13 How long, O Lord? Will you forget me forever?
How long will you hide your face from me?
²How long must I make decisions alone
with sorrow in my heart day after day?
How long will my enemy triumph over me?

³Look at me! Answer me, O Lord my God!
Light up my eyes,
or else I will die
⁴and my enemy will say, “I have overpowered him.”
My opponents will rejoice because I have been shaken.

⁵But I trust your mercy.
My heart finds joy in your salvation.
⁶I will sing to the Lord because he has been good to me.

²How long must I experience worries in my soul,
sorrow in my heart every day?
How long will my enemy tower over me?

An Urgent Prayer

³Look at me. Answer me, O Lord my God.
Give light to my eyes
    so I do not sleep in death,
⁴    so my enemy does not say, “I have overcome him,”
    so my foes do not rejoice when I fall.

A Solid Answer

⁵But I trust in your mercy.
My heart rejoices in your salvation.
⁶I will sing to the Lord
because he has accomplished his purpose for me.

13 How long wilt thou forget me, O Lord? for ever? how long wilt thou hide thy face from me?

²How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart daily? how long shall mine enemy be exalted over me?

³Consider and hear me, O Lord my God: lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death;

⁴Lest mine enemy say, I have prevailed against him; and those that trouble me rejoice when I am moved.

⁵But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation.

⁶I will sing unto the Lord, because he hath dealt bountifully with me.
