dirá a los que aún no han nacido
que el Señor es justo en todo lo que hace.

1 My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?(A)
Why are you so far(B) from saving me,
so far from my cries of anguish?(C)
2 My God, I cry out by day, but you do not answer,(D)
by night,(E) but I find no rest.[b]
3 Yet you are enthroned as the Holy One;(F)
you are the one Israel praises.[c](G)
4 In you our ancestors put their trust;
they trusted and you delivered them.(H)
5 To you they cried out(I) and were saved;
in you they trusted(J) and were not put to shame.(K)
6 But I am a worm(L) and not a man,
scorned by everyone,(M) despised(N) by the people.
7 All who see me mock me;(O)
they hurl insults,(P) shaking their heads.(Q)
8 “He trusts in the Lord,” they say,
“let the Lord rescue him.(R)
Let him deliver him,(S)
since he delights(T) in him.”
9 Yet you brought me out of the womb;(U)
you made me trust(V) in you, even at my mother’s breast.
10 From birth(W) I was cast on you;
from my mother’s womb you have been my God.
12 Many bulls(AA) surround me;(AB)
strong bulls of Bashan(AC) encircle me.
13 Roaring lions(AD) that tear their prey(AE)
open their mouths wide(AF) against me.
14 I am poured out like water,
and all my bones are out of joint.(AG)
My heart has turned to wax;(AH)
it has melted(AI) within me.
15 My mouth[d] is dried up like a potsherd,(AJ)
and my tongue sticks to the roof of my mouth;(AK)
you lay me in the dust(AL) of death.
16 Dogs(AM) surround me,
a pack of villains encircles me;
they pierce[e](AN) my hands and my feet.
17 All my bones are on display;
people stare(AO) and gloat over me.(AP)
18 They divide my clothes among them
and cast lots(AQ) for my garment.(AR)
19 But you, Lord, do not be far from me.(AS)
You are my strength;(AT) come quickly(AU) to help me.(AV)
20 Deliver me from the sword,(AW)
my precious life(AX) from the power of the dogs.(AY)
21 Rescue me from the mouth of the lions;(AZ)
save me from the horns of the wild oxen.(BA)
22 I will declare your name to my people;
in the assembly(BB) I will praise you.(BC)
23 You who fear the Lord, praise him!(BD)
All you descendants of Jacob, honor him!(BE)
Revere him,(BF) all you descendants of Israel!
24 For he has not despised(BG) or scorned
the suffering of the afflicted one;(BH)
he has not hidden his face(BI) from him
but has listened to his cry for help.(BJ)
25 From you comes the theme of my praise in the great assembly;(BK)
before those who fear you[f] I will fulfill my vows.(BL)
26 The poor will eat(BM) and be satisfied;
those who seek the Lord will praise him—(BN)
may your hearts live forever!
27 All the ends of the earth(BO)
will remember and turn to the Lord,
and all the families of the nations
will bow down before him,(BP)
28 for dominion belongs to the Lord(BQ)
and he rules over the nations.
29 All the rich(BR) of the earth will feast and worship;(BS)
all who go down to the dust(BT) will kneel before him—
those who cannot keep themselves alive.(BU)
30 Posterity(BV) will serve him;
future generations(BW) will be told about the Lord.
31 They will proclaim his righteousness,(BX)
declaring to a people yet unborn:(BY)
He has done it!(BZ)

22 My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? why art thou so far from helping me, and from the words of my roaring?
2 O my God, I cry in the day time, but thou hearest not; and in the night season, and am not silent.
3 But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.
4 Our fathers trusted in thee: they trusted, and thou didst deliver them.
5 They cried unto thee, and were delivered: they trusted in thee, and were not confounded.
6 But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised of the people.
7 All they that see me laugh me to scorn: they shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying,
8 He trusted on the Lord that he would deliver him: let him deliver him, seeing he delighted in him.
9 But thou art he that took me out of the womb: thou didst make me hope when I was upon my mother's breasts.
10 I was cast upon thee from the womb: thou art my God from my mother's belly.
11 Be not far from me; for trouble is near; for there is none to help.
12 Many bulls have compassed me: strong bulls of Bashan have beset me round.
13 They gaped upon me with their mouths, as a ravening and a roaring lion.
14 I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint: my heart is like wax; it is melted in the midst of my bowels.
15 My strength is dried up like a potsherd; and my tongue cleaveth to my jaws; and thou hast brought me into the dust of death.
16 For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have inclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet.
17 I may tell all my bones: they look and stare upon me.
18 They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture.
19 But be not thou far from me, O Lord: O my strength, haste thee to help me.
20 Deliver my soul from the sword; my darling from the power of the dog.
21 Save me from the lion's mouth: for thou hast heard me from the horns of the unicorns.
22 I will declare thy name unto my brethren: in the midst of the congregation will I praise thee.
23 Ye that fear the Lord, praise him; all ye the seed of Jacob, glorify him; and fear him, all ye the seed of Israel.
24 For he hath not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted; neither hath he hid his face from him; but when he cried unto him, he heard.
25 My praise shall be of thee in the great congregation: I will pay my vows before them that fear him.
26 The meek shall eat and be satisfied: they shall praise the Lord that seek him: your heart shall live for ever.
27 All the ends of the world shall remember and turn unto the Lord: and all the kindreds of the nations shall worship before thee.
28 For the kingdom is the Lord's: and he is the governor among the nations.
29 All they that be fat upon earth shall eat and worship: all they that go down to the dust shall bow before him: and none can keep alive his own soul.
30 A seed shall serve him; it shall be accounted to the Lord for a generation.
31 They shall come, and shall declare his righteousness unto a people that shall be born, that he hath done this.
