Ständigt förföljda men aldrig utplånade
129 Ända från min tidigaste ungdom, säger Israel, har jag blivit förföljd.
2 Men det är inte ute med mig! Mina fiender har aldrig lyckats utplåna mig!
3-4 Min rygg är sönderslagen av deras piskor. Det är som de kört fram med en plog över mig. Men Herren har visat att man kan lita på honom. Han har krossat kedjorna som dessa Guds fiender hade bundit mig med.
5 Låt alla dem som hatar Jerusalem bli besegrade och ta till flykten.
6-7 Må de bli som gräs i dålig jord, som vissnar och blir brunt när det är halvvuxet. Den som skördar struntar i det, och ingen binder samman det.
8 Och ingen som går förbi dem ropar: Herrens välsignelse är över er! Vi välsignar er i Herrens namn.

129 Many a time have they afflicted me from my youth, may Israel now say:
2 Many a time have they afflicted me from my youth: yet they have not prevailed against me.
3 The plowers plowed upon my back: they made long their furrows.
4 The Lord is righteous: he hath cut asunder the cords of the wicked.
5 Let them all be confounded and turned back that hate Zion.
6 Let them be as the grass upon the housetops, which withereth afore it groweth up:
7 Wherewith the mower filleth not his hand; nor he that bindeth sheaves his bosom.
8 Neither do they which go by say, The blessing of the Lord be upon you: we bless you in the name of the Lord.
