Psalm 144
Amplified Bible, Classic Edition
Psalm 144
[A Psalm] of David.
1 Blessed be the Lord, my Rock and my keen and firm Strength, Who teaches my hands to war and my fingers to fight—
2 My Steadfast Love and my Fortress, my High Tower and my Deliverer, my Shield and He in Whom I trust and take refuge, Who subdues my people under me.
3 Lord, what is man that You take notice of him? Or [the] son of man that You take account of him?(A)
4 Man is like vanity and a breath; his days are as a shadow that passes away.
5 Bow Your heavens, O Lord, and come down; touch the mountains, and they shall smoke.
6 Cast forth lightning and scatter [my enemies]; send out Your arrows and embarrass and frustrate them.
7 Stretch forth Your hand from above; rescue me and deliver me out of great waters, from the hands of hostile aliens (tribes around us)
8 Whose mouths speak deceit and whose right hands are right hands [raised in taking] fraudulent oaths.
9 I will sing a new song to You, O God; upon a harp, an instrument of ten strings, will I offer praises to You.
10 You are He Who gives salvation to kings, Who rescues David His servant from the hurtful sword [of evil].
11 Rescue me and deliver me out of the power of [hostile] alien [tribes] whose mouths speak deceit and whose right hands are right hands [raised in taking] fraudulent oaths.
12 When our sons shall be as plants grown large in their youth and our daughters as sculptured corner pillars hewn like those of a palace;
13 When our garners are full, affording all manner of store, and our sheep bring forth thousands and ten thousands in our pastures;
14 When our oxen are well loaded; when there is no invasion [of hostile armies] and no going forth [against besiegers—when there is no murder or manslaughter] and no outcry in our streets;
15 Happy and blessed are the people who are in such a case; yes, happy (blessed, fortunate, prosperous, to be envied) are the people whose God is the Lord!

Inno per la guerra e la vittoria
144 Di Davide.
Benedetto il Signore, mia roccia,
che addestra le mie mani alla guerra,
le mie dita alla battaglia.
2 Mia grazia e mia fortezza,
mio rifugio e mia liberazione,
6 Le tue folgori disperdano i nemici,
lancia frecce, sconvolgili.
7 Stendi dall'alto la tua mano,
scampami e salvami dalle grandi acque,
dalla mano degli stranieri.
8 La loro bocca dice menzogne
e alzando la destra giurano il falso.
9 Mio Dio, ti canterò un canto nuovo,
suonerò per te sull'arpa a dieci corde;
10 a te, che dai vittoria al tuo consacrato,
che liberi Davide tuo servo.
Salvami dalla spada iniqua,
11 liberami dalla mano degli stranieri;
la loro bocca dice menzogne
e la loro destra giura il falso.
12 I nostri figli siano come piante
cresciute nella loro giovinezza;
le nostre figlie come colonne d'angolo
nella costruzione del tempio.
13 I nostri granai siano pieni,
trabocchino di frutti d'ogni specie;
siano a migliaia i nostri greggi,
a mirìadi nelle nostre campagne;
14 siano carichi i nostri buoi.
Nessuna breccia, nessuna incursione,
nessun gemito nelle nostre piazze.
15 Beato il popolo che possiede questi beni:
beato il popolo il cui Dio è il Signore.

2 He is my loving God and my fortress,(B)
my stronghold(C) and my deliverer,
my shield,(D) in whom I take refuge,
who subdues peoples[a](E) under me.
3 Lord, what are human beings(F) that you care for them,
mere mortals that you think of them?
4 They are like a breath;(G)
their days are like a fleeting shadow.(H)
5 Part your heavens,(I) Lord, and come down;(J)
touch the mountains, so that they smoke.(K)
6 Send forth lightning(L) and scatter(M) the enemy;
shoot your arrows(N) and rout them.
7 Reach down your hand from on high;(O)
deliver me and rescue me(P)
from the mighty waters,(Q)
from the hands of foreigners(R)
8 whose mouths are full of lies,(S)
whose right hands(T) are deceitful.(U)
9 I will sing a new song(V) to you, my God;
on the ten-stringed lyre(W) I will make music to you,
10 to the One who gives victory to kings,(X)
who delivers his servant David.(Y)
From the deadly sword(Z) 11 deliver me;
rescue me(AA) from the hands of foreigners(AB)
whose mouths are full of lies,(AC)
whose right hands are deceitful.(AD)
12 Then our sons in their youth
will be like well-nurtured plants,(AE)
and our daughters will be like pillars(AF)
carved to adorn a palace.
13 Our barns will be filled(AG)
with every kind of provision.
Our sheep will increase by thousands,
by tens of thousands in our fields;
14 our oxen(AH) will draw heavy loads.[b]
There will be no breaching of walls,(AI)
no going into captivity,
no cry of distress in our streets.(AJ)
15 Blessed is the people(AK) of whom this is true;
